About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Renee S0 contributionsCarmelo the fantastic guideCarmelo was our fantastic tour guide. Carmel went above and beyond to give our family a memorial, bespoke day of adventures. It's clearly evident that our tour guide loves people, provides detailed information about the towns and monuments and finds joy bringing happiness to customers.Written January 18, 2025

- marianpX3937UM0 contributionsBeautiful sitesWonderful trip with good company and good site seeing. Went to see Syracuse which is very historical and artistic. Went to Ortigia and had a wonderful panini and good shopping. Went to Noto which also is historical and picturesqueWritten September 25, 2024
- Anthony R0 contributionsHistory on a budget with GelatoNice pace. You see a lot for the money but most of all are spared driving in the combative streets of Sicily! My driver Carmello was great. Don't expect to get a tour guide experience - you can pay an on-site guide. Admission to historical sites is also extra - and worth it. Lastly, it's hot and you will be walking a lot. Wear comfy shoes, stay hydrated and manage your energy. Older or infirmed guests may struggle in some areas so know your limits.Written September 24, 2024

- retiredfeline0 contributionsthe best choice for a Montalbano day tourAs a Montalbano fan this was absolutely everything I hoped for and more. Our drivers took us to Punta Secca (Montalbano's house, lighthouse), Scili (commissariato, questura), Modica (chocolate, San Giorgio, the church), Ragusa Ibla (various scenes). We spotted some of the aerial views in the opening credits, plus some locations I didn't know about. It's amazing how the RAI filmmakers could make a small area look spacious. I'll have to view all the films again. Thank you for a wonderful day and memories. Go with these Sicily Grand Tour professionals, don't risk it with a amateur tour company.Written April 21, 2024

Alessio was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable about the whole tour. Giving us so many little details on the history and why certain buildings was so special! At the end of the tour, he gave us an amazing recommendation for dinner in downtown Catania! Highly recommend this tour and ask for Alessio to be your guide!Written January 23, 2024

- S3782AZannek0 contributionsAgrigento Temples, beautiful countryside scenes and the Roman Villa at Piazza ArmerinaWe were lucky enough to source Alessio for our private tour for two couples. His reputation as excellent and experience tour-guide is well-earned - he is thoroughly personable & charming, locally born & raised and highly educated in history, architecture, European languages & philology. The drive was smooth and skilled in busy traffic initially and on return in rush hour - to drive so well but to simultaneously be confidently imparting a wide range of insights into the varying landscapes before us and life for Sicilians as it’s led now, and in years gone by. Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples was everything it’s vaunted to be - and Alessio answered questions pertinently and carefully. His own questioning of the various history-book theories of the provenance and dedications of each temple made Alessio’s tour extra fascinating! Off then to “the middle of nowhere” to discover the extraordinary extensive Roman Villa at Piazza Armerina…. and a brilliant array of mosaicked floors in every portion of this stunning find. Again, Alessio’s guidance was a huge help to making sense of the scenes depicted. Our only regret is that at no point did we see any display boards or video to attempt indicate the original bright colouration of the mosaics - something the site management could easily set up for visitors. A massive thank you to our guide and tour company owner.Written March 15, 2023
- CathyfromScotland0 contributionsTop marksAllessio is very, very knowledgeable. The whole trip from feeling very safe in his car (I don’t usually enjoy being driven) to enjoying hearing all about the temples was brilliant. He is very easy to chat to and happy to share his theories and all about life as a proud Sicilian. Thoroughly recommended.Written March 14, 2023
- AliciaWhitney0 contributionsMontalbano tour in baroque towns and countryside of SE SicilyWe 4 Canadian couples spent a wonderful time with Alessio visiting many of the Baroque towns of southeast Sicily and places where Montalbano was filmed. We spent time in Ragusa Lbla, Modica, Punta Secca, Scicli and many other beautiful spots. Not only did we see Montalbano’s house, office, mafia leader’s palace, his favourite, restaurant, etc. we learned much and experienced the beautiful southeast towns. We even stopped in Modica for a chocolate tasting. Alessio was a great raconteur and so very knowledgeable. He easily answered all our curious questions about Sicily, even the offbeat ones. He picked us up at 9 am sharp, and we didn’t return until after dark. I would highly recommend this patient, positive and enthusiastic guide. We will always have great memories of that special day.Written October 23, 2022

We had a fantastic time with Alessio on this tour. Alessio clearly loves the films and the tour and his knowledge really brought the tour to life. Great sense of humour made the day fun too. The locations are fab, the highlight for me was the castello degli schiavi, where Apollonia dies in Godfather 2. There is an extra €25 euro per person payable to the Baron who has owned and lived in the castello since before the film was made; but you get to see inside the castello and have your picture taken on the famous balcony. A wonderful day, I would recommend this tour to anyone; even those who haven’t seen the movie, like my partner, will enjoy the scenery and the views in some fab locations!

Wow! For cinema or Italy/Sicily fans, this tour courtesy of Sicily Grand Tours is THE way to see the most iconic locations featured throughout "The Godfather" Trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola.
Whether leaving from Catania or Taormina, SGT drivers/guides Carmelo and Alessio will get you safely from your accommodation to each of the 3 iconic stops in walking in the steps of the Corleone dynasty in no time (cars well-AC'd and roomy for groups big or small).
The first stop (with a 25 Euro fee - and well worth it) takes you to Castello degli Schiavi a.k.a. Don Tommasino's villa. The 2nd stop takes you to Savoca, with its church and Bar Vitelli. The final stop (Forza d'Agro) features other iconic shots which I won't spoil.
With plenty of stops for behind-the-scenes stories, food/drink, photo ops, and likeminded company, do not sleep with the fishes (beware the oranges) and do not refuse this tour! A+++++++

This tour was absolutely outstanding, I can't imagine anything they could do to improve it. For both my friend and I, we agree that this was the best thing we did in Sicily. Eventhough it looks like just a "movie tour", we visited 3 towns and had a private guide (just lucky that no one else signed up when we were there) and saw spectacular scenery. Our guide, Gianmarco, was completely wonderful! He was knowledgeable, personable, patient and made the day great fun. We did the "add on" to go inside the Castello degli Schiavi - where Appollonia dies in a car explosion and later Michael dies - and met with the Baron who owns the castle and still lives there. It was an additional 25 Euros each and worth every single penny. The visit was so fun, so authentic and the Baron so so charming and kind. He was genuinely happy that we visited and went out of his way to show us around his beautiful property and home. The 3 towns we visited were all different and gave us a great view of the area. I can't say enough goood things about this tour, Sicily Grand Tour (the tour operator) and especially our wonderful guide, Gianmarco. If you do this, I would also recommend visiting inside the Castello degli Schiavi.

Would absolutely 100% recommend this tour to anyone whether you are a fan of the movies or not!! Alessio was a fantastic guide who shared his vast knowledge not just of the movies but the local history of places we visited and he guided us around some of the most beautiful places!
The mansion is an absolute MUST on the tour…. You have to pay a little extra but it is well worth it in my view as it’s truly a remarkable place.
Bar Vitelli was great, gorgeous coffee delicious cannoli’s and the salads looked incredible too (I didn’t have one of the salads myself but after seeing someone else’s I wish I had) and although the prices are a little higher than average, they aren’t unreasonable in my opinion.
All in all a great way to spend a day taking in some breathtaking sights, eating good food and learning something along the way!

Our group of four decided to pay for a private tour for a special occasion. It was not overly expensive and worth every cent as the guide Allessio is well connected locally and an expert in every aspect of all three Godfather movies. You want technical analysis, character descriptions, casting or plot critiques? He knows it all and can pitch delivery to match visitor interest. Sometimes you meet a tour guide who is perfect for the job. It’s rare but this one hit the spot for all of us.

This was such a great experience, visiting the iconic movie locations of Sicily for The God Father movie trilogy. As an avid fan of these movies, it was quite a surreal feeling being able to visit these locations and recall the exact scenes of the movies taken there. My partner who hasn’t seen any of the movies, thoroughly enjoyed the tour also. Our tour operator is passionate about the movie series and offered valuable insights into the chosen locations and the planning that took place to make the movies. The tour takes you to many locations over a 7-8 hour period. The highlight of the day was visiting the castle that was actually used in the movies, and meeting the Barron. This is followed by a short video presentation and a tour of the inside/outside of the castle. You also get to see some rare photos and memorabilia of the actors, director and other items from the movies. The tour is well organised with pick up/drop off. You won’t be disappointed.

What an excellent an unmissable day out that was! I was on the tour bus with my two teens, a group of 4 ladies from England and Alessio, who is such a knowledgable and friendly tour host and driver. He was brilliant.
The whole day was appreciated by all, whether Godfather fans or not, with such great locations, information and atmosphere. A lovely lunch too at Savoca.
I’d recommend doing the optional visit to Castello Degli Shiavi and I’d also recommend seeing as much of the 3 films beforehand as you can to better appreciate the venues and storyline background.

This tour (and Alessio) was the highlight of our holiday and is a must-do when in Sicily. Our guide Alessio was absolutely brilliant - his knowledge of The Godfather movie (and movies in general) was amazing and his enthusiasm was infectious. Alessio is one of the few tour guides (maybe the only one) who has access to Castello degli Schiavi (the house where the car blew up with Apollonia in it and where Michael died as an old man in Godfather 3). It's definitely worth it to pay a bit extra to visit this beautiful historic home filled with movie memorabilia.

Excellent tour for fans of The Godfather trilogy, visiting key filming locations on the east coast of sicily. The star of the show was our guide Allessio, who told a lot of great stories of the filming and provided insightful trivia - and his storytelling skills were impeccable, really engaging. We even got to taste canoli!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Alessio’s knowledge of The Godfather is impressive and is delivered engagingly and passionately. I very much enjoyed our conversation on the representation of gender, art, film and the importance of storytelling. All the locations visited bring the text and films alive. Also the pit stop included complimentary cannolis which were delicious. If I could I’d give it a 6 out of 5.
