- virginiacrofts12300Sunset Siena tour- Wine, food, sights and fun- Highly recommendedOn our fourth visit to Siena and without a car we wanted to explore the beautiful Tuscan region as easily as possible. Tuscan Escapes was a great find. Our guide Kiko was very experienced, efficient and managed to bring our group of 8 together over the wine tasting and dinner as if we were old friends. A comfortable mini-bus took us first to Monteriggioni then on to San Gimignano-the gelato really was excellent- and then taste local wines at a small family-run winery in the hills of San Gimignano. A stunning location, an excellent discussion about wines, Italian history and more followed before dinner in a private home. A beautiful 4 course meal, accompanied by more wine and a safe return to Siena by 11pm. Could not recommend this tour more highly and full credit to Kiko and Tuscan Escapes for providing a real Italian experience.
- U6261YZrandyp00Awesome day! What an amazing tour! Elio made it so much fun. The best day of our trip by far. We loved the wine tasting and all the beautiful views.
- diBiella5100Great full day tour with excellent guideWe’ve been to the Tuscan region several times but mostly enjoyed the cities and larger towns. We’ve always wanted to tour the wine region and some wineries but driving a car and deciding on which stops to make and how to navigate it all was something we weren’t keen on doing ourselves.. Mission accomplished! We booked two full day tours and for this one Guillermo (Will) was our authoritative and fun guide. Courteous, simpatico and a wealth of information on the area, wines, culture, …you name it. We had originally booked these tours through a third party and when we needed to make changes to our itinerary we went directly to Tuscan Escapes staff who were so easy to work with. Montepulciano and Pienza are not to be missed. The Val d’Orcia is as iconic and beautiful as anything we’ve experienced. We would wholeheartedly recommend Will and Tuscan Escapes for the quality of tours they deliver. We still have a couple more tours we’d like to do the next time we’re in the region.
- 622kerrys00A wonderful getaway to the Tuscan countryside and a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Italy's busy cities.fThis was an amazing tour! Our guide, Juliana was so knowledgeable about the history of the area and especially the wine. She was very personable and the entire group really appreciated her. San Gimignano was a wonderful little town with great history. Juliana stopped at the ideal place to capture a picture of the city skyline. The wine tasting was wonderful. Filipe was the winemaker and was very passionate about the wine they were making. The fact that they mix 9 grapes for their Chianti was impressive but when he explained how they shade the grapes by hand to ensure they all ripen at the ripe time you could see his passion for the craft. Our Italy trip ranged from Venice to Rome but Siena and especially this tour was the highlight of our trip.
- Randi J00Holiday in San Gimignano, Volterra, & MonteriggioniThe guide provided an historical perspective with extensive knowledge. A wonderful day of food, wine, and touring that we highly recommend.
- maryllmoon00Lots of fun!Wonderful experience! Our guide, Elio, was excellent. He was amiable and congenial as well as knowledgeable. He was also flexible, allowing us to pursue our particular interests, even though we had to break off from the group at one point.
- Inspire2171262684300Our day with Keko’ our guida fantastico’this was the perfect day adventure in chianti country with our knowledgeable and friendly guide Keko with Tuscany escapes, planning another trip now!
- cathyd20800Tour with JulianaWe went to Pienza and Montepulciano with Juliana yesterday. She was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable!
- William W00Great tour with great guide! Our guid Claudia was wonderful! She explained all the sights in detail and answered all our questions. Definitely worth the time and money!
- andreeav53100Amazing experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️First of all, out guide - Guillermo, is a funny and friendly guy, with a passion for Italy, history and not only! 🥇 On this trip we visited a small town for coffee, then Pienza with the amazing views (here we took the lunch at a local farm with great pecorino selections, pasta and a delicious dessert). At the end of the trip we hit Montepulciano where we enjoyed the wine tasting and Guillermo was very kind to response to all questions that the group had about the wine, grapes, different kind of soils, olive. I highly recommend this trip! Big 👏 for the idea to do small groups!
- 957sineado00Highly recommendBrilliant walking tour with a fantastic guide - Amber. She gave us loads of information not just about Siena but italy as a whole. I'd highly recommend going with her. Siena is a gorgeous city.
- deenamh201700This tour was one of the best! This was a very small group tour, about 7 of us in total, and that makes it very personable and fun. Our tour guide, Guillermo (William, Bill..) was awesome, making sure we learned a lot along the way. We were blessed with seeing a couple of added bonuses: the small town and castle of Montereggioni, and lunch at an agriturismo in the countryside! Montereggioni is a hidden gem. Very small and quaint, but worth a quick visit. It's very walkable and so pretty! My sister and I really found it to be a great surprise! Heading on to San Gimignano was also great! This was the second time we would be visiting this town, having already visited it once on another tour, so we were more familiar with what we wanted to see. Guillermo gave us ample time to visit this place, so we climbed the tower to see the Tuscan countryside. What an extraordinary view! Tuscany is just so beautiful, and seeing it from the top of an old tower was the icing on the cake! Guillermo had been very kind in stopping outside of San Gimignano before we arrived, so we all could get a great picture of this place. He was very accommodating and patient. After San Gimignano, we were treated to an incredible lunch at an agriturismo place I believe, with our charming hostess whose place grows saffron! Her property is gorgeous, overlooking the countryside. All of the food is organic, and we were fed like family! We learned how to harvest saffron and how it grows. What a wonderful experience this was for us! We then continued on to Volterra after lunch, and we were given time to look around this lovely place. The Roman ruins were fascinating, and this town really surprised us. The roads were larger than other Tuscan towns we had been to, and it appeared to be a good size town with about 10,000 inhabitants. I would like to come back to Volterra in the future to see it again! Guillermo also treated us to a visit to an alabaster factory in Volterra with a gentleman who has been making alabaster for over 45 yrs! We saw the process, the effort, and the dedication that goes into creating some beautiful pieces! It What a talented man he is! I highly recommend this tour and I have to say that Tuscan Escapes did an amazing job! Please take this tour as you will be rewarded with amazing once in a lifetime experiences!
- DIANE W00Must see!Our guide was wonderful. She was very informative and we learned a great deal of new information. She gave us a lot of history that was very interesting. This was a great tour to learn about Siena!
- Nomad1777320799400Spectacular Day in TuscanyA lovely drive with stops to take photos. Our guide, Giovanni, was excellent, telling us past history and present facts about the area. Time to explore Pienza, Montechiello and Montepulciano. A wonderful lunch w wine at a working farm, and a stop at a winery along the way.
- Lisa L00FabulousOur guide Martina is fabulous. She was very knowledgeable. She provided facts and details that made the tour even more interesting and it already was.

Wonderful full-day tour from Siena to Montalcino, including visits to the village, a nearby abbey, and three very different wineries. We received an extremely informative, hands-on tour of a very small winery (Giacomo was fantastic), enjoyed a fantastic lunch at a second, and visited a new multi-million dollar wine cellar at a third, and we enjoyed tastings of Brunella di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino (among our nine total tastings) at each of the three wineries. Best of all was our guide Daniele. Not only is he very knowledgeable of the region and its wines, but he demonstrated an excellent rapport with the hosts at each of our stops and he was a most pleasant person with whom to spend the day. There were a total of five guests on our tour, and I felt comfortable relative to sanitary/safety protocols.

I had a wonderful time touring Montalcino with Mattia. He was an all-around expert who had over two decades of wine-making experience himself, and he led us to several different wineries over the course of the day, all while explaining the region and the wine. As a wine novice, I appreciated his "good wine is the wine you like" attitude.
The value for this tour is incredible. Not only do you get an expert tour guide who drives you everywhere, you see multiple famous Montalcino sites and have about 10 glasses of high-quality wine over the course of the day. That's not even mentioning the incredible homemade lunch we had as well.
I can't recommend this enough. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, and when it got chilly, Mattia even lent me his own jacket! This is an incredible way to experience the region and its famous wine.

We spent 9 hours with Guillermo and 5 other travelers visiting three small Brunello wineries. Guillermo was fantastic! He was enthusiastic, talkative, knowledgeable, and fun. It felt like spending the day with a friend, and he was eager to answer all our questions about wine, food, history, and Italy in general. Highlight for us was a marvelous homemade lunch with winemaker Simone and Lucia in their home. Lucia served us Antipasta, pici al ragu, and a delicious just baked apple cake while they served us their 2 brunello red wines and a sparkling rose. It was a wonderfully relaxed lunch. We were able to order wines to be shipped to the US (about 250$ for 6 bottles, shipping included). I highly recommend this tour to see the Tuscan countryside and learn about wine.

We had a lovely, personalized tour with William, who spoke excellent English and made brilliant historical connections.
Our first stop offered an education in organic and sustainable cultivation of the grapes as well as the fermentation process.
Our second stop, at the family home of Simone and Lucia, for a home cooked lunch and lively chitchat with the owners, have us an emotional bond to the entrepreneurial spirit, stubbornness, and desire to develop new ways of managing a winery and creating experiences.
Our third stop was an education in the nuances of vintage variations, corks, bottling processes, and a surprise success of a wine that almost wasn’t.
In between the wineries, William brought us to a monastic abbey where we found an herbal pharmacy similar to that which Romeo obtained his deadly dram.
We finished the day in a field of sunflowers.
William was funny, knowledgeable, and caring of our comfort. He was a safe driver, and the travel van was clean and comfortable with a good air conditioner, which was important on our 96 degree day.
I highly recommend William and this tour.

I did this tour with my mom and husband last week. Our guide Checco was awesome! He shared so much information about Brunello di Montalcino and the surrounding region and he brought us to 3 wineries that we really enjoyed. The group size was perfect- not too many people, so the tastings still felt intimate. The wines we tasted were fabulous and we bought several bottles to enjoy during the rest of the trip (and a case to ship home). Our guide Checco was very friendly, he was a safe driver, and he was very patient with me as I practiced my Italian and asked him countless questions about daily life in Tuscany. He also didn’t stress or rush us when it became clear that our tastings were going a little longer than planned (I <3 “Italian time.”) I would definitely recommend this tour!

We had the best time on this tour of beautiful Montalcino. Our guide was incredibly informative and he spoke about the wine with passion and knowledge. The tour consists of 3 tastings at beautiful wineries (with a lovey hearty lunch at one), visit to a beautiful church, and time to explore the town. The price is well worth the experience. We would love to take other tours with the same guide the next time we’re in Italy!

This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Georgia, was personable and very knowledgeable. We visited three Tuscan wineries. They were all small family run wineries. The small size of the group made for a very intimate tasting and we were able to spend time talking to the wine makers. We also enjoyed a fantastic lunch at a Tuscan farmhouse, accompanied by wines made by the owner. Trip is highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys wine. Our only problem was that it rained all day.

Excellent to discover the wonderful wines of Montalcino, from the Rosso to the famous Brunello, and also the more recent Rosés. The winemakers were all very eager to share they knowledge and their love for their craft. Interestingly two of the winemakers me met that day were following the principles of Biodynamics. They were all very generous with the amount of wine served during the tasting.
The lunch was pleasant, and relaxing in the shade of oak trees in the garden of that old Tuscan farm with a view of the surrounding fields was immensely enjoyable.
Davide, our guide and driver, was a lot of fun, and was very informative about the land we were in and the wines we were about to discover.
And to top it off, it was an excellent way to socialize with the other members of the group, so I highly recommend it for solo travelers looking to meet new people !

We could not thank William(Guglielmo) enough for a fantastic trip in Siena and Montalcino. This trip was worth every minute! William was fluent and knowledgeable about the Tuscany region and kept us entertained throughout the day. My husband who doesn't drink wine was utterly impressed by every winery we went and what they could offer. All 3 wineries were amazing and they were small producers which we really appreciated. We learned a lot and we met some fantastic people in our group which made our day even better. I would 100% recommend this trip for those who would love to learn about one of the top notch wines in Italy... if not the best.

This was a fabulous day out in the Tuscan countryside. Our guide Guglielmo was fantastic. Not only did he bring us to 3 great wineries but he had tons of historical info about the region and the Italian/Tuscan people. We had a brilliant lunch outside in the sun with perfectly paired wine. We also made a brief stop at a quaint old town, Montalcino and a historic Abbey. Would highly recommend!

If we were to book either Sept 5 or 6 what is the latest time that we could start the tour? We would be coming from Amelia and need to accomodate travel time and dropping the car.

I'd check with the tour operator but our tour started around 9:00am and we were back around 6:00pm so it's definitely a full day and you wouldn't want to start too late.

Hi,
we are six Swedes, staying in Panzano at Villa Le Barrone. Could we book the Montalcino Tour on the 14th of May- departure in the morning, back in the evening?
You mention only five guests would be ok in the van. Is one more person also ok?
Thanks,

The description of this is an 8 hour trip. If the drive is a little over an hour to the first destination, a short stay, then a short drive to the other destination with a 40 minute stay, then an hour back to Siena, why is this an 8 hour trip?

We stopped five times - three wineries, a town, and an abbey. One winery included lunch. So with driving between it easily added up to a full day.
