- 1Your experience starts right at our Atelier in the middle of Zurich. We, the Dreifuss Family warmly welcome you at our very unique Atelier. Firstly, we will tell you the interesting history of the Maurice de Mauriac brand adventure, explaining you everything from the beginning. We give you insights on how we work and how we produce the very own style of watches. This is followed by us giving you an introduction into the Swiss Watch Industry to learn how it all started. (15 - 30minutes) Then the main part of the attraction starts as you will sit down with our well-educated watchmaker, who shows you in detail how a mechanical watch works. Next, it`s YOUR turn to assemble parts of the watch. You will wear an original watchmaker dress and a magnifying watch glass to do so while our watchmaker is overviewing the process. Photos are allowed to be taken throughout the whole time. In the end, you all receive a gift to remember this exclusive watch workshop.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Can2260 contributionsFantastic experienceFirst let me begin with the fantastic customer service. I couldn't travel across the ocean to go visit the their workshop and Atelier (It will be on my to do list for sure). Leonard responded quickly to all my inquiries and he provided very beneficial advices. Leonard was very professional and friendly. I felt very confident throughout the process of purchasing my dream watch. Now lets talk about the watch. WOW. Amazing work. You can tell that every single details is meticulously thought, everything is perfectly balance. The mechanical movement is flawless. I really love that each watch has its own story. The Red Sapphire Crystal is truly giving a soul to the watch. I’m sincerely happy and grateful to be part of the MDM family. I can only recommend without any hesitation to anyone that desire an awesome friendly and professional customer service that will accompany you during your adventure of finding your dream watch. Thank you very much Maurice De Mauriac. JonathanWritten December 5, 2023
- AndrewJBS0 contributionsFriendly and helpfulThe chaps at Maurice de Mauriac are true watch enthusiasts and run a unique shop with completely the opposite atmosphere to Bahnhofstrasse. Also probably the largest selection of straps ever.Written December 10, 2019
- 782yusefm0 contributionsIf you like watches, this is a must.Daniel (Maurice) and his team are passionate about their craft and equally proud of their loyal clientele, who appreciate the dedication and ethos of the company. This thriving family business was principally created from the founder’s love of watches, creating a sound foundation for what has since become a successful international operation. Nothing is too much trouble, and I always look forward to catching up with Daniel and his team whenever opportunities permit.Written September 29, 2019
- RTglobal10 contributionsMust visit ! ... Maurice de MauriacI'm a pilot with a small collection of finely made Swiss watches. I've been to Zurich many times, but have only recently discovered the wonderful works on offer at the lovely Maurice de Mauriac boutique shop in the heart of the city. If you are a watch lover who enjoys high style and craftsmanship and a truly unique and personalized shopping experience... be sure to visit Daniel and his friends at MdM during your next visit to Zurich! I plan to do exactly this on my next visit! Thanks Daniel... and see you soon! ~ Rich from DCWritten September 16, 2019
- Bertrand B0 contributionsThe best Watches Shop in Shop experience in Zurich. This shop is just fantastic: when I came in, you directly understand that you dive in something special. This is nothing compared to the other luxus shop on the Bahnhofstrasse. MdM dives you into what is a watch atelier, not a shop actually. Daniel (the owner or founder, can't remember) have a story for each of the watches that makes them special. Sorry if that looks to be a creasy testimonial, but I simply became a fan of this brand.Written September 9, 2019
- alvazqueztv0 contributionsDanel will personally take care of you.I met him a few years ago and I have learned a lot about watches, now with his workshop where they teach you how to make a watch, you can travel to Switzerland and return home with a watch that you know all about, now you are part of the process, you can learn how is done. In three hours I could put all the pieces on the watch and know what each one does. it is a unique experience and I want to repeat it. Also he can make a really good expreso. I highly recomended the visit.Written September 6, 2019
- ur700 contributionsAlways a welcome guestAs a Maurice de Mauriac watch owner I infrequently pop by in the Zurich store. Quite frankly always a pleasure to be welcomed by Daniel Dreifuss including a casual chat and being informed about the latest developments in designs. He's a unique character and my next watch will one day be a Maurce de Mauriac.Written September 3, 2019
- markus v. h0 contributionsWatches to fall in love withMdM is not about watches, but about an attitude to life. This already becomes clear when you enter the business: not a cool showroom as with the global brands, but a working space in which passion is lived. No overpaid influencers, but customers who simply love his product. Great Swiss quality, cosmopolitan mood.Written August 16, 2019
- echoes750 contributionsVisiting Zurich? Visit Maurice de Mauriac!!As a watch lover Zurich gives you heaven on earth. All the big houses have their stores at Bahnhofstrasse. But there is on shop that every watch lover visiting Zurich should see, Maurice de Mauriac! Find out what high quality watches made in Zurich look like!Written July 9, 2019
- majiq0 contributionsBeautiful experience!I visited Daniel’s atelier with a friend who wanted to get a watch about two months ago and it one of the most interesting experiences I had in a long time. As well as the stunning watches, his expertise, attention to detail and kindness made this more than a luxury retail experience. This atelier is beautiful space where you can see art, learn about watchmaking and have fascinating conversations. My friend got an exquisite customized piece and I’m looking forward to get mine! Super recommended and cool place even if you are not thinking on getting a watch.Written June 26, 2019
- AdaliaBronfman0 contributionsI arrived without time and I ended up forgetting about the timeI always liked watches and coming to Switzerland is my fetish come true. I can have my authentic Swiss watch. Bought in Switzerland. Made by Swiss watchmakers. Stop me. I go crazy. I did not come by chance to Maurice de Mauriac. All those who know about watchmaking recommend it. What i didn't know was that in the end I was going to acquire much more than a watch (well, 2). Now I have on my wrist a Maurice from Mauriac's' L1, designed by Fabian Schwaerzler. Elegant, subtly manly, minimalist, powerful. A watch with the perfect androgyny, I feel Annie Hall. And in my bag I have an L2, which I plan to give to my boyfriend. Red Passion. Obviously I have to give it to my punctual love. I am happy with my purchase, but also with the unexpected bonus. I am a writer, I love traveling and knowing places, people. Daniel Dreifuss, Maurice Mauriac's owner in Zurich, is the best possible host. His warmth is legendary. I had had an advance when I met Leo, his son, in Paris last summer. What a great personality. But the father…had me at hello. As we have known each other for a long time. Then I understood that Maurice de Mauriac is not only about to watch. MdM is a piece of living history. I was ready to be a client and I became an intimate friend. Going to the Tödistrasse street atelier is, above all, a great experience. The talk, feeling that time no longer exists, everything to the rhythm of ticking.Written June 25, 2019
- yoni h0 contributionsVisiting the atelier of Maurice de Mauriac in ZurichI met the Dreifusses few months ago, while being on a short stay in Zurich. I got the "watch bug" few years ago, while searching for a birthday gift for my brother, so being in Zurich, I looked up for a local watchmaker in hope for a chance to see the watchmaking process from up close. I was happy to found "Maurice de Mauriac" atelier (a brand I knew from articles I've read about and about its founder, Daniel Dreifuss). As I was short on time, I decided to try my luck and go there without knowing if the atelier was open to the public. I was lucky. I was welcomed in to descover a beautiful place and wonderful people, spending over an hour there with Daniel and Leo, seeing their creations from up close and getting a sense of the work process of their unique independent family owned brand. Also I didn't have the opportunity to do a workshop, I was happy to learn that they do have watchmaking workshops for people like me, watch enthusiastics who would love to learn more about "what makes the watch tick" (perhaps next time). I left with a huge smile.Written June 23, 2019

Extraordinary experience to learn first hand how a Swiss watch is made. I had not appreciated the complexity and craftsmanship in my watch until this moment.

Best place to buy a perfect watch with great design. The fist one I bought in 2003, the secont one in 2004, the 3. one in 2008, the other 2 sometime ago ... the last one just now. I love them all. Timeless great design. I visit the store regularly to check new watches, to drink an expresso, chatting about watches ... Once I had a problem with one watch. I gave it to to Daniel Dreyfuss, the founder, he gave me an expresso, after 15 minutes the watch repaired and he only asked "another coffee?". No costs for maintenaince after having the watch abut 8 years. I love this brand.

They did a great repair job on a classic Omega Seamaster, replacing original parts in the service and doing it quickly (2 weeks). Friendly people and good customer service.

We love the watch industry; older vintage watches - usually heritage stories, Father - son, Grandfather - Grandson,
it is for us a joy and a responsibility to fulfill the great work, that the next generation still can use
the icons of the family tree. We love people, we love tradition - we love our heritage of swiss watchmaking.

This week I visited Daniel at his atelier with short notice looking for a new NATO strap for my old watch. Being a watch passionate, before coming to Daniel I visited certain classical and renowned watchmakers on Banhoffstrasse and I must say that Daniel's watches are not inferior in quality, are dazzlingly beautiful, nonetheless, Daniel is humble and very friendly, fun to listen to, helpful, a real talented self-made man.

Though a fan of watches I walked into Maurice de Mauriac without knowing much of anything about the company, it having slipped my radar until arriving in Zurich. But I promptly fell in love--with the brothers Leo and Massimo who are brilliant, fun and embody watchmaking (precision; symbolism; aesthetics; references; family) in the best sense; with the design ethos and language; with the watches as physical objects; with the process of choosing case materials; dial colors; complications; straps--customizing the watch to my own specs. I bought two pieces as I couldn't choose between them, and as gifts Massimo and Leo gave me a discount on the two, a lesson in watchmaking with their horologist Sean who taught me how to disassemble and assemble a movement; a key chain and straps. Between getting to know Leo and Massimo, getting to spec my own watches and learning how to work with them, this was easily the most meaningful experience of my life with watches. And I haven't taken my L2 off since I bought it. It's brilliant. Thank you Massimo, Leo, Sean and Totor the watch Dog for an amazing experience I will always remember, and for the beautiful watches.

The minute you walk in to the store, you will be greeted by the co-owner in our case by Massimo!
Offered drinks, made us feel home like comfortable right away!
Then, we have Til showing us his intricate craft of watch workshop, answering all our questions, explaining it in a way for us to understand, then diving in for a return demonstration!
We were mesmerized by the family like treatment while at the same time falling in love with the watch!
The story behind it, sharing the gallery of their 25th year anniversary which we just missed few days before we arrived .Massimo shared the video of the party in the streets, then the newspaper with a tote bag were enough for us to experience it all!
Our trip in Zurich will not be completed without the watch making with Massimo!
It was truly enjoyable time we have , we will surely come back, all positive experience in every step of the way including buying the watch!
Massimo, pleased extend our gratitude to your dad, Daniel!
We will surely come back and we have no hesitations to recommend your company!
