Nice to see the country side and had a delicious meal at the seaside. Really lovely couple own this business and couldn’t do more to help us. For a small charge they lent us a locker and cycle bag. We made our reservation well in advance and in the month before our rental, Elena always answered all our questions promptly. The same was true in the store, where Elena and Mário made us feel very welcome, and we felt very safe when it came to eventual assistance. We did 200 km in Tuscany with impeccable bikes. The folks at the bike rental are so accommodating, adding a basket on the bikes for our packs, letting us use a lock so we could play on the beaches, keeping our bikes and things safe! They are so sweet and caring. The ride is SPECTACULAR! So safe because you are on a flat, paved path just for bikers, roller skaters, runners, and walkers…no cars allowed on the path! You will see cattle, chickens, farms with produce, and a spectacular marina, with huge yachts, and a backdrop of HUGE mountains. So beautiful! There are endless places to eat right on the water, folks on paddle boards, and gorgeous views of the shining sea with waves crashing and a nice sea breeze! My partner and I booked the city bikes online the night before and got a 10% discount which saved us $5.5AUD each which all adds up. The French lady serving us was really friendly and helpful and spoke English which was convenient for communicating.
The process was very straight forward because I had already paid online it was just a matter of collecting the bikes (which had 3 gears, although Pisa is mostly flat so we didn’t need to change gears at all), getting the bike lock and key and signing a document and giving the lady my drivers licence as a hold, which I felt a lot more comfortable doing than giving my passport so I’m glad they had that option or I wouldn’t have bothered.
We had so much fun on the bikes for the day, the roads are pretty safe to ride on and you can pay a bit extra for a helmet if you want but helmets aren’t mandatory in Pisa. The return process was just as straight forward with us giving the lady the locks and key back and the lady checking the bikes briefly for damage and giving my license back. Overall a very easy and fun experience at a reasonable price.

Smile & Ride is a 5-minute walk from the station, we were warmly welcomed and helped to download the app on which the route is clearly indicated by numbers after a little getting used to, even if you have to go left or right. The bikes were excellent, even much better than other rental companies and we enjoyed the bike ride and saw a beautiful and different Pisa than just the leaning tower. We highly recommend this company and they have various options to explore Pisa and the surrounding area by bike. When we returned we pointed out a nice bistro in the center for a snack and a drink, our day couldn't get any worse. Chapeau for Smile & Ride and when we visit Pisa we will definitely come back for a different route.

Very kindly helped. Great explanation about using the app. This is really user-friendly with spoken explanations of the highlights you visit on the route. Great bikes with acceleration and good handbrake. Rent comes with extra lock and separately I was able to rent a phone holder for the steering wheel

This activity will never be forgotten and left us loving Pisa for the memories it made for us. The bike shop is ideally located to the station so is perfect if you're visiting for the day or coming from the airport like us. They were great is getting us set up and let us store our things. It was lunchtime, and they recommended a brilliant Italian flatbread place to check out which really kick started our holiday. We asked what if we eat and go over the 2 hours, to which they said there was only a small 5 euro per hour additional fee if we did. The tour is easy to follow and doesn't involve any major busy roads so there is nothing to fear. We even missed the odd turning and could correct ourselves easily. There are plenty of spots to visit which is a great way of getting it all in during a short period of time, although we unfortunately had to rush it slightly as there was a torrential downpour which left us drenched but in hysterics with on lookers smiling and laughing with us. We would have loved to have spent longer out on the bikes with no pressure on getting them back on time so we could visit some sights in more detail but the weather didn't make this possible.

Our family group of 6 adults took this ebike tour in May. The bikes were in perfect operating order. We were given instructions on how to operate the bikes, and assisted with the download of the itinerary app. The manager was friendly and extremely enthusiastic and accommodating. Following this iterary at our own pace allowed us to see some charming parts of Pisa beyond the Piazza dei Miracoli. This was a wonderful experience from start to finish!

Fun to ride bikes at our own pace without a guide to interrupt our pace.
We were able to see interesting places away from the crowds at the leaning tower of Pisa.
The disadvantages are that it was somewhat difficult to follow the map at times and we seemed to end up retracing the same trail except that we were on the opposite side of the street, and not every trail is bike friendly. At times we had to bike on the congested streets and through some very crowded pedestrian traffic. So if you are willing to take a few risks biking in crowded areas n enjoy biking at your own pace, this is a good adventure to try when in Pisa.

Sometimes can happens that pedestrian roads are crowded so it's good you find a different way to ride around the town.
Hopefully there are several other streets where you can ride to discover Pisa and sometimes it's nice to enjoy biking at your own pace, a guidelines of the itinerary can be helpful but not always necessary to be followed piont per point! Thank you for visiting us! Hope to see you again!|

As a family of five ( three children aged 14, 11 and 8) we hired bikes to cycle around Pisa - what a great experience and definitely the best way to see the most of Pisa, especially with children! Smile and Ride were so helpful and the app they provided was easy to follow allowing us to see the best sights. I would highly recommend! Ps a great price as well.

Firstly, and I can’t stress this enough, if you’re coming to Pisa and have not yet seen the Leaning Tower, do this ride first. It is a fantastic way of seeing the rich culture of Pisa you think is reserved for Florence, Lucca etc as you zip in and out of side streets, circumnavigating the walls, happening across huge piazzas and cycling down the Arno and then, when you think you’ve seen it all ( which as we all know you haven’t) you just “arrive” at the Leaning Tower. It is such a fantastic way to see Pisa.
Secondly, this was a our second year here renting bikes so we decided to try out the newly created cycle path which takes you all the way to the marina and beach. The U.K. should absolutely take note. Pisa (and most other Italian cities) are geared up for cyclists. This route is completely flat all the way and off road for I’d say 95% of it so would be great for those less cycle savvy or families.
The owners of Smile and Ride are wonderful. They can’t do enough for you and all the routes are on their own app which you download to your phone and make it a breeze to follow. I cannot recommend these activities highly enough. Ditch the guide book and get on two wheels -you will not regret it!

We (1 adult & 2 children from 9 and 11) rented 3 bikes for 3 hours. We were looking forward to see more from Pisa besides the tower. Unfortunately one of the bikes got a flat tire and the downloaded city guide app from smile & ride caused confusion because the line colour of the direction to follow and the aquaduct in the map both were blue in our app. Because of this we lost direction and a lot of time. Besides this the road we had to drive on because of this was busy and a dangerous for kids. We have given this feedback to Smile & Ride. Both the flat tire and the confusing app were reason for a disappointing experience and lost time. We expected a kind of compensation but the only thing mentioned was they were sorry and wished us a pleasant stay in Italy...

Dear Carlo, I premise that none bike rental gives you assistance coming to the place where you are, for flat tires! by the way, I closed the shop and I came to fix the problem in the way you could continue your ride, normally in case of flat tire you have to refund also for the inner tube, because this sometimes can happens, and it's not our fault but we didn't ask you anything for this. You also arrive one hour later and we didn't charge anything for this time more.
Second problem you had: you lost direction using our self guided tour that we offer free of charge to our customers, this is FIRST time something like this happen. You follow the blu line of the channel because in your smartphone the colour was similar to the itinerary.
I think for the problems you had we made the best we could do to solve them, we are sorry you didn't notice and you wanted a compensation too...
