About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- CalvinN200 contributionsEtna Morning ExperienceIt was a well organised trip. Although there were 2 cars due to the number of participants, a radio was used so allow both cars to hear the guide. The guide frequently waited for the group to come together before continuing his explanations. All in all, I would strongly consider another trip from them if we are back in Sicily.Written March 8, 2025
- 103ryanb0 contributionsEasy tour of EtnaFun way to see Etna without a big commitment of time and money. Emiliano was a super knowledgeable guide. We had a nice morning.Written March 2, 2025
- michael101210 contributionsPassionate tour guideMainly wanted to give a five-star review for our tour guide Giovanni, who’s very passionate, knowledgeable and friendly — Learnt a lot about Mt Etna and Sicily from him! The tour itself was decent. It was a rainy day so we didn’t get any stunning views at the craters, but overall satisfied with the tour.Written November 14, 2024
- V6201RGpeterl0 contributionsThe best tour experienceWhile it is easy just to say the hike was spectacular it was thanks to our guide Giovanni that made it a perfect day. In addition the staff at Etna Experience, especially Laura, provided an excellent pre tour experience by responding to questions quickly and ensuring we had all the relevant information about the tour. As someone who worked in protected areas management and dealt with visitor needs at our organization's sites I can say without hesitation that the team at Etna Experience are exceptional professionals who I would have no problem recommending to friends and family. I definitely would go on a tour with them again.Written November 11, 2024
- pmpowden0 contributionsGreat tour, no volcano. It was very nice but did NOT include exploring the volcano at all. The three wineries were good, two at the vineyard, one not. Giovani was very informative with great history of Catania. Very nice and good English. I recommend but not if you want to go to the volcano.Written November 3, 2024
- Amelia J L0 contributionsReliable tour company with awesome guideI enjoyed the tour very much. Marco was an exceptional guide. He's very knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic. He made the whole trip very insightful and interesting. One point to note is that I had a discussion of the various tour companies with my hostel dorm mates and a number of them had negative experience (last minute cancellation etc) with other companies. Etna Experience seems to be one of the more reliable ones. I deducted a point because I initially wanted to do the easy summit tour but was told there wasn't enough participants and I was asked to sign up for this Etna wine Alcantara tour instead while waiting to see if the summit tour becomes available. There was no update on that. Although this Etna wine Alcantara tour is perfectly fine and highly recommended if you want an easier day with more variety, what I really wanted is more hiking and less excursion. Perhaps the company can do more to allow people to choose the summit tour instead (wouldn't have minded paying a bit more for it).Written October 29, 2024
- X3544QQmichelleh0 contributionsYou don’t visit Edna!! Only wine tourThis trip is NOT a trip to Etna. This was ONLY a wine tour near Etna. We did not do any tracking, visit caves or anything although it said so in the description. We were very disappointed. As we went home the next day we did not get to visit Edna. But a fine wine tour 🙃Written October 27, 2024
- majobor0 contributionsEtna + lunch + Taormina. Average tour that tries to fit too much and delivers none. All in if you just want to fit a lot in one day, this is your tour. If you want to experience any of the items properly , Etna, Etna wines or Taormina, break the trip up. Transport: We got picked up from Catania in a van that clearly needs new suspension and missing inside panels. Made for an interesting drive. Etna: You go to a shallow cave and then you climb to 1700 metres approx on a couple of ash dunes/hills. . That’s a 2k round trip done at a very slow pace. You’ll see the best of Etna from afar and there is no chance to go any higher. Lunch: 30 sec explanation of a couple of glasses of wine, no explanation of the food which had only one warm piece of lasagna, rest was cold. No explanation how to pair it with the wine either. Taormina: With 2 hours you’ll be pushed to experience it properly. Felt a bit short changed. The guide Mirko was the best part of the trip, very happy, knowledgeable and chatty.Written September 22, 2024
- Karenkpk990 contributionsAmazing hikeIf you found this trek - just do it!!! It took me several attempts and searches to find this trek but so glad that I did. Giovanni was an amazing tour guide. His background is in biology specifically botany. He is so knowledgeable and gave us the appropriate amount of information. We all had different hiking abilities and yet we all felt well taken care of. The views we were fortunate enough to see were breathtaking and definitely pictures will never do it justice.Written September 15, 2024
- 265anjal0 contributionsYou really get your moneys worth! This experience really gave me my moneys worth! Sweet and experienced guides with a lot of knowledge on the area. They were helpful and gave good recommendations and advice. Picked me up and delivered me right next to my air BnB. The route is visited by millions a year, and it shows, it’s really on the beaten track. If you want to see the basics, have a safe tour and get a wonderful lunch and wine on the way, this is for you! Also got to know new people, which was a plus for me as solo traveller. Highly recommended!Written September 14, 2024
- Lucas F0 contributionsMont Etna crater + Wine + TaorminaMont Etna craters + Wine + Taormina Me and my wife loved the whole experience. Marco was the guide, born and raised in Catania. He explained about how life in Sicily and Mont Etna are related since the past, and how many benefits the Vulcan brings to this region. If you like geology/biology, definitely it is must to go. Beside Mont Etna, we visited the caves near by and finished the first part with wine tasting and some typical dishes for lunch. In the afternoon we went to the cost city call s Taormina for visiting the Greek Theater, but the city by itself worths the visit, quite cozy. I strong recommend to bring a big bottle of water, the sun and hot weather can be hard.Written August 30, 2024
- Adventure554655593990 contributionsA must experience! This tour was beyond our expectations. The vineyards were incredible, especially the first one Emilio’s. We learned a lot with the presenters. The tour guide, Andrea, was extremely knowledgeable, he answered all our questions in deepth. His English fluency and vocabulary were great. The pick-up was perfectly on time, he was very polite and courteous. At the end of our tour, after we were dropped off at the our Hotel, my son noticed he did not have his wallet. We sent a message to the office through whatsapp and immediately they checked the van and Andrea, kindly drove back to our hotel with the wallet. What relief! Thanks for all the care and attention.Written August 28, 2024
- MeriDaV0 contributionsA perfect day around EtnaThe tour was perfectly organized! All stops made sense and completed each other in a meaningful narrative of Etna. Salvatore was the perfect guide; caring, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He made all the difference. Definitely recommended! 👏👏👏Written August 22, 2024
- jakubkY5786NK0 contributionsLying straight to our facesSo this was not a good experience we didn't even end up booking with them tried booking a MT. ETNA SUMMIT STRONG TOUR, this was not possible, why? Well it wasn't possible because apparently you haven't been able to visit the summit of mount etna since February 2021st for safety reasons (at least that's what they told us in an email), this a very blatant lie and can easily be disproven by going on YouTube and watching one of the videos made in the time since then that do in fact go to the summit. Mind you i know you need a certified guide to reach the summit but this was never mentioned in the email. Here is the part of the email i am talking about: "Unfortunately, since February 2021it is not possible to reach the summit of Etna anymore because of safety reasons. Now, the maximum height reachable is 2950 meters." I also don't see why they have the option on their website to select this tour if it has been unavailable for 3 years. In the end i cannot recommend a company that will lie straight to the customers faces with such an obvious lie, one star.Written July 24, 2024
- mariacV6411HR0 contributionsHighly recommended tourWe had the most amazing day with Andrea! Etna was spectacular and worth the pain I will felt in my legs the next day. Im not an experienced hiker and our guide was very patient with my slow ascent. The provision of hiking poles was a great help. Andrea has so much knowledge and he took the whole thing to another level with his insights. I am a plant lover and he was able to answer so many questions for me. The cave was scary but exciting. The gorge was amazing and the water invigorating to paddle in. Lunch at the Emilio Sciacca Etna winery was wonderful 😋 and the view from there was beautiful.Written July 18, 2024

Etna Experiences was a terrific resource (we did a sailing trip with them as well). Our day went well above our expectations - literally! Our guide, Angelo, was punctual and patient at our pickup spot 2 blocks from our lodgings. We stopped to pick up hiking boots and poles, after he checked our shoes for adequate treads. Well-informed, he was able to share so much about the area, the volcano, the eruptions… The trip to our high destination involved a van, cable car, large ATV , and a hike. Easy it was not but within our capabilities (our group of 4 ranged from 32 to 73 yrs old) and definitely well worth it . Back to the base of the cable car, we hiked through a lava field up to the edge of a lateral crater, and learned about botany as well as seismic history. Finally, we had (provided by EE) delicious pasta and lovely wine, followed by great cannoli, at the Refugio Sapienza. It was a terrific day for all of us.

One of the best guided tours I have done. Our tour guide was a really passionate volcanologist who gave us a lot of information about the volcano and the surrounding environment. The views were absolutely spectacular and we had a nice picnic with traditional Italian sandwiches at the end. Would highly recommend this if you want to visit Etna and learn more about it. The trek itself is not that difficult so anyone can access it.

Many thanks to pour guide Janet for this wonderful day! She's very knowledgeable and wants to share her passion, and above all she's very sympathetic and funny !
The organization was also perfect and the tour is easy indeed. We would strongly recommend this tour to anyone willing to discover Etna in a single day, since we discover its top, its flanks and its caves.
Thanks again Janet !

This trip was through Etna People from Taormina. It was our second trip with them and was as amazing as the first.
Daniele was our guide this time. It was a small minibus trip with 8 people.
We really appreciated Daniele's talk on the way to Etna. He told us about the history of Etna and it's various eruptions and the impact on the people living there (he grew up in an Etna village).
The trip was very comprehensive. We first visited a lava tube so that Daniele could explain about types of Volcanoes, how the lava moved and the structures left behind. We then got into a monster truck for a drive all the way up to the observatory at the top (2950m). We saw craters from several old and more recent eruptions and could clearly see the steaming main crater at the top. Lots of great photo opportunities! As we progressed Daniele pointed out the different ages of lava flows and also described the hour by hour impact of the 2002 eruption and how it wiped out hotels and restaurants near the top.
We had a delicious lunch at a local winery (vegans well catered for). We tried 2 wines plus almond wine with desert.
We finished with a river walk at Alcantara gorge with its basalt columns (and 'refreshing' water).
Another great day. Big thanks to Daniele and Etna People for making it special.

Incredible experience, the Etna is an amazing place to visit. As said, it's an easy tour, we may I prefer more trekking time (the total walking time is about two hours, in two times). But the views were incredible from there, both of the Etna and the Sicily panorama. Our guide, Andrea, a young biologist, was very friendly and could answer all our questions about the Etna. Thanks again !

We had a great day of hiking and learning with Marco on the Easy Top Etna tour. He was prompt, fluent in English, friendly, very knowledgeable about the volcano, botony, & history of the region. I felt that he had a good sense of the individuals in our group and made sure everyone was sarisfied. The lunch provided was delicious! Everything was coordinated smoothly and we got to experience the beauty and majesty of Mamma Etna with a local. Highly recommend!

We went with a whole family with small children (one with broken leg). That was one of the most amazing experiences in our lives. Our guide, Janet, geologist, was a great company. She explained us all the details about volcano, its history and processes happening inside and she answered a million of children's questions with a big smile on her face. We really admired her deep knowledge and positive attitude. She adjusted a pace to our capabilities and she knew all those little special places around Etna and took us there. The trip was prepared perfectly, we booked and paid remotely without a need to go to the office. The communication was immediate and preparation of a tour was also great. We were equipped in any missing stuff, like shoes or jackets. But the best was Etna, of course. That day we were super lucky because we were able to see live eruption and lava thrown out from the crater.

We had a wonderful day with Janet from Etna Top Easy. We were with a couple and their 2 children. We get the proof the trekking is achievable by everyone no matter your age. Janet was amazing, thanks to her we’ve discovered, learned and saw so much things about volcanos and she brought sicilian food to us for the lunch. We’re happy to taste them for the first time. Thanks again for this unforgettable day Janet !
