    Impolite stuff in cathredal
I am about to do a complain I am a french and greek citizen and tried to visit the church cathredal at 26/05/2024. When I entered the site i tried to find from where i could buy a ticket. There were a lot of people, guides and groups. I was amazed from the beauty of that church and I took some minutes to look inside. Suddenly an old lady came and ask me if I had a ticket. I replied that I have not and that is the statement she did : "GET OUT FROM HERE (showing me the door) ". I would like to do some remarks regarding that statement. 1. I am not your daughter neither your mother. 2. Tourists we are not dogs or animals to treat us like that. 3. You have a simple job to do with 0 responsibilities. BE POLITE, BE GENTLE, BE PROFESSIONAL. RESPECT. you represent one country 3. If you are not able to do that go to your village and do the dishes A simple : "Please sir you have to buy a ticket in order to be here and i can show you how" would be appreciated indeed" thank you

Do Not Miss the Duomo di Siena
We recommend that you buy the Porta del Cielo all inclusive pass at the Duomo. Depending on the time of day you may have to line up to purchase the ticket but it was well worth the money. It grants you entrance to the Duomo, Crypt, Battistero, the Library, the Museo dell’Opera and the Porta del Cielo. The ticket is good for three days, one admission to each feature. The views from the Porta del Cielo tour are stunning! This is the only part of the ticket for which you must book a time. WARNING!! This tour and a visit to the Panorama in the Museo dell’Opera Are NOT for those afraid of heights, suffer from claustrophobia or those persons with mobility issues—there are well over 70 steps to climb just to begin these two features and very narrow walkways to navigate. Having said that—do Not miss the stunning artwork and views if you are lucky enough to be in Siena.

    Disappointing and expensive
The curation of the visit was severely flawed. Most of the “pavement “ thats billed as one of the highlights is carpeted over. Movement around the cathedral is restricted by so many barriers. The visitor experience is very poor and not worth the €21 charged. The curator needs to rethink his best to display the no doubt very attractive art and architecture that is in the cathedral. The visitor experience at other similar cathedrals is much better organised and presented.

    Spectacular, both inside and outside
A not to be missed call if in Sienna. The outside is spectacular and there can be long queues to see the inside but that is even more mind blowing and well worth the wait. Unfortunately, as I found out, you need to queue up twice. Once to get the ticket and then a second time to get in, I went late afternoon and it was not as bad as when I was there earlier in the day.

    Wonderful
The Duomo is simply amazing, one of the most beautyful I have ever seen. Not very crowded in March. The staff is a bit rude and it is a shame that they found and hired some of the very few unfriendly people in Toscany.

    Italy's most exquisite cathedral!
Italy's most exquisite cathedral! The interior's lofty ceilings, floor-to-ceiling marble mosaics, columns of black and white marble, and elaborate sculptures really left me speechless. There's also the beautiful ceiling in the library. To exchange your pass for a genuine ticket if you bought yours through GetYourGuide, you have to line up on the LEFT side of the cathedral. After that, you can enter the cathedral without having to wait in line.

Staff is Rude and Ruined the Experience
The cathedral is wonderful…a stunning place to see. The staff were the worst I have ever experience. The level of rudeness. If you ask a question they are annoyed at you and do their best to answer in the least number of words or even by grunt. I would not go back. A very complicated and annoying ticket system. The cathedral is broken into all these little parts and you need a ticket for each part. You spend most of your time running around the cathedral trying to find out where to get your tickets because nothing is clearly marked and the staff just wants you to go away.

Lovely cathedral and absolutely huge !
Lovely and interesting visit. We particularly wanted to see the Michelangelo sculptures as we follow these all over Italy. Be careful if you buy the 3 day ticket which allows you entry to Duomo and surrounding stuff like the crypt etc. We were there for 3 days and it made sense and was really cheap ( around 14 E each ) but when we tried to enter the cathedral twice on 2 different days they said this was not allowed! A bit weird as it was a 3 day ticket.

    amazing
We visited the Duomo when there were no entrance fees. An amazing iconic place with works from Michelangelo, Donatello, Ghiberti, Bernini. Incredible mosaic marble floor. Gothic architecture and art at its peak.

    Gorgeous cathedral
This huge cathedral can be seen easily from a distance but as you get closer to it, it becomes hidden by the surrounding buildings until you round a corner and are amazed by its beautiful facade. To enter, you must purchase a ticket (5 euros) to the left of the entrance. There are also other combination tickets that let you see additional parts of the cathedral complex. We purchased the 20 euro ticket that included the rooftop ‘Gates of Heaven’, nearby museum with a great view of the cathedral, baptistery and crypt. The price wasn’t cheap, but this let us fully experience everything that the cathedral had to offer.

    DO IT
NOT TO BE MISSED. Best cathedral we saw in our entire trip to Florence. Highly recommend! Beautiful and stunning outside, interesting inside. Siena is a really great place to visit for a true feel for a mideival town that's not as bustling and busy as Florence.

    A Cathedral unlike any other!
Beautiful Cathedral- unlike any other! The amount of detail that went into every inch of the construction of the Cathedral is incredible and worth the view. Highly recommend the Gateway to Heaven climb!

Beautiful - well worth a visit
Beautiful inside and out, marvel at the marble floors and ceilings and all the frescos and paintings in between. Outside is simply marvellous, sit opposite in the shade and soak up the view. Don’t be put off by the queue, you can order your ticket on line and collect, its well worth it.

I purchased this so my husband and I could see the cathedral quickly during our 1 hour of free time on a day tour from Florence. The problem is having to trade this booking voucher in for the actual tickets. The workers at the entrance directed us to 2 incorrect places so we were wasting time walking and searching. When we finally did find the correct line, it would have taken us about 45 min just to get to the window to be helped. We had to seek out someone to usher us to the front after explaining we had to leave in 30 minutes. Once we got the tickets, the skip the line was quick and the Cathedral was magnificent! Most people are there on limited time tours so my suggestion would be to find a better system with the "quick" skip-the-line tix.

OCTOBER 2019:
I came to this cathedral as part of a tour and had a skip the line ticket, which I highly recommend. The queues were super long and we were early. I was told if I ever return go later in the day as there are less tour groups. It was very busy and hard to get a good look at everything.

Many parts this church had been completed or partially completed by Michelangelo. Frescos, gothic, paintings, black and white marble and mosaic tiles. It was quite amazing to look at all the designs on the floor. The alter was superb. There is a small room with many paintings in it, there are a few tombs and outside be sure to look for the 2 towers with the she wolf and her cubs guarding the venue. There are many figures of Italian history carved into the outside of the Duomo - so have a look at this too.

I would love to go again when there are less people and tour groups.

The interior of the cathedral is truly stunning. The floor is covered with beautiful mosaic works and the many black and white pillars immediately draw all the attention. There are also several sculptures to admire by, among others, Bernini, Donatello and Michelangelo. The circular window above the altar dates from 1288, making it the oldest surviving stained glass window in Italy. The Gothic pulpit from the 13th century is also a real showpiece. You are really short of eyes to see everything in detail.

A Must See when visiting Siena or even Toscana, in our view as worthwhile as the Florence Duomo.
We had the ticket including the „cielo“ and it was very much worth the price. The inside of the Cathedral is beautiful with works of art on the walls, windows and on the floor We did not see some of the floor art because it is been uncovered in the summer. A plus, compared to the Duomo in Florence is that you can sit and enjoy the beautiful architecture & Art and the atmosphere. Including in the ticket is a free audio guide whixh can be downloaded on your phone

Extraordinary cathedral, really impressive. A free audio guide (via smartphone web app) accompanies the tickets and you can do your own guided tour. Online reservation let’s you skip the line and also gives you flexibility as it is not bound to a certain entry time.

We only wanted to see the Gates of Heaven and we were made to purchase the full ticket €20 each. Got there on the day with 30 minutes to spare. We were refused entry because we had been issued a ticket for a different day. Tried For me lessons for meto rearrange and thought we would be able to undertake the tour, but was refused again. Went to the ticket office to complain. Staff and management very unhelpful. No tour and no money back as we had entered the church.
Moral is the church has been taken over by money men. Jesus would be visiting to turn the tables over.
Lesson for me check the ticket even if you know the ticket seller understands you.

The staff that is selling the tickets are rude, seems that we know what we want to buy. The security guy on front of the cathedral is not better than that staff that is selling the tickets. Rudeness on the God House. The only thing positive is the beauty from the cathedral. You buy a ticket and still need to pay 0,50€ to use toilette is this a joke?

The security team were so welcoming and helpful it started the tour on a happy note. We had booked the Gate of heaven tour. We climb the spiral stair case which was eliminated by the filtered light from the alabaster windows. This delivered us to the ceiling vault from we're we could look down into the main transept like everything we saw it was stunning and a very special experience. Note: this would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues claustrophobia or far of heights: but oh so amazing! The Bernini statues in one of the side chapels are incredible and the piece of floor that was exposed looked like a carpet from above until I realised it was inlaid marble. Our tickets also included the museum, the crypt and the baptistery, such good value.

The Dumo in Siena is very special. The marble floor of the church and its amazing library are 2nd to none in Europe. The tour we took of the upper levels of the church as great - spectacular view of the inside of the church as well as the whole of Siena. Definately recommend the guided tour. The museum next to the church which contains many religious and cultural artifacts from the Dumo are stored and displayed there - dont miss. The only negative point i must add is the overall rudeness and don't care attitude of many of the staff at the Dumo. I realize this is a very busy site, but too many staff are not well trained in customer service, and it shows in the way they treat visitors.

This one is a must see. It’s huge and very ornate. In February it was not very crowded which allowed an easy time looking around. It’s one of the best churches that I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot. Prefect.
