About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jeff J0 contributionsVery beautifulWe really enjoyed our day visiting Cinque Terre. The tour was well organized, very professional, and the ride was comfortable. Everything was so beautiful! It was mid-November during our visit so some shops were closed for the season, but there were still plenty of things open and the crowds were smaller.Written November 24, 2024
- jerryr8720 contributionsWines and Dined in TuscanyThis tour made for a very special day. Our fabulous driver brought us to small towns and wineries that we would never have thought to visit. Gave us a real sense of local history. Wineries were friendly and tasty!Written March 16, 2024
- OnAir5234900 contributionsSan Gimignano and Volterra with wine tasting private tour! Fabulous! My husband and I just returned from a month-long cruise this fall through the Mediterranean. We had been planning all summer and one place we really wanted to get the most out of was the hills of Tuscany. We did not want to take the cruise tour with busloads of people. We wanted a more personalized experience, easy access, and less chaos during the day. Also, wine tasting was high on our list of things to do, as well as visit the medieval towns and drive through the amazing countryside without rushing. After much reading of reviews, we settled on Bellaitaliatours for San Gimignano and Volterra with wine tasting. We are so happy we did. They provided us with excellent communication so we knew where we needed to be, who was picking us up, and what our itinerary would look like. Right on the dock of Livorno, at the exact specified time, we met Massimo, our driver. We feel we were so lucky to get Massimo for the day. He is so knowledgeable about the area and wine, having been born and currently living in a nearby historic town. He was also a sommelier and an expert on olive oil production! He provided wonderful history and tales of the places we passed through and the towns we visited. He was fun to talk to and his English was excellent. Before we entered each town, he gave us a map, and suggestions as to what to see, do and eat. Our last stop was on to Fattoria di Pancole winery where we met the owner who was so kind and hospitable. The wines, especially the Baracca 1903 and Dogato reds, were amazing. We would love to go back, because when we toured around the grounds, we saw they were also a resort with a beautiful swimming pool and 8 apartments to rent! So close to San Gimignano too! The ride back to the ship was so relaxing, because we knew and trusted Massimo would get us there with time to spare, and he did! I highly recommend Bellaitaliatours, and especially Massimo. You will have an amazing time!Written January 5, 2024
- AlanD5670 contributionsAn experience of a lifetime!I highly recommend this tour if you want to experience Tuscany. Massimo ensured we had the experience of a lifetime. His knowledge of the area, good sense of humor, professional manner all made it a memorable experience for us and he went out of his way to customize the tour to our needs and interests. We joined him on the tour as a professional tour guide and left him as a friend. We look forward seeing him again on our next visit to the area.Written October 15, 2023
- rickl8290 contributionsSan Gimignano and two Chianto region wineriesBellaItalia worked with us to design a tour that included two wineries and a visit to San Gimignano. The driver, Massimo, picked us up from our ship in Livorno at 9 AM and hurried to make sure we made it back by 5 PM. In between, he shared with us his love of his country and the region. San Gimignano was a gem with its the beautifully preserved character. We allowed Bella Italia to pick two wineries and were not at all disappointed. We came away with a wonderful appreciate of the signature wine of the region, Chianti Classico, and their olive oil. This day and this tour stood out as the best of our trek through Europe. We cannot recommend Bella Italia enough.Written August 14, 2022
- anaroseg0 contributionsAmazing Personal Wine TourOur Tuscany wine tour was the highlight of our vacation. We shared the experience with another couple on our cruise ship, and it was one of the best experiences we had on an amazing vacation. Our tour guide was waiting for us upon arrival, and whisked us away in an air conditioned van to San Gemignani. Fun and informative, we made our way through the countryside for some of the best Gelato on our entire trip. But the wineries (and food) were the real experience. Our first stop couldn't have been more perfect - a private wine tasting and meal cooked on a small family winery. You have to save room, because the cellar wine tour on the 2nd stop ends with even more tasty treats and more amazing wine. If you are looking for a private wine tour from Livorno - this is it.Written July 30, 2022
- Lea P0 contributionsFabulous day, great driverMassimo, our driver, became our friend during our full day with him. He's so classy and so friendly. Follow his advice on how to maximize your tour! Our family of 6 had a perfect taste of Florence and Pisa. Thank you!Written July 6, 2022
- David K0 contributionsSmart use of limited time arriving by cruise shipWe arrived on the NCL Epic. Wanting to have some control over our time rather than the cruise tours, we decided on using BellaItalia. This turned out to be a GREAT decision! A minivan with driver was booked for the day to transport 6 adults. The driver was excellent and provided fun and interesting information as we made the drive from the port to Florence. He even shared jis favorite gelato spot and coffee spot, both of which added fun to our day. Our driver and van were easy to find as we entered the port building. The van was a recent model Mercedes in very good shape making for a comfortable drive. BellaItalia arranged for our museum tickets in advance and all went smoothly. We made changes to our schedule through the day as distractions made for some enjoyable opportunities. Having a private driver made this possible. We HIGHLY recommend BellaItalia and will use them each time we are near Florence. Thank you to the entire staff at BellaItalia for a wonderful experience.Written May 9, 2022
- Tamara J0 contributionsWonderful driver and tourThis was the perfect choice for our family of 8 (parents with children 24, 24, 14, 12, 11 and 9). The vehicle was clean and plenty of room. The driver shared stories of the area and his Italian family along the way. We wanted to have flexibility with when we went from ship to Pisa to Florence and back, so this allowed us to go on our time table. The people helping me book answered by 100 questions (first trip to Europe for us), too. Wonderful experience and terrific driver and company.Written November 11, 2019
- Jack B0 contributionsA relaxing way to experience the coast. My wife and I loved hopping from port to port on the ferries and seeing these incredible towns tucked into the steep hillsides. Just a real relaxing way to see these sights. It really was like stepping back in time, so cool. Our tour guide Luca was awesome. He was informative, patient and made sure to answer any questions we had, while keeping us on a reasonable pace so we could enjoy the day. We would absolutely do this again. Oh, and had the best food of our trip in the last stop. Wow!Written September 3, 2019
- SailChicago22170 contributionsWonderful Chianti Classico and San Gimignano TourWe arranged a personal tour of the Chianti Classico region with two wineries, lunch, and a visit to San Gimignano. Our tour driver was Massimo. He met us at the disembarkation point of our ship (since he is licensed to enter the Livorno Pier). Massimo is a true gentleman, very informative, and has a great sense of humor. As a trained Sommelier, he is passionate about excellent wine and the Tuscany/Chianti Classico region. We visited two excellent family owned wineries that are not accessible by the large tour bus wine tours the ship arranges. Our favorite winery was Casa Sola. Maria took us on a tour of the winery and vineyards, explained the organic-biodynamic methods the winery embraces, and the painstaking process to make excellent wine. The winery prepared a wonderful lunch that was advertised as "light", but included cheese and meats, salad, bread and winery made olive oil, and lasagna. The wine and olive oil were so good, we arranged for the winery to ship 2 cases to our home in the U.S. San Gimignano is a gem of a walled village. We would love to return. I would not hesitate to book a tour through BellaItalia Tours. There is good reason they are rated #1.Written September 1, 2019

- Richard B0 contributionsGreat tour of the Cinque Terre, Florence and PisaWe started with tour of the Pucci residence in Florence followed by stops in Vernazza and Monterosso (both in the Cinque Terre). Originally we were going to take a boat to the Cinque Terre, but the sea was rough that day so we took the train from La Spezia. Our tour guide, Elisabetta Ferrero, was really great and she shared with us a lot of insider information as we traveled through Tuscany in our 7 passenger mini-van. The trip finished up with a visit to the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa and the world's most famous tower. I highly recommend taking a tour with Elisabetta and BellItalia!Written August 6, 2019
- amyzgold0 contributionsPerfectly Planned Trip to Cinque TerreWe really enjoyed our tour today of Cinque Terre with Marta. She did a nice job of telling us what we were seeing, and keeping us informed about the tour logistics. We took a train to the first town, and then three boat rides to the other towns. The towns we saw were vibrant and fun. We’ve been in Italy for a week and this was our favorite tour.Written June 1, 2019
- Pamela M0 contributionsBeautiful countryside and memorable day! This shore excursion was the highlight of our Mediterranean trip. Yes, it cost a little and was worth every penny. Just my husband and myself, along with our wonderful tour guide, "Max". It sprinkled all day long, but that did not hinder out wonderful day. Can't say enough about how comfortable and at ease we were on this day. Felt like we were being entertained and shown around by a family member in another country. 1st class all the way.Written May 23, 2019

Private driver and tour guide for full day trip from the cruise ship docked in Livorno to Cinque Terre (4 passengers).
What a great day - exactly as planned.
Our driver Massimo was waiting for us on the wharf. Massimo was very friendly and a fountain of knowledge. We picked up our tour guide Romina along the way and were dropped off in the first town along the Cinque Terre coast.
We spent the day travelling by ferry from town to town. Romina was fantastic - she handled all the ferry ticketing, filled us in on the local knowledge and gave us plenty of free time to immerse ourselves into the local culture.
We were met in the last town by our driver Massimo who returned us back to our a ship.
A private tour is definitely the way to go.
Thanks to Massimo, Romina and all BellaItaliatour staff for helping plan our tour and ensuring we had a fantastic day.
Keep up the good work.

It wasn’t the greatest weather day, but we had a wonderful visit at 4 of the Cinque Terre towns by ferry. We travelled from Livorno in a comfortable mini van. Timing was always spot on and Luigi made sure we were front of the line on the ferries. It is a very busy tour, but even though it was my 3rd time visiting the towns, so worth it!!! Luigi and his trainee and driver did a fabulous job. Remember to check their “Small Group” shore excursions menu if you’re just a couple. Thank you BellaItalia!

We were on the Norwegian Epic & stopped in Livorno.
We were a group of 14, ranging in age from 16 to 80. Emilia & Luigi were our private guides for the day. We had two comfortable minivans. We first went to Pisa to see the tower, and then went to Cinque Terre. It was amazing - well-organized & fun. Emilia handled 5 teenagers with ease!
The drivers were great as well. I loved being able to customize it to exactly what we wanted, with their input. The office staff was great as well. We really enjoyed our tour.

Jul 2017 • Friends
We visited La Spezia in July of 2017. We arrived via our cruise ship. We decided to book a private tour/car so that we could maximize our short stay in La Spezia. Upon arrival to the cruise port, we were greeted by our guide, Alessandra, and our driver, Amelia. They were both very friendly and welcomed us to their town. Our first stop was Portovenere. We had never visited Portovenere so this was a nice surprise, as Portovenere is a town that we would definitely consider visiting again on a future visit to La Spezia. We didn't spend a lot of time there, and we arrived very early in the morning so many of the stores and restaurants were closed. This was a bummer, as we would have loved to grab a bite to eat and do a little shopping during our visit.
After visiting Portovenere, we drove to Cinque Terre, five territories, where we visited 4 of the 5 territories. We visited Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Monterosso and Manarola in this order. The only territory that we didn't visit was Corniglia, because to access Corniglia, you must climb 379 steps. We ate lunch in Monterosso at a place called Il Casello. The view was amazing, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. My friend and I ordered the trofie pasta, which came in a pesto sauce. The trofie pasta is local to this area. My husband ordered the seafood and spaghetti, but it wasn't as flavorful as he had expected. During our visit to Cinque Terre 3 years ago, we ate at another restaurant in Monterosso, and the food was "to die for!" We were disappointed that we tried this restaurant.
Although our tour guide and driver were very nice, we recognized that we could have done this entire tour by ourselves by taking the train from La Spezia, for a fraction of the price. We paid $165.00 for three people, and there was nothing, other than transportation, that we received from the tour that we couldn't have accessed on our own. Do your research so that you can inexpensively explore the absolutely stunning Cinque Terre on your own.
We love CInque Terre, as this was our second visit. Again, we would just recommend that you tour Cinque Terre own your own.

We had a wonderful day with our driver Stefano, and our guide Luca.
We found the booking process to be easy and efficient and they were always responsive to my emails.
Stefano was waiting in the port o time to pick us up. He did a great job driving approximately 90 minutes to Cinque Terre. He was so friendly and easy to talk to.
Luca was waiting on our arrival and did a super job guiding us through 4 of the 5 villages - a lot for one day! He knew the hidden spots and best photo spots. He knew many people in the villages and there were lots of friendly greetings along the way. He managed our train and boat tickets with ease which made it so much easier for us to move about. This is especially important for people who are not confident to do this themselves. We really appreciated a good use of the time to help us see the most that we could in one day. When our time at the villages ended, Stefano was waiting for us to make the drive back to the ship. He even had water bottles waiting in our seats.
We are so happy with the whole experience and would definitely recommend BellaItalia for your tours. Grazie!

We pre booked this tour with another 2 couples for our 1 day in Liverno from our Mediterranean Cruise. Our driver Danielle & our guide Rosella were waiting upon our arrival. Rosella was really great. Very friendly, knowledgeable & accommodating.
She took care of getting all our train/ferry tickets and showing us the main attractions & pointing us in the direction to explore some on our own.
Would definitely recommend this to maximize you time & see the main attractions.

My husband and I booked a private Cinque Terre tour for one of our days in Tuscany. Our driver and tour guide were incredibly sweet and accommodating. We were picked up at our villa and driven to Riomaggiore where our tour began. Our guide expertly managed us through the other tourists and lines on & off the ferry. She was perfectly balanced between showing us around and also letting us have free time alone to explore. We would have been lost without her and due to her expertise we were able to visit the cities with enough time to soak them each in. Thank you Bella Italia!

Marta was our favorite guide while we were visiting Italy. She would explain the area and point out things of interest then let us have free time to explore on our own. She was so wonderful to each of our fellow passengers. She made time to get to know us and when asked about a particular wine, she actually contacted a friend of hers to get me the information! Our group was small...7 in all which made it so much more enjoyable. The villages are lovely and are best seen from a boat which we were fortunate that the weather was great that day. Thanks Marta!!

I DESPERATELY want to go on this tour! I walk slow as I am recovering from a knee replacement. Questions:
Can you walk slow on this?
About how much walking do you do?
Is there a lot of walking on hills?
