- 1Museo Nazionale del BargelloStop: 60 minutes - Admission includedThe guide will start off with a little history of Bargello Museum, which used to be the headquarters of the Capitano Del Popolo and later of the Podesta (the lord of the city), and how the palace became the residence of the head of the police and later used as a prison. The guide will escort you through the museum for you to enjoy the very important works of art kept in Bargello. The ground floor rooms display the Tuscan works of 16century. The guide will particularly focus on four masterpieces by Michelangelo: Bacchus, the relief depicting a Madonna with Child (Tondo Pitti), Brutus, and David-Apollo. Along with the local and expert guide you will then discover the works of Bartolomeo Ammannati, Benvenuto Cellini, Giambologna up with his admirable Flying Mercury and listen as you admire many other treasures like works of art enriched by the Carrand collection. - N6339AKcharlest00Michelangelo's final resting place.Guido was excellent , he was passionate, a great storyteller , knowledgeable and it was a great experience because the tour was just me and my wife. The church was gorgeous and there was so much history there, i'm surprised more people don't talk about this church. Michelangelo , Galileo and Machiavelli are all buried here. Me and wife were super impressed at Guido's breadth of knowledge and confidence at such a young age. One of the best things about this tour is it was one of the least crowded and shortest ones we did.
- 2rhynes00Great sandwichesThe name of the shop is a little misleading as I had one of the best sandwiches there!! There are several tables in side so I sat in the window and got a huge chicken salad sandwich and yummy potato salad.
- Dreamer59628800A first rate tourWe took a tour of Santa Croce with Dan Harper. He was great! The tour was Free. You pay for your ticket to the church and he asks for a small donation for the church. He gave a 2 1/2 hour nonstop tour and took pictures of each tour member with your phone camera. He has a wealth of knowledge and shares great stories and historical perspectives about the church and those buried or assumed to be buried in the church. Did I say the tour is Free. Dan can be reached at danharperflorence@gmail.com.
- Reynoj500Best Tour Guide in The City and an Amazing BasillicaMy wife and I came to Santa Croce to take a quick look around and take a few photos. We we told that the church closes early, do we decided to go anyway and take pics of the outside. I asked a gentleman standing out front if the church was opened and he told me that it was. His name was Dan Harper and he offered for my wife and I told tag a long on his free tour that he offers. He was so kind to do so, and we could not pass up the offer. The tour is abiut 2 hours and 30 mins long and I wish it was longer. Dan was an incredible tour guide and is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the church. It is fascinating to learn everything, but Dan bring everything you see to life with all of the details and insight that he give you. Do not skip out on doing this tour with Dan. You will regret it if you do. Thank you do much to Dan for having us in your tour. Next time we are in Florence, we will be doing it again!
- Journey1272668707700Great Tour GuidePam was wonderful! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the full range of art and the artists themselves. We also appreciated the pace in which Pam conducted the tour; we could not have asked for a better time!
- Sc2200221100Inspiring and enlightening visitWe’re so glad we did this tour! Pam was a fantastic guide, and generous in her time (we spent ~80 minutes together rather than the advertised 60). She really helped us understand and appreciate so much more than if we’d visited by ourselves - and the statue of David is incredible! Thank you Pam for making this visit such a memorable experience.
- Voyager5760991998800Pleasant gardens, set on a hillside behind Pitti PalaceBeautifully set out gardens, pleasantly cool on a hot day with plenty of seating. Lots of statues. Downside nowhere to purchase a drink ( visited on a Monday in August) so take a drink with you!
- Susan L00Guided tour of Boboli GardensOur tour guide, Pam, gave us a great tour of the Boboli Gardens. She explained its significance and how it evolved over time. She made sure we saw all the important features of the garden and the lines of symmetry and views!!
- Claire E00Spectacular viewsLoved it here- some areas sectioned off for refurbishment. Lots of places to sit and taken in the atmosphere and many views to use your camera.
- piccdk00Great experienceLovely guide. We took a bunch and this was our favorite. The church is beautiful with an incredible history. A lot of depth that we initially assumed.
- carriem4200Great tour of the city!A tour is a great way to begin your stay in Florence! Our guide was a native English speaker with a wealth of knowledge about the city and its history. Strongly recommend!
- sarahsanta12300Santacroce Church is not to be missed! Our tour of the Santa Croce church was excellent. So informative! My favorite tour during my Italian vacation. Don’t miss a visit to the SantaCroce church. All the most famous Italians are buried there. The art is incredible!
- Jen T00Breathtaking ViewsSylvia did a great job showing us the highlights from the bird’s eye view of Florence. The climb is a little strenuous and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone out of shape. The inside of the church is huge but not that decorated, except for the dome which was an architectural marvel and amazing artwork at the time. So you definitely want to climb to the dome if you can and there were no signs explaining the art so Sylvia was clutch. There were some signs explaining the tools that were invented to build the dome, which r stored up near the top of the dome - quite impressive. The tour includes 72 hours to go climb the bell tower, go to the museum (stunning historical church doors and altars), and another church building - worth it if you want to see all that. So if you don’t want all that and can look up the dome artwork history while you wait in line (can be long), you can just buy tickets to what u want when you get there but the conveniences/tour guide explanations were worth it for us.
- Katherine G00Great tour of Santa CroceOur guide, Jenny, was very good, pleasant and thorough. We recommend her to others. The church was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the tomb of Michelangelo.
- Craig I00Garden ViewsOur guide and tour were amazing. She shared all the history we were looking for. A perfect way to experience the garden and see the picturesque views of the city.

Beautiful museum with amazing , famous art .
My guide was Martina of Star Florence. She was excellent. She had great knowledge , made the tour interesting and she answered all my questions.
The Bargello is a bit under the radar compared to other sites in Florence, but it is a must see. Not just a museum , but a palazzo with an interesting history.
Hopefully you’ll get Martina as your guide .

Our tour of the Bargello was caused by a change in priorities. We went to Florence during spring holiday and the city was packed. Lines to some of our first choices to visit were hours long. To get into the Bargello we either had to wait for a reservation or pay up for a private tour. We chose the latter and were glad we did. We were fortunate enough to have for our guide a young woman named Silvia La Rossa. University educated in art history, Silvia was very well spoken and friendly, full of insights and background on the various objects in the museum. She guided us efficiently to the most significant pieces where we'd linger for a few minutes hearing her discourse, then our daughter, who loves history, would pepper her with questions. All of which Silvia answered with alacrity. Her services were well worth the nominal expense. We came away with a good appreciation of the context of many of the works, which were as often designed to score political points and display power as they were to celebrate religion or history. The tour was about an hour then Silvia advised us on how to prioritize our time in the rest of the museum. the museum itself is a must visit, a guide is an option well worth the money.
We live close by in Europe and chose to visit Florence on the spur of the moment, but if you're traveling from a distance definitely have a plan for dealing with the mobs of people. Chinese tourists are a new and numerous addition to the tourist mix so better planning is a must..
