What to expect
Meet your chef guide and fellow food lovers in central Florence for your market tour and cooking class. Although eating at every restaurant in the city is a great way to experience Tuscan cuisine independently, understand Italian culinary history more fully when you make it with your own hands. Stroll through the Central Market to see the array of fresh produce and Florentine delicacies. Allow your chef guide to introduce you to some specialty purveyors and collect the ingredients for your meal. Know exactly what to look for at your local market when you prepare this meal back at home. At the cooking school, tie on your apron and get to work. With expert guidance, prepare a typical Italian lunch of dishes such as fresh pasta, bruschetta, sauce, and tiramisu. While you cook, sample fresh tastes of produce from the market. Sit down with your fellow travelers to feast on the meal you have prepared, accompanied by Chianti wine. Take the opportunity to ask any questions and chat with your co-chefs. Leave the experience with a diploma and recipe book to help you recreate your experience at home.

A great way to dip into Italian food and their way of life!
Jul 2021
As first timers to Italy, this was a great way to start our experience and certainly set the standard for Italian food for the rest of the holiday. Caterina and Daniel were so friendly and taught us so much about the Italian way of life. Caterina brought us on a tour of the local market to show us proper authentic Italian fresh foods. Then we returned to make different pastas and tiramisu which we got to enjoy after (soooo tasty). We also had some lovely wines, cheeses and balsamic vinegar which were next level.

A great way to find out more about proper Italian foods and their way of life. Also Caterina and Daniel were just lovely hosts.

Excellent cooking experience!
Jul 2021
Caterina La Mantia from Florencetown is a gifted cucinera ( her own term) and an excellent teacher and advocate for using good produce. I could have spent hours at the market learning from her about the produce in season, the regional specialities and the differences in quality of produce available to the consumer. Her cooking class is as vibrant as her personality. It is a joy to be around her and to learn the tricks of the Italian kitchen (e.g. an extra spoon of sugar for good luck for the tiramisu). We (my husband and I and our 13 year old son) loved Caterina and the class. A Florence must do!

A Must if You're in Florence!
Jun 2021
If you are in Florence, this class is a Must! This class was outstanding! Our family of five had such a fun time walking to the market, learning from a couple vendors, trying a few samples...it was great! We had Caterina as our chef, and she was so wonderful! We made ravioli, tagliatelle, bolognese/ragu sauce, Sicilian cherry tomato sauce and tiramisu. It was all delicious! Caterina really took time to teach our kids (teenagers) and it was fun watching them appreciate the fruits of their labor. Definitely don't want to miss this!
We were there in June 2021 when things were just opening up. Luckily for us, there weren't a lot of tourists and many attractions were not busy. At all. Put this on your list of things to do.

Lovely cooking class
Feb 2020 • Solo
I opted for this cooking class as a solo activity while in Florence and I am so glad I did. Apart from learning more about cooking by the amazing chef Tommaso, it was a great activity to talk to other people from different parts of the world. We cooked fresh pasta and tiramisu and chef prepared two delicious sauces. Visit to the market was also really fun. Highly recommended :)

Great Experience!
Aug 2019
I'm not entirely sure what I expected walking in, but this exceeded it all! I loved walking through the market and getting to try all the little tastings along the way; that was actually where I got the majority of my souvenirs from!

While the class as a whole was on the larger side, it still felt like a smaller class as we were broken up into smaller groups and were able to do a lot of things just for ourselves. There were a few things made up front for the entire group in one big batch, like the pasta sauce. I'm pretty short so it was hard for me to see what was going on even though I was somewhat close to the front, but the rest more than made up for it. The two chefs with us were very attentive and were constantly walking around to make sure we were on the right page. I would definitely do a class like this again! Since coming back home we've already made a couple of things in the little cookbook they give you and they've both turned out great!

There were a couple of families there, but all with other children. I don't think this would be as enjoyable with young children.

Authentic recipes I'll make again and again
Jan 2020
Our chef, Niccolo, taught us several recipes that were easy and delicious. Pasta from scratch, homemade tiramisu, bolognese, and fresh tomato sauce. This class was the highlight of our two week trip to Italy and I would recommend to anyone! I will be making these dishes for my friends and family for years to come.

Wanna Be Italiano Cooking Class
Jan 2020 • Couples
We had a great time at the cooking class. The chef Niccolò was fantastic and despite not being able to do the central market tour on the day due to being a holiday in Italy, instead he made an extra dish and showed us how to make Fiordilatte (Gelato) instead. Definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Florence!

1st time to Italy
Dec 2019
We were a group of 9 and opted for the group class instead of the private. The other guests were very friendly and it was really a great time! We had 5 kids ages 12-16, it was there favorite part of the trip. Shop in the market was wonderful! Katerina was wonderful! Great sense of humor and an excellent chef, very engaging. The meals were a success and the whole family had an amazing day! I highly recommend this class.
