I recently enjoyed a historic walking tour of Alkmaar, guided by the wonderful Jen. Her passion for the town's history and engaging storytelling made the tour unforgettable. Stellar amazing fun time with our tour guide Jen! She shared the rich history of Alkmaar and its cheese trading traditions, explaining the customs, the role of cheese porters, and the weighing process. Some of the vendors setup along the route also have delicious 🧀 samples! We also strolled through Alkmaar's picturesque streets and canals. Jen pointed out historical landmarks and shared fascinating stories about the city. Highly recommended!

This was a brilliant experience and Jen got us priority access which meant we had the best location midst the action, and a chance to interact with all the fun characters … We had such a great morning and I relived my childhood memories of visiting the market when I was 8 ! Jen was a fun and well informed and well connected guide and we would really recommend you book this tour. The walk around the city streets afterwards was also special and we learnt lots.

We loved the tour in Alkmaar!!! Jen, our Canadian guide, made it for us a perfect tour unless the rain!!! Nice buidings and good hotels to stay. Just like our The Fallon Hotel!! Perfect to stay!! Alkmaar is a nice place for the weekend!!!

We had been planning this trip over several months. while looking for activities, tripadvisor recommended going to the Alkmaar cheese market and using a guided tour for the best seats. When we were allowed in front of the fence, some people said how lucky we were to sit in the action. Our response was we did our homework and purchased the tour a few months in advance. Jen is a great host. She only allows 6 people during any tour to keep it intimate and no one feels like they can't hear her. She also brought us to a quaint deli for coffee and snacks (not included in tour price). We enjoyed the market and the cheese museum. Get your tickets early, she is a very popular guide.

Jen is phenomenal. A transplant to the Netherlands, but has incorporated history knowledge into her walk and discussion about the area and the cheese market. When the title says small group tour, she only takes 6 at a time making this very personable. She makes the tour fun. Why choose this group over others? She knows many of the cheese carriers who personally invite Jen and her tour group to the inside of the fence. You are in the midst of the action, requiring you to be mindful of the sled and cheese carriers and keep your feet out of the way as they run mere inches from you.

Jen was a fantastic guide. She is a local so not only does she know the area and history but she knows the cheese carriers at the cheese market as well. She was able to get us inside the fence at the market for a close up view and a couple members of our group were even invited to carry cheese with the cheese carriers! What a remarkable and unforgettable experience! Highly recommend this tour!

Thanks to a friend of mine who lived in Amsterdam for several years, my wife and I along with another couple spent a great day with Jennifer. Though Amsterdam has lots to offer, we were interested in getting out of the hustle and bustle to see some smaller communities. Jennifer went out of her way to accommodate us to make our day stress free and enjoyable. Jennifer is a wealth of information and allowed us to enjoy the day at what ever pace we choose, working around some pesky rain and wind. I would definitely recommend contacting Jennifer if seeing a bit of country and small cities is up your alley. You will not be disappointed.

I took this tour with my nine year old daughter who is a cheese aficionado. Jen, the tour guide, made it a wonderful morning touring around the charming city of Alkmaar. Even though it was a cold, rainy day, she managed to keep it fun and memorable. She got us front row viewing of the cheese market and introduced us to several of the guild members. Walking around Alkmaar, she showed us all the places of interest and where to find great food and souvenirs. Would highly recommend!

Perfect way to visit the old centre of Alkmaar and the cheesemarket. We had a great tour with Jenifer who walked us trough the centre to the market, which is an experience! Good explanations and interresting stories. Thanks for the tips for the boattour, shopping and lunch. We had a perfect time.
