Must do if you’re staying in Interlaken
About 40 people on a bus to the Gondola then transfer to the train which travels to the top in a tunnel. The final leg is an elevator to the observatory over 11,000 feet. Hydrate well with water and dress warm in winter. Has well guided tour including outside on a glacier. We had perfect day with no clouds but could be disappointed if weather snowy or cloudy. Could have been a little shorter than 7 hours as we didn’t want to eat in one of their restaurants

    Compact tour of Zurich
This tour gave us the information we needed to orientate ourselves to Zurich and some of its history. We found out details we would never have known had we not booked on this tour. Ana was fab, friendly, informative and fun. The tour itself covered everything, tour of the city, ferry ride and cable car ride up to Felsenegg to some fantastic views. Just the right length at 4.5 hours and would recommend this tour to others. Good value for money

    worth it!
We had a short trip to Zurich and this was the best way to cover the most grounds. Antje was our amazing and insightful tour guide who spoke numerous languages beautifully. She also grew up in Zurich, so she offered facts and recommendations other tour guides may not have been able to. We traveled mostly via bus, with a 15 minute ferry boat and 10 min (up and down) cable ride. The city is breathe taking, I recommend this tour!

    Fun and easy tour
Tour started out on a nice bus; we went through town while our nice and knowledgeable tour guide, Monica, narrated the ride. First stop was at the lake for some pictures and a bathroom break. Back on the bus for a short ride to the old town area to walk around and take some pictures, again while Monica narrated. From there, you're no longer going back to the bus, rather a short walk to the lake to take a 25 min boat ride to Lindt Chocolate. Boat is two levels and covered with food, drinks, and a bathroom. Once you're off the boat, it's a short walk to Lindt where you get about 1 hour and 15 min to go through the tour, eat at the cafe (very good btw), and shop. I decided to stay a little longer. You then catch a city bus, then a Tram back to old town. All in all, great little tour for the money and I'd recommend!

Fun time for a diverse group of ages
It was a crisp fall day and wet but not freezing when we started up. By the time we got to the top it was snowing and we had a fun snowball fight. A warm cup of coffee and a great view before we headed back down, Our tour was just the Cambrio ride, not the hike, but it was a great three hours of enjoyment. The operators were also very personable which added to the day.

    Mount Pilatus was beautiful.
Very nice day trip from Zurich. Great way to see more of Switzerland. Mount Pilatus was beautiful and the highlight of the trip. Only thing I wish is that there a stop maybe at small town or family home/farm alone the way to see how the average person in the country lives.

    Chocolate wasted
I love tours that goes to multiple places efficiently. This is one of them. From the bus tour and walking tour to ferry boat ride en route to Lindt. It was well executed. The “all you can eat “ chocolate at the Lindt was my favorite.

The trip started off okay, the bus sign was easy to find and we left roughly on time. It’s important to know that for this tour they have guests from different tours on the bus which involves stopping at other places not on your tour and picking up and dropping people off which takes time away from seeing Lucerne where less than an hour was given.

Why this tour is one star is the company and tour guide’s response to a necessary change in itinerary. Up on the mountain a few of us from Conrad’s group got stuck on the cogs wheel heading down the mountain for 20 minutes (absolutely terrifying by the way) and the rest of our group made it down the mountain on schedule. We were stranded with Isabel’s group who reassured us that we’d make the boat trip which takes place from the bottom of the mountain to the station at Luzern and includes transport back to Zurich. We were also told Conrad would wait for us and we’d go on the boat together and the only problem would be that we’d arrive late in Zurich which we had no problem.

When we got down we were incredibly tight on time as the last boat was leaving in a minute or two. We saw Conrad and went over to quickly check in and run for the boat when he told us that we either took the boat and no transport back to Zurich or we take a train with him (not mentioned or part of tour) back to luzern and go back to Zurich (no boat ride). We had literally 20 seconds to make the decision and of course we came all the way out here for the 1 hour scenic boat ride so we wanted to go and we didn’t have time to discuss further. One family asked Conrad how we will get back to Zurich if we took the boat ride to which he replied “it’s not my problem ”.

This was absolutely rude and it seemed that we got screwed over because of how the bus has to pick up so many different tour groups from Lucerne so they weren’t willing to delay another group waiting to be picked up in Luzern but were okay with removing a key part of our tour!

We paid over $50 Canadian to head back to Zurich on train from Luzern where we were stranded and when repeatedly trying to get the company to acknowledge this issue and ask for compensation every person passed the buck to someone else and refused to commit to reimbursing us for THEIR inability to complete a service.

So a warning to anyone taking a tour with them, if there are external circumstances that cause even 10-20 minute delays, they will cancel a portion of your tour and if you choose to go ahead (e.g get on the boat) they won’t help you find your way back to the drop off point -Zurich which was included in tour price, even though they stated for the tour they are responsible for you getting to and from there.

And a big reminder is that they will NOT reimburse you for the burdens they placed on you!! Made numerous calls only to be told managers make those decisions and they don’t get back to you anyways!

Dear 606radhikap, Thank you very much for joining our Pilatus tour and sharing your experience with us. On the day of your tour, the cogwheel train had a technical issue and caused a delay of 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this unexpected delay didn’t make it possible for the group to join the last boat back to Lucerne, as planned in the tour itinerary. Covering the activities offered in the tour is one of our priorities. Thus, we offered our guests the chance to still join the boat ride even though this meant going back to Zurich on their own. To compensate for the train expenses and the boat ride for the ones who went back by bus, we issued a partial refund of CHF 25. If you have not received a notification for the refund, please kindly contact us via email at info@switzerland-tours.ch Please understand that waiting longer than an hour to wait for the guests that joined the boat ride wasn’t an option. With a full bus and other guests joining for the return trip from Lucerne, we still have to follow the timing to return on time. While this kind of situations are a bit stressful for everybody, our tour guides are familiarised with their tasks and are trained to keep calm and look after the needs of our guests. Still, explaining the logistics of the program in such an event should have been the duty of the guide, and would therefore like to apologize on his behalf. We will certainly forward him your feedback to avoid similar incidents in the future. We are very sorry to hear that your trip did not live up to your expectations and hope that you were still able to enjoy a great stay in Switzerland. Best regards, Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours

Everything about this trip was awesome! I would highly recommend purchasing your boat ticket directly and they will provide you with a link to book Pilatus directly saving you some money. WAY cheaper! This is a MUST do!! The trip up on the cogwheel train and the views from the top are breathtaking! Came down via cable car/gondola for a different view. Worth the trip!

Very well organised trip by best of Switzerland tours. Pick up from designated location by bus was according to plan, we didn’t wait long in any queue for gondola or cable car, we had 1 hour 45 minutes at the top and the trip down on the cogwheel train and boat trip both well time tabled. Our tour guide Eduardo was excellent. It wasn’t cheap but well worth the money, especially because we had fantastic clear blue sky weather.

If you are visiting Luzern Switzerland, I would highly recommend that you take this tour of Mt. Pilatus and Lake Luzern. It is a half day tour of Mt. Pilatus which is around 7,000 feet above sea level. Your travel up the mountain in lifts and cable cars and down the mountain on a cog wheel train that provides beautiful views of the mountain and Lake Luzern. Near the top of the mountain you have about 90 minutes or more to hike up three different trails to higher perches for better views. There are souvenir shops and places to eat at the highest point of the mountain. You also take about one hour tour of Lake Luzern in a steamboat. My wife and I really enjoyed this well-organized tour.

Overall this was a great package. We did not want a traditional tour, walking around with a large group listening to a guide. So this was perfect. It started out very chaotic, though, because the tour company had multiple busses at the meeting point, and the bus drivers would not answer questions. The guides arrived one-by-one and we stood online, trying to find out if we belonged to the first guide, then the second, then the third and finally the fourth was ours. After that it was smooth sailing. Robert, our guide, gave great instructions on what was going to happen, where to get off the tram etc. The ride up and back from Mt. Pilatus was breathtaking, the views up top even more so. The Lake Lucerne boat ride was on a public transportation boat, which was really fun. The views were amazing. Overall a fantastic package for our needs.

There aren’t enough stars for this one. The city of Lucerne was beyond beautiful. We highly recommend the day trip up to the summit of Mt. Pilatus (7000 ft). We started the trip in a 4 person gondola that goes halfway up the mountain, then switched to a 50 person gondola to arrive at the summit. You will have spectacular views of the lake and the countryside all the way up. Plenty of panoramic views at the top, where there are 2 hotels. This trip includes a breathtaking cog railway ride down the mountain, again with beautiful views of the changing terrain. The trip ends with a boat ride on Lake Lucerne to return to town. The only concern is that this is not a trip for those with a fear of heights. Otherwise, this is an experience you won’t ever forget!

Four of us took this trip in early October 2023. It was a fantastic experience. Gondola ride, cogwheel train, and ending with a boat ride on Lake Lucerne with beautiful surroundings. The experience on Mt Pilatus is one that we will never forget. The clouds move in and out and the unforgettable views are always changing. Don’t pass up this opportunity.

Recently visited Lucerne for our 25 year Wedding Anniversary and scheduled this tour. The gondola ride up was breathtaking and stopping midpoint to opt for the sledding was a plus. From the entire group, my husband and I were the only ones who chose to do the sled ride and it was a blast! Warning the slow down at the end comes with vinyl curtain strips that slaps your face to slow you down. Be prepared! Other than the rude awakening it was still fun and we laughed afterwards. It took us about 35 minutes for this detour and then continued the ride up to Pilatus. It was a great view and ride down the mountain on the cogwheel train. If you do anything in Lucerne , do this! It was a highlight.

We like all modes of transportation and views. With “Mount Pilatus Summit from Lucerne with Lake Cruise”, we got this: A well maintained coach picked us up, then onto a 4-passenger gondola, 50-passenger gondola, views of the Alps and Lake Luzern, a cog wheel train, a short walk to the boat, and a lake cruise on Lake Luzern. I am limited in how much I can walk and Monica, our guide, helped me throughout. The excursion is not a fact-based activity, but rather an easy way to tour, and view the amazing mountain and lake from many different angles. Expect to have the guide show the way – so you can explore on your own. We toured the top of the mountain at 7,000 feet and enjoyed an outdoor lunch overlooking the Alps. What an amazing afternoon. Photo opportunities abound and the rides are exciting. Most excellent!

Really enjoyed our trip. Tour guide was very friendly and kind, spoke to us in English and German, checked our temps, and provided hand sanitizer and sanitizer wipes. He drove us to the base of the cable cars while sharing fun facts along the way, and we all rode up together as a group. After we got to the top, we were allowed to explore and do our own thing until we took the cogwheel train on the way back down the mountain. It was nice to go up and down on different means of transportation to experience both! Then we all hopped on a big boat and had a relaxing boat ride back to Lucerne. All in all it was a great experience!
