Home of Florentine masterpieces by the likes of Sandro Botticelli, the Uffizi Gallery is one of the most important museums in the world.

      Interesting building and story
This building is beautiful and off the beaten path. I saw it from a roof top bar and w as liked towards be it as it was very courteously standing out in it’s unique architectural style. It has a vast display of Jewish religious symbols and items together with a detailed explanation of the Jewish communities that have live fun Florence be over the last centuries. The staff are kind and helpful too. Worth visiting especially if walking past.

      David did not disappoint.
Great guide. We are so glad we went to see the David. Much more impressive in person than we thought it would be. The sculptures were worth seeing.

Awe inspiring building and beautiful architecture
Stunning and magnificent architecture and definitely worth visiting. like all places of Jewish interest across Europe, it’s impacted by its tragic history under the hands of the Nazis and the Italian collaborators which is why it’s so amazing that it hasn’t been destroyed and is a working synagogue. With that alone, it’s worth the experience, however, it’s a solitary, empty experience and the tiny museum lacks the depth and weight of history that it deserves. Should also mention the disinterested and unhelpful staff who were most unpleasant.

      Accessible transport non existent
Traveling in a wheelchair in Italy is not fun. Arrived at the port of Livorno to discover no accessible shuttles and no accessible taxis. We waited over an hour after requesting an accessible taxi only to have an elderly couple who had just left the ship for e their way into it ahead of us and the rest of the queue. We decided to walk into town, ha ha, what town? We could not find more than a few shops we could afford to spend money in. We walked along the sea front and eventually found a cafe where no one understood Latte. I started with an expresso, complained and ended up with a cup half full of luke warm milk. Headed back to the ship to enjoy the sunshine by the pool. Very sad we were unable to visit Pissa as we had planned.

      It was awesome
In the words of my 10 year old -“The 2 hours went by so fast! I didn’t even get bored today!” Such words are enough to let you know about the success of the tour. Taking a private guide was so worth it. Benjamin was interesting and humorous and gave us so much information in the time we spent with him that we could have a GK quiz with multiple rounds! And he treated us to Gelato too!! Florence is a beautiful city and with only one afternoon to explore the sights it was a trip worth taking!

I booked three tours through Rome Private Guides - Private Rome intro/with driver, Small Group Early Morning Vatican and a private tour of the Uffizi in Florence. All were excellent! Well organized program, interesting content - not just dry facts strung together - and enthusiastic guides (Laura and Azura) who were amazing and were all so kind and accommodating to us (my mother uses a cane which slowed us down and required a little extra care). But our Uffuzi guide, Benjamin, was special. I have taken dozens of tours over the years and he was one of the very best I've had. His passion for the material, his knowledge of not just the art but the political and religious climate, history, family grudges and artists was recounted in a way that made us feel a part of it. As we moved through the Uffizi, he took us on a journey, connecting the dots and bringing it all to life. I've been to the Uffizi no less than six times, but now have such a greater appreciation for its collection and the story it tells. We plan to bring bring the kids next time and we will make sure to have Benjamin introduce them to Florence as his excitement and joy are infectious and will be the perfect way for them to experience it all for the first time. Thank you Rome Private Guides and Benjamin!!
