‏Best trip ever we booked through trip advisor, the plan was to visit Chamonix then through Telefrik to Mont Blank , due to snow storm this activity was cancelled instead we visited city of Ancy. Inspite of he disappointment the trip was lovely & we enjoyed the informative explanation by our guide Neil. City of Chamonix is a small town prevable for skirting has hotels , different restaurant's Cafes & shops mainly for skating equipments & souvenir. Currency to be used is Euro . The alternative city was amazing also , specially the winter market . Recommend . NK

We took this tour with Caroline on 5th Jan 2020, she is an excellent, guide, incredibly experience and full of knowledge having conducted tours here for the past 20yrs.

Sadly the Mont Blanc peak was closed due to high winds, but Caroline called back the bus to take us to another vantage point to see and photograph the peak.

The Mer de Glace train and ice caves are a must, because due to climate change and the ever-increasing rate of evaporation, I doubt the glacier will be here in another 10yrs.

Everything ran exactly to time, I recommend this tour and Caroline as your guide.

I was in Geneva on a work trip and had a free day off. Decided to book this tour just post them reopening after covid-quarantine. I was the only passenger, but that was fine with me. The cable car ride was a lot of fun and the views were impressive. I waited in line to Step Into the Void, but being alone I had to request a stranger to take my pic (sadly, it wasn't the best picture, lol), but I'll have the memory anyway.

The train to Mer de glace was enjoyable as well. Wish I took advantage and hiked a bit more here.

Chamonix was a beautiful little town and I enjoyed eating and looking in the shops. My guide recommended Loco Poco a small hole in the wall burger place, and it was sooo yummy. Thanks Evan for the rec! Evan, my guide was right on time for pick up and I honestly was exhausted, but so thankful for the experience.

What a trip! The day started with friendly staff and a comfortable bus journey. We pre booked the cable car and mountain train. Tickers were issued on the bus and made the day so easy. The actuall trip up Mont Blanc is awesome and a life time memory. Views that are breath taking!
Chamonix is so pretty and easy to get around.
The bus back was bang on time and again staff were so helful.
Overall the trip is one not to be missed.

Amazing trip and I loved every part. Getting to see the top of Europe, the amazing ice caves, and the beautiful town of Chamonix was the experience of a lifetime. Our tour guide did forget us, so we got stuck in Chamonix for an extra two or so hours, but honestly, I won't take a star off for it because we just had some fun at a local bar to kill time. Amazing trip!

This trip was worth every franc! Whilst on a break in Geneva, I booked this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't bother choosing the lunch option as there are so many eateries in Chamonix. The tour was well organised, the guide was excellent (charming, knowledgeable and patient) and the group was great. The weather was on our side too so this gets full marks!

We hired a car and drove to Chamonix from Geneve ourselves, and payed for the cable cart up mont blanc ourselves etc. The sight from up mont blanc is truly breathtaking. Bring a coat and some gloves. There are many aesthetic cafes scattered across the town. Where we ate had really good food with a beautiful view of the alps. Chamonix generally is a very, very beautiful place (see photos), and quite unlike any other ive visited. There's also a pretty cool lake nearby which we didnt end up having the time to walk to. Some retail stores within Chamonix include Northface, Patagonia, Napapijri and Moncler, so you could do some shopping. Overall, everything was definitely a worthwhile experience and i would definitely recommend it.

We did the full package to Chamonix from Geneva, the train, cable car to Mont Blanc, and lunch. The view from the top of Mont Blanc was amazing and the cable car ride was fun. The staff at the restaurant we had lunch at were fantastic. As I’m vegan, they made a meal for me that wasn’t on the menu. It was delicious too. Chamonix is beautiful, lots of little shops, bars and restaurants and everyone is very friendly. We would definitely recommend this trip, had a wonderful day.

I was appalled by this tour. I didn't have many expectations from the tour guide during the initial 90 minute bus to Chamonix - I understand there was not much to talk about as the views are mostly tall uninteresting buildings and trees, and so the bus to Chamonix is silent, with a bit of talk from the tour guide to explain the map to you. People on the bus had a lot of questions for the tour guide, however she got annoyed with this and ignored everybody so that she could sit down at the front in quiet for the rest of the journey.
Before booking this trip, I ensured that it would take place from 8:30am - 1pm as I had only booked the Cable Car and I wanted to return to Geneva sooner. The trip says it's duration can be 10 hours, however if you speak to them there is an alternative bus available to take you home. I booked this trip on the premise that I could take that bus home.
As 12pm approached, the tour guide found us to say that the bus had been cancelled. We would be stuck in Chamonix until 5pm and there is extremely little to do there. Once you have taken in the breathtaking sight of the main square and visit a souvenir shop, there is nothing to occupy your time. We had plans back in Geneva and were forced to miss them. We then bought a ticket for a different bus to take us back to Geneva at 1pm, so we didn't have to wait for hours with nothing to do.
I contacted Key Tours to complain about this, as I had clarified in advance that I would be able to return to Geneva to avoid this problem. They stated that I had not selected the "half day tour" option which is why there was no bus at 12pm - THERE IS NO HALF DAY TOUR. The only half day trip Key Tours offer is for Skiing and for Annecy. Essentially their solution to our problem was "it's your fault, you did not book the half day tour" when this does not exist. I did however select "ONLY CABLE CAR" and not "FULL DAY WITH MEAL" and so I would assume that means I did not choose a full day!
After kindly explaining the issue to Key Tours, explaining that we had to pay 30EUR for a bus back to Geneva, they simply shut the doors in our face.

I paid £137 per person for "Trip plus Cable Car" - for two people this cost £274.
To pay for the Cable Car separately is only £55 per person. This would mean that over £80 went towards transport/the tour guide for each person.
As I didn't get to use the bus back to Geneva, I essentially lost £40 and my partner lost £40. Made worse by the added fee of £30 for the Ouibus we had to take back to Geneva.
I would have thought Key Tours would understand and reimburse the £80 cost that we didn't use back to Geneva - but they have no compassion whatsoever for their clients.

I priced it up and to do this tour for two people would be £170. That is literally a whole £100 less than what Key Tours charge - the extra charge literally comes for a tour guide who has nothing to talk about other than meet you in certain places and guide you onto a freaking bus.
Key Tours claim that taking the Cable Car through them is better as it gives you a priority ticket for the Cable Car - this is a complete lie. There are no queues for the ticket booth at the top of Mont Blanc, it's a simple procedure to get onto.

HOW TO DO THIS TOUR BY YOURSELF:
Well, it's extremely simple.
Go to thetrainline.com and purchase a return ticket from Geneva to Chamonix (preferably with Ouibus). You will board the Ouibus at Geneva Bus Station - the same as you would have with this tour. It is the exact same kind of bus. It has WiFi and USB charging and a WC/toilet.
This bus will take you to Chamonix, a 2 minute walk away from the Cable Car. You can then purchase the Cable Car for £55, and queue for it as normal.
You can then go to Chamonix Bus Station and take the bus back to Geneva at your preferred time.
I am sure you could also do the meal and train for a lower cost - however I haven't looked into this but it's worth trying.
Please please don't give your money to this scam company. You can save hundreds of pounds for the exact same and more convenient experience. Don't let this company screw you over like it did to me (and so many others). Nobody wants to be stuck in another city/country because the tour company decided to cancel a bus on their customers. They will say that it's because nobody had a half tour etc - of course they don't when it doesn't bloody exist. Yet they won't even be understanding and refund a fee for something I DIDN'T USE. I have basically given them £80 to transport two people back to Geneva and didn't use it - therefore they shouldn't have it. Their excuse is that my ticket says I was only to return at 5pm - well, I have included a picture of my ticket, and it obviously does not say this. You can see that they say nobody had booked to take the 12:20pm bus back - well I had, when we discussed it that morning!

The trip to Chamonix and Mont Blanc is well worth the views. However, this tour is an utter waste of money, so all future visitors tourists should do themselves a favor and do the easy-to-navigate trip themselves. One can take a bus directly from the Geneva bus station to Chamonix for 22 francs. Walk less than 5 minutes to the ticket booth and purchase tickets for the cable car ride up to the summit of Aiguille du Midi for 55 francs - the views from the top are (literally) breathtaking. You can spend as long as you'd like at the top and then take the bus back to Geneva when you are ready. If you'd really like the experience of seeing a disappearing glacier, you can also buy tickets for the Montevers cog-wheel train for 33.50 Francs. In total, you can do the whole trip for 110.50 francs - still significantly less than this tour costs (and there are often deals for family prices).

So, why would one take a guided tour? We had hoped (and assumed) that we would be benefiting from a local guide, who could tell us in more detail about the places we'd be visiting. How wrong we were...

Our guide for the day was a British man by the name of Neil. In all of my world travels, I have never had a worse experience. He was unbelievably rude, sexist (referring to boys who like teddy bears and girls who like trains as "problematic"), and racist. He openly racially profiled multiple families on our tour, including referring to one family repeatedly as "the Arabs". He did not explain a single thing about the sites - instead, he talked about how global warming wasn't real, harangued us about the schedule as if we were school children incapable of listening, and said that if we didn't "obey" him, he would leave us behind. In fact, he left 14 out of the 24 members of our tour group behind at one stop in the middle of the day.

I have now read innumerable reviews below about Neil, and two things shock me: that (1) Neil is still giving tours after the horrendous reviews, and (2) Keytours refuses to apologize for his behavior and instead blames the tourists. In fact, Keytours suggests that it is not only the responsibility of the customer to demand information from the person we are paying to guide us, but also to pay to tolerate someone who has absolutely no regard for those around him because it's his "personality" or "sense of humor". If Neil has a sense of humor or a personality that so many customers find offensive, he is the problem, not the tourists.

Keytours, you should be ashamed of yourself - you claim to be the "leader of the excursions in Geneva and Switzerland". As a company catering entirely to tourists, it is your responsibility to have your customers' best interests at heart and do your best to ensure that we have an experience worthy of the money we are paying.
