While the historic and cultural information was interesting we felt the tour was a misnomer. The description of the tour does not reflect our experience. We had no visits to cafes or bars or samples of crostini en route - we walked for nearly 2 hours and just finished up at a little bar near the cathedral where we had a few samples of wine and local cheese and meats. The fact that there were only 2 of us may have had something to do with the change of itinerary.

Lucia, our guide, was very informative and lovely. That is the positive. We met at Pointe Vecchio and then walked to our first restaurant. It was quite a distant and the long road to the restaurant was under construction so it was not a pleasant walk. Not only was the walk disturbing, but the restaurant was on this road so there was NO view. We sat in a side room of the restaurant with the doors closed (no windows, just a table with 8 chairs). We tasted some lovely wine with appetizers (bread with tomatoes (bruschetta), bread with olive oil and bread with liver pate). We spent way too much time here. After leaving, we walked back over the Pointe Vecchio and saw a beautiful scenery with the eclipse! We continued on to the second restaurant. When we arrived at the second restaurant, it was closing so they gave us our appetizers and glass of wine to go. Apparently, we were late. One of the couples had to leave before the second restaurant because they had reservations for dinner. We took our bagged appetizers and wine glasses to a bench beside the beautiful Duomo. When we opened the appetizers, they were the exact same that we had at the first restaurant! Now, we were hungry and Lucia informed us that most places closed at 10. This was the most disappointing tour that I have ever been on.

To be clear, we loved our guide, Patrizia Vigiani, my wife and I were lucky enough to have him to ourselves and he took his time to explain things to us, and he really enjoyed it, which made us enjoy it. We went WAY over the allotted time but we didn't care because he was a great guy and if you get a chance to do a tour with him you wont be disappointed. However, I was VERY disappointed that we missed sunset because it was our only chance to do it in our time there so the need to take the "Sunset" out of this tour name and if wasn't for that we would have given this 5-stars.

Dear antnee13, sorry we cannot understand WHEN you had a tour with us, not even IF you had a tour with us. We do not know your guide Patrizia Vigiani and we do not know who is HE , as you are talking about a guy, while Patrizia should be your guide, so a woman........the only thing we can see is that you made a big mistake by reviewing us instead of someone else and you lowered our rate on Tripadvisor. It is not fair at all, but we forgive you as there are many tours in Florence and you might get wrong! Have a nice stay in our town!

The tour is a great way to launch your first night in Florence. As a first time visitor (along with my 63 yr old mother and best friend), it provided a unique opportunity to experience the city by night and gain insightful knowledge...accompanied with wine! Lucy, our guide, was delightful and provided a wealth of information about the city's history and culture. She guided us on a meandering walk from the meeting spot, Ponte Vecchio and pointed out recommended shops as we made our way to Pitti Palace. The tour continued through Oltranto where we picked up some hidden gem insight on various architectural designs and their use during certain periods in history. Loved the nugget of detail on the "bucchette del vino" (aka: wine window, see my photos). Our first stop for the evening was at a restaurant, in a small private room along side of it where we enjoyed learning about Chianti wines and their history. 4 tastings in all; 2 of which were impressive (Monte Guelfo Chianti Classico & San Felice Vermentino Toscana). As we were a small party of only 3, our guide and Lucca (bar owner) were able to provide a very personal touch and added a charcuterie board to our food pairing as the tour did have a lengthy yet enjoyable stay at this location and we had not eaten dinner prior. We continued our walk, crossing the river into the shopping district and taking in all the sights and lights. Unfortunately, we too arrived late at the second stop just as they were closing so the experience was rushed; they filled our glass and we took the wine and snacks to go (the tour guide will give you a nifty pouch to carry your empty wine glass, which I thought was neat) and we continued our walk to the Duomo complex where the we departed for the evening. While not the most in-depth wine tour, this tour does a nice job of blending a intro to Florence highlighted by the charm of lights at night and a few tasty wines! Cheers to Firenze!

Our tour started on a bad note as there was a thunderstorm and a lot
Of confusion over whether the tour
Would go ahead or not. We rang the office several times to check before going to the meeting point and were told to wait and go at a later time. When we arrived at that time we were then given out to for being late? Needless to say we weren’t impressed.
The tour itself was boring - we were given a history of the Ponte Vecchio and a palace and different attractions along the way to the first restaurant. As is said in many other reviews it’s a tiny tiled windowless room. Our guide had to speak two languages throughout our tour which left us standing around waiting a lot. Food was nice but not filling - you need dinner before or after.
Wines were nice but not a lot of information was given about flavours - just about the region and history of the wine. If you’re looking for a detailed wine tour I would look elsewhere!

I have mixed feelings about this tour. It has real potential but in its current state it has some issues in my opinion. The first and only location where you actually sit down to taste several wines is inside a very small tiled room separate from the restaurant. We could have sat on the terrace instead but didn't. The room which we were in was unpleasant and with no atmosphere whatsoever. Of all the beautiful places in Florence why do a wine tasting in that uninspiring room? The wine tasting itself was good with lots of interesting information provided.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable but unfortunately at times she was more focused on what she liked instead of what tourists would like. She skipped a few important sites because they were "too touristy". The guide also walked way too fast, leaving people trailing behind her and unable to catch up. So then people missed the site descriptions while walking. I'm young and fit and I was unable to keep up with this guide. I did not appreciate having to walk that fast all the time like we were rushing to catch a train or something. It really did take away from the enjoyment of the tour. If the guide had paid more attention to the needs of the group the tour would have been much better. Even though parts of the tour were good all in all I was disappointed due to the lack of nice bars/restaurants visited and being so rushed while walking.

Like another reviewer stated, this tour could be so much better than it was...

Our guide (Giovanna) was very good and looked after us well. The wines we tried were also very good though, as other reviewers have said, the information provided about the wines was a little ‘light’ so if you’re looking for a real in-depth description, try elsewhere... I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the number and quality of wines tasted; that saved my tour review from being a much lower score!

The tour itself is limited, though, to a few sights (we met on the Ponte Vecchio and walked to Pitti Palace, through some Piazza’s in Oltranto to reach the first restaurant and then back across the river to the second restaurant and finish by the Duomo) with a little history thrown in by the guide. She also pointed out some interesting features like street-art and ‘wine windows’ that I would almost certainly have missed without her intel.

But too much time is spent in a small side room of the first restaurant tasting 4 wines and ‘snacks’ (various bruschetti / crostini). I was under the impression we’d try 1-2 wines before moving elsewhere to try another 1-2, etc. We arrived late at the second restaurant so had to take our glass of wine and snack (another bruschetta) ‘to go’.

My wife and I were with an American couple and an American family (7 in total) and we got on well with good conversation flowing. It was a lovely way to spend our first evening in Florence and it did give us pointers for the next few days of sight-seeing and where to eat. However, it is relatively expensive for what it is.

So, a better venue for wine-tasting - ideally with a view - and more opportunity to see the sights could make this a spectacular tour!
