Class sizes are small, so you receive personal instruction from a trained Italian chef. Make pizza dough from scratch, learn gelato-making tips, and enjoy tastings of both at the end of your class.

Your Italian culinary immersion begins in the afternoon or evening in central Florence, depending on the session you select. The class begins with an introduction to pizza in Italy, from its long history to its different regional varieties. Once you’ve learned all about Italy’s favorite dish, don your apron and hat and get cooking. Class sizes are kept small, so you receive personal attention from the chef. Learn how to make your own pizza dough from scratch, knead the dough, prepare traditional tomato sauce, and select your own toppings. As the dough rises, you also learn how to make gelato—Italy’s answer to ice cream, famous for its rich, ultra-creamy consistency. End your class with a meal: Eat the pizza you made from scratch and enjoy gelato for dessert, plus glasses of wine or soft drinks. A recipe booklet is also included so you can try out your new skills upon returning home.

Loads of fun making pasta! A must do in Firenze!
How much fun! Our chef Federico was fantastic. We learnt loads and had bundles of fun. Frederico was a real natural, gave us lots of fab tips and was both relaxed and attentive. Even my husband who has no cooking skills at all managed it! We will definitely be making fresh egg pasta for all the family when we get home. A great atmosphere too and a lovely finish by tasting our productions along with some nice Chianti. We fully recommend to all! Grazie Mille Federico!

      Amazing day in tuscany
This was a great tour. They start out with a quick driving lesson of the Vespa. It is a bit intimidating but it is nice you can practice before riding. Then, you take the Vespa’s about 40 minutes into a small countryside town. It was lovely! We headed back and went to a wine tasting followed by a lovely meal overlooking Tuscany. It was the perfect length tour and I loved seeing the rolling hills of vineyards and olive groves. I would highly recommend.

So much fun making pasta - but "togliete quelle mani sporche dai miei pomodori"
I had an absolutely cracking experience at the group cooking class in Florence! Starting with the visit to the local market, Dave talked us through some of the local delicacies including a few cheeses key to a successful italian meal. We got to taste some 12yo balsamic vinegar and was told in no uncertain terms by a friendly trader "togliete quelle mani sporche dai miei pomodori", which translates roughly to don't touch my tomatoes. Dave, guided us through every step of the process, making sure that everyone felt included and comfortable. The pasta-making session was a hands-on experience, where we learned to make pasta dough. While I'm not a huge dessert fan, the tiramisu was fun and easy to make - thanks to Stephano. The clear and simple instructions ensured the end result was a tasty tiramisu that lasted on seconds on the table. Overall, the group cooking class exceeded all my expectations. The combination of the market visit, pasta-making, and tiramisu, shared with some new friends made the 5 hours fly. I just went and bought some semolina, ready for the weekend.

      Loved this tour!
My favorite tour in Italy so far! The whole crew were so incredibly patient and kind, especially to those who had never rode a Vespa before (including myself). The views were amazing and the wine tasting after was incredible with breathtaking views. They took us to amazing view spots and a super cute town for a quick pit stop to walk around. 100% would recommend this tour and the guides.

Best Way to See Leonardo's The Last Supper
This was a group tour, and it was very well organized and managed. The Towns of Italy team did a great job of managing a good sized group through the tour, which is critical, since the amount of time a tour group gets to see the paintings is rigidly limited. It was all I could ask for!

      A great experience!
This was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. The class length gave us enough time to make and eat our food. The trip to the market was also very informative. Our teachers were great and encouraging.

      Worth it!
Our tour guide was informative and always smiling, and she was knowledgeable. We had a tour inside the church and then started to climb the stairs till we reached the dumo. It is a bit challenging to climb all the stairs. More than 400 steps. The view from the dumo and skipping the line is worth the money. The tour doesn't include the baptistery nor the museum, but you can use the tickets that they provide to visit them later after. The tickets are good for 3 days.

      Totally awesome
We loved the experience with Federico. We learned so much and it was the first time we made homemade pasta and it was fun. The market tour was awesome and the food tasting in the market was top notch. I highly recommend this experience.

An incredible experience! Chef Katerina joyfully guided us in making our own pizza and gelato from scratch. She skillfully involved every child in the room and kept all ages entertained as we made our own dinner and dessert. Such a lively, entertaining and tasty evening!

Our family loved our two days in Florence, which was capped off by our cooking class with Caterina. She was engaging, funny and patient and entertained each of our 18, 16 and 13 year old children. She had a passion for traditional Italian cooking, particularly her family’s gelatoria. We had an outstanding time and good meal. We highly recommend making this class part of your Italian experience.

The class was so much fun. It was a small setting with two families doing the class. Both instructors / chefs were very welcoming and made it all enjoyable. We made pizza from scratch and watched the chef make the gelato with a coupe of helpers from the class. They had soft drinks for the kids and wine for the adults. It was a great experience.

Our experience with this workshop was top notch! The meet up point was easy to find, and the walk there was great. The quality of ingredients we were given was fantastic.

We found this to be a great opportunity to meet other people in the same situation as us and connect with others.

Making the food was fun (almost as fun as eating it!), But our host Caterina is who made this experience memorable. She was kind and witty and made all participants despite their skill level feel validated. You could tell she genuinely cares about you and wanted to connect.

We would highly recommend this activity to anyone who is in love with food, and is looking for an evening of fun and laughter!

A bit hard to find. Meeting is on ground floor in a lively area and the class is on the second floor. We liked the space. Clean professional looking. Biggest problem we had was we didn’t get what we paid for. Spent about 200 euros for 2 for pizza and gelato making. 3 hour class. Yes, there was pizza making but it was NOT gelato making. It was more a demonstration. The instructor mixed the few pre-measured ingredients with some fresh vanilla bean. That took her no more than 5 minutes and then she put it in an ice cream making machine (or some machine like that) and then x minutes later it was done. There were 9 students and no students measured or mixed any ingredients to make gelato. To me, that’s a demonstration. In the description of the class, it mentions the students get to mix ingredients to make gelato (that didn’t happen) and it mentions chocolate in the gelato (there was no chocolate). We did make a waffle cup but even this was not that exciting. We did not get to measure or make the batter for the waffle. It was made by the instructor. We got to pour it in the waffle machine and take it out. As for the pizza making, it was okay but only 2 people can bake pizza at a time so there’s a wait. What was disappointing to me was they don’t tell you how to make the tomato sauce. I do not think I learn enough to replicate the cooking at home. Very disappointed. Also, we were promised a recipe booklet (per class description) but no one got one. Instead recipes were emailed to us after class but they did not match the classroom work so that was not good. Also, total class time was about 2 hours and 20 minutes - not 3 hours. Maybe it would have been 3 hours if we had actually made gelato. We do not recommend this cooking class. It was a ripoff and misleading.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your precious feedback, which we value very much. I am truly sorry to hear that the tour didn't fully meet your expectations. The experience had a duration of 3 hours, as advertised. We have checked the information with the other guests and with the chef, who confirmed. Concerning the ice-cream making, in our description we always specify that for this part will be the chef showing the process and clients assisting, since doing it differently and not using the mixing machine, would require too much time to be done in a 3 hours cooking experience. We are sorry if you feel this detail was not correctly advertised, and we'll double check the description in order to understand if it could been better specified. This experience is actually one of the most valued by our guests, family, couples and single travelers, but since we value our guests and their opinion very much, we will take good note of your opinion about this experience and positively apply it, in order to improve our services. Kindest regards, Laura Cimino Booking Office Manager

It was a lot of fun! Our instructors were very nice, very engaging with the group (there must have been 20 of us) and a lot of fun. They showed us how to make pizza crust correctly (who knew we have been doing this wrong all these years!) and how to make gelato. Then we actually got to make our own pizzas and I have to say this was the best homemade pizza I have had in a long time. The dough was light and airy. I always try to find a “learning experience” when we go on vacation. This was clearly a hit with older children - get inside on a hot day, make your own food and then enjoy it. Definitely a must do event while in Florence.

My wife and adult son and I are “foodies” from the U.S. We enjoyed this experience tremendously. Our teacher, chef Tomoso, was engaging, intelligent, kind and helpful. No matter the level of experience, he helped all to make their own pizza (and eat it). Wine was served and we also helped prepare chocolate gelato, which was dessert. The class started on-time, in a group of about 15 or so. Total time was about 2 and a half hours. Fully recommended!

I took my ten year old daughter to the class. It was fantastic! We learnt a lot about the history of the foods we made, and our pizzas were the best we have tasted! Federico tuned in to my daughter’s needs and helped her when she needed it. We met some great people there and felt like we had an authentic Italian cooking experience! Alice was a wealth of knowledge on gelato and we now know how to pick the best ones! It was delicious and I can’t wait to try our new skills at home. We also were presented with a certificate of proficiency and were emailed the recipes. I totally recommend doing this class! I wouldn’t recommend it for children under ten as there is lots of explanations and steps before the actual hands on stuff. Although there were several kids there who coped amazingly. Thanks Florencetown for a truly memorable experience!

My family of 4 (including 2 young kids) took the Pizza and Gelato class in Florence. This was one of the highlights of my entire visit to Europe! The instructor, Tomasso had lots of tips and good information to share, and he was great with my kids. It was really fun making our own pizzas, and they turned out great. The gelato was made by the instructor and it was the best gelato of our trip. Would highly recommend taking this class!

Also wanted to note, my daughter has been refusing all pizza since coming to Italy because they don’t serve it with ranch dressing. She ate her entire pizza during this class so thank you!!
