Don't miss this tour to the Tuscany countryside!
I went on this tour with my family members, expecting to have an easy day doing some wine tasting, but this tour was one of my favorite parts of our vacation. Our guide, Alex, was not only informative, but funny and made sure we had the best day. The weather just happened to be perfect, we enjoyed delicious wine, the best ravioli, and it was eye-candy galore at every stop we made. Absolutely loved it!!

Half day vespa tour - Florence
After the good reviews, we were not disappointed. The meeting point was odd in that there were no obvious signs of vespas or a garage, but we were met there by the organisers and after filling out the usual disclaimer forms, we were taken by their bus to their garage which is a mile or two out of town, south of the river. After kitting out with helmets and a test drive - these are 125cc vespas and quite powerful - not your usual Greek Island scooter, we were off, following Mano in the lead car. We stopped at a vineyard, various viewpoints with Mano our guide giving their history and wine olive growing details. Then the church at Basilica di San Miniato. Finally to their lunch stop at a private building with wonderful views. All in all a wonderful morning and lunch, and a classic way to explore the nearby countryside, with our excellent guide Mano.

      A must see experience
I went with my daughter and the whole trip underpromised and overdelivered. Our host Mirella was simply spectacular - smart, fun, informative - all without being overbearing. A perfect mix of touring with a guide, time on our own to explore, and rest time on the bus. Thank you Mirella and Walkabout Tours!

      Tuscany revealed!
Naomi and Nondo were wonderful. It was a splendid immersive day in Tuscany. We felt that we exposed to the highlights of the region with our limited time in the area. Naomi did a superb job narrating along the trip and providing unique insights. Overall a lovely experience. Thanks! HPR-USA

Words don’t describe how amazing this tour is!
I was waiting until the end of my italy trip to write this review because it deserves a lot of attention. This tour, the Cinque Terre day tour with hiking, was one of the best experiences my family and I have had in our lives. Firstly, the tour guides Emma, Ado, and Mano were phenomenal. They split the group into 3 smaller groups with one guide who navigated the day. They made everything so smooth and easy. We traveled via coach into La Spezia which felt short due to the small details they would share on the ride over and took a train into the 2nd town. Here we started our journey. Before heading on the hike we had lunch in Cornilgia which was 17 euro per person and was incredible. If you chose to do the hike, you would begin right after lunch and this was the best part of the day. What an experience to remember. The views from the hike were so cool. Mid way through the walk at the top of the hill there is a little shop that sells lemon slushies and different drinks and snacks and the drink was an amazing treat before finishing the walk down to Vernazza. In Vernazza we had about 1 hour before we headed to Monterosso and we got drinks, and gelato. Before we knew it we took a boat through all 5 towns with a panoramic view and took the train from Riomaggore back to the bus drop off area. It was a day to remember forever. This tour and the guides Emma, Ado, and Mano made this unforgettable.

      Absolutely amazing day!
Daniele, Victoria and driver Emiliano were outstanding. The whole day was magical and I couldn’t recommend it more highly! I opted to do the hiking which was well worth it. It was challenging however with good fitness you will have no problem. It just helps build your appetite for the amazing food to sample along the way! I’m so glad I chose to do this tour as it has been my best experience in Italy so far.

Cinque Terre . A memorable and enjoyable experience with Walk About Tours.
Doing Cinque Terre with Walk About Tours was one of the best things of our day tours from Florence, Italy ! The tour of the five towns is incredible. Though we did not opt for the hiking, there was enough of walking and climbing up/down to do while visiting the fascinating little places. Jian Carlo, our tour guide, along with Chris were exceptionally helpful, always giving options about the best way possible to visit the towns and view the incredible Mediterranean Sea ! No one gets left out and each one gets to see the places in their own convenient way. Both the guides from Walk About are extremely passionate about the place and their job at hand and took good care of the group. Thank you. We had an amazing experience with Walk About that all our tour guides fell short after that. Highly recommend tours with Walk About. And off course the Cinque Terre trip.

      Must-do Tour!
Cinque Terre was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint! Beautiful villages on the coast, wow! What an experience! Our tour guides, Victoria and Gabriel, were phenomenal! They were fun, informative, and very knowledgeable about the places we visited. There were 44 of us on the bus tour, and yet, they learned our names and made it a very intimate experience for us…ultimate professionals! One of the options on the tour is a lunch which you pay for, or you can go have lunch on your own. Do yourself a favor and sign up for this! After a 400 step hike, it was great to arrive to our lunch destination, have a seat, and enjoy a delicious meal with fellow travelers. Be sure to take cash so that you can pay the lunch in advance. In all, this tour was absolutely worth our time and money. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and prepare to do a lot of walking and take a lot of pictures! What a fun day!

The only food experience you need in Florence!
My family and I absolutely had a fantastic time with Chef Luca and Chef Carmela at the beautiful property in the hills of Florence! Starting with the market tour and picking up all the groceries we needed for our class was fun.. loved the samples we tasted! The ride up to the farmhouse was fun and the class itself was fun, we all had a chance to help with the prep and then making the pasta. Making the tiramisu was pretty easy and delicious. Dining on what we helped cook while having a beautiful view was the best. We highly recommend this experience and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Thank you, Luca and Carmela

      A Taste of Tuscan Magic
Our Chianti Wine Tour was an enchanting journey through Tuscany's vineyards, steeped in history and flavor. Led by a passionate guide Lavi and driver Labi, we explored wineries, savoring the rich heritage of Chianti Classico. From the velvety Riservas to the fruity young blends, each sip told a story of tradition and craftsmanship. Paired with local delicacies and tales of Tuscan lore, this tour was a sensory delight, leaving us with cherished memories and a newfound love for Chianti.

Best way to see Cinque terre
One of the best tours we took in Italy. We got to see all five cities, do a beautiful scenic hike and drink local wine and eat local food delicacies. Our true guide was very informative, and shared some personal recipes with us at the end of the trip. Bus was clean, comfortable and fast. if you opt to take a more relaxed tour, you can skip the hike and take a bus or train from town to town

There could not be three more humorous chefs than Lucca, Luigi and Max who presented this class with enthusiasm, knowledge and incredible flair! We had the time of our lives and our girls aged 15, 12 and 8yrs enjoyed every minute of whipping up their pizza and gelato. Our dinner was delicious and we exchanged stories with fellow travelers during our dinner.
I would highly recommend this tour .. you will miss out in a fantastic opportunity if you don’t book!

This was the best part of our trip in Florence. Just a short bus ride to the beautiful farm we spent 5 unforgettable hours there, learning how to make authentic pizza and gelato. we learn the basic technics of making Gelato with various flavors, and we got to try each other's products at the end, which was very fun. Cris, the gelato master, also teaches us tips on the best combination of different condiments and Gelato flavors. For instance, balsamic vinegar + strawberry flavor, Basil + cucumber flavor... it was fantastic.
When it came to pizza, we had two pizza masters Aria and Thomas were great. They were funny, patient, and knowledgeable. I'd never imagined I could make restaurant-quality pizza but I did it with their help. :) I came home and tried again and it worked!
The farm was beautiful with a great sunset view. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to spend 1/2 day away from the busy city center and do something really fun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 hr. cooking and eating experience with Luca and Cris.
The recipes and techniques we practiced will be helpful in our own kitchens going forward and the evening experience was lovely. It was a chilly day in December and I would advise others to be sure to be prepared to be outside a bit for the pizza making. The class is held at a beautiful site overlooking Florence and much fun, overall. The Chianti, pizza, and Gelato in 10 flavors made an excellent early dinner.

One of the best nights of my life!!! I did this as it was built into the predetermined itinerary on a group trip through Wanderrock Travel. While it is something that I probably would not have done otherwise, it turned out to be one of my absolute favorite parts of the trip! This is an absolute must do for anyone visiting Florence. Started off with some bread and a walk through the garden. From there, the making of the gelato and pizza were real fun. The instructors were very nice, hilarious and understanding of mistakes. They were all very polite when I asked questions (even after they had literally just demonstrated how to do it) and the experience is very welcoming to anyone who does not know much about cooking. They made it enjoyable and simple. The best part of the night came after finishing cooking while waiting for the pizza in the oven and gelato to finish freezing. During this time, I admired one of the best views ever with the sun setting on Florence in such a peaceful atmosphere! Is one of the most beautiful places ever. There was a feeling of magic in the air. Literally one of the best nights of my life! The pizza and gelato was amazing! So many great gelato flavors (lemon, strawberry, pistachio, hazelnut, etc.) When the gelato was served, all the flavors were at the same table so you could literally take one scoop of each flavor and admire all of them. The instructors gave us diplomas at the end and had a nice chance to interact with them!

Spending an evening with Max, Luca and Luigi in Tuscany was so much fun! After meeting at the meeting point in Florence, our family of 5 was sent by taxi (a covid safety measure?) to the farm house a few minutes away with beautiful views of Tuscany. After a short walk down to the garden, we were served wine and focaccia and then we got to work in the kitchen. Max instructed us on choosing our gelato flavors and taught us about the gelato making process. While our gelato bases chilled, we got a dough making lesson from Luca and Luigi. Making delicious pizza dough is not easy! While our dough "rested" we went back to the kitchen to start churning our gelato. While the gelato churned, Luca and Luigi were back with properly rested dough(24 hours rest is what pizza dough needs). After making pizza sauce, all the participants got their own dough to shape and top with a beautiful selection of toppings. Luigi cooked the individual pizzas in a wood burning oven and they were delicious! We enjoyed our dinner in a glass walled dining room overlooking the scenic hills. After our pizza dinner, Max was back with our ready to eat gelato and an assortment of flavorful toppings like red salt and balsamic vinegar. After 14 months of covid time cooking at home, cooking with Max, Luca and Luigi was a welcome treat! If you are in Florence and want to take a fun cooking class, this one is a winner!

Highlight of our Florence trip - highly recommend

We had the most amazing pizza and gelato making course up in this farmhouse with breathtaking views of all of Florence. Max was wonderful at teaching us how to make gelato. He took us on a tour of the gardens first where the company grows lovely vegetables, and then walked us through the basic principles of an Italian gelato. He was so passionate about the craft and his enthusiasm was infectious. The gelatos were delicious - I loved them all and we got to try everyone’s at the end.

We had a wonderful pizza making lesson with Thomas and Tiziano. Thomas was so funny and very engaging. The instructions were very clear and inspired a love of not only pizza but pizza-making in the whole group. They were very generous with all the pizza toppings and took time to teach us all in small groups the steps of pizza rolling and flipping. The pizzas we made were easily the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten.

This pizza/gelato making experience was magical. Everything about the course was something I will remember forever. The staff was super friendly and nothing was too much for them. The pick up from Florence was super easy as well and the journey was no more than 10 mins.

Thank you so so much Max, Thomas and Tiziano for providing such a memorable, wholesome experience for me and my friends. I loved this course so much and would recommend to anyone visiting Florence.

We don't usually get around to leaving reviews (sorry for all the places we have been before!), however, we felt that you needed to hear about this one. As a big fan of Pizza, I found this class when planning a tour of Tuscany - originally planned for March 20 but had to change it to October 20 due to Covid. We also changed our plans to make sure we were in Florence for the day this took place and luckily the Covid impact gave us a small class of 5 which made it more personal. Angela was an expert on Gelato and helped us understand the science behind it before showing us how to make our own! Luigi and Luca the tag-team showed us the whole process of making Pizza and our faces hurt from laughing so much at they way Luca added his touch. Overall we had the best time and it was 100% worth going on. Get involved on this one! P.S thanks for the recipes, we will be practicing during lockdown!

Traveling finally, after covid, had been a blessing and a privilege. I didn't think anything could make my honeymoon any better for my wife and I until we did two Tours with Walkabout, the Pizza & Gelato class and the full day Cinque Terre tour.

Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, thank you so very very much for not only educating us through the pizza and Gelato class but for also helping facilitate such a fun and interactive time between all of the participants. You brought out the best in all the people attending and made this a BEYOND memorable experience. You're knowledge, customer service, and passion for your craft flows through you so naturally and joyfully that we will now proceed to judge not just all other tour guides but also other Italians against the bar that you have set.

The autonomy of the the day trip led by Chris was a breath of fresh air from the typical guided tours. Your team has really hit the lottery with how you've managed to put together such a great tour whilst also allowing the amount of freedom we had. More than that was how impressively Chris and Aldo managed to keep the entire group of 65 people coordinated and organized and on schedule. Truly impressive and only possible if you really know what you're doing.

If you're considering booking anything with WalkAboutTours, do not hesitate. If the other guides are anything like Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, Chris or Aldo, you will have a memorable experience and be glad you trusted this review!

Thank you again for making our honeymoon so memorable.

    Your friends from Vancouver, Canada

Our family of five (mom, dad, 19, 17, 10) took the pizza-gelato class at the recommendation of another family. It was my favorite part of an all-around amazing Italian vacation. The venue was gorgeous, the instruction was helpful, the food was delicious, and Max/Luca/Luigi were delightful. (Luca deserves to be a comedian on Saturday Night Live!) I will not soon forget the best gelato of the trip among more than a dozen gelato stores: Max’s lemon/basil/pepper gelato. Before going, I feared this might be “cheesy,” but it was far from it: serious kitchen, serious cooking, serious scenery, and serious fun. I cannot recommend this enough for families, couples, or individuals alike.

Can't recommend this cooking class enough; most enjoyable activity we have done on many trips to Italy. (Of course we had great weather) We had Angega, Aru and Thomas (if I can read the printing) as instructors and they were great. We did the 1st class that starts at 2:30pm and finishes around sunset. This was September so it was starting to get chilly. Suggest getting a class that ends no later than sunset to enjoy the views from the farm house. The only negative is the class size; we filled to capacity the mid-sized bus used to transport between Florence and the farm house. I think it was 28-29 people. You just need to "advocate for yourself" to make sure you get a work station, etc. Would have preferred (and paid more) for a smaller class but the instructors accommodated everyone.
