This is one of the tours that we were most looking forward to on our 11-day Italian adventure. Chiara was our guide and we couldn't have had a better experience. She was courteous and professional, and even allowed my 12-year old daughter to be her "assistant" for the day. When going on long walking tours, it is pleasing to have a guide that keeps you engaged and interested. Chaira did just that, which really helped make our Pisa and Lucca day a memorable one! If you book this tour, request Chiara; you won't be disappointed!

This was a very full day with a lot of driving and a lot of walking. Unfortunately the day we did it the weather was very hot. The guide (Jordano ) had a very challenging job but was extremely accommodating and helpful. Our driver (Lucca) always had us there on time and the coach was cool and comfortable. Would definitely do this tour again, but would probably try a quieter season next time.

Tour starts at the bus stop.. on time.. good guides.. 1 tour leader and then 2 local guides.. all great..

Decent bus.. parks a bit away from Pisa and you have to walk but the guide ensured we were safe..

Don't take the tour if you want to climb up Pisa (now allowed) - that needs more time..

Lucca was a surprise.. the local guide was charming and had a passion to show us around.. enjoyed the experience...

The day trip content was fine with an excellent guide (Antonella). PROCESS: Checkin left me fuming. The descriptor in the ticket issued by Tripadvisor is incomplete. 1) Bar Reali - there is NO SIGN on the south side of the building in Piazza Della Stazione so you can’t identify the checkin location at the north end of the piazza adjacent to Binario 16 (for your information its street number 50 in Piazza Della Stazione. 2) The signage for Ciaoflorence: the provider had unhelpfully hidden on the footpath behind a queue of clients. 3) The telephone help line Thursday 19/4 at 0839 (4/19 if you’re American) sighted in the ticket provided an offhand and no-help response. 4) the air conditioning on a brand new bus was substandard; from checkin you have to walk about 400 metres in a warm morning then get on a hot bus. I would NOT recommend this service due to the off hand attitude by the person on the phone and the person ‘greeting you’ when you finally locate the checkin site. Customer Service 1.01: know what your customers expect (ease of identification) and provide it. 😡

We took the Pisa and Lucca day trip with Ciaoflorence Tours in early October.
We were quite a large group in a big bus which concerned us somehow. But our guide Mateo, impressively fluent in four languages, had everything under control. He was responsible for the organization, giving us basic information and holding the group together. Our actual tours in Pisa and Lucca were done by different very knowledgeable guides in smaller groups in different languages suported by radios. Pisa of course is always very impressive and even the huge crowds cannot damper the experience. Lucca is less touristy and impresses with it's medival charme. Here we could have used a little more time, the tour was a little on the rushy side.
Alltogether a great day and therefore the five star rating.

Dear client A thousand thanks for your trust and for writing this lovely comment, we highly appreciate it! Pisa is a must see place in the world, Lucca (less known) is a real gem worth to see if in Tuscany! We would love to show you much more, for this we wish you to come back soon :) Take care! If not for our fellow passengers, the trip would have been a total disaster! Our Ciao Florence tour guide Antonella, I believe, intentionally planned to leave us behind in Pisa.
When we arrived in Pisa after the bus trip from Florence, there was no bathroom break or even a mention of a bathroom break before we were handed over to the localPisa guide, who was shocked that there was no bathroom break or sound check of the equipment before we met up with her. She had a schedule to keep, but despite that she walked us to the McDonald's and waited for all of us. The local Pisa tour guide was the best part of the day! I believe the problem started when I mentioned to our Ciao Florence tour guides that a washroom break prior to passing us onto the local Pisa tour guide was warranted and very easily achievable as there was an “open” facility close to the bus parking area. We were asked if we enjoyed our lunch, and thought we should tell the truth for future tours, so we were honest. Our lunch was absolutely terrible (stale hard as rock bread, a tiny unpresentable and awful tasting lasagna on a side/bread plate and small ice cream in a plastic dish) was provided in a dark, windowless room while the tour guides ate out of sight in another part of the restaurant by a beautiful garden!

Just prior to the bus stop there is a public washroom. As the bus driver would not let us use the toilet on the bus under any circumstance including emergencies, I advised both of our tour guides that my wife and sister-in-law needed to use the facilities and as there was no line-up at the public facility it would not take long.

After using the facilities in less than 5 minutes we rushed, almost ran to the bus parking lot, only to find that the bus was no longer there - our bus had left! We started searching the large bus parking area and finally, in the distance, one of our tour guides stepped out of the bus waving her flag.

When we entered the bus fellow passengers told us that they could see us jogging towards the bus parking lot when the bus left and drove off. They yelled for the driver to stop, saying we were not on the bus basically forcing the bus to stop and pick us up. They told us that Antonella was really ‘pissed’ off, which is unprofessional in itself. We are talking about less than 5 minutes.

The other passengers seemed as upset as we were indicating that it was “UNACCEPTABLE” behaviour and that they would never use Ciao Florence again. It upset so many of us for the tour to Lucca. I certainly agree with them. It is very telling that we have never taken a tour where there was NO applause by the passengers at the end!

Dear Customer, Let me express our deepest regrets for the bad feelings that you experienced during the Pisa & Lucca tour. I had the chance to investigate the matter with our tour leader Antonella, who reported us what actually happened that day. First of all, let me say that Antonella is an experienced tour leader who has been working with us for 10 years so far. In her experience, she has never "planned" to leave anyone behind during her tours and, above all, please notice that no tour leader can leave anyone behind on her/his own initiative without the Tour Operator's agreement. As a matter of fact, at the end of the day, no one was actually left behind but, on the contrary, she tried her best, together with her assistant tour leaders, to wait more than she could the customers who were on late at the scheduled meeting points. It is true indeed that there was an issue with some customers, who were more than 20 minutes late at the meeting point for the departure from Pisa to Lucca. But, as I said, the issue was about *other* customers, not about you. So, we do not understand why you are reporting as *your experience* an experience from somebody else... In any case, as you may have noticed, respecting the tour leader's schedule and inform her/him of any need or request is of utmost importance during our tours. Our tour leaders do their very best to make the customers' experience as much comfortable as possible: they call up the group before leaving the city and, in particular, they mention the names of each of our customers and if somebody is not there they call us in order to contact the latecomers. Unfortunately, in order to guarantee a smooth and efficient service for everybody, we cannot wait latecomers more than 20 minutes, otherwise we would create severe inconveniences for all the other customers. As far as the toilets are concerned, all our tour leaders clearly state and point out the washrooms available in the city several times, especially during their explanation on the bus. In particular, Antonella normally advises to use the Carrefour's public toilets in Pisa, by Piazza dei Miracoli. Maybe you were not able to go to the toilet immediately after arriving in Pisa because you had the guided tour scheduled right after the arrival but, in case of an emergency or a specific request, the tour leader always agrees with an additional toilet stop. Did you try to ask her if you could go to the bathroom if it was an emergency? Please note also that the toilets on the bus are available only for long-distance trips, which is not the case of Pisa & Lucca. I'm sorry that you did not like the restaurant room where you had lunch. Considering that it is still low season and the weather does not allow to have lunch outside, lunch is normally provided indoors. Did you try to ask your tour leader about the opportunity to have lunch outdoors? We are really sorry that your lunch in Pisa did not taste good to you. We try our best to offer the most convenient options for lunch during our tours in terms of cost and quality, as, in this case, it is for the Pisa & Lucca lunch, which is offered at a really cheap price compared to other restaurants in the heart of Pisa historical centre: 13,00 € p.p. Having said that, as I mentioned before, no tour leader can "plan" to leave anyone behind without our permission, especially a tour leader with such a long experience like Antonella. As a matter of fact, we actually did not leave anyone behind: according to our policy, we waited 2 latecomers 20 minutes more than the scheduled time and then we had to leave in order to allow other 26 people to enjoy their tour without any other inconvenience. When the bus was about to leave, our tour leader smartly figured out that the customers on late, who, and I want to underline it, *were not you*, were arriving at the meeting point and so she immediately stopped the bus in order to allow them to come in. I'm sure that there is a misunderstanding behind this story. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your last experience with us and we hope we could entertain you again in the future with one of our tours or activities. Kindest regards, Alberto CIAO FLORENCE BOOKING DEPT.

Booked this trip for me and my 70+ mother and it was so worth it. Our main tour guide, Andrea, was friendly and fantastic, and the local guides in both Pisa and Lucca were incredibly knowledgeable. Lucca was such a hidden gem and we definitely preferred it to Pisa but of course, you have to see the famous tower too.

This is a trip that is well worth taking. Pisa is busy and very hot but lots to see, more than just the leaning tower. Beautiful architecture and some free time to wander around. Lucca is the best, what a hidden gem this place is, beautiful ancient walled city, lovely cobbled streets and usually music all through the summer season, a must go to when visiting Florence.
