- Sara M00Sicily Food and Wine TourHad a wonderful time exploring Sicily on this small group tour. Well organized with plenty of down time to stroll and explore the towns on your own. The guides were very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour group!
- anneh26600A must do on your tripAlfredo was excellent. A great story teller and gave us insight into Sicilian culture wine and cuisine. Showed us an area of Taormina we hadn’t discovered yet. Food and wine were plentiful and delicious. Small group was perfect
- NoorCanberra00Delightful trip, worked like clockworkGreat trip, knowledgeable and charming guides, all experiences meals and accommodation excellent and worked like clockwork . Our family group of 4 covering 3 generations had nothing to do but enjoy and plan our spare time, easy in lovely Sicily. Thanks to slender an and all the team, guides and drivers that made it all work. Noor
- Настя Ц00Unforgettable excursionMy friends and I had been planning a trip to Sicily for a very long time, and most importantly, we wanted to go on an excursion to Gambino winery and we very carefully chose the company for the organization of rest, and we were not mistaken. Our holiday was simply magnificent and unforgettable. Everything was left to chance, our guide Denise was very funny and with her our mood became better. After the degustation we had a delicious lunch with a wonderful view. Thank you again for such an unforgettable vacation❤️
- Max W00Great experienceRosario and Valerio have been beautiful interpreters of Sicilian culture. We feel included and for foreigners that is the ultimate joy.
- micheledI3688CC00Fantastic Day.What a fantastic day with Antonio. He was so knowledgeable not just about The Godfather movie locations and The Mafia but Italian and Sicilian History. Made the day fun and really interesting. Fully recommend taking this trip 10/10. Bravo Antonio.
- G3333EVmargaretf00Taormina food and wine tour. The tour was conducted by a very passionate guide who explained exactly what each wine was and where it came from. The food was specific to the region and tasty.
- Leanphil00Fabulous, funFabulous Tour. Alfredo was our guide and a wealth of information, stories and songs. 3 restaurants, multiple wines along with information about them, and delicious food.
- pjbmontana00Wonderful private Food and Wine tourWe did a 9-day private Food and Wine tour of parts of Sicily with Sicily Activies and absolutely loved the tour. From my first contact with Alex at Sicily Activies until our final departure from Palermo everything was very well planned and executed with precision. When ever I contacted Alex with questions, I always had an answer the next morning in my email! Once on the tour, Alex was always reachable by WhatsAP for the few questions that I had. This tour was a food and wine tour, and we had plenty of both!! In fact, several nights we did not even eat dinner because we were so fully from the food and wine provided during the various food and wine stops. The wineries that we went to were excellent and were great stops. Our suitcases were loaded with Sicilian wine on our way home! The food tasting highlighted Sicilian Street food and loved every tasting. All were quite different and featured foods of that region of Sicily. The three hotels that Alex arranged were all top notch and we enjoyed each of them. They were well located and were within easy walking distance of many of the major attractions we were interested in seeing. All the driver/guides were excellent and were licensed guides. We always felt safe in the van with their driving and let me assure you the drivers are crazy in Sicily! However, I would like to a special shout out to Antonio as we probably enjoyed him the most! He was lots of fun and loved to talk about Sicily. When we got ready to depart from Palermo, I thought Alex had arranged too much time at the airport but after getting there it was absolute kayos and we needed almost all the allotted time to catch our flight home. One word of caution about both airport in Catina, where we landed and the airport at Palermo where we departed is that they do not use jetways and it caused some difficulty with our carryon baggage. In summary, I would do this tour again in a heartbeat as the pace was exactly right for us and the food and wine were fantastic. I also cannot say enough great thing about how responsive Alex was to our questions!
- angelak6800Take the trip!A good day out and an enjoyable way to see more of Sicily in the hot summer sunshine without having to drive…driving in Sicily is not for the faint hearted! Small minibus expertly driven by our guide Denise who pointed out places of interest en route. Interesting tour for Godfather fans with lots of anecdotes from Denise who was always happy to answer any questions with lots of photo opportunities and plenty of time to enjoy the experience. We were never rushed. We spent time at the first 2 churches and Bar Eden in Forza D’Agro our only ‘disappointment’ as such was not being offered the same opportunity at Bar Vitelli when we visited the town of Savoca but it may be tours and guides are not invited in as such. Highly recommend you ask for time to visit Bar Vitelli yourself to take your photos, look at the exhibition inside and treat yourself to a cool drink rather than being directed to the souvenir shopping. We took the offer of the Tuk Tuk arranged by Denise to reach St Lucy’s church as it was baking hot in the sun and I have some health issues. That was great fun and costs 10 euros each way for a few mins. You do miss out of some of the walking trip info but it was our choice. The trip is rounded off with a delicious light lunch - pasta alla Norma, and coffee drinks in a lovely small restaurant with breathtaking views and incredibly welcoming staff. Highly recommend this trip.
- Dubewah00Outstanding Tour, 5 starsOverall, we are so happy to have found this tour and highly recommend it for those who are looking for a smaller group experience with a combination of great food, historical site visits, wineries and the ability to add on personalize stops. We were a group of 5 adults, 2 age 60 and 3 late 20’s. The tour guides are all quite knowledgeable and the historical details provided by them on the walking tours was informative, interesting and well presented. Coming from New Jersey, we found the cost of food, wine, bottled water, etc. to be very reasonable, in some cases half of what we pay back home. For example, dinner at a terrific restaurant with 2 bottles of wine and apps and entrees for our entire group was 33 euro per person. Remember, most people in Europe don’t tip, as it’s built in to the price. We always tipped the tour guides, bartenders and wait staff. It is very much appreciated and I can tell you that every morning for breakfast my doppio macchiato was prepared without my asking:-) Taormina First night food tour is great, be prepared, it will be a lot of eating. First day at the Greek theatre and then the godfather tour was terrific. Comfortable shoes recommended for the walking. Second day at Mt Etna is awesome, as was the winery visit and lunch after at Barone Di Villagrande. It’s about a 60 minute ride from Taormina to Etna. We’d recommend you pay the fee for the gondola ride and go up as high as tours are allowed. It was nice and cool up there, outside of summer make sure to dress appropriately. Recommended restaurants we ate at are Pirandello 2.0 & Porta Messina. Baked calamari with breadcrumbs and octopus were exceptional at Pirandello. We did a cooking class at Porta Messina which was a lot of fun, an excellent meal and way more food than we could eat. Ortegia 17 room hotel Livingston. Excellent location, waterfront views. AC and breakfast amazing. Swimming off rocks with the locals highly recommended. You can also take a tour on a boat (the love boat) which circles Ortigia from the water, with a stop for swimming in a beautiful cove. We paid for a private boat, 125 euros for the 5 of us (vs 75 for a shared boat) and spent most of the 75 minutes swimming instead of touring. Pupillo winery tour and lunch also highly recommended. 1.5 liter water is 1.7-2 euros. Pizza, street food and gelato all excellent everywhere. Local beer Messina saldi is quite good. Local IPA available and pretty tasty. We all really enjoyed Ortigia a lot. We did an add on winery one free afternoon in Siracusa, Pupillo Winery. We would highly recommend it. Wine and food were terrific, and we had our own private tour with the owner, Sebastiano. “Light lunch” here was 4 courses with wine pairing that were all delicious. Took home wine and olive oil. We’re typically red wine drinkers but fell in love with the Sicilian whites that dominated out trip. Restaurants we ate at were Don Camillo (Michelin star) and La Schiccheria, excellent pizza spot recommended by our tour guides. Lunch in Marzamemi at Al Baccone, on travel day from Taormina to Ortigia was fantastic. Appetizer tasting plate and stuffed squid highly recommended. Travel from Ortigia to Palermo is about 4-4.5 hours. You stop halfway to visit the ruins in Agrigento, which are awesome. After this 90 minute personal tour with a local guide, we had lunch at Pititto Ristorante. Another outstanding lunch, best caponata of the trip, macaroni with wild boar Ragu nightly recommended. Palermo Palermo is different than the other stops, it is a big city unlike Taormina and Ortigia. Lot’s of history and you really only spend one full day here if you aren’t extending the trip. Tour was good, and you will have the afternoon to explore the market on your own. We had the best Cannoli of our lives here, in the old monastery courtyard. It’s called II secretive del Chiostro, ask your tour guide for the exact location when doing the Palermo tour. Great granita here as well. We had dinners close to the hotel at Trattoria Carpaccio and La Pesceria, both highly recommended. At Carpaccio the Octopus carpaccio, Sicilian lasagne and swordfish rolls all recommended. At Pesceria, we had a 3 pound sea bass, baked in salt, highly recommended. Don’t be turned off, it’s not salty and amazing. We tacked on an extra day to visit Castellammare del Golfo, the village where my wife’s mom & grandparents are from. About 40 minutes from our hotel in Palermo, absolutely stunning and not very commercial. Lunch at Salvinius Ristorante, picked out by Massimo’s wife, was maybe the best lunch of the week, and thats saying a lot. Best piece of tuna I ever had in my life! Order a pizza as an app, you won’t be disappointed. All 3 hotels were good with a very fine breakfast. First hotel, Aniston, had beautiful water view, a pool and a bar, and was a short 10 min walk to downtown Taormina. Second hotel in Ortigia, Hotel Livingston, was a boutique 17 room hotel with amazing staff and terrific breakfast and location. No pool or bar, but plenty of cool spots for drinks close by. Also had a water view and you can see from your window the area where locals swim, which we took advantage of as it was hot while we were in Siracusa. Bring water shoes if you plan to do. The third hotel in Palermo was the Politeama and was very nice, great location with amazing rooftop bar that had stunning views. Kudos to Massimo for these selections. All rooms had bidet in the bathroom as expected, but no iron. Bring a travel steamer if you are someone who needs to iron out wrinkles. Remember to also bring adapters if you’re from the states, and a refillable water bottle to keep your water cold. All of the lunches were truly memorable. Eggplant Caponata everywhere is delicious. At Pittino in Agrigento it was the consensus favorite. But again, every lunch was fantastic and you will find something of your choosing to eat. We took a family style approach so we could try a greater variety of dishes. Make sure to try the caponata, the breaded swordfish rolls, granita, gelato, pasta Norma, rice balls, etc. This is an amazing trip, and tour guides were all terrific, with just one that was average. We were a group of seven in total, 5 in our group and 2 single women. We were all average in size. In our opinion the tour max should be 6 adults, especially if larger than average size people are in the group. With small kids in the mix perhaps 7 could work. We had a few really hot days and the AC worked really well in all the vans except 1.
- Royalcot00Excellent in every wayWe have not enough words to thank Alex and the Sicily Activities team for this excellent small group of Sicily. Alex answered promptly all my emails and whatsApp messages when enquiring about the tour and hotels. Graziana was great with every day logistic information. We could not have asked for a better group. The itinerary was well organized to have a first impression of Sicily, and we had such a great experience that we will definitely love going back. The meals that were included were above expectations, away from massive restaurants. We enjoyed every moment.
- andrewsF5187RZ00Taormina Cooking Class for large groupsGreat group activity, we were quite a big group of 16 Guys on a Bachelor Party. The staff were very friendly and patient with us, we were there for a good laugh and they were very accommodating with us. We did'nt manage to finish all the food that we made, highly recommended!
- Navigate67350900Food and wine walking tourVery good experience, guide was very knowledgable, many different foods to try, all were excellent and very tasty. We tried 8 different wines and were given lots of information about all of them, had a wonderful walk around Taormina . Overall excellent experience.
- R8596OJdavew00Tremendous MemoriesMy family - 12 of us, with wife's family - had a tremendous experience and something we will always look back upon with great memories. Overall, we were very happy with the entire trip and found Sicily to be a wonderful experience. In fact we now plan to visit again, and see the rest of it. While there were a few hicups and communication issues it all comes with the territory. Mount Etna and the winery/luncheon exceeded our expectations and so glad we visited it. The hotel in Taormina was perfect in terms of location and the views. All the local guides were very good w/ the best probably being the one at Mount Etna, in terms of really spending the time to educate us about the volcano. The concept of the 2-3 hour walking tours at each location really helped and was appreciated. The small elements of a drink at the end of Palermo tour or chocolates in Ortigia are a nice touch. Sicily Activities with Alex and Massimo were able to accommodate and tailor the trip to locations we wanted to visit.

This was a fantastic tour and experience with excellent value for money. Pick up was on time and there were only four people on the tour including us. Our excellent tour guide and driver Salvo gave a great overview of the history of Sicily and the wineries we were visiting. We arrived at the Gambino Winery up towards Mount Etna and it was such an amazing place. They taught us all about Sicilian wines and let us try 6 glasses of wine as well as fill up our glass for when we toured the cellar. The wines were also reasonably priced as well and worth looking at as they do worldwide shipping. We moved onto lunch at a farmhouse winery and the food was delicious. Definitely worth doing!

We booked a tour for 4 people via the website. It was easy to book and Massimo emailed us straight away to confirm.
In the day we were picked up at 10am by Antonio who was our guide for the day. He was very knowledgeable and told us on the drive to the winery about the landscape etc.
We drove for about 45 minutes and learnt so much about the local area.
Upon arrival at the Gambino Vineyard we were welcomed with cold glasses of white wine and a talk by Nino. He was really nice and very funny too. We had a short tour of the cellar and learnt about the wine making process, grapes etc.
We had a lunch prepared with local fresh foods and wine tasking. The wine was amazing…so much we ordered lots to be sent to the UK!
After photos etc we drive to a local farmhouse restaurant where we had a lunch again with local foods and more wine! Food was delicious and definitely some of the best local produce we have tasted.
After this we returned to our hotel.
Overall this was a fantastic day and we have made some great memories.
Thank you Massimo and team.

Our driver Salvo was fantastic. He told us of Sicilian history on the way to Gambino winery and he was also really funny which made it a memorable day. The wines at Gambino were wonderful and reasonably priced. They offer free EU shipping (if you spend over €60). You get a selection of amazing cheeses with your wine tasting and Giuseppe was a great informative about the wine. After Gambino, we got taken to a small farmhouse for delicious Sicilian food.
Due to covid we had to wear masks in the car and were well spaced out at the meals so felt safe. They also take your details down for track and trace. All in all great trip!
Grazie Salvo and Giuseppe! Ciao!

This was a great experience. The guide Antonio was great. He was very knowledgeable and taught us about wine, food, Etna, as well as Italian/Sicilian culture and history. His passion for these subjects was truly unmatched, and he answered all of our questions with ease.
The first stop was at the Gambino winery, which is a medium-sized and well-driven operation with splendid views from 900 meters above sea level. It's located at the foot of mount Etna. They served us some great cheese paired with a selection of five wines, before giving us a tour of the cellar.
The last stop was at a local countryside "tavern" close to the city of Randazzo. This was the most authentic food experience we had in Sicily, and was a welcome relief after the tourist trap that is Taormina. We were served a selection of incredible small Sicilian dishes to start, and some great wild boar pasta as a main dish, served with wine from their own vineyard. Since it was Sunday, several local Italian families were dining there as well. This made for a great atmosphere and made it feel like we had been let in on a secret.
All in all, a great tour with great value for money!

Valerio was a great driver...very knowledgeable about the area and was able to make a quick change of plans when our first scheduled stop needed to change. He handled it all with care and concern! I would go again with him on another tour any time!! So much fun! The wine was so good, I ordered a case to have shipped home!!! Cottanera winery was the best ever! They were so accommodating and full of hospitality.

We really enjoyed the tour. Tasted some excellent wines and learned a great deal about Etna wines and Sicilian culture along the way. Our tour guide, Antonio, was very informative and a great host throughout the tour. It’s good value for money and you will definitely have enough wine and local delicacies that will leave you more than satisfied at the end of the tour. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a food and wine tour in the Etna region.

This was a wonderful experience from Taormina. Maximo was very responsive via the app to help with coordinating the experience. Orazio was our tour guide, I don’t think we could have had a better guide. He was punctual, friendly, informative…I could go on and on. The pick up was very seem less and the van was big enough for 8 people. The drive to the winery wasn’t very long. When we got there we were greeted with a glass of wine and allowed to enjoy the sweeping views of the coast. From there we went inside and had a tasting of 4 wines and had our own plate of cheeses, olives, eggplant and sun dried tomatoes. Along with bread and hard boiled eggs. Which was all very tasty. From there we drove to a second location where we had a nice lunch of various antipasti and breads. A delicious plate of pasta. Also house wine (red and wine) were provided. Afterwards we had and apertivo and an espresso. Also, It was a wonderful group we we with and I really enjoyed their company and humor. One of the

We visited in October on the last day of our honeymoon in Taormina and it was fantastic! Our driver, Salvo, was so knowledgeable and friendly and made the drive really fun. The winery itself is gorgeous - great selection of wine and food to try and everyone there was really welcoming. The lunch at the remote farmhouse was a real highlight of our trip. Cannot recommend enough - a definite must if you are staying in the area. Thanks so much Salvo!

Absolutely amazing trip, would highly recommend.
Wine tasting with food pairing was fantastic as was the lunch later, again with lots of Sicilian wine! Our guide Carlos was great and pick up and drop off from our hotel was perfect. It’s relatively expensive but transport ( taxis) in the area are very expensive - add to that the amount of food and wine that’s included and it makes it really great value. Well done Sicily Activities!

Is it family friendly? Could we bring an infant child?

We traveled in a van and the seating at the winery and the restaurant would accommodate a child. Sicilians generally are very family friendly. I would suggest contacting the tour company directly to confirm. I tried to give you the e-mail address but tripadvisor would not allow it. The name is Sicily Activities and you can easily find it. You will also save money by booking directly and paying cash.

Hi,
We are looking at booking a tour on the day that we fly out!
The private tour with the minivan, will there be enough space in the car for our carry on luggage? It won’t be too much.
Secondly is it possible to be dropped at the airport after the tour? Is there an additional cost?
Would Pickup from IL Picciolo Etna Golf Resort and Spa be included?
