I would not go with any other tours after experiencing "best of Switzerland Tours". Their diligent work to ensure that their customers are safe, aware and satisfied is out of this world.
So glad I chose this company, they are really in it for you and clearly not for the tourist money.
Special thanks to Lars, anja and Veronica - you guys are amazing!

The experience overall was great! Nice guide (we had our tour in English and Spanish). First we had a scenic bus trip from Zurich to Weggis (with commentary by the guide), once we arrived the group left and then we were left by ourselves. We went up and down Mount Rigi in cable car and train. Then we took a GORGEOUS boat trip to Lucerne where we spent the rest of the day until 5:50 pm when the guide and bus picked us up. I would suggest to keep an eye on the weather, it was so foggy that we couldn’t see anything at the top of Rigi. However, the trip was very enjoyable :) I would definitely recommend!

We had a great experience. Mt Rigi has an amazing view of lakes around and you have plenty of time to hike around the mountain, and then to walk around Lucern. Suggest you take only two hours in the mountain and take the earlier train to the boat ride to Lucern so you have more time in the city.
Also we had great tour guide and driver (Koni and Paolo) who made the experience even better.

This is advertised as a “partially guided tour” but I would not go so far as to say that. The “guiding” is a bus ride to and from the locations. There is no guiding for like seven of these hours. We had Antje and she was a good guide! But the idea of this being partially guided is just incorrect, so be wary of that before you book. You are on your own for a majority of the time, need to plan out timing for when to go down the mountain, catch the boat, etc. It was all fine enough, just definitely not what we expected when signing up for the tour.
Now, for the content, Im sure you can find better places to go than Mount Rigi and honestly, even Lucerne. Just the two hours in Lucerne were plenty for us. It was VERY touristy (this Venice, Italy but without the big palace) and just not mind blowing by any means. Mount Rigi was fine and the views were beautiful, but I would not recommend the restaurant at the top. Food is expensive and not very good. It’s cafeteria style and very slow with only two people working on the Saturday we visited. Overall I think you could probably find better tours of Mount Rigi and Lucerne or better places to visit. Our experience wasn’t bad, just semi-underwhelming.

Best-of-Switzerland
Dear 448alanap,
Thank you very much for joining our partly guided tour to Mount Rigi and for taking the time to rate your experience.
We are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. As stated in the description, the tour is accompanied by a professional multilingual guide from Zurich to Weggis and from Lucerne back to Zurich in the evening. In between, our guests individually explore Mout Rigi with the help of a comprehensive information booklet including train schedules, recommendations of sights and activities and orientation maps. While Mount Rigi can certainly also be visited without a tour, the information provided by the tour guide combined with the liberty to explore a destination at one's own pace are the main reason why guests opt for a partly guided tour rather than an individual visit.
Lucerne is a small town with a picturesque Old Town and world-famous sights like the Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument that attract visitors from all over the world. With 80'000 inhabitants and more than 9 million visitors per year, it is undoubtedly one of the touristic hotspots of Switzerland, but has still kept its charm. Switzerland is known for its high standard of living and the high costs associated with it, which is also reflected in restaurant prices, especially so for relatively remote mountain restaurants, which face much higher costs for obtaining and transporting food and beverages than urban eateries. Since lunch is not included in any of our tours, all guests are free to choose between a packed lunch, a self-service restaurant or an à la carte restaurant within their budget.
We hope that you will give us a second chance to show you the beauty of our country on a fully-guided tour during your next visit to Switzerland and remain with our best wishes until then.
Best regards,
Amanda from Best of Switzerland Tours

This was a well organised trip that gave a magical day in Mount Rigi and Lucerne, using a comfortable coach (two decks) to and from Zurich and then the fun rides and amazing views from the cable car, cog wheel train and boat to Lucerne.
This was not a guided tour and in my view combined the best of both worlds - your own time to do what you wanted at your own pace within a well organised framework where all the transport was taken care of and suggestions for where to walk and eat.
Thoroughly recommend.
Note:
1) Mount Rigi is weather dependent- on a bad day you will not have stunning views and will be outside
2) the best views from the coach on the way out are on the right
3) no food or drink allowed on coach, water apart

I booked this trip so we could see the Swiss Alps. I didn't read the description well enough, because I thought we would be in the Swiss Alps, but instead we were at a lower mountain range. There was fog, so we didn't get to see anything. We enjoyed the cogwheel train, but since it was fogged in at the top, and early (mid April) in the season, there was nothing to do or see at the top of Mt Rigi. The boat ride on Lake Lucerne and the town of Lucerne were very nice! Unfortunately the map to meet the bus gives poor instructions and we were unable to find the bus. I appreciate the tour company calling us to help us find the bus, but it was a bit stressful thinking we would miss the bus back to Zurich.

Dear H3463KVtammyc,
Thank you very much for participating in our partly guided tour to Rigi and taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the cogwheel train and the boat ride despite the various aspects mentioned.
Cloudy and rainy weather is typical in Switzerland, especially during this time of the year. For this reason, all our tours take place as planned regardless of the weather. While we fully understand that Mt Rigi is more enjoyable on a sunny day, we believe that taking the cogwheel train and cable car are still memorable experiences despite the weather.
The booklet that our guests receive in the morning has proved to be understandable, but we regret to read that you had difficulties finding our meeting point in Lucerne. Our guides are always approachable in case of any occurring questions, but we are happy to read that in the end everything worked out well with the help of our office team and you found the bus to return back to Zurich.
We hope that you take fond memories of your stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you on tour on your next visit to our wonderful country!
Kind regards,
Ambika from Best of Switzerland Tours

Amazing best of Switzerland tour blew my mind. There was a lot packed in one day. We enjoyed it. We got to see Mount rigi and has two hours to enjoy our time up there. We also got two hours to tour lucerne. Overall the tour guides gave us plenty of time to roam free. On the bus Michelle provided a lot of history on Switzerland and gave great recommendations. Robert took us to mount rigi and Lucern portion. Overall this company is well organized. You won’t regret it, book it ! I took epic pictures also.

This trip was perfect for us! All the big things like tickets and transportation were taken care off, but other than that, we got to go at our own pace and see what we wanted to see. If you like a more structured and guided tour, it’s probably not for you. But those who want a hassle-free excursion with more independence, this is the one!

The trip from Zurich by train to Lucerne and then we took the boat to the place to take sprocket train and two type of téléférique until you come down from the mountain it’s really an adventure either for family with children or couples. I recommend it for any person visiting Switzerland.

Thank you, Mohamed, for your good review of Mt. Rigi mountain. We do offer a partly-guided excursion from Zürich by coach to this lovely destination, but it seems you did the trip on your own by train. We have written TripAdvisor that is seems to be misplaced as you do not review our full day tour from Zürich but they didn’t want to replace it so we just like to highlight it for future visitors that our tour is held by coach to Weggis where we take the cable car up to Rigi Kaltbad and continue with the cogwheel train to the top of Mt. Rigi. Descent is by cogwheel train to Vitznau followed by the lovely boat cruise to Lucerne. Return to Zürich is again by coach. Best regards
