Highlights
  • Cross the border and see Germany’s Black Forest and Rhine Falls in a day
  • No need for public transport—travel comfortably in a luxury coach
  • Learn how cuckoo clocks are made in the town of Titisee-Neustadt
  • Choose to upgrade and add on a Lake Titisee boat ride (own expense)
What to expect
  • Settle aboard your luxury coach, departing central Zurich for the drive north to southern Germany. Watch the scenery slip past, including Lake Schluchsee, as you approach the picturesque town of Titisee-Neustadt, situated on the edge of Lake Titisee in the heart of the Black Forest.  Your guide makes a stop in town to visit to the prestigious Drubba clockmaker. Step inside the shop and learn about the traditional art of producing cuckoo clocks, the area’s renowned export. During your free time, explore the town independently. Stroll at your leisure around Lake Titisee or take an optional boat ride. Perhaps head to a cafe to taste the region’s signature chocolate and cherry cake, Black Forest Gateau—aka Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. (Activities and food are your own expense.) When it’s time, meet up with your guide and re-board the coach for the drive south back toward Switzerland. Journey through the spruce forests of Lenzkirch until you reach the Upper Rhine region. Before returning to Zurich, disembark at the impressive Rhine Falls to watch the waters of the Rhine River crashing down a 75-foot (23-meter) drop. During a break here, stroll around admiring the scenery and posing for photos. Your tour concludes with drop-off at the starting point in the evening.

It was okay, but just for the Rhine Falls part of the tour
Oct 2019
The lady tour guide seems to get a lot of bad reviews. I won't say she is rude she is just very upfront, she is not super friendly but not a terrible person either. I did not enjoy the Black Forest since it just seemed only a shopping and restaurants area, nothing very scenic here, unless you decide to take a walk in the Black Forest woods. I wanted to go but i felt i was going to get lost and not make it back in time. No one in my tour seemed too interested in the woods area besides me so i didn't want to go alone. I wouldn't recommend Black Forest tour for someone who is looking to see more scenic or touristy things or take pretty pictures. It is just a big shopping area that's it and they sell cuckoo clocks there. I did like the Rhine Falls part of the tour. I had to pay 8 Francs extra, but it was worth it, very pretty and you feel the water falls on you, and you get to go very close to it. Definitely recommend this part of the tour.

Nice Rhine
Oct 2019
The tour guide took the label sticker from my hand to stick directly on my chest, I was very scared. I came alone and was feeling scared that the tour guide touched my hand and elbow or arm a few times.

Black Fores and Rhinefalls day trip from Zurich
Oct 2019
Not worth the money spent. The tour guide was unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Compared to some of the other tours we went on in London and Zurich, this lady tour guide was below par. It was a blatant tourist rip off and the the guide promoted all the shops in Titisee where they would be receiving kickbacks. The cuckoo clock demonstration was one such instance.
The Rhinefalls were beautiful but going by boat up to the Rhinefalls would cost you an additional CHF 8 per adult. We didn't opt for it as it was raining and we were not too thrilled with the way the part of the tour to Titisee was conducted, but the guide actually implied to us that visiting the Rhinefalls area was not worth it unless we took the boat ride! Won't use this Tour company again.

Great Sites - Could Use Some Trip Changes
Sep 2019
THIS IS NOT A GOOD TOUR FOR PEOPLE WITH DIFFICULTY WALKING AROUND. The drive to the different stops is full of some really great scenery and quaint little towns, but the trip should start at 11:00 am. The first stop in Titisee is very nice with a quick 15 minute presentation about the cuckoo clocks before free time to explore. (Reminder - Germany only accepts Euros.) Could use about 30 more minutes there in Titisee, but lots of great food options and fun stores to explore. A very nice little village! The boat tour at the falls is a definite must and makes for some great pictures as you get really close to the huge falls! Starting the tour at 12:30 pm meant that by the time we arrived at Rhine Falls and did the boat tour, all of the shops were closing up so no real time to explore there either. Overall - great locations to visit, a fun day to explore places you otherwise might not have made it to, but with a little changing to the schedule, it could be a fantastic tour!

This day trip sounds nice. However, it is done in a hurry with not much time to enjoy the pretty places.

Stairs!! And a nice little town
The optional boat ride at the Rhine Falls really is a must; if you’ve come this far pay the extra $10 euro each to go on the boat. It was beautiful but a ton of stairs! The town was quaint and we r joyed some gelato.

The locations we visited were nice, especially the falls. However, this trip was mostly memorable for the rude tour guide who responded rudely to my question about the trip. She said that she already explained enough for me to know the answer to my question. Her attitude is not acceptable if she was not a tour guide. It is even more unacceptable when she is. She was even rude to others. I am glad I forgot her name. If I remember it, I would state her name in this review for people who want to avoid such attitude. I took another tour with another tour company (best of Switzerland) and the tour guide was fantastic. It was the mount titlis tour number 2 on the 13th of June 2019. After coming back to Zurich, people couldn't help but to hug her and take pictures with her. Grayline tours should learn from them.
