About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- bhallier0 contributionsTerrible people run this tour and bring your own bike tools and helmets.Read before booking with Remco (owner) and Frankey (guide)! Frankey, the guy who meets you at the station in Weesp makes you walk for a half hour before arriving at a bike rack with very old, decrepit bikes. Frankey was very irresponsible. First, he did not provide the requested helmets. Next, we tried all the available bikes and none were the right height for any of us. We are 5’ 2”, 5’5”, and 5’8” tall. We aren’t excessively short or tall so there should definitely be more options in terms of bicycles offered. We asked over and over to have a lower bike seat but he said he didn’t have the tools. When my mom first tried to mount the bike, she ran into the wall as she tried to put her feet on the pedals from the ground. She then remounted and went around the corner to try to see if the bike was satisfactory. Unfortunately, she fell and broke her hip. We should've walked away before trying bikes that were way too high for us and that is a mistake we regret every single day since that moment! Our entire vacation was a nightmare from that moment on but that's beside the point. After she fell, she could not put any weight on the right leg so we obviously ended the tour even before it began. Frankey then told the us (we were 3) that she could sit at a café and wait for us to finish the tour. That was the first absurd suggestion. Then, as we begged a stranger to drive us back to the station to call the ambulance, Frankey leaned in and whispered “please do not tell the hospital that you were on a bike tour with us”. The next hour was spent waiting for the ambulance while Frankey was singing and dancing Alice Cooper songs because we are Americans and he thought it was funny. He is so unaware and inconsiderate. Frankey really lacks good judgment and should be schooled in how to act appropriately. I have now seen other reviews on the site that mention the height of the bike seats being too high and nothing was done to help them. They had to beg to stop at a bike shop to use tools. This negligence is obviously not an isolated issue. You'll notice you don't get the owner's last name and you can't find him anywhere online except one photo that says "remco aka rubio". He only responds when he needs to tell you how much to pay Frankey and where to meet. After that, he is totally absent. Also, look at other poor reviews. He keeps writing "everyone loves our tour except you"! They are both totally insensitive and tone deaf to the situation. Besides the $21,000 hip surgery, this was a terrible experience and we had to spend weeks in a hospital nearby just waiting for my mom to be able to use a walker to fly home. I'm sure he will say that I am the only one to ever say what i've said but you can read other reviews for yourself. Luckily, tripadvisor and my badge status doesn't allow the company to remove bad reviews. BEWARE!Written September 17, 2024
- jjmangin0 contributionsWindmill and bike tourOutstanding tour with Roberto. He paced it out well with explanations and history of this great area 15 mins outside Amsterdam by train. Great scenery of farms, windmills, the castle and the surrounding area. The visit to the cattle farm was awesome and the fresh milk and cheese were great. My wife and I highly recommend!!!!Written September 1, 2024
- V94HZmartino0 contributionsHelpful staff and good foodI stayed at the hotel for a week. I first met Seema, Reception Manager. She was very intelligent, helpful, relaxed, respectful and friendly and she had a good sense of humour. The food was nice and wholesome. Dorota, who managed breakfast and dinner was also very friendly, polite and helpful. Thank you for a good time.Written August 15, 2024

- rebeccakP7182UL0 contributionsGreat tour!We had a great tour! Remco is very knowledgeable, and we learnt so much about the country on our tour! All the spots he took us too were gorgeous and it’s an experience we will never forget!Written July 9, 2024
- 174sheriw0 contributionsProceed with caution this overpriced, under delivered “tour”Pretty countryside tour, but a few things to note before you go: A) confirm the itinerary with the host before you go. We did not do at least 80% of what was advertised on TripAdvisor. When noted during the tour, our guide Franky blamed US for misinterpreting the details! There is no cheese tasting as promised, nor entry into castle grounds (just viewed from very afar). B) you must be an expert bike rider to sustain on this tour. My two friends and I were only presented 3 bikes and when we requested the seats to come down, he said that it was okay to have our legs hyper extended! Thankfully he helped my one friend out at a local bike shop because she insisted. Not the best way to begin a tour (telling the customer they should not feel the way they do!). Their “quiet bike paths with minimal traffic” were in fact very busy roads where pedestrians and drivers shared. We had to walk our bikes off the path twice to avoid begin hit by massive trucks! Not for the weary of heads. C) half the sites were closed or blocked off due to construction or other reason. It was a Thursday, so they should’ve offered some alternatives. D) the guide only offered personal stories, very minimal history or historical significance was discussed. At the end of the day, this tour is VERY overpriced for what you get, and god forbid you turn into one of the previous clients who fell into a ditch head first or had trouble operating the too-tall bike… It’s too bad, we had a set of expectations based on the tour description and were let down. Proceed with caution, or take your business elsewhere.Written May 30, 2024

- 32demisc0 contributionsFantastic !We were picked up from the canals in a fancy classis Jaguar S Type. Our tourguide was a born and bred Amsterdam guy who was really fun to be with. After the windmills, cheese and clogs we went of the beaten tracks an extra half an hour to see the famous Duch countryside. Very recommendable.Written September 18, 2023
- I6703RRjuliaw0 contributionsHighly recommend-- fun and memorableWe had an absolutely fantastic time with Remco. The route was fantastic and we really enjoyed all of the history, facts, and interesting (often amusing) side notes. Weesp and the neighboring town with castle are very special. The bikes fit us perfectly (we have 2 tall, 2 short in our family), which we all appreciated-- very comfortable . One highlight among many was tasting fresh milk and ice cream. It was everything I hoped it would be for our family-- a private tour, a great day biking (very good exercise) in fresh air with beautiful countryside. Very personal and also very professional. Fun and memorable. Highly recommend.Written August 5, 2023

Remco was an excellent guide. We visited both countryside and the city over the course of about four hours. Overall, the tour was a great introduction to the city and its people and a great experience!

By far the best layover tour I have experienced. There are many benefits by doing this private tour as you make it your own. Here are some key benefits:
1. Airport Transfer: tour guide was able to pick us up at the terminal.
2. Tour flexibility: we had a 6 hour layover and we wanted a 2-3 hour tour to be able to make it back on time and avoid missing our flight. He based the price on the total tour time which was very convenient for us.
3. Customizable: Remco have us the opportunity to make the tour our own. We decided where to go and key places we wanted to see. We also asked for suggestions and he was able to make all of our requests happen within the 2-3 hour period.
If you are going to Amsterdam, make sure to book a tour with Remco. He knows his country, history, best places to go, and you are able to customize the tour in a way that is unique and you can make it your own.
I typically don’t like going on tours because the agenda has been set for you. This is way different and I am glad I did the layover tour because I was able to experience the main areas of the country so then I can return and know what I am doing.
Remco, thank you so much for the opportunity and the experience you provided.

THIS GUY IS AMAZING! He picked us up at the airport and drove us around the city, into the countryside, through the Keukenhof fields of flowers, for hours. Brought us to a working windmill, climbed inside, met the guy grinding the grains. Took us to a milk/ cheese farm where we bought delicious cheese, bread and mustard. He stopped whenever we wanted and acted as personal photographer, had wonderful history and stories and knew the quick pathways through the city when we got out to hit the highlights. Knocked many obscure things off our city list that would have taken us hours just to find! Fun personality, very knowledgeable (born and raised in Amsterdam), fun to spend time with. Even through our sheer exhaustion, he made us feel welcome and made the touring pleasant. Dropped us at our air b & b door just in time for check-in! BOOK HIM NOW!!!
