Keukenhof definitely worth it, Giethoorn okay
I thoroughly enjoyed the Keukenhof gardens. I took alot of photos and got some awesome souvenirs. I liked how this part of the tour, we could explore the gardens on our own as to avoid the major crowds. The giethoorn canal tour was so-so to me. It took a long time to get there. There was not as much to do when given free time to wander the area. The boat tour would have been nice, but there was not much space to the canals and other boats (rented by tourists who did not know how to move them) kept bumping into us and frustrating the Captain. The bus was comfortable

Wonderful day trip to two great spots!
Wonderful day trip to Keukenhof and Giethoorn! Guide Nadira was very good! Only tricky part was finding meeting spot - was not well marked and asked many Amsterdam locals, including in Centraal Station, and no one had even heard of it! May want to locate it a day or two before to make the morning less stressful!

Amsterdam at the height of Tulip Season
Awesome picture opportunities! Gardens themselves were crowded due to the Bloom Parade Weekend, but our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and when he took us to the actual tulip fields it made the trip!

      INCREDIBLE.
AWESOME! Beautiful flowers and beautiful atmosphere. It was an enjoyable experience for my family and I. So many colors and different types of flowers. Will be coming back next year.

      A must see
All I can say is IT IS AMAZING! Go early in the morning. Go in the back entrance and work your way to the front. There were far less people at that entrance, which give you better photography opportunities. The fragrance was spectacular. Birds chirping happily. As we worked our way through the beautiful meandering paths to the main entrance, we were so happy we went early. So many tour buses filled with people that of course wanted to take photos just like I did. A must see.

      Changed meeting place
This trip may have been nice if we were able to go on it. I was told to meet at the Ibis hotel at 9:00 we arrive at 8:15 and waited for a bus that never showed up. I had no idea they changed the meeting place. The people said they tried to contact me but we had just arrived the day before and apparently the message was not delivered to me. I would expect that at this price they could have sent a representative to the original meeting place to inform us of the change. When i finally got in touch with them they said the bus had already left and suggested I get a taxi to drive us out to Keukenhof. The cab ride would have been quite expensive so we found the tulip bus, but by the time we waited in line for the bus and arrived at the garden the guide told us we only had one hour before the bus left for the 2 hour drive to Giethoorn. At this point we opted to just take the entry tickets to the garden and forget the rest of the trip. I went to Amsterdam to see the tulips, this change of bus stop ruined our day. Luckily we enjoyed our time in the Garden but will never use this company again.

      Keukenhof was an exceptional experience.
The gardens were wonderful and the sun came out for us. Our tour manager was informative and well humored. The Geithorn canal tour was ok, it would have been nicer if sunny.

      Heavenly Tulips
My husband and I wanted to see Keukenhof and Giethoorn and didn’t want the hassle of renting a car etc. this trip was perfect. It took us early to Keukenhof and we had several hours to explore the gardens and the tulips. Our guide Maria, gave us the best route to see everything there. On the way to Giethoorn, we say multiple fields of blooming tulips. Maria gave us a short history of all the important Dutch towns that we passed. She was delightful. Our driver Tony, (who was 80!) was excellent as well. We loved our experience and would highly recommend this trip for the convenience and efficiency.

      Worth the trip!!!
Naufal was as good if not better than the destinations, his passion really brought everything to life. Keukenhof was amazing and still full of flowers though we were early in the season. Giethoorn was a world of its own with plenty of shops places to see and our boat tour with Kevin was great.

      NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE
We were booked to go on this tour to leave at 8am Saturday morning, and received a text at 2pm the day before to say this tour had been cancelled. We were not in wifi area at the time, and by time we arrived back in Amsterdam, and found out, all the tour offices were closed. It was very upsetting to have this cancelled, at this late stage, and luckily I was able to book the tour with Viatour. This was the first time I had used Get your Guide/Xalam tours and I am not sure I have the confidence in this company to book again.

Missed the blooms by a couple of weeks!
Gardens were spectacular and we were there when only about 10% of the flowers were in bloom - really makes us want to come back and see the real thing!

      Well worth visiting both venues
Great day out just in time to see the tulips in full bloom still. Tour guide was very informative and gave top tips to enhance our visits. Great to see outside Amsterdam as we usually stay in the city when we visit.

Good value if you have one day and want to see the sites outside of Amsterdam
The trip was a full day with comfortable transportation in a small Mercedes van with six other people. The guide Nadhira was a young college student but with loads and loads of experience driving people all over europe. She knew when to be available and when not to push. She really didn't talk to us unless we talked to her. Basically turned us loose at each of the three stops. The first was Keukenhof where she arranged our admission and we met back two and a half hours later. The second was in Volendam where she once again turn us loose for an hour and 15 minutes suggesting that might be a time for lunch which we did. There could perhaps have been a little longer time there so that we could do something other than just eat. For example the photographs and costumes might have been fun. In any case our last stop was at Zaanse where the windmills and demonstrations of making wooden shoes and cheese were interesting but this place is really a gigantic Disneyland tourist trap. I would not recommend Zaanse unless you have very little time, have kids, and want to be able to say you have checked these boxes

Haven’t lived till you’ve seen it
The Kuekenhof Tulip Festival is simply divine. If you love flowers, you haven’t lived til you’ve seen what the Dutch do at these beautiful gardens for a 60 day period from mid March to mid May each year. Acres and acres of brilliantly colored and variegated species of tulips. You feel like someone dropped you into heaven. I can’t find words to describe it. And the Dutch are so full of life and dedicated to this festival that it is done so well. Large crowds but you don’t feel it. Joyful. The paths are plentiful, the facilities are well conceived even down to the availability of cleanly restrooms. Talk about a bucket list item!

We had done a number of day tours with various companies over the last few weeks as we were travelling around Europe, so we knew to check the booking details carefully, as often they will say something along the lines of 'arrive at 8.30am for a 9am start' or 'please arrive 15 mins prior to meeting time.' This one, however, didn't say anything to that affect and simply advised to meet at the location (outside Ibis) at 9am. We arrived at 8.50am just to be safe. We waited and waited, but there was nobody and no tour bus in sight. We triple checked that we were in the right place. I stayed put (in case someone came to get us) while my husband walked around to see if there was anywhere around the corner or nearby that we should have been - but there was nobody anywhere.

We sent a message to the tour operator clarifying the meeting place and asking if there was a delay. We then received a message to say that they had tried to call us and had left without us because they needed to keep to their "tight schedule" (as if we had been late and held them up).

I would completely understand them leaving without us if we had been late. But we were early and standing around wondering where they were - nobody had come back to the meeting place between 8.50 and 9am to check for any remaining tour participants (the bus was apparently in a different location, so they had walked people over to the bus from the meeting place). We were using a travel sim so the number they called us on was not connected. Regardless of whether we answered the phone I would not have thought it was appropriate to leave prior to the agreed time - they just made an assumption that we wouldn't turn up.

If the meeting time is 9am, the tour should not leave before that time, and the tour guide should be at that meeting place up until that time as specified. Alternatively, the booking confirmation should advise an earlier arrival time and note that the bus does not actually leave from the meeting point.

After finally getting hold of them, we were told we could meet the group at the first tour stop if we caught a bus at our own expense (it wasn't expensive, but the tour was). We did this and were able to join the tour for the rest of the day. It wasn't acknowledged that they left early; we were made to feel as though the mix up was our fault.

It was a nice tour in that we saw some lovely little towns, but it was overpriced for what it was, and after such a rocky start and no real apology or even acknowledgement of their mistake, it did ruin the day a bit. We were also incredibly frustrated because at each town we visited, we were given a time to return to the bus so that we could leave for the next place. Not once did we leave on time - we waited up to 20 minutes for people to return. So the "tight schedule" apparently only applied to the departure time in the morning, and in that instance they left BEFORE the scheduled time - after that, the meeting times became meaningless and we just sat on the bus waiting for everyone to come back when they were good and ready. Really inconsistent and disappointing experience, and no excuse for it given the cost of the tour.

We have just had a really pleasant and memorable tour🤩.
In the morning we went to visit Zaanse Schans, and Volendam. Before we also went to Zaandam.
At Zaanse Schans we saw how they prepare the famous Dutch cheese, the Gouda, and had a taste of the various kind of cheese they have. Of course it is not easy to go out from there without buying anything 😊. Then we went to see how they make wooden clogs. Really interesting 👍🙂.
After Zaanse Schans, we went to Volendam. We had a walk along the main road and along the seaside. We ate fish and poffertjes. Really fresh and tasty😋.
In the afternoon, we went to Geithoorn. What can I say... Paradise on Earth!!!... A fairy tale❤️.
Everything was perfect!!! Not only for the beauty of the places and the experience made but also for the excellent driver and touristic guide: Nadhira!!!
Hi Nadhira!!!! Thank you for this great day!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
PS. I can't finish my comment without mentioning Noval, always kind and professional; I would say a gentleman🙂
In few word: Xalam Tours and Travels highly recommended!!!!

This was a full day trip with long distance driving. The tour operator indicated a minivan but guide showed up in a very small car and crammed 4 adults in - quite uncomfortable. Guide was sweet but inexperienced and provided no real historical context - and was silent most of the day. It was more of an expensive taxi ride. There was no planned tour of any of the areas, just a do it yourself attitude. The windmills are worth visiting , but crowded with tourists, Volendam is a charming seaside town, but Giethoorn is 1.5 hour drive from Amsterdam and not worth it IMO.

I apologize you are not satisfied with your tour on the Easter holiday. I tried my best to work this out. I did explain the history of the places, but maybe not elaborated enough. At first, I gave the group the chance to walk around Zaanse Schans and secondly because the group could get lunch separately and later we able to meet in one hour time after lunch. About the transportation, If we have a minimum of 5 people in total, we arrange a mini-van (like the other group), less than 5 people we normally provide our customer with a sedan. You complained that the area was overcrowded, You are completely right about that, we can not control that…. due to the holiday (Easter), People want to see beautiful places just like you. It was also the choice of the group to skip the boat tour (your own idea). And standing in line to get on the boat is normal in holiday time, it will take no more than 10 minutes. I hope you understand the real situation. Kind regards, Nadhira
