About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- FLYHIGH20130 contributionsVan Gogh came to life!Merel was an exceptional tour guide for our experience touring the Van Gogh Museum. She did a fabulous job of weaving the story of Van Gogh's life from start to finish. I felt like I was listening to a book on tape as she described each significant painting and what it meant in terms of his life. It wasn't just art it was a story that came to life through art. I would HIGHLY recommend Merel. She is bright, articulate and passionate about her subject! Book her!!Written October 2, 2024
- Traveler149021054410 contributionsIt was interesting!Anna is an excellent communicator. She’s knowledgeable, interacts well with her guests, and knows how to interact well with her guests in order to make the tour enjoyable.Written October 2, 2024
- sbroockman0 contributionsExcellent Tour of Rijksmuseum with RolfWe had the pleasure of spending two hours touring the Rijks Museum with Rolf - and highly recommend him as a guide. The museum is huge, and we spent extra time there afterwards, but Rolf really did give us a wonderfully thorough sense of history, art, and art history taking us through periods of time and culture - bringing to life the paintings and objects in the museum collection. Rolf also tailored his explanations to our interests and needs. He has studied a great deal - and also brings an i-pad with certain details of images to enhance the tour. Thank you Rolf!Written October 2, 2024
- I4201LEsabrinad0 contributionsMust book tour!My family and I had an amazing and informative experience at the museum with Merel. She is extremely informed and is very friendly and warm, making you feel comfortable as you walk through the massive museum. We all learned so much and saw some of the best art in the world! 10/10!Written September 28, 2024
- Go7838630 contributionsGreat experience! This was my second tour with Carl. He is an amazing local captain! We learned so much of the history of Amsterdam and enjoyed seeing the city from such a unique perspective. I would recommend doing this tour!Written September 27, 2024
- GaryS890 contributionsRolf is the best.Rolf tailors the tour to your interests and questions. He tells you not only how and when the artworks were created, but also why. He was also caring and patient with my wife, who is presently experiencing back pain and find some of the walking and standing painful. Rolf's the best.Written September 27, 2024
- Traveler1146590 contributionsVan Gogh comes aliveRolf was fabulous, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I am not particularly into art - at least not before our experience with Rolf at the Van Gogh Museum. He was able to express his vast knowledge in a way that made the art and the life of Van Gogh seem to come alive. He is the best.Written September 26, 2024
- susansT4005ZW0 contributionsA pleasant day discovering AmsterdamTommie took care of all the details. We travelled by public transportation seamlessly through many parts of Amsterdam. He showed us so many interesting places that we would never have known to go. The historical detail and storytelling was very impressive. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.Written September 20, 2024

- Cathy W0 contributionsExcellent tour of the RijksmuseumWe thoroughly enjoyed our time with Marten. He gave us a curated history of Dutch history and power through the art in the museum. Marten was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He spoke to the art and social history of the times. We highly recommend booking with Marten.Written September 12, 2024
- Walk-a-bout06060 contributionsGreat guidingWe had the pleasure of being guided around Amsterdam for 2,5 hours. Not enough to cover whole city obviously but Sebastian gave us a good overview. He picked us up at our hotel and was very knowledgable and pleasant so we had a very nice walk ending up (as requested) at a nice local pub in De Jordaan. Highly recommended and would definitely use him again.Written September 8, 2024
- Craig C0 contributionsCanceled on short noticeTour guide contacted 2 days prior and said she would not be able to make it. However it seems it was not actually “canceled” until a few hours before so no replacement guide could be found and we missed out on the experience.Written September 6, 2024
- sharonwC8227XM0 contributionsPrivate boat ride with knowledgeable captain/ownerCarl has lived here his whole life and knows the answer to any question you have. He renovated a mahogany boat built in 1915. It’s gorgeous! We went on 3 diff boats rides while in Amsterdam- 2 big tour boats and this private boat. The experience with Carl was great! Highly Recommend private boat!!Written September 4, 2024
- markdT1145DO0 contributionsCanal Tour with Carl and Scott was GREATMy son and I were visiting Amsterdam from Salt Lake City UT for the first time, and this was a fun and informative part of our experience there. Carl met us at the pick up spot and introduced us to our guide Scott. The tour was interesting, fun, and Scott delivered a lot of insight and information about Holland, the Dutch people and Amsterdam in general. Overall a great experience that I would highly recommend. The boat itself was clean and the customer service was spot on. The communication throughout the booking process was prompt and helpful.Written August 30, 2024

Peter was a great guide for our family. He took the time to ask us
and the kids what we like and shared from the beginning everything
that he had in mind for our tour. He adjusted the itinerary to ensure
that everyone was going to be happy. He took us through side streets
to avoid the crazy tourists summer traffic. His stories about
Amsterdam were fun and we learned many things that we did not know
although we have visited Amsterdam a few times before. Thanks for a
great day!

We had a fantastic afternoons walk around the City of Amsterdam, Giovanna was a great host, taking us through areas of the city city we would not have dreamt of visiting. She was very knowledgeable, full of interesting and historical facts. She went over and above our expectations as a host, therefore would not hesitate to recommend her as a guide.

Anna Marie was fantastic! I wanted to go away from the tourist
hotspots and that is where she took me. She was incredibly warm and
friendly and I learned quite a lot about the history and culture of
Amsterdam. I highly suggest a tour with her.

We spent a sunny afternoon with Donnie who showed us around some of
the less touristy parts of Amsterdam and gave us a real flavour of
life in this beautiful city. If you want some real insight into the
people and politics of Amsterdam you will not spend a better few
hours. Thoroughly recommended! David, Mary, David and Sue

We went on a custom King's Day tour with AnnaMaria that was awesome.
AnnaMaria is so friendly, nice and easy to talk to, as well as being
very knowledgeable about Amsterdam, it's history and King's Day.
King's Day is quite crazy, with hundreds of thousands of people
descending on Amsterdam to party. It was an amazing day, all but a bit
hectic. I highly recommend AnnaMaria for your next tour, but unless
you want a super crowded, wild and crazy time, you may want to avoid
King's Day (although it was a once in a lifetime experience!).

Dina's tour was the highlight of our trip. We are a family of 4, two
age 50+ adults, 19 year-old boy and 17 year-old girl. All of us have
different interests. Dina was a hit with our family. Not only did she
provide the history of Amsterdam and guide us through monuments, but
she also shared insights into "Amsterdam today," -- life today in
Amsterdam, current issues, local impact of laws such as squatting, and
more. On our own, we never would have discovered the places Dina
shared with us, nor would we have such an expanded understanding of
the history of Amsterdam and present-day challenges. With Dina, we
explored different neighborhoods, ate delicious food, and by the end
of the tour, we felt like Dina was a great friend welcoming us into
her lovely city. I highly recommend Dina. Our family, including our
teenagers, still talk about how interesting our tour was, and how much
we were able to see in a short time because Dina guided us through all
the secrets of Amsterdam. I highly recommend Dina and this tour.

Buongiorno,
Volevo sapere se il tour si potesse fare con una guida turistica che conosca l'italiano?
Grazie

I am still waiting to hear from the Private Tour re how can i book the tour at $26/person.
Written August 3, 2018
It cost us 25 euros a head for a four people for a three hour walking tour (in fact we spent much longer with our guide for no extra charge). The cost was exactly as advertised.
Written September 3, 2018
I checked availability for the date I am interested and it came with a price $70/person, not $27. I feel now that advertising of $27 per person is very misleading.
Written August 1, 2018
From my experience, it depends the type (where) tour is and how many people; prices vary.
Written August 2, 2018
Hi, if like to know if there's anywhere to leave my 10 kg backpack while I do the walk? Thanks
Written June 27, 2018
Usually not, you normally meet somewhere public, but you can always ask your guide via email. You'd probably be better off leaving it at your hotel, if possible.
