Great experience - not to be missed
Such a great tour! We were a little hesitant to book at first, as it's not cheap, but we considered it great value for money by the end of the day. Our guide Alex was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was extensive and the food/drink provision was very generous. There's no hard sell at any of the vineyards, it's all very informative and welcoming; although we couldn't resist purchasing our favourite of the wines :)

      What a great time!
My husband and I had an amazing time with Angela on the Tuscan Chianti Safari tour! Each of the wineries that Angela brought us to were beautiful and had great wines. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Florence and wishes to visit the Tuscan countryside.

      The Best of Tuscany Tour
We had a very enjoyable day touring Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa. Our guide Mano was very well informed and quite humorous. They employed a local guide at Siena who was very knowledgeable about the town. It was a vigorous walk up and down the hilly towns. We stopped for lunch at a winery, which had unedibly hard bread and a sparse salad that was loaded with salt. However the meat and cheese were good. They served 3 different samples of their wine, which really got everyone talking to each other. Mano was very attentive and on the way back, offered to chat with anyone who still had questions

If you want a winery tour, this is the one
This was a wonderful tour and well worth the money. It's on an amazing bus with one of the most friendly tour guides (Angela) you'll ever experience. I'm sure there's cheaper options, but the three winerys they take you to are well worth the extra money. You feel like you're getting a special backstage pass that isn't available to other visitors.

Such a great day! We spent the day with Angela & Sergio and they were so wonderful and we were able to have such a beautiful day, the wineries they took us two were amazing and even the people who worked there were so kind. Would definitely recommend

      Over the Top!
This tour was the highlight of our stay in Florence and in the top two of our trip to Italy overall. Mano, our guide, and Gustof, our driver, are amazing! Mano is extremely knowledgeable, interesting and funny! Worth every dime - especially our amazing lunch at the farmhouse winery!

      Fantastic Experience
My wife and I booked the Chianti Wine Safari for our recent honeymoon. Alex was a fantastic tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very personable. All 3 vineyards we visited were fantastic. We will definitely recommend this to any friends or family members that are visiting Florence in the future

Highly recommend this tour, 10 out of 10. Went on September 16, 2024. We had the best tour guide experience with Angelina. She was so thorough and very informative. She made this experience even better than expected. Answered all questions and was very outgoing. The farm to table lunch was amazing, great food and even they even asked if you wanted seconds. It’s an all day tour but worth it. Sienna, San Gimignano and Pisa were spectacular.

A Great Day...Made Even Better By Alessandro!
Initially, we were under the impression that this trip was for a group of 15-18 people, so when we showed up and saw that we were actually on a bus with 50 others, that was a surprise. However, the day turned out to be very very good...due in large part to our guide Alessandro, who was fantastic. Not only did he share some insights and provocative perceptions of Italian history, he was articulate and funny. After a long day, he even took time to visit with each of us on the bus individually on the way back to Florence from Pisa to see if we had any questions, input, etc. Be advised: There is a lot of walking on this tour, since the buses have to park outside the perimeter of the cities. Our guide in Siena was also a delight. With a bit of orientation from Alessandro, we were pretty much left to ourselves to wander through San Gigniamo and the Pisa main square, which was really no problem since it's pretty hard to get lost in these places. Had a good group on the bus as well. Lunch at the winery was good and the view was incredible, We had been to Siena and Pisa in the past, but the insight and history Alessandro and our Siena guide provided really gave us more appreciation of what we were experiencing. On top of that, Alessandro gave us the inside scoop on what to do while in Florence, what NOT to do, where to eat, and where NOT to eat, and how to recognize the restaurant and retail scams in Florence. This would have been good info to have when we first got here during our three-week stay! If you take this tour, be prepared for a long day (we left at 8 am and got back around 8:40 p.m.) and be ready to walk, sometimes on inclines such as in Siena. And if you're lucky enough to draw Alessandro as your guide, you will definitely have a great experience and learn a LOT! He turned a good day into a great day and an unforgettable experience.

      Fun and informative
Great fun, and we learnt so much about making pizza and gelato. The whole thing was about 5 hours and a nice break from exploring the city or Florence.

We had a fantastic experience with this day trip!

I was initially concerned that it might be a difficult hike but it was done at a comfortable pace, allowing hikers to soak in the surrounding beauty. Our guide, Sarah, took great care to ensure all of us were accounted for and took us from one town to the next seamlessly via train and boat.

We enjoyed the optional lunch (authentic pesto pasta) arranged by the company and would recommend this.

Sarah shared some interesting information about the towns we passed by during the bus ride as well as Cinque Terre itself. We also appreciated her recommendations for gelato, focaccia and wine tasting at the various towns!

An extremely well organised trip and would recommend this.

This was a great trip and absolutely worth the price of admission.

Our guide Manolo was helpful, informative and enjoyable. He gave plenty of options to wander by ourselves or follow him on informative tours through each town. He also had great suggestions on how to see/do almost 'all' of what we were personally interested in (spritz's/shopping/gelato/anchovies/etc) within the time constraints that we had.

We opted for the extra hike in the middle which, admittedly was a lot of walking (about 2 extra km I believe), but nothing too terrible, and definitely worth it for the views.

I read plenty of reviews and the few complaints that I read about seemed completely unwarranted (such as the walking TO the bus from the train station, the title of the trip clearly states that walking is involved on this tour.) The other main complaint that I read about was the lunch portion, due to this we opted out of the lunch prepared for those that choose to purchase it and chose to explore a little on our own. We probably paid a little more than we would have had we purchased the optional meal, but we enjoyed the experience of roaming and popping our heads into each different spot to choose on our own. Our guide even gave us a great suggestion as to where we could eat with amazing views if we got our food 'take away.'

The ONLY drawback to this tour on our end was how little time was spent in the last of the five towns (or 'lands') as this was just as the sun was setting. The timing was prime for photographs of the beautiful buildings and scenery. (dusk and dawn are the best times for landscape photos in terms of lighting) This is no way a criticism of the tour guide or the trip in it's entirety as I completely understand that we needed to stay on a particular schedule to ensure a fully enjoyable day as well as the fact that had we come at a different time of year the lighting wouldn't have been the same.

It does turn out to be roughly a 13 hour day so packing snacks and a water bottle are a must. Ultimately it would have been great to spend more time in each of the 'lands', but there are only so many hours in one day. If you have more time at your disposal, there are other options, but if you only have one day/opportunity to visit Cinque Terra, I can't imagine a better option than the tour provided by Manolo and Walkabout Florence.

My husband and I booked this tour for our honeymoon and it was one of our favorite day trips we did all week! Sarah was an outstanding tour guide! We started with a nice bus ride from Florence to right outside of Cinque Terre. We visited each of the villages and Sarah did a great job for pointing out what made each village unique along the way. The highlight from this day trip is the hike you do between the villages. The views are absolutely breathtaking! It is not too strenuous and Sarah allows everyone to set their own pace and gives a final meeting time so that everyone has a little bit of free time before heading back to the bus. We really enjoyed how knowledgeable Sarah was but also that she was laid back and allowed us to enjoy the views without rushing too much. Highly recommend this tour if you are looking for a little bit of an outdoorsy adventure with amazing views!

Each town is like a museum in itself, with its own identity, eateries and unique quirks. They are colourful, fun to explore and picturesque due to their cliffside location. The towns get very busy on weekends, so I recommend doing a mid-week tour. We got enough time in each town except the first one, as we had to catch the train back but after 12 or so hours of exploring it hardly felt like a raw deal at this point.

The seafood and pasta for lunch was very good food, though I thought it was overpriced. The hike was short but sweet (30mins-1hr), which is the only way to logistically fit such an event in with such a large group. Yes, there was I'd say around 70-80 people on the tour.

Most of the unique food options come in the last town of Monterosso, including fried pizza dough and a wine tasting. I advise getting some alcohol here for the boat tour, which gives a great new perspective of the five towns.

The tour guides were great, extremely well informed and helpful from lending spare face masks to paying for the bathroom for those with no cash, which is really appreciated.

A great day, not too rushed in my opinion but I would recommend returning on your own itinerary if you wish to sunbathe or spend more time in the many bars/eateries located there.

A very well-organized and long tour (13 hours) with Christian and Gabriel. They broke up a rather large group into two to provide better service which was much appreciated. Christian presented the group with a lot of interesting and insightful history of the region in general and Cince Terre specifically. Be prepared for a long trip especially if the day is hot, sunny, and humid. Use of bathrooms at the train stations and train tickets are part of the price. However, you will need to pay to use the bathroom at the embarking station at La Specia which is right after the 2 hour bus ride (or you can buy something at the cafe and use their bathroom but the line can be long). We brought along our own lunch so I can't say much about the food in the towns, but I would imagine its pretty similar anywhere you go in Italy. The crowds in each town can be annoying but hey its the high point in Summer and it was also the August holiday for Italians. Save the swimming for that last stop before getting on the boat ride for the return trip (awesome coastal views)! There are free showers and some free spots by the rocks at the end of the beach.

This hike was the highlight of our trip! Martina was an amazing guide she stressed the fact that this hike was enjoyable and not a race, take comfortable shoes and clothes, as you do hike all day. Don’t forget your swimsuit for a dip at 2 of the spots!! Martina was so great and made sure everyone was doing okay and chose amazing places to replenish during the hike. We were able to enjoy delicious seafood and had some of the best pesto pasta! During this hike we had the best tour guide ever! Her name is MARTINA and she was extremely caring and outgoing. She went the extra mile to make sure if anyone had question or wanted tips on what to eat and do she spent as much time as people needed answering all these questions! THANK YOU MARTINA!

We attended this tour as part of our honeymoon to Italy. Beware this is a LONG DAY but really incredible! The tour started early in the morning and then we were on the bus for about an hour and a half. The bus wasn't the most comfortable from a legroom perspective, but it was clean and new. Upon arrival at the train station, you're hustled onto a commuter train for a few stops and then off to the races. This is a very long day of walking and a lot is packed into the day, but we really enjoyed ourselves and were totally in awe of the beauty. We also had lunch on our own instead of the group lunch, and found an amazing restaurant and had the entire dining room to ourselves! The only drawback is the trains that take you from one town to another - the platforms are unbearably crowded and it was incredibly difficult to stay together, but that's not the tour company's fault - the country needs to have more trains to get everyone around. Can't recommend this tour enough!

Sarah was very knowledgeable of the area with good presentation without overdoing the detail. As each wanted to know more about a particular, Sarah could explain so that we all could hear and understand. She was concerned with our safety and the enjoyment of the countryside and small towns and allowed the correct amount of free time. Well done.

If you have a limited amount of time to squeeze in a visit to Cinque Terre, then this is the way to go! We were based in Florence for a week, and while there’s tons to see in the city, we wanted to take advantage of our proximity to do some sightseeing elsewhere. Cinque Terre has been on my bucket list of places to see, so we jumped at the chance to book the tour through Walkabout Tours. Mind you, I spent hours scouring the various itineraries and reviews of other touring companies, but the itinerary offered by Walkabout is by far the best!!!
The tour itself is well organized for managing visits to all five (Cinque) towns. And our guides, Chris and Alessandro, were experienced and knowledgeable guides about the entire area. They were great at pointing out points of interest along the bus ride to and from the train station in La Spezia. From there, you then visit the five towns.
Each of these towns is quaint, and each offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Our guides were great at taking us to the best spots to take pictures and gave us tips on specialty foods or stores to check out in each town. This is a great time saver as we are on a pretty tight schedule to see all five towns in one day. It was also fascinating to hear about the history of the towns and the significance of the layout of terraces and buildings.
You do have the option to do lunch on your own, but we highly recommend going with the guides’ suggestion - it’ll save you precious time from having to find a restaurant yourself. The weather was perfect that day and we were able to enjoy our meal eat with a beautiful view at of the valley below and ocean just beyond.
After lunch, our group was split into two: those who wanted to hike into the next town or go on by train. The later choice affords you more time in the next town to do some souvenir shopping, or taste some food there… we chose the latter. FYI- if you want a truly unique souvenir, consider stopping by and checking out the work of a local artist in Vernazza. He does some beautiful work that captures Cinque Terre, and will autograph anything you purchase (and provides a travel tube for your purchase).
The day ends with a fantastic boat ride from Monterosso Al Mare to Riomaggiore. What can I say about this other than spectacular! To see each of the five towns from this view was without a doubt the highlight of our day.
This tour was perhaps our most favorite of our time spent in Italy. The only caution is that the advisement by the company, i.e., “involves a lot of walking” is spot on and no joke!!! These are very old towns so there are no lifts to get around on (except at the train station, lol). There are lots of stairs involved, and of varying heights and depths. And truly, lots of walking in general but also well worth it. Absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this tour!!!

I will say, we were hesitant to book this hike concerned about how rigorous it sounded in other reviews, but I am SO HAPPY we did!

This was our first time in Cinque Terre and my boyfriend and I both agreed that it really took the stress off of us to have tour guides leading us through each of the villages and letting us know when to be where. We enjoyed being able to have a little time in each village and, when we return, know where we want to spend further time in.

In regards to the hike, it was on the tougher side and it was quite hot the day we went as well. I also stupidly forgot my inhaler, so that made it extra difficult, but that's all on me. Even with a few stops to take in all the breathtaking views, it was absolutely doable. There was so much flexibility in the tour as well in terms of if you want to join the group for lunch or not, where you can wander around to, and you can even decide to skip the hike and take the train over to the next city if you aren't up for it. I highly, highly suggest hiking though! I still daydream about those views.

All in all, our tour guide, Alessandro, made everything super stress free and made sure we got through everything in a timely manner. Loved every minute of it!
