This was such a fun day! The market in Florence was an amazing "feast" for the senses with fantastic smells, sights, sounds and tastes. From there we took a short ride to a beautiful estate overlooking the city, where olive trees and herbs made for a fantastic photo op. Then it was time to cook! Our hostess, Carmella, was an Italian ball of energy, and she kept us entertained while making sure we were well fed. Our guide and translator, Lavignia, did a great job of keeping the day on track and answering all of our questions. Amd even though I suspect a lot of great reviews will make this tour more expensive the next time I come, I would recommend this for cooks, foodies, friends, couples, and anyone seeking a great experience in Florence!

This was easily the most fun and entertaining part of my 1 month Italy trip. It's clear Luca absolutely loves doing this, he made a huge effort to involve every person, remember everyone's names and make sure we were all having a good time. I would also recommend doing this if you're on a solo trip and tend to get home sick, I genuinely felt like I was right at home with all the laughs and fun people I met. Maria was also an absolute pleasure. Cannot wait to come back to Italy to do it all over again!

It was a wet rainy Thursday when we did this activity but was by far one of the best experiences we had while in Florence. We first met with Lavinia (our guide and interpreter for Carmela) at the Santa Maria Novella station, then went to the nearby Mercato Centrale to get the ingredients we need. Lavinia gave us some tips and tricks on buying parmeggiano and other hard Italian cheeses and also pointed out places to eat traditional Florentine dishes inside the market. Then we headed to the beautiful estate where Carmela’s kitchen is. Carmela is such pleasant and funny lady and her energy is so contagious that everyone was comfortable in no time, with a little help from the Chiante wine they keep giving us. We also love Lucca who added more fun to the class. We highly recommend Lavinia and Carmela’s class as well as Lucca’s pizza making class if you have more days to spare.
Aside from the pasta we all made individually, we also helped make the other dishes like the pork loin roast, ragu sauce and also made pur own tiramisu. We had some wine with bruschetta with tomato basil topping.

From the moment we met Luca at the meeting point we could tell it was going to be a fun-filled day! Starting out at the Mercato Centrale was a treat. Luca led us from vendor to vendor picking up ingredients we’d need for our lunch. Samples along the way introduced many in the class ( including several children) to new tastes and flavors . After the Mercato, it was just a short drive to the beautiful estate in the Tuscan hills. The cooking class was both a learning experience and truly entertaining. Luca, Guilia and the rest of the team led us through the phases of preparing our meal with skill and humor. The meal and wine were both delicious and enjoying them with the beautiful scenery made everything even more memorable. I couldn’t wait to get home to order Luca’s cookbook and try some more of his yummy recipes. It was one of the best days of our 3 week trip and I would highly recommend the experience to anyone.

I booked this after reading a few reviews and just trying to fill a blank day we had in Florence. Let me tell you these reviews massively undersell this experience.

Luca and Carmela were absolutely incredible. It’s a fun cooking class but it’s really like a show they’re putting on. They were pitch perfect. We had an elderly man who couldn’t walk and needed assistance and an 8 year old boy in our class— and Luca and Carmela made sure every person in the room had a blast. They are funny and talented and fun.

The food is so good. You can’t believe you made it! I learned a lot and I cook a lot. My kids who never cook had a blast and learned a lot too.

The environment is the most beautiful place. It’s all glass windows floor to ceiling and looking out on beautiful Tuscany. The scenery is unreal. The kitchen environment and the tile and the backsplash all look straight out of some Italian fantasy movie. It is just gorgeous. We took photos of everything for the first ten minutes we were there!

It is so much fun. It’s a whole experience, a blast for all ages, and way exceeded our expectations. Afterward my husband told me he was worried that we committed to a 6-7 hour cooking class and that everybody would be super tired of it halfway through—and he was sad when it was over! It was a highlight of our whole Italy trip. If you have children with you (ours are 12 and 15), I super recommend this experience. We had so much fun and it was good to break up our museum days.

Loved it. 10/10. Luca is one of the funniest people I’ve ever seen in this context. He answered our zillion questions on the (very very fancy) bus and made us feel so welcome in Italy. I have traveled and done stuff like this class all over the world and he is hands down one of the best people I’ve ever seen handling a group of 15 tourists and making something really fun.

We loved it. You should totally go!

LUCA! I LOVE YOU!! We had a fabulous day with Luca on this amazing tour. Do this early in your visit to Florence as he gives you some great options at the market to grab a real Italian lunch for much less than you will pay at a local restaurant. The market was so cool and it was fun to shop for the ingredients. I’m not much of a cook but had so much fun learning and I even tried one of the recipes once I got home. Worth every penny and will definitely do it again on my next trip to Florence!

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in Tuscany, you must try the Tuscan Cooking class with Walkabout Tours Florence! Our guide, Luca brought his vibrant personality as he took us through the Mercato Centrale, introducing us to the merchants and showing us how to select the freshest ingredients. It was a bustling and exciting experience that got our taste buds tingling in anticipation of the feast to come.
From there, we were whisked away to a gorgeous farmhouse on the Tuscan countryside, where Luca and Carmela taught us the art of Italian cooking. With their expert guidance, we learned new techniques and cooked up a storm, creating some of the most mouth-watering dishes I've ever tasted. And the best part? We got to eat everything we made, savoring the care and love that went into every bite. But it wasn't just the food that made this experience so memorable. The stunning views of the estate gardens and the warm and friendly personalities of Luca and Carmela made it perfect. It was truly an experience that we will cherish for a lifetime. If you're looking for an authentic Tuscan adventure that will excite all your senses, this is the tour for you. Luca, we LOVE you!

What a dream cooking class! We couldn’t have asked for a better day. First we headed to the market to pick up our ingredients, with Lavinia explaining parts of Tuscan food and drink history along the way. Then we were taken to Walkabout’s Tuscan farmhouse kitchen with the most perfect view where Carmela stole the show with her charisma and energy! Learning to make signature Italian dishes was fascinating and then getting to eat it all at the end was the cherry on top. The food was packed with flavour and so delicious. We’d recommend Walkabout tours to anyone traveling to Florence - forget all the other tour companies!

My husband and I had such an incredible time on this tour! It was one of our favorites from our honeymoon. Olivia was amazing, she took us through the market and showed us and explained to us from top to bottom the market, what is in the market, and which produce we were going to get to make our delicious lunch. We were able to sample a few items which was delicious and had enough time that if we wanted to grab something for ourselves we could! Then we were bused to a BEAUTIFUL Tuscan farmhouse where we met Carmela who was incredible. Olivia and Carmela had such a beautiful friendship and their conversation/them playing off of each other is what truly made the cooking class fun, friendly, and exciting. We were able to interact/cook every step of the way and they were so encouraging for everyone to participate. Learning different ways to make pasta, cooking ragu sauce, and making tiramisu…my goodness I could go on and on! It was truly an incredible experience and we would recommend to anyone wanting a fun, interactive, delicious day!

This was a brilliant day out! Lavinia is a brilliant guide - she was passionate about Florence and the food culture of Italy! After a short walk through the streets of Florence, we went to the markets. This was a great experience and we really enjoyed hearing Lavinia’s explanations of everything she was buying.

After some time, we went up and out of the city (just 10 mins by bus) to a gorgeous Tuscan estate where we were greeted by the funny and fabulous chef, Carmela!

Throughout our time on the estate, we helped make bruschetta, ragu, a pork main and tiramisu! As the group was quite large, we all helped make these parts of the meal!

We had a brilliant demonstration by Carmela of how to make a range of different types of pasta and then we all made our own tagliatelle from scratch!

Throughout the day, Lavinia was wonderful - she was funny, informative and a great translator! We were kept topped up with a gorgeous Chianti wine too!

Overall, we would 100% recommend this pasta making class - it was so much more than learning how to make pasta! We really had a super day!
