- Lance A0 contributionsAmazing tour of Sicily! We took this tour yesterday, and it was awesome!! We loved Sicily. Sam, our tour guide was so sharp and interesting. We all loved him! He is young but very knowledgeable. The town of Taormina was so cool, with great shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this tour if you spend a day in Sicily.Written August 26, 2024
- anchorgal020 contributionsWonderful private tour of lovely Sicilian towns! We enjoyed our private tour of Taormina, Castelmola and Messina—this was one of our favorite stops on our cruise. The tour provided enough variety to keep our kids (11/13) engaged and felt as though we had ample time to explore. We arrived by cruise ship and easily found our tour guide, Sam, across the street from the cruise port. We took a short walk to find our driver, Dino and had a nice, clean van. It was nice to have both a tour guide and driver for the day—Sam did a great job of explaining the sites/history and Dino was able to make some stops so we could get some great photos. We started in Castelmola, which is a lovely little town with some great views. We were able to explore the shops for about 30 minutes and get a snack there. We had gelato from a great little bakery by the church and enjoyed wandering the streets. Sam and Dino dropped us of in Tamorina—which is bigger and more crowded—this is not a guided tour, but we had several hours to explore the town, shops and grab lunch. (If you’re a White Lotus fan, make sure to look for some sites from season 2). Two of us went to the Greek theater—this was 12E/adult, free for kids. If you’re interested in history it was neat to see, but we did a quick 15 min walk through—not sure if you need to spend too much time there. (They were insistent on seeing an ID at the ticket office—so make sure you have a passport or license). Finally, we ended in Messina and had some time for a quick tour of the Astronomical clock, cathedral and town square. We brought some cash for tips but were able to use Apple Pay/credit card pretty much everywhere.Written July 2, 2024
- firoozehr20240 contributionsFantasticThe tour was on time. They were in contact ahead of time to letvyou know where to meet. The tour guide was knowledgeable and professional. We had plenty of time to explore on your own.Written April 30, 2024
- Stewart M0 contributionsWell worth itSome of these tours amount to a driver and nothing much else. Michael was a tour guide who told us about things that were on the route, advised us how long we might need to see Taormina, showed us where to go to enjoy the local delicacy (Canoli), and, most importantly, got us back to the ship in good time. He told us all about his family, his wife and children, how the lockdown affected their business, and what happens during their peak season. Recommended!Written April 30, 2024
- S5607SUericr0 contributionsWell informed GuideEven though our ship was late, our guide/driver was waiting for us. he stopped at a small wine shop, which was excellent. He did a nice job of explaining the area. Overall excellent.Written November 9, 2023
- Passenger182339750930 contributionsMessina to TaorminaSalvatore was a great guide, he knows his way around. We had a marvellous time and we recommend it. The trip from Messina to Taormina was a smooth ride.Written October 4, 2023
- EdRock20170 contributionsBest of TaorminaMy wife and I booked the Best of Taormina excursion. Miriam was our tour guide, and was an absolute delight! She was very knowledgeable about the history of Sicily giving us an overview as we made our way from Messina to Taormina. Miriam was also very professional and personable and the time seemed to fly by as we learned so much about the area. She explained what to expect when we got to Taormina, which was early morning (9am-ish), and we were free to tour the city on our own. I was glad we got there early because by late morning there was one guided tour after another, and the main promenade was getting crowded. The thing that impressed me the most though was the passion that Miriam had for telling us about Sicily, and it was sad when the tour ended.Written September 16, 2023
- Debbie A0 contributionsFabulous!!Miriam was fabulous! So knowledgeable and really made our tour exceptional! The driver was also excellent. Highly recommend this tour.Written August 26, 2023
- jessicaaV4543TX0 contributionsTwo beautiful cities!Absolutely beautiful! Prompt pickup and return to cruise port. Guide share some basic information and we had time to explore on our own.Written August 11, 2023
- Terri H0 contributionsGreat viewsGreat tour guide. Beautiful views. A long bus ride with winding roads but the driver was a pro. They waited too long for passengers so we rushed and didn't get to eat. Definitely worth the price!!Written July 30, 2023
- Aslanschild20 contributionsA Very Good Tour for Limited Time in MessinaThis tour was very nice. We were picked up promptly at our cruise dock, driven up to Taormina, then left on our own to see the lovely town of Taormina, which we did not mind as we are pretty independent travelers and enjoy doing things at our own speed. The driver gave us a time to meet up, and came back for us. He was kind, friendly, drove safely, and told us a lot about the area as he drove. Messina, the port city, was just okay, but we loved old Taormina. Don't miss the ancient Greek Theater there, even though you may have to stand in line (goes fast) and there's an extra admission fee. They were setting up for a concert in the theater that day, so our photos weren't perfect, but the views out over the sea from there are truly spectacular. The theater itself is beautiful and worth seeing, especially in this setting.Written June 22, 2023

Recently we had the pleasure of touring with Michele (Michael) during a port stop in Messina. Prior to our visit, I had emailed Michele on numerous occasions, attempting to coordinate for our group of 8 the best possible use of our brief time in Messina. Michele was always prompt in responding and endlessly patient with my questions.
He was waiting for us when our ship docked, and throughout our day he offered us a lot of interesting information about the region which clearly he knows well and loves. Michele wisely timed our stops in Mt. Etna, Taormina and Castelmola perfectly to avoid the cruise ship tours. We even had time at the end of our day for a surprise spin around Messina that included the best cannoli ever. Michele's English is excellent; he is a delightful and knowledgeable young man who tries hard to give everyone a day to remember. He has my highest recommendation.

Michele was a wonderful host for the day. His love of Sicily shined through in the way he showed us his country. First stop on the way to Etna was wonderful and we tasted grapes fresh off the vine, wines, honeys, olive oils and dips etc. The staff their were very friendly and accommodating without trying to sell you stuff.
We then drove to Mount Etna. It was a very windy day but we enjoyed seeing it and Michele drove us to a few lookouts which was great.
We then drove to Taormina which Michele dropped us off so we could walk around the town which is beautiful and we enjoyed the local cuisine.
Once we arrived back in Messina we did a short drive around and then he took us to try an authentic cannoli which was sensational.
The van was very conformable and having wifi in it was great as I could send photos back home straight away.
I highly recommend this tour for cruise ship passengers and you could not get a better day and value for money. Michele it is a credit to you how you run your tours.

We had the pleasure of having Michele as our tour guide. We were a group of 8 and were picked up promptly. It was completely personalized. We spent as much time as we wanted in each location. We made a stop at a place that grows grapes used for wine and made their own honey. It was our lucky day because the owner of the place was there and he gave us grapes right off the vine to try. It was DELICIOUS!! We were informed that our group were the lucky ones because that usually doesn't happen. They had some wine tastings, olives, olive oils, pistachio spreads, all out to try. They made great gifts for loved ones back home. Michele was wonderful. Full of fun facts and information but not overwhelmingly so. Mt Etna was a sight to see. We did not opt to ride the cable cars to the top because we felt we had a great view from the crater we were taken to. Then on to Taormina where we had lunch and did some shopping. It is a cute little village. It definitely has a charm to it. At the end of the tour he offered to take us to a place that makes authentic Sicilian cannoli's freshly made. My goodness.... it was phenomenal. Dropped us off right at our ship with plenty of time to spare. It was by far one of the best tours of our trip. I would highly recommend.
