      Night Photo Workshop
I booked a 3 hour night photo workshop and am extremely happy with the shots I got. William was an excellent guide and source of technical input. I would be glad to book with him again the next time I'm in Amsterdam!

      Aperture Photo Tour
Today I went on a photo tour/adventure around Amsterdam with William. This is my second Aperture tour as the first was a night tour in Paris. William was very enthusiastic and he took me on a three hour adventure. We took photos in many different places and he worked with me on angles and positions of my photos. He always used his camera to show me how he saw the photo but continued to encourage me to explore my inner creativity to get the best photo. He answered all my questions and he made the three hours go very quickly. We didn’t have any rain but it was a very drab day with few clouds or sun. He told me many of his favorite spots to take photos in Amsterdam so I could go out on my own and explore the city. My wife came along and picked up a few IPhone pointers along the way. I can’t wait to take another Aperture tour. I used a Canon 5D Mark 4 and a 24-105 L Lens.

      Extended phototour with Joke
This was 6 hour tour, so we had time to discuss some theory and then to imply it in practice. Joke is very pleasant young professional photographer with extremely positive attitude to teach me photography. I learned a lot from her particularly the way to photograph people in the streets. I think she did a great job! Thanks Eli

      Aperture Night Photo Tour
I took this tour as I wanted to know where the best places in Amsterdam were for night photos. Joke knew where to go and also provided many great tips on improving my photography. She was very knowledgeable and made the whole evening enjoyable.

      Had a great time!
A photo tour is both a nice way to get to know and see a city, especially when you don't have much time and don't want to wander about randomly, as well as an opportunity to be directed to the iconic photo shots in the area. I was pleased to have Wouter as a guide. He is a professional photographer, and he couldn't have been more accommodating as to making sure I got what I wanted out of the tour. This was my second Aperture Tour (first one in Paris) and I'll be back again as I make my way through the world's cities!

Discovering new places and new techniques
I've owned a DSLR camera for almost 10 years but didn't really know how to handle it. I would simply use the auto settings, that was good enough for me. Going on this tour through Amsterdam was a true mind opener. Wouter and I met at Amsterdam Central Station and got right into my camera. The first part of the tour was him asking me questions. He asked me about what I already knew about my camera and lenses, and what I wanted with my camera. We then went over a short presentation explaining the basics; aperture, ISO, and depth of field. To be honest, at that point it was still dazzling to me but it would soon become clear. We hit the town and made some practice shots. Wouter then explained and showed me how adjusting the settings, resulted in totally different photos. It took me a bit to get used to, but eventually, I learned. Wouter was a great host, patient and extremely knowledgeable. Meanwhile, we walked around Amsterdam. Amsterdam was my hometown for 2 years, so I knew a bit already, but he still showed me some great spots for beautiful photos. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn a bit more about their camera and photography in general. What's better than to explore a city with an expert making your own beautiful photos to show off back home?

What an amazing session with Renzo. I had never done night photos before and Renzo did a great job taking me through the basis, camera settings, etc. Was extra special that he knew all the rights places to go which made the time spent very effective and seeing some beautiful sights in Amsterdam. For sure will look at other cities to do this tour in again!

I am so glad I chose Aperture Tours for my photography tours in Amsterdam.
William and Mick are excellent guides and I benefited very much from their experiences as professional photographer and local residents.

It was great to see the city from different points of view during my three-day stay. William was right to suggest that I do one tour with him the other with Mick. Between them, I was able to cover a lot of ground. On the first day with William, I visited many of the city's "classics" within the canal district which are impressive and always worth another look. The next day, Mick and I explored the artist district in Amsterdam Noord and some residential areas of Oud West.

William's friendliness and easygoing demeanor made the tour even more enjoyable. He is a great listener and we talked about photography and many other subjects. There were other positives worth mentioning. When he saw I had a lot of gear, William insisted that he carry the tripod so I would have a lighter load and be more comfortable. The tour finished early, and it was getting late and jet lag was finally setting in. William offered to walk with me back to my hotel. I was very impressed.

Speaking of which, Mick deserves many thanks for going ahead with our tour the next day despite the persistent rain and stormy conditions. I only had one umbrella but he was hardly bothered by the weather and carried on as locals do. More so, I was amazed we were even able to photograph anything in those conditions.

In the end, both tours were very productive and I came home with a valuable collection of images to remember my time in Amsterdam.

Even though the weather was not ideal (windy and rainy) and my fingers went numb I had a great time on this night photography tour. I leaned a number of new things involving how to operate my camera - one of my purposes for taking tour. Most importantly, I leaned so much more about night photography, and with my instructor William's help, I managed to take some night-time images that I am excited about seeing on my big computer screen when I get home. William was quick to asses my photography ability and tailored the tour to me. He was excited about photography and was a very patient instructor and he built my confidence in a new area of photography for me. I so appreciated his feedback and encouragement to try different settings - to really explore the possibilities. It was a great tour - delivered with humor and patience.

This May, I took the Night Photography Tour with William as my guide. He did a great job adapting to my prior knowledge and equipment. I especially liked his teaching style and his ability to explain where and how I could improve. Last but not least he is also a very pleasant guy to be around and chat to while you're not busy taking photographs :)

The tour was well scheduled to cover all the best light you can get over the course of an evening, and we managed to visit a respectable number of beautiful locations without ever feeling rushed. I came away with increased knowledge and confidence - and of course many great shots, a selection of which are attached to this review.

To sum up: If you have any interest at all in photography, I highly recommend adding this tour to your itinerary!
