    And so onwards to Paris
A great account of a great assemblage of athletic prowess is engagingly told. Interesting to see again with illuminating displays the origins of the modern games, with the scene set by a titan of a sculpture of a seated ancient Greek bedecked with garlands and trophies. Baron Pierre de Coubertin being instrumental in re-establishing the modern movement features. With 1896 marking the first of the moderns, in Athens of course. Landmark pioneering participation by women being allowed to compete is outlined. Beautiful trophies and also Olympic flames are great to see. A long curving wall shows the many sponsors of the events. Postage stamps in tribute to the hostings are evocative. As are early TVs and cameras capturing the excitement for the world.

    Plan to be inspired!
We weren't sure what to expect, we felt the pictures online made the museum seem small. This was not the case - this is a world-class museum. The exhibits are highly interactive. They make great use of video and sound to remind us of the majesty of the games. There were many exhibits that were surprising - the costumes worn by star athletes, the medals and torches from each game, the equipment and stunning photos. You do not have to be an athlete to be inspired by the wonderful exhibits. You can get a glimpse of the museum I'm 2 hours but to really take advantage of what it has to offer, plan on a 1/2 day. Also, the exhibits are very kid-friendly. There are lots of interactive stations were your children can test their skills.

    Very Good Museum
I spent about two hours here and felt like I just skimmed the surface. Die-hard fans of the Olympics could spend a lot longer. The museum has 3 floors and covers almost everything you can think of regarding the Olympics. I enjoyed various areas including the the history of the Olympics and some of the artifacts (e.g, Jesse Owens’ shoes). The interactive exhibits on the bottom floor were also very good. My only criticism is that the museum doesn’t effectively address any problem areas or controversial topics. I was expecting special exhibits on the 1936 Olympics and the 1972 terrorist attacks but there weren’t any. The exhibit on Olympic stadiums doesn’t address the challenges that sponsors currently face in terms of the economics of hosting the games. Also, you would think that the Olympics were the gold standard of drug testing and enforcement if you believed their exhibit. The place isn’t perfect but I enjoyed it and learned a lot.

    Brilliant experience
I spent two glorious hours walking around this brilliant museum. I loved all the exhibitions and the rooftop cafe is amazing. If you like the Olympics then this is a must-visit place. The gardens are beautiful with lots of sculptures to admire. The added bonus is the beautiful location on the Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) waterfront where you can then stroll to the gorgeous Ouchy and then catch the ferry to Evian-Les-Bains in France. I will be back!

Great place to spend a bit of time. It is interactive
This museum was pretty great, especially the lowest level that was interactive. We had so many laughs trying to test our physical abilities. If you want to spend an hour or so while in Lausanne this would be a good choice

A must for every sports enthusiast. I drove 2.5 hours and it was worth it. The history of the IOC and the olympic games coupled with the nearest present.

    Well Worth a Visit!
Even if you are not a sports fanatic this place has something for everyone. The history of the Olympic games, the journey of the games and lots of memorabilia associated with the games from the 1920's to present day. There's also a nice interactive section which children and adults will love. This activity lends itself to being a rainy day activity as it is largely inside but it was also an nice welcome break from the hot sun. Highly recommend.

Mostly Memorable Olympic Memorabilia Venue (and the lake view is memorable too)
Joined a tour group visiting this great archive to all things Olympic, but experience marred by hordes of school kids swarming the place boisterously and obliviously. If your visit doesn’t coincide with loud school field trips, then the museum halls present reverential and excellent chronological displays of all things Olympic from iconic sports heroes to iconic Olympic years, iconic medals and mascots, to iconic gear and kitsch. Excellent multimedia presentations and audio guides. The Museum is impeccable and disabled-friendly with a very pleasant visitors cafe and a de minimis souvenir shop. Its hillside location provides a spectacular panoramic lake vista of Lausanne and environs from its well-designed expansive rear tiered floral gardens adorned with interesting sculptures representing the most iconic Olympic sports. A worthwhile visit for sports aficionados.

There is an opportunity not to visit the museum, but to explore the park from the outside, as we did. There are various exhibits outside as well. You can make beautiful pictures yourself.

It was great to wander about
When you are looking for the main entrance do not get out at the main road up the hill as it is really steep walking down and around the building. Go down to the lakeside and enter that way. We took ourselves on a tour through the museum and found it very informative.

    Very informative
I was there with my kids (8 and 6 years) and we learned a lot about the olympic games. Its impressive to see the history and what it means to organize such a game. Its not problem to access the museum with a stroller.

    Excellent Museum to visit
Upbeat and positive museum focusing on the unity that brings the Olympics and Olympians together. Exhibits include timeline and artifacts along with a focus on each location for both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Outside the Museum are wonderful statues, water features, the Flame, and picnic areas. There is also a stunning view of the Alps and Lake Geneva. Take the short walk to the Lake to complete the experience.

We took the Metro M2 Line from Lausanne-Gare station to Ouchy-Olympique metro station using our Lausanne Transport Card, then walked about 10 minutes along the waterfront to the museum. To reach the museum from the waterfront, you walk up a meandering pass through the Olympic Park that is dotted with 43 sculptures that are a tribute to the world of sport that tell the story between art and the Olympic Games. We stopped several times and loved the views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. With our Swiss Travel Pass Flex, we gained access to the museum free of charge (saved 20 CHF per person). We enjoyed learning/exploring the museum and saw the following: first Olympic flag dating from 1913; the torches from every edition of the Games since 1936; sports clothing worn by some of the greatest athletes during the Games; the 180° film entitled “Inside the Race”; a display containing the Games medals from 1896 to the present day; and the Olympic Truce Mural from the London 2012 Games. This is a must do when you are in Lausanne.

Unique and most amazing experience to learn about the history of the Olympic Games, the Olympic Culture, the Olympic Athletes and the editions of the Olympic Games. So rewarding and enriching for adults and of course for students and children. I strongly recommend to school teachers, universities, parents and anyone interested in sports, culture, history to visit the Olympic Museum. Every time I am in Lausanne i visit the Olympic Museum. Very inspiring.

Jun 20: We took the morning train to Loussane from Lucerne and walked from the station along the beautiful Lake Geneva to reach the museum. The museum has something for everyone - there are displays of everything that is associated with the Olympics - torches, stadiums, video walls, jerseys, boots, medals, and so on. But one piece not to be missed is the athletic track outside next to the entrance. This track with lights on the side - the lights go from the start to the end indicating how quick was Usain Bolt on way to his world record. My daughter who is training for athletics was left amazed post this visit.

A bit disappointing; for CHF 20 there should be more. There is history about the genesis of the modern Olympic Games, with displays of mascots, medals, and memorabilia. But it really isn't anything that you couldn't see online, and seeing them in person is not, in my opinion, worth CHF 20.

The Olympic Museum was excellent. The exhibits are full of interesting artifacts and memorabilia, including the history of the games, it's modern development and the sports and athletes. The exhibits are very interactive as well, there are videos and games throughout the museum. The Museum also has a free audio guide you can use on your phone, great for providing context to the exhibits. We spent 3.5 hours going through and felt that was a good amount of time to see it all. Definitely a must see if you're in Lausanne.

You don't have to be an athletic to love this place. Its a place of history and lots of memories. I comes from Olympics fans family, we grew up dancing with Misha the Russian bear and spent days and nights whatching opening ceremonies and games back in the 80's and 90's, I was thrilled to see Misha among the mascots collection, its like a childhooddream coming true.
Beside the 4 floors of history, the museum has a spectacular gardens and view over Geneva lake. You can go for a tour or just have a picnic in their picnic area, you will have a chance to enjoy a collection of art works.

This is one of the best contemporary museums I have ever been to. What a moving experience to see the actual clothing and equipment worn by various athletes over the years! What a moving experience to see the medals and torches. For children, one could spend hours in the interactive displays.

Lunch was amazing and reasonable. But the Museum was even better. We loved every floor that brought back high points of every Olympic as well as the history.

We spent over 3 hours reviewing the exhibits which held our attention. We were surprised at how quickly the time went. In addition the interactive exhibits on the first floor were fun

The grounds are not to be missed. Sculptures are beautiful and the botanical landscape overlooking the lake are breathtaking. Reasonable prices made it a must do

If you love sports, this is an excellent way to experience sports history. I also loved the quotes on the walls, and the Olympic torches were interesting to see. It's not too big, not too small, and has everything you need for a day out.

I don't really enjoy museums but this was brilliant! Very interactive lots of things to see and do. I went with my 15 year old daughter and we both really liked it. My favourite was seeing Torvill & Deans Balero outfits.

The location is amazing - right on the lake the views are stunning.

My hotel (hotel continental) gave me a pass for transport and attractions. I understand this is typical for lots of hotel. It was 16 CHF for us both. Great value you get the metro right to it.
