About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Q5790DVisaacm0 contributionsA long day (with maybe not enough time in each location), but we enjoyed it nonetheless! We had a great time on our tour. It was quite a long day, but we’re happy we got to see both Pisa and 3 of the 5 famous towns in Cinque Terre. In Pisa, we also opted to get 10 am tickets to climb the tower, and that was definitely worth it for us. The view was spectacular, and it was such a unique experience to climb a building like that. Unfortunately the weather stopped cooperating one we got to Cinque Terre (steady light rain with off and on periods of heavier rain). It was also the slow season, so quite a few place were closed. But neither of those things were our guide’s fault. Kristine was fantastic and made sure everyone in the group knew exactly how much time we had, where to meet, and what trains to get on. Our only disappointment (other than the weather) was that a lot of the tour felt a bit rushed. It might’ve been nicer to go to a single Cinque Terre town so we had longer to spend there, but at the same time, we knew what we were signing up for with a trip that encompassed so much!Written November 27, 2024
- jessicahA7134DK0 contributionsEnjoying the peace and energy of Pisa and the Tuscany regionMy family and I loved the Pisa and wine tour. We were able to have the van to ourselves so we were comfortable enough to just enjoy the scenery & get a glimpse of life outside the tourist pictures. We booked this tour through our travel agent in which we asked that are vacation be more of an adventure. This tour definitely filled that request. 😁 I loved that our guide was knowledgeable about not only the tower but also the Plaza it was in and the historical relevance. I loved the fact that he was willing to wait for us to get to meet-up point because as Americans we had no knowledge of getting around Florence and needed all the help we could get, lol. 😆 I highly recommend this tour and enjoy the wine which was magnificent.Written November 18, 2024
- Richard P0 contributionsTuscany Holl Towns and Wine TastingOur guide and driver Domenico was wonderful. Even on a rainy and a bit cold day, we had a great time in San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Siena and our wine pairing at Tenuta Torciano was delightful, made even more so by our host Luca. We recommend it!Written October 20, 2024
- E457JJnickb0 contributionsCompany is very particular about the vespas, made for a very stressful trip.Views were great, our tour guide was amazing. But the company felt like they were trying to make more money off of us using the Vespas. As if the cost of the adventure wasn’t enough to cover wear and tear of Vespa’s, they analyzed every minor rock chip or grip wear and tear to see if they could charge us more. This added a lot of unnecessary stress to our trip.Written October 18, 2024

- Sightseer3748320 contributionsItaly AdventureThis was my first time visiting Italy, and it was a wonderful experience. The Italy on a Budget team worked with us to create a wonderful itinerary, the tour guides were absolutely amazing, in particular, Giovanni and Jane, they were very knowledgeable and accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that we were having a safe, engaging and enjoyable experience, they helped to create lasting memories for my cousins and me.Written October 9, 2024
- karencW3361RL0 contributionsThese guys are for real!My friend and I got a crazy idea on our recent trip to Italy that we should check out the Amalfi coast and Pompeii - in a day. Italy on a Budget was one of very few providers that offered this trip at a price we could afford. When our excursion did not meet the minimum “people” requirement, they scrambled to still make this trip happen for us. AND at the price they quoted. Pretty magical. I am super impressed at the lengths they went to: their communication was responsive and language - we speak English only - was no problem. Please consider this group when looking at tours. They are very customer-service driven. Definitely would use them again.Written October 7, 2024
- Getaway638637772060 contributionsVespa ToursIt was a beautiful tour. I’m used to driving on the other side of the road (from Northern Ireland) and the tour guide, Alessandro, was amazing! He made us feel so comfortable on the roads! The wine tasting was exquisite. The different wines paired perfectly with the food provided. The views were without question, some of the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve decided I’m going to have my wedding there (Just need to find the future husband!)Written October 4, 2024
- Bobsadt0 contributionsCould not have asked for a better experienceWe have used Italy on a Budget before, and they always delivered, but our trip to the winery and Tuscan countryside was beyond excellent. Dom was our guide, and he did a fantastic job of hosting our group and explaining everything we would see and experience. Every step of our excursion was handled with professionalism and excellent service. Good communication with the office; wonderful pickup experience, and very professional guidance throughout our time. I highly recommend this company whenever you are in the Tuscan region and want a well-informed experience.Written October 3, 2024
- markdM6410ZC0 contributionsFour Couples first time in EuropeOur tour was excellent and our guide was awesome (Lorenzo) he was very knowledgeable and informative and let us know where to go eat and explore. It rained that day and we made the best of it. Pisa was awesome and Cinque Terre was beautiful. We were 4 couples in our sixties and never felt that we couldn't keep up with the youngsters. He moved at a great pace and we got to see everything we wanted to. The train ride back to Florence was 2 1/2 hours, but went faster than it seemed.Written October 2, 2024
- Jnel9210 contributionsAn amazing day in Tuscany and a beautiful day for a Tuk Tuk ride to explore it!We went to Florence from Rome on 9/30 in a high speed train and arrived on time to meet our first tour guide Anna. She was very pleasant and we boarded a bus with other tourists. She gave us a brief history of the area and gave us some fun facts. They dropped me and my friend off at a different location as we were doing a private birthday Tuk Tuk tour. Her bit was on 10/1. We were met by our Tuk Tuk driver and guide Alessandro who made our day even more special. The Tuk Tuk was decorated with balloons and had a blanket in case either of us got cold. He drove us around the showing us the olive trees and grape vines. The landscapes were amazing. He made several stops to allow us to take pictures and he also told us about the area. We drove to the winery where we were greeted with wine. We were then taken to a beautiful area where we would sample 6 more wines and have a light lunch. Alessandro and the servers brought out a delicious Pistachio cheesecake with a happy bite sign. After we were done we were taken to the Medieval town of San Gimignano which was breathtaking to say the least. This is where parted ways with Alessandro and met up with Anna and the rest of the people on the bus to head back to Florence. All in all an amazing day worth every penny!Written October 2, 2024
- Alex H0 contributionsPisa - Cinque Terre Tour by trainThis is an ‘ambitious’ tour with a fair amount of train travel time required. We departed Firenze Main Station before 8:00 AM but did not get back until after 8:30 PM so it was a fairly exhausting day. Be prepared for a lot of ‘train time’. The time spent in Pisa was limited and it was not really sufficient to fully explore the Baptistry, the Duomo and to go up the Bell Tower (Leaning Tower of Pisa). If you want to visit all three, buy your tickets early (not included in the price of the tour) as access to the bell tower is limited and controlled by the time on your ticket. Cinque Terre is beautiful but very crowded with your fellow tourists. Our tour ambitiously had us visiting three stops so our time in each location was limited to less than one hour. Not really enough time to engage in any activities other than walking down to the ocean, taking a few quick pictures then grabbing a snack (seafood or gelato etc.). The regional trains that transit you between locations are very hot and crowded full of sweaty disgruntled fellow tourists! Be prepared to fight your way on as space is limited during peak times (a few people in our group actually could not get on and were separated from the group) - definitely not good if you are travelling with young children as the crowds are huge. (Unpleasant experience actually!) It seems we spent more time on, or waiting for, trains than actual sight seeing. As the three stops we visited are quite similar, it might be better to just pick one if you are interested in a longer stay. The trip back to Firenze from La Spezia took almost three hours as the train used by the tour company was a ‘local’ train (particularly between La Spezia and Pisa) so be prepared for the ‘milk run’. Not sure why an express train between La Spezia/Pisa and Firenze could not have been used; maybe there isn’t one! Our guide was very pleasant and helpful although she did not formally introduce herself until we were on the train back to Firenze! She acted more as a ‘travel coordinator’ than a guide and did not provide any real background/history of the places we visited. As an aside I would recommend that where possible, use an “Art History Major” for your tour guide as I have found they have more insight (interest?) in anything historical you are visiting. I would recommend that tour guides provide their contact information (perhaps a business card) in the event you get separated from the group. I would not take this tour again as it felt very rushed and I did not really get to enjoy any of the locations visited fully. Combining Pisa with Cinque Terre is, as I mentioned earlier, quite ambitious. I would recommend that if you want to visit Pisa and Cinque Terre, that you not try to do this as a day trip out of Firenze unless you plan to only visit one of the two areas in a day. (i.e., visit Pisa or Cinque Terre but not both in one day).Written September 26, 2024

- Rehtravel0 contributionsAmazing all-day Tuscan tour! This trip was incredible. We met at 8am in Florence and spent all day visiting Cortona, Montepulciano, Siena and the sweetest farm. It was a small group of 7 in a comfortable passenger van. Antonello was a fantastic guide and even surprised us in Montepulciano with a wine cellar tour and tasting. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see the highlights of Tuscany in a day. Thank you Antonella for the fun memories that my mom, aunt and I will always cherish. Grazie!Written September 15, 2024

We had a great time of the tour with Carlotta. I should first qualify my review by saying we visited early February and there were only three of us on the tour (usually it’s a minimum of 4 but two didn’t show up) so I expect our experience is quite different to the large groups (up to 50!) in summer. At the first winery we did the tasting in a private room. We tasted 6 wines with meat, cheese, two olive oils, balsamic vinegar and biscotti with the sweet wine. It was delicious and much more than I was expecting (and generous glasses of wine). Our host Neil was fantastic and very entertaining, telling us about the wines and how to taste them. At the second winery we had an outdoor tour of the wine making and ageing process and then did the tasting on the terrace, with beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. We tasted three wines with bruschetta. We then had about 1 hour 45 in San Gimignano - not long but enough time to climb the tower and visit the cathedral. I’d definitely recommend this tour during the winter when the groups are smaller.

Was my first time in Italy :-)
Came across Italy on a budget for the Florence 3 days and 2 nights tour and and was one of the best tours I've had before. The tour guide Veronica was professional and fun she was always willing to answer any questions that were asked and she made the experience great. The wine experts were exciting in there delivery of knowledge made the tour really worthwhile. I also met people from different parts of the world in the tour, who were good to bond with and shared good moments with.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody who is an explorer and has a great interest in wine.

We went on the tour in early March 2020. It was a fun tour, very small group based on the time of year which was actually pretty nice as I prefer smaller groups. The weather wasn't fantastic (cloudy, cold and a bit rainy), but that's to be expected at the time of year (Winter in Italy), not a knock on the tour but just info for anyone looking to book during this time of year, you could get lucky but you might now! The guides were both great and very informative. Having a younger group was fun and made it easier to chat with everyone. The only complaint I have would be that there wasn't' quite as much information about how it's made/tour of the grounds as I would have liked. I think that might have been due to the weather possibly, but the first winery looked like it was huge and pretty cool but we didn't get to see any of it. Maybe those who go in summer might get more of a tour? The second one was smaller and gave us more of a tour of how it's made, but it was still short and maybe not as in depth as I personally would have liked. Again, this might have been due to weather since it was cold and I think they wanted to get us inside to the heaters. The first winery was a bit commercial-ly and pushed trying to get us to buy the wine a little too much, so I liked the second one better for that reason, we also bought a half a case from the second one, I can't wait until it arrives! Overall, I am really glad we did this as it was something I really wanted to do on our trip to Italy and even despite the weather it was a really fun time and my husband and I both enjoyed it!

When we arrived for the tour today it was just me and my boyfriend so it was basically a private tour (post COVID means everything is a lot more quieter and difficult for the tourist industry). Emma was our tour guide she was very personable and friendly and great company along the way, making conversation and answering our questions. We visited the first winery called Torciano we tasted 7 wines , 1 dessert wine and 1 glass of bubbles (enough to feel drunk depending on if you have eaten beforehand). This was a family run winery ,the family was lovely and the lady explaining the wines to us was really engaging (although we didn’t catch her name) but she made it really enjoyable. She explained each wine in detail, the differences between each and taught you how to spell, drink and taste the wine. We also had a platter of food to eat with our tasting and we tried different products such as olive oil, truffle sauce & balsamic vinegar (the best balsamic is the best I have tasted in Italy so far). We did end up buying a bottle of the white wine.
The second winery we visited was again family run called Pietraserna and we was shown around by the owners wife. She was very informative and explained the process of how the wines were made (white, red & rose) and gave great knowledge of each process and the differences between each. We tried 1 wine of each (red, white & Rose). The views from this winery were amazing overlooking all the fields.
We then visited san Gimignano , this was a lovely little town and looks like it is stuck in the medieval times times and hadn’t changed. Emma told us where to get the world award winning ice cream and we had around 1 hour 30 to walk around (enough time I would say unless you want to visit the museums).
It is definitely worth the money and we got exactly what we wanted from the tour. Could not recommend this tour and tour guide enough.

Would 100% recommend doing this tour. It’s a small group of usually 8 people and you get to meet and talk to other travelers in a very laid back atmosphere. Our guide, Emma, was great. She’s a very extroverted person, knows a lot interesting things about the region and Tuscan wines. Talking about wine… the wineries we visited offered exquisite regional wines. We tried in total about 12 different wines, accompanied with local meats, cheese and bruschetta. The tour also includes olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting (spicy oil and truffle infused oil and a 30 year old balsamico). Then we got dropped off at San Gimignano and had about and hour and a half to explore the town. Amazing views. It was a great experience.

Me and my spouse had booked a day trip for wine tasting in Tuscany.
The trip began in Florence, where our tour guide, Elisabetta, gave us a warm welcome and picked us with a van. After a short ride, during which Elisabetta shared local tips and recommendations, we arrived at San Gimignano. Since it was off-season the small town was quiet. We went up Torre Grossa (great panoramic view!), had tasty gelato at the the place Elisabetta recommended and local pastries. Then we visited a rustic vineyard which had a nice view of Tuscany's rolling hills, got a short tour for the bottling process, and eventually tasted 3 local wines – all of them wonderful. Next up was a visit to a posh winery where we learned about wine tasting and tried 6 different wines. Finally, in the evening Elisabetta brought us back to Florence. Everything was on time and attentive, while the necessary COVID precautions made us feel safe. We gained lots of new knowledge around wine making and wine tasting.
Thank to Elisabetta's attitude, positive energy, humor, kindness and friendliness we had a wonderful experience and a memorable day. Highly recommended to book the day trip and to ask for Elisabetta as your guide.

Fun and delicious tour of Tuscany and Siena wineries. The tour is popular, especially amongst 20 and 30-somethings. Regardless, everyone is really friendly, and you’ll find yourself meeting and speaking with interesting people from all over the world as you sample delicious bites and (some) incredible wines.
Tour begins at a meeting point in Florence where we boarded a coach for a 40 minute ride through the Tuscan countryside to the first winery. After the first winery where you’ll sample amazing whites and reds along with breads, meats and cheeses, you’ll be onto the next winery in Siena. Before you depart, you will be hard-pressed to not buy wines and Olive oil and balsamic vinegar, so plan accordingly. Second winery has a few more wines and bites and, of course, enjoyable company. The final stop is in a beautiful and scenic city atop a hill for lite dining and shopping.
Great tour. Giulia, our guide, was energetic and pleasant along the tour providing both historical and anecdotal stories. Definitely recommend this to be part of your itinerary while in Florence.

Myself and parter stayed in Florence and took this tour which is a short walk for the meeting point near the city centre.
Firstly, guide Lorenzo was perfectly on time and there to greet us and when we left with other guests explained as we drove through the countryside to the first vineyard. Different facts and information which was very welcomed. He had a good mix of humour and facts.
The first vineyard was family run and beautiful and much included a tour and information on the vines as well as time to ask questions. The wine was truly wonderful….you can buy it there or have it shipped if you are buying a few (which I recommend) we then actually went to San Ginignano next which was great for something to eat and apparently the best gelato in the world ( the mint chocolate was fresh mint which is nothing like I’ve ever had before) we then went onto the next vineyard and all I can say is wow, from the welcome to showing you how to ‘taste’ the wine to the accomplishments you got to eat was amazing. The second vineyard was more established and more expensive. But was a truly wonderful experience. I 100% recommend this tour and lorenzo was a fantastic guide to be with, even letting us stop for good photo points!

The day before our long before booked tour I was contacted to say that they had been overbooked so we would have the option of taking a 1hr train ride (each way) instead (or cancel). Francesca picked us up at the train station in a van, and drove us from vineyard, to village, to vineyard, then back to the train station. She was lovely and tried her best yet we think she was juggling driving around other groups and was stressed for time. We ended up rushing through our last stop (and the food/wine pairings) to make the train back. We also ended up with a “private tour” which was slightly awkward for us, as we prefer to hide in a smaller crowd. Francesca did the best she could yet the day was slightly strange: slow in the beginning and rushed at the end. We’re still glad we had the experience though, beautiful places to have explored.

Absolutely one of the best experiences imaginable. Our guide Dom was hilarious and engaging, he brought the group together and made it feel like we had all known each other for years instead of just minutes. The wineries were lovely and the tastings were plentiful! Also loved stopping in San Gimignano and having free time to explore the city. The bus was nicely air conditioned too which made all of the difference. The friends we made on this tour will stick with us for a long time! Would recommend this to everyone!

I don’t see any availability for this coming week, is the tour still offered in December?

hello, i have a few questions: 1- is it really prohibited for people older than 39 years? 2-is the private tour completely private for the group renting it? 3-can the private group stay as long as they one in each stop?

It appears that, depending on the day, there are two options for this tour: a semi-private tour and one called "Grape Escape tour." Is there a difference between the two?

Hi,
Is the proof of full vaccination/negative test still required?
What's the expected arrival time to Florence?
Thanks

We did not have to show any COVID documents. We left Florence around 10am and got back at 5pm.
