Perfect for a taste of the Alps
With very little time to see all we could, this day trip made it easy to get out for some hiking and exploration. The bus was comfortable and travel time was comparable to taking a train. Note - there is no bathroom on the bus and no eating/drinking is permitted on the bus. Our guides included Lars, Manuel and driver, Luis. All were super helpful and great! Commentary on the bus ride was interesting yet not so imposing that you couldn't comfortably take a nap if you wanted. I noted others commenting on challenges with finding bus pickup areas. I dropped pin locations on my google maps at any needed stop so we could easily pull the best walking route to be back where we needed to be on time. Our group had no issues with everyone returning to the bus on time. We did like having the flexibility to determine how much time to spend in Grindelwald and what train we wanted to jump on to get back to the bus in Interlaken. We do wish we had more free time overall but remember its just a day trip to give you a taste of the Alps. We had enough time to head to the First Cliff walk (where you'll find a bathroom) and then we walked to Bachalpsee (about 40+ min each way). Many restaurants close between lunch and dinner, so by the time we were done our hike and back down in town we were limited to restaurants with burgers/pizza/fries which were a hard pass for us. In retrospect we would have packed a lunch before boarding the bus and enjoyed a picnic by Bachalpsee. We do wish this trip did not have the initial 1 hour stop in Interlaken. It's too short of a stop to do much of anything other than grab a coffee and quick walk and it's an hour that could be added to your free time in Grindelwald. Typically we are not Tour takers but this one was a nice fit into our single available day and we enjoyed scouting a bit for future longer trips. Staff was great and bus was clean and comfortable.

Walking Zurich old town tour, Lake Zurich boat ride and cable car
Amazing tour! Our guide, Gregg was extremely knowledgeable, attentive to our needs and showed a profound understanding of the Swiss culture and Swiss history! Five stars all day long! Thank you Gregg!

      Overall good
Overall tour was good. Bus tour was a little boring. Boat cruise and the Lindt Chocolate factory were the highlights. We didn’t like that the tour didn’t end at the meeting point. You were basically left on your own to figure out how to get back. Thankfully our tour guide Maryann was very gracious and took a group of us via public transport back to near the starting point.

Great day on top of the world!
Great excursion for the day! It went so fast despite the 10+ hour day. Tour guide was funny and friendly. Lecerne was a cute little city and although we had a cloudy day up to Pilatus, we were up there long enough for the clouds to come and go and go some great views.

      Too brief
Started with a bus tour around Zurich. To me, it was too brief. Not enough in-deoth explanation. The areas the tour took us for photo were not that great. The walking tour was too short and did not really explore much of Zurich's highlights and landmarks. The Lindt tour was fine. Overall, wished i could learn more about the city from this tour

      A great day! Highly recommend!
Rhine falls was incredible & I loved all the different levels they offered to view it. We didn’t do the optional boat ride, but probably would have if we had to do it over again. Stein am Rhine is such a quaint city and was fun to see & photograph.

      Ten out ten!
Highly recommend the tour if time poor. The tour provides a taste of the Swiss mountains! The views were amazing & took many photos! We chose to do the chairlift to First Mtn at Grindelwald. The ride provides many opportunities to take views & admire the amazing scenery. Plus the train ride offers further views. The guide, Maria was amazing!

Long, not much there if you don’t do the Mt Titlis tour
Not worth the whole day and price! It’s too far of a trip from Zurich to be worth it. I would take the trains and skip Engelberg unless you are doing the toboggan and Mt Titlis but you can do that on your own and ride the train. Get a Swiss Pass. The tour guide talked loudly and almost the entire trip. Repeated himself over and over. The monastery is not an indoor tour and just the grounds but was beautiful! If you take the funicular there is a short walk into the countryside and comes to a restaurant with beautiful views. Overall not worth the day. If you are staying closer, it’s a nice leisurely day

      Lots of lovely samples
It was fabulous. You are asked (obliged?) to leave your large bags and backpacks in the lockers, but my tip would be to take a small paper bag with you if you can to carry your free samples - it's IMPOSSIBLE to carry the 8 Lindor balls they give you and use you camera/phone (and they will melt in your hands before you can eat them anyway)

The trip was fabulous, the scenery unforgettable and fantastic We are grateful to our guide Varena Saxer for saving us in the true sense of the word, we were late and lost and didn't know what to do. He approached us and not only took from Lucerne but also offered us Titilis. I am grateful to our very kind, knowledgeable and kind-hearted guide Varena Saxer ❤️❤️

The scenery was great and it was such an experience to be that high up in the mountains. The train rides were really good. However, it is a very long day and could be improved if the company would allow eating and drinking on the bus as many people had not had time for breakfast as it was such an early start and had brought snacks. When we did stop for coffee, much time was spent looking for a place to have coffee, so by the time we found somewhere, it was nearly time to get back on the bus. The guide could have been much more proactive in telling people where they could go for coffee and it would have been better if the bus could have dropped us there. All in all, a good day but room for improvement to make the experience better for tourists.

Dear Sue321, Thank you very much for sharing your experience of your trip to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery and would like to go into the criticized points in more detail. With a total duration of 12 hours, our day tour to Jungfraujoch is our longest day trip from Zürich. For guests that do not want to get up early for breakfast, our stopover in Interlaken offers a break from the 2-hour journey from Zürich already behind them and the perfect opportunity to have a late breakfast, to do some shopping or to go sightseeing before proceeding. As the bus stops in the middle of the city centre, various cafés are easy to reach within walking distance. Many of our guests highly appreciate the cleanliness of our buses, which can only be guaranteed by following certain rules of conduct. While we can totally understand your wish to eat and drink on the bus, we believe that it is also a question of consideration for other guests who do not necessarily share your pleasure in coffee and food scents. We hope that you were able to enjoy a wonderful stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you back on our tours on your next trip to Zürich. Best regards, Best of Switzerland Tours

This tour had great views, but that’s just the beauty of Switzerland! I will say that the tour itself was mediocre and not worth almost 300USD. It’s a full day tour and you’re expected to not eat or drink on the bus. You’re given about an hour in Interlaken to eat a snack but that isn’t enough time to get food and then tour around the city. The cable car from Grindelwald and seeing Jungfraujoch was amazing! It’s definitely do-able by yourself and not go through this tour.

Dear mahalways, Thank you very much for participating in our day tour to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe from Zürich. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Bernese Oberland and the Jungfraujoch in particular. With a total duration of 12 hours, our tour to Jungfraujoch is our longest day trip from Zürich. Many of our guests highly appreciate the cleanliness of our buses, which can only be guaranteed by following certain rules of conduct. While we can totally understand your wish to eat and drink on the bus, we believe that it is also a question of consideration for other guests who might not be equally fond of coffee or food scents on the bus. However, our stopover in Interlaken offers our guest a break from the 2-hour journey from Zürich already behind them and the perfect opportunity to grab a snack, to do some shopping or to go sightseeing before proceeding. On top of Jungfraujoch, there are also various restaurants as well as a snack bar available for lunch. We regret to hear that you felt that the tour was not worth your money. While it is certainly possible to visit Jungfraujoch individually by public transport, you would have to change trains no fewer than 9 times (Zürich – Jungfraujoch – Zürich) and would not benefit from the special group rates we offer (total price without Swiss pass: approx. CHF 350.-). Also, having a tour guide with you, who serves as a direct contact person in case of any occurring questions, is a reason why many people opt for a guided tour instead of an individual visit. We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you back on our tour on your next trip to Zürich. Best regards, Best of Switzerland Tours

I visited Switzerland in November of this year. I had booked the Grindlewald and Interlaken tour with them.
My guide for the day was Lars. So this bus was actually going to Jungfrau, however you get around an hour's stay at Interlaken
following this they drop you at gridelwald, where you explore grindlewald on your own and catch a train back to Interlaken
where you wait for your bus while the rest of the group leave for Jungfrau. So the group is spit in two at grindelwald.
However, for me the tour was a partially guided tour as you get around an hour at Interlaken with your guide.
Now when we reached Interlaken our guide lars told us you have around 40 mins, please be here after 40 mins. However he
did not tell us where to go and what to do for 40 minutes. There was a girl and myself who asked lars what to do in this 40 minutes,
lars just told us you can walk by the lake and explore the town. However, as we got slightly lost we missed the bus and we had to take a train to Grindlewald.
Now the day before, I went on the mount titlus tour with Anette on the way to titlus we stopped at Lucerne where the guide told us let me take you to the bridge
so we just followed the guide, after this she told us the way to the church. Also, before this I went to the rein falls tour where Peter my guide
took us to stein um rhein, where he told us I am walking through the town and you can follow me. However, Lars did not do any such thing, so if people are
getting lost under his watch then he is not a good guide. lars I feel need some training. Lars ruined my holiday mood. We are not paying lars to just stand there.
We are paying lars to walk us through Interlaken.

Dear Kushal, Thank you very much for joining our tour to Grindelwald & Interlaken and for sharing such an extensive account of your experience with us! As Interlaken is conveniently located along the journey, we offer our guests a break from the 2 ½-hour coach trip from Zurich already behind them. While there is no guided walking tour of Interlaken, the 40 minutes break gives our guests the chance to stretch their legs, enjoy a late breakfast, do some souvenir shopping, or go sightseeing before proceeding to Grindelwald. Unfortunately, we are confronted with delays daily, which is why all our tour guides are instructed to wait for a maximum of 5 minutes at each meeting point. On your travel date, we had 50+ guests that made it back to the bus in time and by holding the bus for longer, we would have risked missing the train we were scheduled for. All guests are provided with an emergency number on their voucher, so they can contact us in case they are running late. Unfortunately, we had only received your call a while after the bus had departed and we mutually agreed that you would buy a train ticket to and from Grindelwald. A partial refund was initiated the very same day through your travel agency GetYourGuide. According to the tour description on GetYourGuide, the tour is partly guided and accompanied from Zurich to Grindelwald and from Interlaken back to Zurich. For the individual stay in Grindelwald and the train ride back to Interlaken, a booklet is provided which contains comprehensive written information about the itinerary of the day, upgrade options, and recommendations of things to do. Compared to our fully guided tours, this tour is catered to more independent travelers that enjoy exploring new destinations with activities of their individual choice. We are sorry to hear that this incident has ruined your holiday, but we believe we have done the best we could to find a solution to help you make the most of your day. We hope that you will keep the other two days on tour with us in best memory and look forward to welcoming you back on tour during your next stay in Switzerland! Best regards, Your Best of Switzerland Tours Team

I must say this was well worth the price.
The guide was incredible, switched between languages like I dont know what and was very knowledgeable. We felt quite mountain sick but the guide assured us we were ok as he was himself quite sick each time. This is a once in a lifetime tour. Well organised and we are thrilled with it. Many thanks to you Best of Swiss.

Time for a short stroll in Interlaken before proceeding through Grindelwald to the base of the Alps and viewing the north face of Mt. Eiger. The views of the valley, the surrounding countryside, and Mt. Eiger during the cable ride to Eiderplatz were amazing. The cog rail ride to Jungfraujoch was mostly inside the mountain. The magnificent views from The Sphinx atop Jungfraujoch more than made up for the lack of views during the cog rail tide. The Ice Palace was very cool—figuratively and literally. We were treated to more sensational views of the mountains and valleys as we rode down the mountain to Lauterbrunnen to reboard our bus back to Zurich. Rebecca was knowledgeable about the sights along the way and the mountains. An experience not to be missed!

Fantastic day trip up to Jungfraujoch, we departed from Zurich with 2 guides, Eduardo and Su, very interactive, friendly and knowledgeable on the journey to the top.

Check the weather ahead of time as not all attractions at the top are open depending on conditions, still great inside though.

Remember to open up any pressurised food and drink, it could get messy!

We departed Zurich at 8am and arrived back 8:10PM.

This was a great trip. It is expensive at chf 230 per person, however as a once in a lifetime experience worth it. Don’t bother to book unless the skies are going to be clear as there really is no point if you cannot see anything through the clouds. In June it was -2 degrees centigrade at the top so hat, warm jacket and gloves are necessary. We booked our ticket through the hotel and chose timed and reserved tickets but you can just turn up and hope that there is space on a train. It is very busy both on the train and at the observation station at the top.
There is an opportunity to go outside on the observation deck and also to walk and toboggan in a safe place. We didn’t do this but I am sure that there would be a charge for it.
There are plenty of eating and refreshment options (all of which are inevitably expensive).
You change trains at Kleine Scheidegg where there are restaurants and shops and also options to follow trails down the valley, picking up a train part way either towards Wengen or Grindelwald

As someone who has to save up for her annual travels, I gingerly booked this tour due to the sticker shock. But I was only staying for 3 days in Zurich and didn't want to risk getting confused with train schedules on the one day I intended to travel.

The area where the tour buses are located was easy to find. The bus was clean. But the entire trip was made remarkable by the tour guide Vlad/Vladimir. How he maintained a cool, calm but engaging guide for the entire 12 hours talking, coralling the group, checking up and staying on schedule is beyond me. He switched between three languages as he spoke, and knew each of us by face. This tour was well organized, from the driver to the tour guide.

I learned that the price of the ticket was $240 included in this tour and understood the steep price. The Top of Europe did not disappoint. As a bonus, I was wearing a North Face jacket on this trip, not realizing we went up the North Face I think.

I totally disagree with the prior poster and I think we were on the same tour. This tour and our guides were amazing ! While it is true you can’t eat on the bus, there was plenty of time in Interlaken for me to get a coffee. I ate breakfast so I wasn’t hungry at 11. Then at the mountaintop, I went to a lovely restaurant on the top floor and had a great salad for lunch. There was plenty of time - over 2 hours- at the top to sightsee and eat. I would never want to plan this outing myself and totally appreciate the chance to see such beauty all arranged by others. Great tour and great tour guides. I highly recommend it. As to the price, you know it up front. Best tour ever!

TL;DR: this is an amazing, very organized and well executed trip, worth every penny. Do not miss this!

This trip was amazing from start to finish, one of my favorite travel days ever. Derwen was the most amazing guide, she spoke perfect English and was kind and assertive and kept things moving on pace but was absolutely not annoying about it for a second. I have a low threshold for disorganization or wasted time or chaos and this was just perfectly executed the entire way.

The bus ride is comfortable and extremely scenic. Derwen gave great info the entire time. The stop in Interlacken is short but if you want to tour Interlacken do that separately. It was enough for some pictures, a few shops, and a coffee/food.

This tour then heads to Jungfrau and takes you on a high speed gondola part way up the mountain, then on a cogwheel train to the top. This ticket is CHF 200 which is why this tour is expensive, but well worth it. The gondola provided indescribable views, far exceeded expectations. The gondolas are new and high speed so safe and efficient.

Jungfrau is well executed as well. Easy to navigate and plenty of time to do and see everything you want to, but not a bunch of extra dilly dally time. The restaurants there aren’t great for a meal, but they’re fine for snacks to hold you over. I got food at Velo Cafe in Interlacken (**highly recommend**) and that held me over fine.

Most notably, this tour had special boarding and access all along the way. So no lines or chaotic trains, etc. we had separate cars and designated seats and gondolas. It was much better than doing it alone.

The complaints I heard on the tour were that it snowed so visibility was low, and that their feet were cold. Neither had anything to do with the tour itself. Clearly, you’re going to the top of a mountain so dress accordingly. You step out onto snow for a short time if you want a pic with the flag, but you don’t need snow boots by my means. Reasonable walking shoes are fine.

Overall (obviously) highly recommend this. Thank you Derwen for an unforgettable day!
