Beyond exceptional
While on our first trip to Florence, seeing David was a priority and what we got was SO much more!
Our local guide Vanessa warmly greeted us, welcoming us to the city and spoke in-depth about the history, the culture and all the amazing things to experience there. Getting about as lucky as any tourists could, it ended up being just my husband and I in her group so we easily moved through the city with her.

Understanding how Michaelangelo felt about his sculptures changes how you look at David... it's almost otherworldly inception, the grace & beauty it held. You walk away with such a reverence for both artist and piece.

We took a side path, less "touristy", and found not only the best fresh fruit stand in all of Italy I might say, but a perfect pasty shop and a exceptional lunch spot she introduced us to... even spoke to the owner & got us a table for later in the day! She told us which places weren't as authentic, places you'd pay more for less at, which is always a welcome addition.

She picked up quickly that I'm a history buff so she gave me interesting tidbits I didn't know, about the city and the Medici family's deeply rooted love for Florence. From the Duomo to the Palazzo Vecchio, she really took her time to touch on the importance of each building and their historical importance.

We couldn't have asked for a more detailed walk through of this ethereal city, with someone who clearly loves it, and a better experience throughout the entire day.

I couldn't give higher praise to Vanessa if I tried...she made our day perfect in every way, magical & memorable with every step!

To note, the lunch spot had the BEST steak I've ever had in my life. Ever. And I'm from Texas :)

Wonderful tour, not to be missed!
Sep 2019
One of the highlights of Florence is seeing Michelangelo’s statue of David, so I was dismayed to find out that tickets for the Gallery were sold out for Thursday, September 26 the only day my son and I could go. Fortunately, we were able to find a tour of the gallery for that day on-line with Get Your Guide that still had a few spaces. I was thrilled to learn that we could get in, plus we skipped the hours long line and we had a tour guide. It cost more than general admission, but it was worth every penny.

Francesca Ciappi, the guide was a charming young Italian woman who added so many interesting details about Michaelangelo and The David. She held my attention the whole time we were in in the museum, about 1 1/2 hours. The David is immediately recognized as a masterpiece of sculpture, even by the casual viewer. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Francesca added so many historical details about the history and politics of the Florence of Michaelangelo’s era and I am sure I got much more out of seeing The David with her than if I had been on my own. It made me want to learn more about Michelangelo and the Italian Renaissance , even though I had read The Agony and the Ecstasy many years ago.

I would highly recommend this tour in general and our guide Francesca Ciappi in particular. If I am fortunate, I hope to return to Italy and the beautiful city of Florence in the near future. I would be glad to use Get Your Guide again, since the whole experience was smooth, effficient, and a great value.

Leonardo, our guide, gave very good background information. No doubt that the David is the star of the show but there are definitely other attractions to see as well. The tour was well organized and everything ran smoothly. We booked two trips with Keys of Italy and both were really well run with excellent guides.

We did skip the line tour. Well organized and informative but didn’t need 1 1/2 hours to see. David was the show and could have done it faster. Maybe would have been better with more historically fun information

We wanted to see the main points in a short amount of time after many tours! Our guide was very entertaining and informative and really made the tour fun. We had seen David over 40 years ago and wanted another view of him. We visited Sept 15 in the afternoon English tour.
