With its many pedestrian-only streets and limited parking, Florence is best seen on a guided walking tour. With a guide on this tour, you’ll visit a mixture of landmarks (Brunelleschi’s Dome or Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower) and hidden gems, and discover secrets and scandals you'd likely miss if exploring independently. Plus, you’ll receive recommendations for the best places to eat, drink, and shop during your time in the city.

The guide, Riccardo, was exellent and extremely kind in remembering the age of the three in the tour also. His comments and anecdotes were informative, also helping one remember what he said.
This is the second time I have 'walked' with ArtViva in Florence; the first time was some 20 yrs ago but always a memorable experience and one I would recommend to anyone.

We found ArtViva through Rick Steves’ Tuscany Guide. This is our second semi-private tour, and we were so pleased! Laura was kind, knowledgeable, and expert at pointing out historical & quirky highlights of Florence’s old city, including recommendations on street food. We did go back for lampredotta and a fabulous porchetta sandwich (located near the famous “Fontana del Procellino” – bronze boar statue). Laura’s love of Florence is infectious, and greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the city. Worth every penny. Can’t wait to schedule another ArtViva tour on our next trip to Italy.

ArtViva's "Original Florence Walking Tour" was fascinating and fun! This was our 3rd time in Florence, so we're not novices, yet our guide, Alessandro, brought the medieval and renaissance times to life, walking us through many familiar and some new (to us) streets and buildings, and pointing out and explaining things we never knew, or hadn't fully understood.

We learned so much, while literally standing in the shadows of history, art and architecture - seeing first hand how people lived, died, ruled and conducted business in historical Florence. Alessandro's knowledge seemed endless and he was really interesting. The pace was great - time enough to learn and absorb, but he also kept us moving. There were only 4 of us, which made things very personalized. We all appreciated the short bathroom and coffee break mid-walk, which is an example of the sophistication of this Artviva tour.

The Original Florence Guided Walking tour with Alessandro was one of the highlights of two weeks in Italy. I highly recommend it!

We booked this trip in Feb and had to cancel soon afterward due to travel restrictions. The terms and conditions clearly offered a full refund. They resisted for weeks and hid behind the Italian government decree which required them to offer vouchers instead. Even after assuring us they would provide a refund, they have gone dark for 3 months. Disputing with our credit card company now as they hide behind their Munich Germany based payment provider which is a lengthy process. Needless to say, we will never use this service again and will recommend that Rick Steves also takes off his recommendation of these people.

Hi Andrew H We have no record of your booking. Do you think it’s fair that you can damage our reputation while you remain anonymous? In any case you may have noticed that there is a worldwide crisis caused by Covid 19. Most of our thousands of great customers who have had to cancel their trips to Italy have been patient and understanding. Not you, you are a part of the problem, not the solution. Tripadvisor itself advises: “Support this operator: Times are tough for the travel community right now. To show your support, consider leaving a review or posting photos of tours and experiences you have taken. Your support will go a long way in helping tour operators worldwide get back on their feet down the road” We have a staff and a community of people we support that rely on tourism for their livelihoods here in Italy. They need this income to support themselves and their families. Italy has been under the severest lockdown in Europe. We were not allowed to go to our office and work for months. Our staff have been furloughed as advised by the government. We’ve done our best despite these unprecedented conditions to work with our clients to resolve this situation to the best of our ability. Our business is based in Italy and we are subject to Italian laws. We are waiting for grants and support that has not yet arrived. The Italian law Legge 24 Aprile 2020 N 27 Articolo 88 Bis provides that our business can offer a voucher and is not required if unable to give a refund. The Italian government is trying to protect businesses and livelihoods in Italy- not have them suffer serious economic damage by reviews such as yours. We have gone a step further and are working with our clients to provide vouchers if required until the end of 2022. We look at every client’s needs on a case by case basis. We treat real hardship with compassion. You indicate you are in the process of a credit card dispute and you threaten to also damage our reputation by recommending Rick Steves delist us. Please know that we don’t kowtow to threats to destroy our reputation. We’ve been recommended by Rick for 20 years and for good reason. We are in business because we have good customer service and the thousands of good reviews over the years will attest to that. And by the way if you look at Rick’s own Coronavirus FAQ page, you’ll see that his wonderful company is dealing with the massive task of refunding and crediting for future tours as well. If you actually are one of our customers, we advise you work positively with us to become a part of the Covid 19 solution and stop being a part of the problem.

We had two amazing tours in Florence with Martina G - the walking tour and then a tour of the Bargello Gallery. Her knowledge of the history of each artwork and sculpture was absolutely incredible. And, as an artist herself, she pointed out details in each work that gave us a deep appreciation of each artists techniques, styles and intent. We can't give a high enough recommendation to Martina and Artviva Tours.

We pre-booked the Florence in One Glorious Day (or Two) tour, and planned for two separate days. We thoroughly enjoyed both parts of the tour and had excellent guides. The guides speak very good English, are extremely knowledgeable about Florentine and Italian art and history. We were very impressed with our guides! The tour lengths were perfect.

Florence came alive for us in the approximately two-hour guided tour. Our very knowledgeable tour guide helped us make sense of the town, understand the culture and wake up to the depth of the treasures that many walk by without noticing. This walk added value for our entire stay. This is a first-class tour company with highly knowledgeable and personal guides.
