Etna Excursion from Catania
From $68.88
Large bus tours usually take visitors to the Etna visitor center and easily accessible craters, but this tour offers a small, personalized exploration of other parts of the mountain. Travel in a 4WD vehicle to areas inaccessible by regular transport, and visit the Valle del Bove, a canyon-like depression with an interesting landscape. The tour also includes exploration of a lava cave.
What to Expect
Begin with pickup at a central Catania hotel in a 4WD vehicle and set off for Etna. Arrive at the volcano and drive up to about 6,560 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level. Your 4WD vehicle takes you to areas inaccessible to regular transport.
Then, take a moderate hike through the Valle del Bove, a horseshoe-shaped depression more than 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) deep. See the moon-like desert and the surrounding landscapes facing the Ionian Sea. Your guide tells you about the geology of the local area.
Afterward, don a helmet and explore a lava tube.
Then, make the journey back to Catania and get dropped off at your original departure point.

good view.

We reached Mt. etna when there was gog and rainy conditions. Hence could not have a good view of the colcano. You must preferably travel when the weather is clear.
