Fun & informative intro to Zurich sites
The guide was very informative & entertaining. She provided an overview of top city sites. It was a good way to learn some tidbits about the city's history, since we were short on time. Appropriate for kids & adults (though be advised there's some walking up hilly cobblestone streets).

Just do the free tour instead
The tour is not worth booking. Our tour guide Anastasia (?) was very unorganised, spoke too softly, and lacked leadership for quite a big group of people. About half of the people left the tour early even though they’d already paid. The guide was personable but when we were in the chocolate shops choosing a chocolate each it was a shambles and it seemed that the staff at the chocolatiers weren’t expecting big groups which the guide did not manage well. We spent about a third of the tour just waiting around and not being guided. There also wasn’t much information about the history of chocolate which seems like this would be the main point of the tour. Our guide did do the tour on a day when quite a lot was happening in Zurich so it may have been different on a different day or with a different guide. Just do the free tour and go and buy 3 chocolates from the shops for less than £27.

        Enjoyable and insightful
I really enjoyed the tour and I think the tour guides were really friendly as well as knowledgeable in the areas, explaining the history of each places they brought us to visit and bringing life and significance to the country. I think this tour really could increase your understanding and interest about Zurich and Switzerland as a country.

combination of encyclopedic knowledge and warms of the feeling
I like the guide very much. She has great combination of encyclopedic knowledge and warms of her feeling to the city and its residents. She combines many historical info with tales of the city, jokes, and life histories. I've learned a lot but also got a lot of respect to Zurich and its citizen.

        Great tour guide
Peter was great and funny, he has a good sense of humor and lead us to not only chocolate stores but also historical places. Would join a trip of his again.

Thank you Anastasia for a great tour!
Anastasia was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. I came with my baby and she did really try to accommodate us on the tour even though it was hard with the steps. Thank you!

        Needs more chocolate!
This tour is somewhat misnamed. It’s a tour of Altstadt with three stops for tastings - at Sprüngli for Luxumbergerli, Teuscher for champagne truffles, and Läderach for various flavors of tempered chocolate (what you’d think of as Swiss chocolates). So it’s not all chocolate plus you wander all over the place going up and down hills and stairs. That could be mentioned in the description. It was irritating to walk up to Lindenhof (a lookout) only to be told ok we’re going now with no time for pictures… from a lookout! The guide did tell interesting stories, but the group was large and she wasn’t good about projecting her voice or facing everyone so we could all hear. One thing that bothered us was that at Sprüngli, each person picked our two flavors they wanted, then everything was put into one large box, then the guide distributed them in a city square, with everyone putting their dirty hands in the box and touching whatever, including the person who had just sneezed into her hands. For some reason, Annalise obtained one glove at Läderach to distribute pieces, but her other hand touched them anyway and after a few pieces, she was letting people stick their own hands in. On a positive note, Annalise was extremely conscious of nut and other allergies and made considerable effort to ensure each person had something they could safely eat at each stop. This tour should have focused more on chocolate. We passed at least two other chocolate shops that were not even mentioned! The truth is, you could do this on your own; Läderach gives samples anyway, and you could buy your own samples at all of the stops and then some for the price of this tour. A suggestion: you could end the tour with a list of other chocolate shops to visit.

Jonathan gave us a very educational, funny, but above all interesting tour of Zurich for 1.5 hours. An absolute must for anyone who wants to feel at home in Zurich in no time. Special thanks to Jonathan!

The History of Zurich in under 2 hours
Julian was a knowledgeable guide who was able to answer most questions and confident enough to admit when he did not know the answer. He had mapped a basic, but interesting route that was a perfect introduction to Zurich. It covered much of the history, albeit in a roundabout manner that invited questions out of turn. Answers were politely deferred to the correct site. He involved the group and invited people to make new friends. He spoke clearly and concisely with added humour. The giveaway chocolate and postcard (at the appropriate spots) were a great marketing tool. Very professional

      Dec 2019 • Friends
It was a large crowd on Dec 31 2019 at 11am when I arrived at the meeting point for the Free walking tour.
For english speaking participant, Jonathan is the guide. He is not just good looking but he has a good knowledge, engagement and communications skill that helped him to managed the large participant. He make sure everyone can hear what he is explaining during the tour and he proved his statement of “swiss choc is the best” by giving us chocolate to taste. Overall me and my friend are satisfied with Jonathan and there will be a quiz at the end. It’s a fun tour we had at the end of the year with Jonathan. Oh i took a photo with him too! Thanks, erna from

We took the Free Walk Zurich tour with Julien as our guide. I have never been on a free walking tour, so I had no idea what to expect. I would say Julien did a really great job and was very charming and knowledgable especially since he has only lived in Zurich for 10 years have come from France. I learned some things that I had no idea….Lenin lived in Zurich for a time?! Very interesting basic history including showing the group Roman ruins. I would recommend this tour to all as a good overall introduction to Zurich. As I said, I have never been on a free tours, and when Julien mentioned at the end that although the tour states it is free the expectation is that he would be compensated and stated how much a regular tour would cost I was a little surprised and maybe a little put off. It was not that I minded paying, but I would rather know up front what is expected. That is the only negative and why I rated a 4 versus 5.

Our tour was guided by Jacob, and nothing beats the knowledge of a local Zuricher to add a unique flair to the tour itself.
Jacob showed us the pearls of the city, accompanied with interesting stories and general information which ties Zurich with other cities, as well.
I highly recommend joining the "Free Walk" team.
They definitely live up to their reputation.
      Enjoy!

We met Julian for the downtown tour on Monday 24th February. We had a good number on tour and a beautiful day to explore Zurich. Julian was knowledgable, charming and entertaining. He showed us some of lovely architecture as well as sprinkling the whole tour with interesting facts, both past and present. At the end of the tour he explained that, although the tour was ‘free’ there was an expectation that he would receive some monetary reward for his time. This would be at our discretion. Personally I prefer a fixed price. We came away thinking, after what others had given, we had been over generous. We soon got over it, but a standard price would be better. It’s not dishonest, it’s just uncomfortable. Hence 4* not 5! Sorry Julian!

We had a wonderful tour of old town and chocolate shops. I love to learn about history and Peter had some unexpected surprises for that, which was so fun. Also the organizer was very communicative, and when we needed to have a last minute change in guide, it was handled so professionally.
Absolutely recommend! Thank you Maria, and thank you Peter for our fantastic tour!!

We had an amazing tour and were able to see so much in so little time! Liana was an amazing tour guide and kindly and patiently waited for us at the meeting point as we were coming straight from the airport on a layover and had a 1-2 hour delay. We were able to get a very good grip on the history and culture in Zurich despite it being our first time there and only spending 4 hours there during our layover. Liana also had us stop for pictures and showed us places and told us facts that we otherwise never would have found ourselves. By the end of the tour we felt as though we had seen SO MUCH in two hours and now we know that we must come back!

On Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 we had 2 hr private walking tour (3 adults & 2 underaged kids) with a fantabulous tour guide Liana!!!

      Liana speaks multiple languages.
She was very knowledgeable, articulate, well spoken with a beautiful soft voice, but yet loud enough. Liana had an interesting presentation and a deep knowledge of Zurich history, history of a bohemian progressive elite (Café Bar ODEON), Roman sauna, Shagal, etc.
We learned so much from Liana within 2 short hrs and every day quoting her sentences to all our friends 🧐😉 since!
      Thank you 🙏🏻🇨🇭❤️

We had a wonderful experience in Zurich with Ari as our guide. We were 5 couples, 4 siblings/spouses, and our parents celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. Ari was very mindful of our pace and activities. It was quite busy downtown as it was the celebration of Sechselaeuten (End of winter/prediction of Summer). He was entertaining, informative, and humorous. He had his scheduled sites but adapted it as needed to check out the different parades and created stopping points for our parents to rest and sit during the more arduous parts of the climb up to Lindenhof. It was a very personalized way to experience a historic and beautiful city.
