My family and I spent our summer holidays in Switzerland last year. When you are already in love with this country in wintertime you cannot imagine how breathtaking is in summer time. Certainly, is a place to visit at any season.
We decide to make a tour from Geneva to Chamonix and Annecy with our 3 little kids by car, as a comfortable option to the bus.
Annecy is widely agreed to be the "Venice of the Alps", and having visited both of them, I can say that is partially true. Definitely you will not find such impressive palaces and churches as in Venice, or the romantic Gondola Boats... but beautiful enough to compare. It is certainly worth getting there early so you can walk along the streets without elbowing and ask for an ice-cream without a queue.
If you have kids, I would recommend saving some time to spend at the Jardin de L'Europe. There's always street music, dance and bubbles to play with, you can improvise a picnic, share breadcrumbs with the ducks and birds, and enjoy the astonishing views of the lake surrounded by mountains.
Chamonix is, by the way, the best place to be: beautiful houses, terraces, bridges, flowers everywhere... Clean and well-kept streets with multicultural people everywhere. The surroundings are amazing: cascades, glacier, lakes, forests... You can enjoy with the cable trains, gondola lift, or just hiking along one of the million trails.

Good morning, thank you very much for your comment. We are glad you enjoyed all the places. Annecy has a charm itself with the canals surrounded and Chamonix is one tof the best place around. Even if you go everyday, you are still impress! We hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. Best regards
