Very enjoyable, informative and highly recommended tour! Our guide Virginia was amazing! There was only 6 of us in a group ( 3 of us-adults and a French family with a young boy) and Virginia’s commentary kept us all engaged. She gave us historical context and detailed explanation full of facts about how the cathedral, the dome, the Baptistry and the Bell Tower were built, detailed description of frescoes that decorate the inside of the dome (they were truly spectacular, I am not an art enthusiast but Virginia’s commentary made them come alive). The view from the top of the dome were really worth climbing all those steps! The Museum ( the entry is included in the price of the ticket) is worth visiting too. If you are visiting on a sunny day, grab a cup of coffee of a glass of Aperol in one of the coffee shops on the Plazza and enjoy the beauty of the cathedral on the outside.

Great Duomo climb and tour
We really enjoyed this tour and hike to the top of the Duomo. Our guide was a young woman who spoke excellent English and was very friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure everyone stayed together on the climb and stopped for those that needed more time. She was very knowledgeable about the Duomo and the city. She was able to talk about anything we saw in the city and took some of our pictures! The ticket used for this tour is good for 3 days - check the expiration date - and can be used to climb the bell tower and visit several other sites.

Worth the many steps

Our tour guide for this private tour warned us about all the steps - but that's the whole reason we wanted to take this tour was to have an insider's view of the dome and the view from the top. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history, architecture, paintings inside the dome, and views from the top, and she pointed out things that we would have missed if we'd gone on our own. The meeting place at "the almond door" was easy to find if you search online in advance. The ticket price covered other Florence sites and locations that we could visit on our own over a 72 hour period.

Missed my tour because there is no on-site indication of where to meet.

I purchased this tour and received an e-mail confirmation with directions to arrive at the "almond door" at the time of my appointment. No barcode or QR code was included in the e-mail. There was text directing me to click a link to download my tickets but that didn't work. I arrived 15 minutes early for my tour. I found nothing indicating the location of the "almond door". But I did see a line near what appeared to be the entrance to the dome tour. I got in line and asked others if they also had reservations. They replied that they did. About 30 minutes later, the door opened and they started letting people in. When I got to the front, the attendant looked at my ticket confirmation and told me it wasn't a ticket. But I had nothing else to show. He finally directed me to a woman standing on the side of the church who was wearing a yellow vest with the name of a different company on it. When I approached her, she had my printed tickets waiting for me but by that time, my tour had already left without our group. We were still able to climb to the top but we completely missed the guided tour. The vest the woman was wearing should have had "Trip Advisor" on it since that is where I purchased the tickets. Even more, Trip Advisor should send electronic tickets like every other service does in 2022. Wasted money and a very stressful experience.

Beautiful View - Do it on your own and skip the tour

The view from the top of the dome is absolutely stunning! A 360 degree panorama of Florence and the surrounding area, from the top of the tallest structure. We were fortunate that it was a clear day, warm but not too hot.
Although our tour guide Eva Billi seemed very nice, she wasn't the best guide. She told us that she gave the French tours and apologized for her limited English. Given the fact that we signed up for an English language tour, this was obviously disappointing. We learned very little about the Duomo.
My recommendation would be to skip this tour and just buy your own tickets. We've had some really great tours with other companies, so wouldn't use Accord Tours again.
Side notes: 1) If you are extremely claustrophobic, you might have issues getting to the top of the dome. It's a very narrow staircase with most of it enclosed. 2) There are a lot of steep stairs to climb, in case you have any mitigating health issues.

Fabulous Views and Well Worth Doing

Our tour guide was Virginia who was very knowledgeable about the Duomo. We climbed the 463 steps up without rushing and could pause to catch our breath. It is quite narrow and steep but easier than I thought it would be. There was a heatwave in Florence when we did it (real feel was around 38c) but the views at the top are well worth the effort. You can see a complete 360 degree view of Florence and beyond. Absolutely stunning and the breeze was lovely at the top in all that heat. Virginia explained how Brunelleschi built the dome without scaffolding and how he really was an architect ahead of his time. I would definitely recommend doing this tour but maybe in a cooler part of the year next time!

A funny walk up to the top

You climb over 400 steps with a couple stops to see things on the way. Our guide was a little flustered. She had some good facts but did not present them in a clear talk. Interesting but hard to follow sometimes as she was pointing to things and some of us could not really see where she was pointing. (There were 16 of us in the group) Very beautiful to see the view from the top! Worth it in the long run.

Take the Tour
Excellent tour, excellent guide. A absolute must do in Firenze. Not just to appreciate the magnificent structure that is the dome of the Duomo. Not just to appreciate the magnificent works of art and the feats required to create them. But a must, just to appreciate the sweeping views of a most beautiful city from a top a majestic creation that is the dome.
