About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- mary s0 contributionsSo much fun touring Tuscany w/ Demetra! We booked two half-day tours with Demetra in July, ‘23. We did a walking tour of Siena one afternoon, then a tour of San Gimignano the following day. We were on a family trip w/ 8 of us total, ranging in age from 13-78. Demetra did an exceptional job keeping us all informed, intrigued and totally fulfilled! She has a very easygoing and relaxed attitude which made us all super comfortable asking questions, making requests, etc. Her tours are a great balance of both historical facts and stories about local customs/folklore. Both tours were really a lot of fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our time w/ Demetra and will absolutely book w/ her again on future trips to Tuscany. And you should, too!!Written July 20, 2023
- bbrowne180 contributionsGreat walking tour of SienaDemetra is great. She was super knowledgeable about Siena, shared great stories with historical detail, speaks great English, and was very nice to spend time with. We had a big group and she did very nicely with kids. We learned a lot.Written April 11, 2023
- 856tamaral0 contributionsCulture, Art and a fantastic local guideDemetra was a fantastic guide and shared her knowledge of the city both as a resident and through her study and love of art history and how this is reflected in the architecture. She guided us through the city’s key sites, its history & culture and made it come to life for us.Written April 11, 2023
- Beth H0 contributionsGreat tourExcellent way to learn more about the history of San Gimignano and surrounding area. Demetra was friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable.Written November 22, 2021
- Clarissa D0 contributionsLocal Handicrafts/Artisans Tour FirenzeDemetra was a wonderful and accommodating guide. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our time together. Had the chance to speak to, and learn from, the various artisans that we visited. All of whom I would not have known to visit or see if Demetra had not shown the way!Written September 3, 2019
- Mary A0 contributionsFood walking tour of FlorenceThis was three hours so well spent. Demetra was the perfect combination of informative and entertaining all while teaching us not only about Florence’s history but also traditional food traditions. She led us to several fantastic food stops where we enjoyed cantucci, pasta, gelato and more.Written July 17, 2019
- Pioneerintrees0 contributionsDon’t miss Demetra!Eight friends joined Demetra for an educational walk through Florence, stopping along the way to eat some authentically made food. We started with samples of cantucci and Holly wine which were outstanding. At the market we learned a lot about various foods and decided to try a selection of incredible fresh pasta and sauces. Wow! Some of us were intrigued by the tripe and tried a traditional sandwich. Of course we concluded at an historic gelateria and we were not disappointed. What a wonderful morning!Written July 15, 2019
- whitepinez0 contributionsTerrific private walking tour of Siena!Demetra gave our group of first-time visitors to Siena a fabulous introduction to this beautiful city! In two hours, Demetra gave us a sense of Siena's rich and colorful history, showing us many of its iconic locations, including the Duomo, Santa Maria della Scala, the Torre del Mangia, and, of course, the Piazza del Campo, where the horse races of the Palio di Siena have been taking place since the 1600's. The highlight of the tour was definitely our visit to the small, beautifully renovated museum of the Contrada Priora della Civetta (Owl Contrada), one of the 17 districts of Siena that compete in the Palio. Here we saw many of the contrada's exquisite costumes and banners, as well as photos and videos of Owl victories in past Palios. The stable that houses the Owl contrada's horses in the days before the races is also part of this museum. Wandering the streets of the Centro Storico on our own would have been been perfectly charming, but our experience was enhanced immensely by the knowledge and insights Demetra provided. We recommend her most highly!Written June 4, 2018
- Lori B0 contributionsSiena with DemetraOur time spent with Demetra in Siena was extremely welcoming and pleasant. We were on our way back to Florence from a lunch and wine tasting at a Brunello farm and was able to make a stop in Siena specifically to see the Siena Cathedral and do a quick tour with Demetra. We only had 2.5 hours before having to take the bus back to Florence. Fortunately, we found Demetra and she was able to tour us and give us the highlights of the area. She made certain that we were on the correct bus after we toured. Having a personal tour guide afforded us a greater experience in each area that we visited. Watching large groups of tourists follow behind their guide holding a little identification stick made me appreciate the intimacy of our guides while vacationing.Written July 30, 2017
- Jenni K0 contributionsWineries and Historic VillagesDemetra is a wonderful guide! She makes history come alive and is great fun to be with. She'll even give you tips on restaurants, THE best gelato place, and where to get your nails done. Highly recommended. 😊👏👏Written May 27, 2017
- fabione790 contributionsA nice walking around Florence with DemetraYeeees! The tour with Demetra was amazing! We saw a lot of awesome places: churches, palaces and views.. She told us a lot of information whithout being never boring. We saw all downtown churches. Then we stopped in a "gelateria" where I tasted one of the best ice cream in my life. We ended the tour with the fantastic view of "piazzale Michelangelo"... Florence is beautiful and with Demetra I had the chance to appreciate all its beauty.Written October 15, 2016
- Lisettaner0 contributionsDemetra super tour guide! We spent the afternoon in Florence with some friends and we enjoyed a lot discovering secrets and specialities of Florence with Demetra. I was impressed by discovering the history of Florence in such a pleasant way! Demetra is a very professional guide, she knows very well how to mix art, history, little "gossip" about the past and little breaks like the one we had in an awesome gelato place (the best ice cream I ever had in Florence)... we had also the opportunity to see how they make gelato!😊 Even if you are planning a short stop in Florence, don't miss her tours!Written October 15, 2016
- 6southbound0 contributionsWalking tour of FlorenceMy family of 7 (kids all in their 20s) enjoyed a very pleasant half day with Demetra the first week of September, roaming around Florence visiting and learning about a number of the city's fascinating historic landmarks. Of course, Florence cannot be appreciated in only 3 hours, but it was enough to whet our appetite for another time! Demetra also arranged for skip-the-line tickets to The Galleria dell'Accademia and gave us a quick run through of the important works (David!). While strolling through this beautiful city, we had many questions re its contemporary and ancient life which Demetra answered easily, she was a wealth of knowledge!Written October 10, 2016
- Vivieyra0 contributionsAwesome guide and tourWe did a private tour with Demetra last September. We had our 3 year old son with us. From the planning of the tour, Demetra gave us great suggestions and designed the perfect tour for us. The tour was great, she made it very interesting and fun for us. Our son even had the chance to ride on the beautiful carrousel in one of the piazzas. The restaurant Demetra suggested for lunch was one of the best in our whole trip. Thank you Demetra for a great tour and time in Florence.Written September 24, 2016
- guanabana20 contributionsFantastic Tour of Siena & San GimignanoDemetra was an excellent guide. We met her in Siena after taking a bus from Florence and we spent the morning there seeing the main sites and having a bit of time to look at the shops by ourselves. She was very knowledgeable and informative on the history of the city and knew the best local places to buy the local cakes, breads and pasta. In the afternoon we went with her by bus to San Gimignano which is amazing and so different. Again Demetra was brilliant and gave us a great insight into it's fascinating history. Would definitely recommend her for local tours.Written September 12, 2016
