About
With a wealth of Renaissance history and art, Florence gets busy. Maximize your sightseeing time and avoid the crowds with skip-the-line tours of two of the city’s top landmarks: the Florence Duomo and Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David. You’ll even have time to visit Florence Baptistery and the duomo’s museum and terraces, too. The tour is led by a local guide and numbers are capped at 15 for a small-group experience.

Highlights
  • Make use of privileged access inside Florence Duomo and enjoy close-up views
  • Go straight to Michelangelo’s David on a tour of the Accademia Gallery
  • Enjoy less waiting and more interaction with your guide on a small-group tour
What to expect
In the early morning, you’ll head to Piazza San Marco to meet your guide and head straight inside Florence’s Accademia Gallery with your skip-the-line ticket. Make your way straight to the masterpiece of Michelangelo’s David, and hear how the statue came to symbolize the Florentine Republic, before you admire the artist’s unfinished I Prigioni works. Stroll onward to Florence Baptistery to learn about the Medici, the de facto rulers of Renaissance Florence—many of whom were baptized in the monument. From the baptistery, you’ll step inside the Florence Duomo museum and step back in time as you see how the original façade once looked. Head into the duomo itself, and get close-up looks at some of the sites that are roped-off to the general public. Finish on a high note as you ascend to the duomo’s terraces and climb a little further, if you wish to reach the top. Your tour ends at the terraces.

A great tour! Valentina was our guide, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable and kept a healthy yet relaxing pace. We started at the Academic Gallery to see David, which is of course incredible. We had time to check out the gift shop and use the bathroom before we made our way to the Duomo. We had a lovely tour of the inside, which included 150 steps up to the terraces. The view from the terraces is beautiful, so if you don't climb the dome you still get a great view. From there, the tour ends and you have the option to go back down with the guide or continue the climb all the way up to the dome. If you climb up to the dome, be prepared for some very steep, spiral staircases, and some tight, enclosed spaces, plus an additional 300-ish steps. The view from the top is worth it, though! The only disappointment is that our group waited a bit before going up, because a staff member said if we went right way then we'd only get one minute at the top. So we waited for about 10 minutes before going up, but once we made it to the top, we were told we had to go back down a minute later. We wished we could've had at least a couple minutes at the top, but oh well, at least we got to see it. Overall, I'd highly recommend visiting the Academic Gallery and the Duomo, and this tour was a great way to do both!

Both guides, Chris and Mr B ( sorry I could not pronounce his name. He’s a jolly guy who loves Anerican football) were both fantastic. Chris is very knowledgeable about the arts and art history and Mr B about the history of the Doumo and Florentine noble families.

Chris elucidation of Michaelangelo, his talents in sculpting, painting and architecture ; his relationship with other Renaissance greats were illuminating and informative. My only grouse is that we did not have time to see much of the Academia other than David’s sculpture and a few of Michaelangelo’s non-finito works.

The climb up to the dome is exhilarating and at times breathless BUT should be tried and done while one is able. The view on the inside terrace of the dome’s painting of Inferno is amazing and one gets to go 2/3 round the dome.
It's another 200 odd steps up to the top of the dome. It's steep and very doable. The 360 view at the top of the dome is awesome.

Excellent tour lead by Jada. So worth taking the tour to simply skip the lines. The views from the outside terraces of the Duomo were breathtaking as were the walkways on the inside of the cupola. It is 450 steps to the top and the stairs can be tight. Go early. The views of Florence are amazing from the outside. Of course seeing David and other works by Michelangelo are awe inspiring. This tour is a must. And if you can get Jada, do it!!!

Giada was an excellent guide. She got us in first to see the statue of David and knew the full history of the statue and many things you would not normally observe without her pointing them out. Duomo tour also noteworthy for her ability to get us into places and areas that others didn't get to see. Great tour with her.

Wow! This is a must do when in Florence. My eyes couldn’t be open wide enough to see the amazing sites. Matteo was a terrible tour guide and very professional. He took his time and didn’t make any question seem unimportant. Highly recommend do the climb to the top.

We booked this tour based on other Trip Adviser reviews and it did not disappoint. It was extremely informative and enjoyable and the climb to the top of the dome is a must do experience.

Our guide, Giada, was absolutely superb and I cannot praise her enough.

Absolutely amazing to see the real life David and get the full background on how he came to be and the artists that worked on him. Then to get the history of the Duomo and see up close the dome paintings. To top it off, we went to the roof for stunning views. Brilliant all round. A big thank you to our guide Angelo (I think) who made the activity with his knowledge on the subject.

Our guide was Alessia and the tour group probably had around 15 people. Alessia did a great job of getting us from one place to another and through all the security, providing history and context along the way. Having the early access to the David statue is worth it! The Accademia was nearly empty when we arrived and quite crowded by the time we left. We really enjoyed the Baptistry and Duomo Museum. I cannot imagine not having Alessia there to provide the information about what we were actually seeing. The highlight was going up on the Terrace where you have the view of both Florence and the Duomo. We were tired from the day before and opted not to climb the dome at the end of the tour. I highly recommend this tour to see some of the biggest sites in Florence without all the waiting!

We thought this was the best tour we went on in Florence. Arriving to the Accademia early is key as you get to see David before all of the crowds arrive. There really isn't too many other things to see there. The walk to the Duomo was really nice and our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Unfortunately, the Duomo museum was closed, but she improvised and gave us a fantastic tour of the medieval section of Florence. We ended up going back to the museum on our own. Her tour of the Duomo was excellent! We did end up walking to the top, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Do your self a favor and book now! the climb was totally worth it. The top was breath-taking. The corridor was very tight at times and caution is aired to those with claustrophobia.
