Very complete tour where you learn about the importance of water control in Amsterdam and the whole Netherlands, relevant hints of its history and other very interesting facts from a friendly and fun local guide. The group is well-organized as the group cannot be bigger than 15 participants and first of all the guide gives a few instructions to follow and also an anchor person is elected to assure the group will be safe and always packed. The trip was very rich as you spend a wonderful time cycling mostly over peaceful paths in the nature outside the city and learn by witnessing about polders, varieties of their national cheese (you can even taste them!) and how they make the famous clogs, its meaning according to colors, its different uses, etc. The far you visit where cheese and clogs are made is family run, not a big company receiving lots and lots of tourists on a daliy basis so you can also talk to the farmer, ask him questions about how these items are made... You also can see a traditional mill...
I recommend the tour, for me it was worthy.

We had a great time on this tour despite an uncertain start. Our original tour guide was a no-show, but Frank happily stepped in and while we did not get the 4 1/2 tour, we feel we got as good of an experience as we could have hoped for given the circumstances. We wanted to get out of the city and Frank took us on rides in his neighborhood, and also was able to include a stop at a cheese maker (which I believe is the same one our original tour guide would have taken us to based on previous reviews). The tour operator was very apologetic and refunded the difference between our original booking and the shorter tour, which was very fair. Frank was an outstanding guide and we can't thank him enough for being a great ray of sunshine on a drizzly ride. We highly recommend.

My husband and I wanted to experience biking in Holland but were nervous about cycling in busy Amsterdam. This trip, despite originating in a busy part of the city, allowed the experience. We were outfitted with really nice bikes (3-speeds that shifted beautifully from gear to gear) and headed through the park and were in the country in minutes, no traffic and a pastoral environment. There were frequent stops where our guide, Mikey, colorfully described some of the history and landmarks along the way. She was very attentive to make sure our large group made it safely through any intersections. The stop at the cheese factory and clog shop was interesting, although I would have liked to spend more time on the bike! I would definitely recommend this trip.

This bike tour one of my favourite parts about my recent trip to Amsterdam. The tour guide was great and it was a good mixture of cycling and information about the city/countryside. It was picturesque and felt safe as we avoided the main roads. The four hours flew by. I’d really recommend this to anyone wanting to get out of the main city cycling routes for a while.

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids ages 12 and 15) had a fabulous time on our bike tour! We loved seeing a different part of Amsterdam besides the central canal area and loved getting to experience the city from the seat of a bicycle like a true local. Mike was full of history and fun facts and clearly cares about the enjoyment of the participants on the tour. The cheese tasting was delicious and we were successful in taking some home in our suitcase! This was a definite highlight of our visit!

Would recommend this tour for anyone including families and solo travelers, fun for all ages! A great way to start getting oriented with biking in Amsterdam by setting out from the southern end of the city out to the outskirts of town. Beautiful scenery, an excellent pace and delicious cheese.
Our tour guide was fun, engaging, and knowledgeable. She really made it special.

It's always pleasing to hear that our customers loved their biking trips and the scenery. We strive to make it interesting to both young and old people. You also describe an excellent tour guide. We appreciate hearing that, and we are delighted to have her on us.

This is MUST for every Amsterdam traveler that wants to spend a peaceful, contemplative time away from the city traffic while riding their bike through beautiful sceneries and gaining some interesting knowledge about Amsterdam’s history. Our guide tour Constanza was amazing- her explanations were interesting and she made sure to take the time to answer all our questions (and even take pictures of us!). It was overall a very good experience as a first time visitor.

Quite a chaos at the beginning because of all tours starting at the same time 14:00. I suggest staggering the tours start time by 15-30 minutes. Dutch bikers ride very fast and are more than annoyed by tourist bikers. It is not clear where and how to cross the roads and you have to juggle between tramways, buses, scoters, cars, pedestrians... we had two close collision calls in our group which could have ended very badly.
Other than that,.. the tour was great, especially once outside the city. The cheese maker is a one man show, polyglot, and brings a different twist to the cheese making business. I wanted to get outside the city on a bike to enjoy the view of the polders and that did the trick !

Thanks for your review. Tourism has come back fast in the last 2 months, so we are trying to organise the chaos at the start. From July 1st we have different times and locations to start to fix this problem. Good to hear you still had a good tour when outside of the city. :-)

Myself and 2 daughters booked to go on this tour. Our bike guide was Adonis, he was absolutely fantastic and really looked after everyone, taking into account that people had varying fitness levels. I was a bit concerned about the Cheese part of the tour, after reading previous reviews. Honestly, it was just his humour and he is only one of 5 cheese makers, who make genuine traditional cheese. All In all a really enjoyable afternoon, all the credit had to go to Adonis!! Would definitely do this tour again with him if we ever go back to Amsterdam. Don’t hesitate to book with him.

The city is incredibly compact, which makes it easy to explore some of the parkland at the periphery of the city by bike.

Gus was the friendly and informative guide to our small (5) group. In addition to telling good stories and leading us at a very sedate and pleasant pace, he managed things well when one of the bike chains broke following a small fall.

Highlights of the tour included de Riekermolen and the beautiful landscape area around the Middelpolder. There was also a farm tour with an eccentric and slightly creepy farmer and maker of clogs.

Would highly recommend in good weather.
