About the operator
- Christopher F00Excellent day toursGreat day spent with Martin exploring the Arnhem battlefield. Martin was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the Market Garden Operation and surrounding area. Spent a second day with Martin on a drive up from Amsterdam to the Westerbork transit camp and a tour of that historic site. Very informative and moving experience. Highly recommend Martin for any of his tours.
- NY-VIE00Market Garden TourThis was an excellent experience. Martin was very informative and took us to spots I never would have found on my own. His knowledge of Market Garden was amazing!! A warm and kind person too I might add.
- thedecoduo00Excellent tourMartin was an excellent guide. Arrived on time. He took us to multiple locations throughout the day and was very informative. Learned a few things about the battle. Highly recommend this tour for all WWII buffs.
- SheridanNorfolk00A visit to September1944From the landing zones to the routes to the Hartenstein Hotel museum and the bridge. It was a great visit. The museum is very good and well worth the visit. Do not miss the Military cemetery.
- Companion60976500Great Tour of ArnhemMartin is an expert guide and historian. My husband and I had a wonderful day trip covering the major sites of Operation Market Garden. We highly recommend Martin for this trip or others that he offers.
- RyanP32333200A Very Interesting Day OutMartin was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who has a great way in making the stories interesting. We saw things we would never have seen without him, and he gave us a great perspective on the history and personal stories. We had a great day out, and would like to recommend him to anyone who wants to learn something new.
- 256laurieb00Fantastic Day!Martin made the history of Anne Frank and the many others that she represents come to life. We could not have asked for a better tour guide! I hope our paths cross again. I would love to do more tours with him.!
- evil8er200600Superb Tour with MartinI took this private tour with Martin. I was very impressed with his knowledge and the sights we saw. He was very knowledgeable and we explored many areas I'd never imagine visiting on a "normal" tour. The Jewish Quarter was fascinating and humbling, the church with the nun buried under the sidewalk was hilarious, and the "monkey bar" was quite entertaining. Martin also took me to a wonderful cafe high above the city, we explored a small part of the Red-light District, and I learned about Amsterdam architecture and why the buildings slope towards the street. I was especially moved by the memorial where the names of the Jewish residents who died in the Holocaust are posted on the canal wall. I would never have found that. If you like a more personable experience and you are a lover of history as I am, this is the tour for you. Thank you, Martin, for a wonderful tour.
- Frank C00Great tour!!! Brings the battle to life !Martin is an exceptional guide and a nice, friendly person who is flexible to your schedule and sheds light on all aspects of Market Garden. The bike tour allows you to experience the battle in true Dutch style. With Martin as a guide, I learned a lot about a battle that I didn’t know about before. 100% would recommend!
- KarenCanessa00A fun and interesting walk through AmsterdamWe had a great walk through Amsterdam and saw things we would never have visited without this tour. Martin is a great storyteller with enormous knowledge of the city. If you want a fun and interesting few hours in Amsterdam book this tour!
- 646heather00Anne Frank in AmsterdamWe had a very informative and moving private walk in Amsterdam. We were able to see different areas where Anne lived and went to school. We were very privileged to get into the tiny Anne Frank house where she lived until captured. Our guide was very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant.
- KarenCanessa00A great day outWe really enjoyed the Market Garden tour last week. It was great to have an insite into where my grandad was during the war and to learn more about operation market garden. Your knowledge is fantastic and we felt you got the balance right, informative without overloading us with details. Your communication and reliability were great and we would thoroughly recommend you as a tour guide and someone to have an enjoyable day out with.
- Joost F00Visit significant places in Anne's lifeWe learned about these tours through friends. The tour actually consists of a number of sub tours. We did the tour in south Amsterdam (Rivierenbuurt) and the one in the Plantagebuurt on one day. The tour to Kamp Amersfoort, the Verscholen Dorp and Westerbork we did on a second day. The first covered Anne's life before she and her family went in hiding and led us along a number of significant places (Euterpe straat, headquarters and interrogation place of the SD!). The second drew the greater picture of the rounding up and deportation of the Jewish inhabitants of Amsterdam. The second day we went to Kamp Amersfoort. This had actually been set up in the same way as the bigger camps like Auschwitz. The tour then went on to the Verscholen Dorp, a number of underground dwellings deep in the woods near Vierhouten. Finally we went to Westerbork, the camp from which the trains departed for the German concentration camps. We found these tours very interesting. Martin was knowledgeable and explained well.If you want to learn about Anne's life in a short time and not just by visiting the Achterhuis, do one or more of these tours!
