I was really unsure whether the class was going to be right for me as I'm a pretty confident cook and it seemed like quite a lot of money to me for a few hours. However, like many other reviewers on here, it turned out to be an absolute highlight of my trip to Sicily. Not only did I learn many things about cooking that I didn't know before, but Massimo was an extremely engaging, entertaining teacher and the food we cooked and ate was absolutely incredible (plus the wine of course)!!
My advice: don't bother searching for a top restaurant when you're in Taormina- just book into one of Massimo's classes, if you can- and don't eat any breakfast before you go!

This was an incredible cooking class and one of our favorite parts of our Sicilian trip. Let me note that one of the people in our group is an executive chef, so you always hope that the experience exceeds their expectations as well as of those of us who are simple home cooks... This cooking class was amazing and we all learned so very much. The food was absolutely delicious. We learned how to make homemade macaroni with marinara, salt crusted bronzini, caponata, a wonderful roasted vegetable dish, and meatballs in lemon leaves. The quality of the produce in Sicily is truly outstanding and Massimo shared some amazing techniques and flavors with us that made for a truly one of a kind lunch shared with lovely people.
We all met in the center of town at a well marked location, went to have coffee at a local cafe and get to know one another and then went to the market to grocery shop. The location of Chef Massimo's kitchen was so beautiful and offered panoramic views of the ocean while we shared time in the kitchen.
Definitely do this class if you get the chance. What a wonderful and talented chef he is and a quintessential Sicilian experience. Thank you Chef Massimo for a wonderful day.

This was a such fun experience! It was educational, experiential, fun, personal and very yummy!!!!
Chef Mazzimo was great. You feel comfortable knowing he knows what he is doing. Not only he is a great chef but also teacher. He took consideration for special restrictions for some guests.
The food and wine was fantastic. You will leave very full and happy!! I would highly recommend this for anyone, any age.

I had the opportunity to take an amazing Sicilian cooking class with Chef Massimo. The class was very relax and laid back. He explain things very well and give you tips not just on choosing your the freshest ingredients, but also with the correct way of preparing and cooking each dishes. The setting is also not in a restaurant but in an actual house that is why it is very comfortable and homey. I really had an amazing experience and I highly recommend taking this cooking class with Chef Massimo. Plus, he is really funny and he makes you feel at home at his kitchen.

Chef Massimo’s cooking course had been recommended to us by some friends who visited in September.
They described it as ‘the best thing they did in Sicily’. And they did a lot.
So it’s safe to say, expectations were sky high.
And we were not disappointed.
Massimo is not only extremely knowledgable, personable and welcoming - but also deeply passionate about food and cooking.
The food he guided us prepare was far better than any I had produced in the past. I learnt a ton, had a brilliant time and left feeling extremely full and ready for a lie at the beech!
You have to do his class if you are visiting the region. I promise you will not be disappointed.
All I would say is, don’t eat a big breakfast beforehand!

This afternoon was magical as it was spent in a cooking class with Chef Massimo, a very passionate and knowledgeable chef. There were 12 of us in total. We started in a local market where we received instructions on choosing fresh ingredients. We moved on to a lovely house overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where we cooked and ate an absolutely magnificent meal. Chef Massimo is masterful at given clear instructions, demonstrating and assisting so that everyone gets the chance to participate. We made several appetizers, first courses, sides and two main courses, many of them quite complex but made possible with his help. After our work we were able to sit down at his beautiful table and enjoy the fruits of our labor. This a must do activity if you are in Taormina!

Massimo was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We learned several valuable and new skills/pointers we can’t wait to try! He was very attentive to my food allergies and worked around that selecting food at the market and during our prep together. He engaged everyone in the group. It was delightful to enjoy our meal overlooking beautiful Taormina harbor and mountainside.

We booked a tour which included 4 cooking classes with Chef Massimo. Although we are avid cooks at home we learned some great techniques on cooking southern Italian cuisine! We HIGHLY recommend Chef Massimo for beginners or experienced cooks. Massimo combines a perfect blend of demonstration, teaching, and fun. Whole Bronzino, lemon meatballs, pistachio ravioli, mussels, calamari, stuffed artichokes, stuffed zucchini blossoms, salt encrusted fish and orange fennel salad to name some favorites. The location is beautiful and hopefully the weather will allow you to enjoy your preparations outside with an endless flow of red and white wine!
GREAT JOB!

My wife and I seek our food tours when we travel and lately have also done some cooking classes - paella in Barcelona, Tuscan ragu and pasta in Florence, etc…. But nothing touches this day with Chef Massimo.
Being in Sicily in late March meant we were there during low tourist season so we ended up with Chef Massimo to ourselves. I have no hesitation recommending this class, and I bet it would be even better with other couples to participate.
The day starts in the market where you and Massimo buy the ingredients for all the meals. And unlike other tours, nothing is pre-determined. Everything we made was dictated by what was fresh and available from the fish monger, butcher, and in season for vegetables. Massimo was a wealth of knowledge and his passion was infectious.
After the market we walked to his house and made an insanely good lunch. Do NOT eat a large breakfast. We made 10 different dishes. All of them authentic Sicilian preparations. Nothing was touristy, and we both participated. My wife does not cook and she did excellent with Massimo’s directions. The food was great and of course the table wine rounded out the day.
After Massimo shared all the recipes and more.
There is a reason this booking is the highest rated and almost entirely 5-stars. It is well earned. Easily one of the best days of the trip, bar none.

The market trip and cooking class with Chef Massimo was the highlight of our trip to Italy! The things he explained at the market will help us to select better ingredients from now on. The recipes and cooking techniques were interesting and fun, and I can’t wait to recreate these delicious dishes for my friends. The Chef was delightful, both in his knowledgeable instruction, and his dinner conversation. I highly recommend this class!

100%. In our class there were 2 people with gluten intolerance and one lactose... he had perfect alternatives and was very aware of possible contamination. So, you can join in. It’s great!

Hi, We are travelling with a 3 year old kid. We are vegetarians. Do you have vegetarian dishes to cook part of the class? Also, can one of us be part of the class while the other is helping look after our kid in premise? Do you allow that?

The chef will take care of every need .This class is kid friendly But If I was also a guest I would not want to be cooking with your child.
They do not care if 1 paying adult wants to take care of of a child .If this is your family only I can see the chef even including your child for a great family time
