I recently took this tour with my family and had Stefan and David as our tour guides. I will say that on the day the weather was a mix of high temperatures/sunshine and thunderstorms/rain/hailstones so I feel our day was not going to be as described because of that. It mentions in the description that the group will be 10 or less, yet 17 of us arrived on the bus which instantly lead to the 2 tour guides creating 2 separate groups which I feel had us at a disadvantage as the tour guides were split and it was difficult for them to keep track of the group.
On the day we were picked up in Florence and brought via bus 15/20 mins outside the city to the garage for a safety briefing, and a quick test drive on a Vespa. This involved driving it up and down the hill at the garage location. If the guide felt you required more practice you were given it and both guides did ensure you felt comfortable. I would suggest anyone going on this tour at least be able to ride a normal bicycle, balance is key with these vespas! And there were some accidents where people fell off the bikes during riding!!
Its worth noting that these are vintage vespas, they need of a bit of love and care. They are old, dented, cracked etc and there were several moments during the tour where they wouldnt start and assistance was needed but again they are vintage vespas from the 80s and are busy little bees with all the tours!
We did not stop at the Church of San Miniato al Monte and we did not take any breaks for photos. Again this may have been due to weather.
We were not given any information from our guide about the area’s history and culture, we had no headsets or walkie talkies as mentioned in the description so couldn't keep in contact in any way. So we literally just drove on the streets not knowing what was around us! We didn't stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo either, but ended up having to pull into a small bar/cafe for 30 mins or so while our tour guide headed back to find others from the group.
The country estate is a beautiful area and we were served a meal of pasta with tomato sauce, meats, cheese and brusschetta on the terrace. Nothing overly impressive but was needed after we were soaked to the bone from the thunderstorm. Our guide didn't spend any time with us really on the day, only drove in front of us in a fiat 500, which is a shame. They were not present during the lunch at all either so we were not given any history of the area or information about the food.
With saying all the above, our group did enjoy the driving of the Vespas, it was a bit of fun and we did spend the day laughing between ourselves as the whole tour was like an episode of Fawlty Towers!!!!

10/10 recommend!
This tour starts off with a short bus ride from the city to a Tuscan Hills garage where the vespas are stored. Our guide Christian gave us a little bit of history during the ride and pointed out a few good viewpoints.
Once at the garage, everyone gets a practice ride on a vespa to make sure they're comfortable. Christian's explanation of how to start and stop the vespa was SUPERB. He was an excellent tour guide throughout and really made the experience memorable. 5 stars for Christian!
The tour itself was very scenic. My wife and I had been to Florence before but never explored the Tuscany region so being able to ride around on a vespa allowed us to cover a lot more ground and really explore the area. You're riding on the road with other cars so you have to be careful but it's nothing that I would describe as super dangerous. The most dangerous part would be having to make an unprotected left turn from a neighborhood onto the main road against cross traffic but there aren't many of those.
The tour has a break where you're served lunch and a glass of wine from a local farm/residence. The food is as fresh as it gets and very tasty. There's a small garden nearby where you can walk the property and see all the different vegetables being grown.
This half day tour was perfect for our itinerary because we got back to the city with plenty of time to rest and recharge for a second round of exploration in Florence.

If you want a short break from the city of Florence north of the river Arno, what could be better than riding on a vintage Vespa throught the magnificent Tuscan countryside south of the river? For couples booking this activity, I would highly recommend booking a Vespa each, rather than sharing one like we did. Whilst riding the Vespa is relatively straightforward, it does require you to build up a bit of confidence in a short period of time and without hesitation, otherwise it shows! Sitting at the back during our test runs, my wife was not confident in my riding skills and Christian, our brilliant guide, very kindly offered us a beautiful red vintage Fiat 500 instead at no extra cost! We admired the rolling Tuscan hills as we drove through the busy roads and the car was a delight. As a Florentine native, Christian's cultural insights into cuisine, wine and the vehicles themselves was first class. The lovely meal with EXCEPTIONAL Chianti Classico wine was the cherry on the cake! Highly recommended and thank you for this experience Christian!

Me and my friend who had never driven Vespas before arrived at the location to test the Vespas prior to the tour. We got a safety briefing and were asked to sign an agreement which basically suggested if you damage the Vespa or have an accident that was seen as your fault the company would not be liable for this and you will have to pay for the damage caused. (not reassuring at all) We were then asked to trial riding the Vespas in order to see if we were safe to drive them. To be honest it felt more like a driving test - you were asked to ride up a hill and under go a u-turn at the top which was quite narrow and then ride back down the hill. The instructor we had wasn’t encouraging at all and advised if you have any doubts then ‘don’t do this.’ If anything I felt discouraged to ride the Vespa. Out of roughly the 20 people that went on this tour - 16 were beginners and in total only 2 of the beginners were allowed to ride the Vespa. I understand safety is extremely important but do not charge people £115 for something that they cannot fully experience. Those who were told they couldn’t ride the Vespa were allowed to sit in the back seat of a vintage car driven by the instructor where we were taken on the tour so still got to experience the Tuscan views and food etc (which was lovely not worth the money we paid!!!) there was no suggestion of being refunded and I personally felt extremely mislead and deceived. I would certainly not encourage any beginners ( those who have never driven a Vespa before) to go on this experience as you are not encouraged or supported at all

We are sorry that you felt the need to leave this review. We do clearly write that we advise people booking this tour that experience is recommended.. Although most people arrive with no experience and 90% of them are able to do the tour without a problem but if you were told that you could not drive the Vespa then it means that you were not seen as a 'safe' driver and could potentially have had an accident. We want to avoid this. Our insurance (already included in the tour price) in fact covers every scenario apart from driver error so this is another reason why if you would be at risk of causing or being in an accident you should not drive a vespa. You could also end up contributing toward damage to our vehicle.
We understand your disappointment but feel a 2 star review is harsh when it would not have been fair of us to let you drive and potentially be a hazard to yourselves and others. You also actually did the tour, the only difference is that you were driven rather than driving.

This was an incredible experience. I am not a motorcycle rider but now I can now understand the thrill of flying on two wheels and an engine. I think I got my Vespa up to 65 kph (40 mph) and it was a rush. The food stop at the Walkabout villa was fresh and delicious as well. Despite what I am about to say, this was easily a highlight of my trip to Italy and I would do it again in a heatbeat.
That being said, you really need to be confident and comfortable on 2 wheels to enjoy this excursion. My fiancee is 5'2" and was too short to comfortably ride the Vespa (though to be fair, she's never been good on bikes of any size). Luckily the Vespas are able to seat 2 so she was able to ride on the back of mine. I would recommend you be at least 5'4" to ride a solo Vespa unless you are very confident riding on 2 wheels. You will also be driving for many kilometers in Italian traffic just outside of Florence. The tour guide does his best to keep everyone together but your job of not getting run over, not falling behind and getting lost, and not falling off your bike is ultimately your responsibility. They will test your skills before you hit the road so if you're unsure, it's not the end of the world if you sign up for a Vespa and can't hang.
If you are a moderate thrill seeker and have put in your time on a bicycle, I highly recommend this tour. Again, it is nothing to be afraid of if you are confident and a good observant driver. But if you panic easily you may want to ride tandem with someone who doesn't or get a vintage Fiat car which you can rent for this tour instead of a Vespa.

The guides were great! Very fun, outgoing and nice! The views are nice of the city, and they give you some fun stops and food at the end. There is a lot of time reviewing and test riding the Vespas (we had a huge group), so all-in-all you’re in for about 5 hours.
and, only personally, I wouldn’t recommend this for people without any moped/Vespa experience— only because the roads and drivers. They do totally make sure, if you’re not comfortable, to take care of you (one can always ride in one of the cars).

This is for 18 and over guests with a current driver’s license. Professional service from start to finish. Very kind and fun guys lead our tour. The tour starts at a meeting spot in Florence and then they bus you (in a comfy bus) to their garage 20 minutes away where all the new Vespas and classic Fiats await. After testing each rider for ability to drive a scooter, we were off! We speed our way around the hills of Florence, making sure to stop at some local sites (my favorite was the Galileo house!)and then were taken to the company’s beautiful estate to have a convivial dinner. After dinner we were jumped on our bikes and headed back to the garage. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Florence and if given the chance, would definitely do it again.

I really wanted to rate this a 5 star review. The Vespas are great, the guide is great …. But what ruined this trip was the size of the group (17 people), and that no one knew had to ride a scooter, most probably never rode a bike, and some had no idea how to drive on any road with other cars. The reason this was terrible was that it took an hour in a parking lot waiting for them to “learn” to drive. Sitting in the hot sun, just waiting. Then it got worse, because half our group should not have been on the road (VERY busy roads with fast cars), and they drove 10 miles per hour on 45 miles per hour roads (which slowed down our ENTIRE group). This, understandably, made all of the cars very angry, driving behind a long line of slow scooters which should not be on the road. So the cars passed our mile long caravan honking, screaming, and swerving at us. For the entire time we were in the road.
This kind of tour is a great idea, but they packed in TOO MANY people, the people had no idea how to ride (which made it no fun, dangerous, boring, and long), and the had only one guide for the entire large group. I would NOT recommend this tour until they limit the group size to 5 or so, and require more skills from the participants. Even one terrible scooter driver will ruin it for the entire group. My group had 8 that should not have been on the road. Also, because of the too large size group, the tour returned us 45 minutes late.

Such a great way to spend a day in Florence. The countryside and scenery was beautiful and a Vespa tour was the perfect way to see it. Our guide Davide was perfect - balancing information and sightseeing with humour and ensuring the safety of his tour group. The Vespas are vintage which makes them more challenging to ride and a little temperamental, but that is part of the fun and adventure. There were Fiats available for those who couldn’t/didn’t want to take the vespa. The tour concluded with a lovely lunch in the Tuscan countryside. Would 100% recommend for those who like a bit of adventure

Started the day with a friendly Chris then toured with an informative and calm gabriel. Had a great day and would definitely do it again.
I would recommended spending the extra as a couple and having a vaspa each as it will stop the argument of who rides pillion. All the guys clearly love their vehicles and are happy to show you round the array of different vespas and classic fiat 500s they have in the garage.
Being experienced on a bike the only thing I would have found more helpful would have been to ride the bike I took out around the block first before going on the road, as the one i took out handled completely differently to the one they make you have a go on first to prove you could ride.
Even if you have never ridden before they will calmly show you what to do and within a short while those in the group who hadn't got experience were knocking along nicely. They also take you on a route where there isn't a lot of mad drivers and there is a fairly low volume of traffic the views are amazing.

Is there a minimum height requirement to drive the Vespa? I am an adult female and I am 4'10".

I’m 4’10” too and had no problem as a passenger on a double Vespa.
While the company did not have a minimum height requirement for driving, I didn’t feel comfortable as a driver during my practice ride in the parking lot. It’s fine when the Vespa is in motion because your feet have a place to rest. The challenge is when you stop, you lean the Vespa til your feet touch the ground. If you have short legs, the Vespa leans a lot and it takes a bit of arm strength to keep it from going all the way over on its side. I just switched to being the passenger and had a great time.
