About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sherpa350653856410 contributionsVery bad experienceUnfortunately, we encountered a technical problem and had to wait for almost 2 hours. However, when traffic resumed, they gave priority to tour groups, many of whom only had to wait for less than 30 minutes.Written February 4, 2025
- ErinP_120 contributionsAppalling - do not trust any information given by their staff regarding refunds for technical issues leading to delays!Appalling!!!! If their staff tell you a refund is possible DO NOT act on this in good faith! Service stopped for a period of time on 29/1/25 from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch. Back log of people meant a total delay of 2.5hrs minimum. Reassured by Jungfraubahnan staff that a refund would be possible we proceeded in good faith back to Wengen to find it was not. At after 2pm with 3 children under 6 we couldn't go back up again. Another staff member said we could change to another day but again this was declined later by the company. In summary, this company shows NO respect to customers, abysmal customer service and NO INTEGRITY! The irony, had a refund been issued with no issues we likely would have paid and gone up again in the following days with no loss of revenue to Jungfraubahnen. Instead we need to escalate to the Swiss Federal Office of Passenger Rights. Respect for choices made by customers in good faith based on information (later claimed to be inaccurate) provided by their staff is clearly a foreign concept to Jungfraubahnen. Financial loss = 300 Franks (600 AUD) Experience of Jungfraughjoch = noneWritten January 31, 2025
- moondial20130 contributionsOverpriced and DisorganisedI was really looking forward to this experience, having planned a detour from a last-minute trip to the Alps after hearing such wonderful things about it. Sadly, it fell well short of expectations, especially given the cost. I booked this a week in advance, and the price was an eye-watering 200 CHF. Even with a railcard reducing it to 150 CHF, it still felt exorbitant. Upon arriving in Grindelwald, I was surprised to find no clear guidance on where to begin. The ticket I received via email was little more than a poorly itemised invoice, and it included no instructions. The website was equally unhelpful. After some Googling, I realised I had overshot the correct stop—Grindelwald Terminal—due to a lack of clear information. Once at the terminal, signage was minimal, and there was no effort to welcome or guide visitors—something you’d expect for 200 CHF. After eventually finding the cable car, I scanned the QR code (buried at the bottom of the invoice) and set off up the mountain. Unfortunately, the weather was dreadful, with a blizzard and thick fog obscuring the views. While this was out of anyone's control, the disorganisation compounded the disappointment. At Kleine Scheidegg, there was no guidance on what to do next, and the staff were unhelpful. After some confusion, I discovered there was a train to the summit. However, the 20-minute journey was filled with advertisements, which felt inappropriate given the cost of the experience. At the summit, there was finally some structure in the form of a guided tour, but this was underwhelming. The highlight—viewing the glacier—was a complete let-down, as the fog made it impossible to see anything. The rest of the tour included a weak exhibition on the railway’s construction (with very little information) and an ice palace, which was impressive but brief. Despite being advertised as a 1 hour and 30-minute experience, it was over in 40 minutes. At that point, my only options were to dine at an overpriced, mediocre restaurant or head back down the mountain—I chose the latter. While the weather cannot be helped, the lack of clear instructions, welcoming touches, or meaningful content does not justify the high price of 200 CHF. Visitors should not have to rely on in-depth prior research to enjoy the experience. Clearer guidance, better organisation, and more engaging content would go a long way towards delivering value for money. I will try this again one summer, as I still want to see the view and hopefully things will have improved.Written January 11, 2025
- RoyK5950 contributionsSave your money; reservation for priority boarding for the Jungfraujoch train isn't necessaryWe were deeply disappointed with our experience regarding the priority boarding reservation for the train to Jungfraujoch. Despite having a reservation, staff provided conflicting information about where to queue, leaving us to join the regular line. The staff member we approached was unfriendly, unhelpful, and unable to clarify the purpose of our reservation. She even suggested we apply for a refund of the reservation fee, which another staff later informed us was not possible. This lack of coordination and customer service is unacceptable, especially for a service that caters heavily to tourists. Improvements in staff training and communication are essential to uphold the company's reputation.Written December 23, 2024
- 89scottv0 contributionsNice weather onlyNot worth the money if it is fogged in, wait till the day you plan go before you book your trip and check the weather. See the pictures below on the day we went when it was cloudy at the topWritten December 19, 2024

- asifnabi0 contributionsJust JungfrauJungfraujoch, Top of Europe is a must see Mountain top in the Alps. Highly promoted and advertised but it is just an average mountain top where u can see other snow clad peaks. The journey to the Top is awesome and commendable, but the top itself is a let down with a hefty ticket price. Don't recommend it at all.Written December 9, 2024
- Jana C0 contributionsAmazing view at the Top!This is a definite destination to see while visiting the Interlaken/Jungfrau region. It was very easy to catch the train in Interlaken and make the connections to the top. The tram is the way to go, the view is amazing to the main train that takes you through to the Jungfrau. Be aware of the altitude it did make me a bit lightheaded when I got off the train. The views were spectacular at the Sphinx and the Glacier plateaus! Well worth the money spent. We did save 25% off our ticket because we had the 15 day Swiss travel pass. That pass is well worth the money spent for your train travels throughout Switzerland!Written December 5, 2024

- 5thOneFromtheRight0 contributionsAmazing and Impressive! It was an overcast and snowy morning that yielded a white, cloudy landscape up at the Sphinx. Still, we loved the Jungfraujoch experience! The exhibits and the activities offered were amazing - something for everyone, whatever age group and interest one has. My husband and i especially enjoyed the ice palace and the Alpine Sensation particularly leaning about the history of Jungfrau. There were families, tour groups, people of different nationalities, and everyone seems to be having a grand time, Jungfraujoch showcases Swiss creativity, resilience, and thoughtfulness. Truly impressive!Written October 17, 2024
- LJFQ270 contributionsA bit expensive, but worth itOur hotel booked the ticket for us and recommended we go first thing in the morning. We were able to make it and take the necessary gondolas/trains to get to the top. We had purchased the Jungfrau region travel pass and all was included but the last leg train up to the top. Although very busy with tourists, it was a beautiful view and coming from the desert, I loved the snow! Again, I'll reiterate how crowded it was but so was everything in Switzerland.Written October 9, 2024
- HL5490 contributionsSpend your money on more enjoyable and less overcrowded excursionsSadly the worst experience of our month long Switzerland trip (which was otherwise fantastic). It felt like a giant tourist trap, like being in a surreal infomercial for watches, knives, and chocolate. Unless you really want to see and feel snow and ice, for the same money you can take several other train and gondola rides in the area that will bring you more joy and better views. The crowds were just overwhelming and ruined any enjoyment you might have gotten from the views at the top. Whenever we saw the little tour flags held up high, we tried to squeeze to the side so we would not again get pushed and bumped into. If you are at all claustrophobic don't go. The train ride from Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg was lovely and the views were beautiful. The change of trains was easy, but after that, of course, you spend most of the ride to the Jungfraujoch in a tunnel. Once you exit you basically get moved along by the crowd, it's not easy to find a spot to just stand and look at the beautiful snow covered mountains, someone will immediately squeeze in front of you. Once you made it outside and get past the thumping club music from the "bar" container, you slowly make your way towards Mönchsjochhütte, and finally, some peace and quiet. Freezing cold, but peaceful, and we were appropriately dressed, which many were not, sliding on the ice and looking very cold. There are snow tubing and zip line options for additional $, and if snow is a novelty, you should definitely do this. With half the amount of tourists there it may have been a fun excursion, but alas, for us it was not. I applaud the marketing team, we fell for the hype, but it was the only part of our entire trip we regretted doing.Written October 8, 2024
- V951PFdavidp0 contributionsGood views, rip off cost, terrible transport, so crowdedI need to say straight away ‘don’t bother’ doing this. I repeat, ‘don’t do it’. Why? Having done an 8 day driving tour of Switzerland I was really looking forward to this trip. I’d been on the Jungfrau website and it told of ticket prices from around 100CHF. When we got to the station we were told we MUST book reserved seats (untrue according to the website) and the total cost each was a massive 230.50CHF. The 100CHF tickets were only if you had special discount passes - so the normal person (me!) has to pay over double - I nearly didn’t go, but I’d wanted to do it for years. I wish I hadn’t bothered. The train to Grindelwald was crowded. We arrived at Grindelwald to queue to get off the train and then a slow walk off the station due to works on the platform. The signage was terrible and we missed the connection for the next leg of the trip. We waited half an hour for the next train, this was then the most pleasurable leg of the journey. We arrived a Kline Shiedigg and transferred to the next train. This was very crowded and hot. We got to the top and it was so crowded you could barely move. People waiting everywhere. So many people (see my pics). It was all badly laid out and the signage terrible. We managed to find a way to the outside, but this was a steep slope covered in ice - lots of people and sliding everywhere. We gave up here. Found our way to the viewing deck - a lot of stairs, then a long walk again fighting crowds and a final lift. Guess what - packed with people. Nice views, not great, I’ve seen much better. Then we started to make our way down. Slightly easier than on the way up, but stilly very crowded. All in all a stressful 6 hour trip that really is not worth it. Don’t bother, save your money for something cheaper and better.Written October 8, 2024

We bought the 8 day pass with the Swiss travel pass discount and it saved us so much money. It was also extremely easy to use (QR code saved on our phones). If you are going to be in the region for any amount of time and want to explore, I highly recommend purchasing.

It is the cheapest option. When we arrived in Lautenbrunner, I went into the tourist office to get advice on how best and cheapest to experience jungfraujock, grindelwald first and a boat trip from Interlake on one of the green lakes.
The answer was very quickly jungfrau pass. For a little more than DKK 2,000 we traveled by train, cable cars, sailed, went on Jungfrau Jock, went up Haarder Kulm, went up Grindelwald First, took the cable car from Lautenbrunner up to the wall. If I had bought tickets individually it would have cost at least 50% more and probably closer to double. Ví just took the big funicular up towards Jungfrau Jock an extra time and down, as it was such a great experience.
There are many more options for using the jungfrau pass, but we tried what we wanted and a few extra things, so a Mega saving.
That pass made our holiday a little less expensive.
The trains run with approximately 1/2 hour service, are good and run on time.
I can only recommend buying this pass.

Jungfrau is incredible and with a little planning, whilst expensive the 3 day pass is very good value for money - particularly with the SBB half price ticket (If people are visiting Switzerland for longer and taking other train trips get do get this pass as well as the saving on the Jungfrau 3 day pass virtually pays for it and all the trains, boats etc are then half price.
Whilst very happy with the pass and what was seen over 3 days a little disappointed in the actual Jungfraujoch experience - very expensive (although covered of course by the pass), with the entire train journey in the tunnel. Seat reservation a complete waste of money as no organisation at ether terminal for this extra CHF10. The views at the top good but not a huge amount to do other than spend money in the shops (Standard Swiss products) and restaurants - no outside seating which is disappointing. The static tour is very average and does not hold much attention.
For a better top of Europe experience would definitely recommend Grindlewald First where there is more activities and without a pass much more reasonable than the Jungfraujoch.

Do NOT buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass unless you think you will visit 3-4 different places each day including the Lakes using Ferry. The trains are not that expensive and the train and ferry costs cannot be added up to $695.23 for two adults and two children for three day travel pass that only works in Jungfrau region. For two adults and two children, the travel pass costs $445 but you have to pay extra $225 to take a train to go all the way up to Jungfraujoch which is the top of the mountain. It is false advertising. It is cheaper to buy half fare with free family pass (children under 16 are free along with a parent) and use the half fare to get 50% off on everything.

Amazing experience once you get there. Unfortunately the train and stations you have to take and travel through are unbelievably badly organised resulting in chaos. Rude and unprofessional staff at Eigergletscher really do not help the situation and quite frankly ruin the whole experience, especially watch out for the red haired lady who's extremely unpleasant.

The tickets were so overpriced for the experience you receive. We did the early bird passes because they were a little cheaper and we had hoped to beat the crowds- but I don’t think that is possible as we were stuffed onto a train to the top. In addition, the experience seems to have lost some of its appreciation for natural beauty to commercialism. There are ads playing everywhere constantly to the point where it is distracting. The walk across the glacier was cool, but the rest of the activities were an additional charge and did not look worth the price. There are many gondola rides to the top of mountains in Europe I would gladly repeat but this is not one of them. In fact, if I could have predicted my experience I wouldn’t have gone in the first place.

Grindelwald relies heavily on masses. Individual visitors and Top4 owners are staffage. 29/30 only groups are brought forward.
It can be done. Hopefully other areas will also upgrade, then Grindelwald can be left to its own devices and mass tourism. Was very impressed with the concept so far. Can no longer recommend it after this experience.

The Jungfrau travel pass is great for getting around. Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen Grindelwald and this is a wonderful area. Note, it includes Lauterbrunnen to Gruschalp to Murren but not anything else that side. All the Schilthorn’Piz Gloria’ transports (gondolas and fu oculars) are at an extra charge and not cheap.
Plus the Jungfrau travel does not apparently cover buses along the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It’s implied buses are covered. So in my opinion stick to the Jungfrau and avoid Murren and the Schilthorn

Got a three day top of Europe travel pass ( it covers the trains and cable cars and one trip up to the top of Jungfrau ). It costs but if you're riding the cable cars and trains which you will do if you're in the area for a few days then it's well worth it. The cable cars generally a quite a long ride and the scenery is stunning. The Trains run like clockwork, are clean and reliable. If you're heading up to Jungfrau and it's sunny, take sunglasses. Also the weather in the valleys doesn't always reflect what its like higher up, I got away with shorts everyday.

This beautiful place is flooded with mass tourism. Wondering how so many, non european, travelers can afford the expensive trip to a Disney like entertainment spot.
Seeing the shrinking Aletsch gletcher is a disaster in the happening.....and makes you think.
We where there around noon. Better to plan a visit in the early morning avoiding the big crowd at a discounted rate!
