      Give it a miss
Be warned, this is a three hour WALKING tour. Same as a "free walking tour" except this is almost $300AUD. Nowhere in the description does it say it's just a walking tour. It repeatidly states pass by this, and pass by that, your guide may stop here - implying a driving tour, certainly what we expected for that price. Don't be tricked. You can see exactly the same walking up the main avenue by yourself, or take a free walking tour to hear the history for a small tip. We certainlt didn't see any highlights and hidden gems we didn't see by ourselves walking to the meeting point.

      Perfect Palermo Guide
I think a tour with Fabio is a ‘must do’ for anyone visiting Palermo. His knowledge, enthusiasm, sense of humour and personality are exceptional. We saw things and learned things that we would never have found by ourselves ( we are still laughing about the ‘fountain story!’ ) We will book Fabio again next time we are here and recommend 100%. Thank you again for such an enjoyable tour.

A must for foodies visiting Palermo.
Dario was a perfect companion with whom to explore Palermo,- funny, interesting, passionate and knowledgeable. Our time together sped past as we learnt not only about local food specialities but also about Sicilian wines, history, religion, culture etc. We would highly recommend Dario as a guide. He is brilliant!

      Brilliant street food tour
Luca was more than happy to let us try some amazing foods. We mentioned we hadn't tried prickly pears so he made sure we were able to taste some (they are really delicious). He explained the areas we walked through and their history and how Palermo has really morphed over the last 15 years. We all had a better appreciation for the food and culture of this really diverse city.

      Food and learning
We had a great tour with Luca who is knowledgeable and passionate about his city sharing the history, culture and dynamics of the people. He adjusted the tour to our interest, was personable, considerate, and informative. The tour took us to several active markets with a lot of options and a good variety as well. We had some tasty local street foods and desserts in a church with interesting history. Overall really enjoyed our experience - thank you Luca.

      Gentile and knowledgeable
Like many people have said the best way to start your adventure in a new location is to get it with locals guide. Michelangelo was no exception. We did the highlights and hidden gems tour. I feel like we could have done any tour with Michelangelo and we would have loved every minute just as much. Like the best of the with local tours, at the end you feel like you've made a new connection and have the confidence to explore the city fully. What we mainly concluded was that we had not allowed enough time in Palermo to export the treasures he had introduced us to. For the specifics, this is a vigorous walk which covers a large cross section of Palermo. There will be areas that more than likely you would not have gone in without him. Do the tour early in your trip as there are many destinations which will be pointed out to you but you won't have time to explore. We did this tour in the height of summer so after noon is much better than morning. Thank you Michelangelo!!!!

Wanna experience a city like a local, then let a local take you around town!
What a wonderful evening exploring Palermo! Dario was a great host & took care of all our needs with the best meal we’ve had while in Sicily with yummy drinks! Like they say the best way to experience a city is to live like a local…so let a local guide show you around! Definitely recommend doing it while in Palermo!

      Day in the markets
We met with Dario in a central spot, and immediately were immersed in the sounds and aromas of the market! He not only provided us with great Palermo specialities from multiple markets, but he explained the dish and what made it special to the location. A very easy going person, friendly, funny, and with enough sass for our family! Loved our day!

      Perfect introduction to Palermo
Dario was awesome, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide for our street food tour. His passion for the food and history of his city added to the experience. The food tastings were delicious & Dario switched things up for us when he realised we had a few seafood lovers in our group! Dario’s english was exceptional and was happy to answer all of our questions and give us tips for the remainder of our stay. This was the perfect start to our Palermo/Sicily trip.

Go on this food tour with former chef Dario.
My family and I had an incredible afternoon with Dario touring the streets of Palermo, visiting numerous spots and trying dishes that we would not have found on our own. In addition to sharing his love for the food and his hometown, he would provide tips on how to cook something similar at home. Our conversations were engaging, educational and entertaining. Along with the many stories about Palermo, its past and present, we also spoke about Dario's time in the UK working in Michelin star kitchens for 11 years. His passion for food and Palermo was palpable, and I strongly recommend booking with him.

      Great Tour
Loredana made the tour very lively, personal, entertaining and a memorable experience for us. We felt she is passionate about what she is doing. Her stories brought Palermo to our hearts! Just a pity we couldn't do the Catacombe dei Cappuccini. Nevertheless, a definite recommendation!

      Unforgettable experience
We are a group of four adults in our early 60ies, all of us Italy lovers but none of us had been to Palermo before. We were not sure what to expect of a city whose image is so much connected to suffering and violence inflicted by Mafia. Aurora immersed us into the history and current life of Palermo and opened our eyes to a city of diverse cultures, of civilian courage and transformation. It was a journey more than a simple tour - it was enlightening, fun and truly inspiring! Thank you Aurora for showing us your beloved Palermo and turning us into knowledgeable fans of this city🥰 Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

Wonderful insights into Palermo, in great company!!
Let me start by saying that our only regret is that we didn't discover the opportunity to do this 'introductory' guided walking tour earlier in our stay! By the time we approached Michelangelo online to enquire about this walking tour we had already been staying in Palermo for several days. However, unlike most other cities we've experienced, we still felt as though we were missing certain important understandings which could help us to form connections with Palermo. Yet in the relatively short time of our excursion together, Michelangelo revealed the wonderful fusion of cultures and many-layered histories which form the complex city of contrasts that Palermo is today. This was no template tour. Michelangelo absolutely tailored the tour to our needs, even responding to our interests by revising his initial itinerary as we walked. Seeing features of this amazing city through Michelangelo's eyes really brought Palermo alive for us! We covered some new ground as well as some streets and features that had become somewhat familiar to us. It was fascinating how revisiting some of the places we'd been - (and places we'd walked past without seeing) - caused us to look more closely and with new eyes when Michelangelo explained their histories and significance. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening tour. We found Michelangelo to be genuine, knowledgeable, kind, and good company. He speaks English to a high standard, which enhanced our experiences and understandings. It was an added pleasure meeting Michelangelo's lovely girlfriend and discovering her perspectives on the city as well. After the tour had ended we finished our evening at a restaurant in an area shown to us along the way. We had the best meal out we'd had since arriving in Palermo. Thank you so much, Michelangelo. To anyone considering booking an experience with this local guide; don't hesitate. We thoroughly recommend it!

Salvatore clearly loves his home city of Palermo & is great at passing that enthusiasm on to his guests. He really brought the history of Palermo to life, putting everything into context, telling us why and how this amazing city developed such a unique culture, so that we felt a part of it. He didn’t shy away from some of the darker sides of it and gave us a complete picture, with lots of stories, humour & fun on the way. Highly recommended!

The tour with Salvatore made our weekend trip to Palermo extremely memorable. Salvatore reached out ahead of time and, at our request, recommended a great restaurant for the evening prior. During the tour he showed us a few main sights and many more tucked away sights between several neighborhoods. He was very knowledgeable and we greatly enjoyed the historical information as well as the informal discussions. While we stuck to Salvatore’s route, it sounded like each of his tours could be individualized further- to stop for coffee or drinks or whatever the individuals’ desire. We truly appreciated our time together and would highly recommend to others for a personalized experience of fascinating Palermo. Grazie mille Salvatore!

The tour with Michelangelo was great!
He replied within minutes and was super flexible with the starting time, which gave us the opportunity to have a nice breakfast before heading off.

During the tour he gave us great insights into areas, foods and customs that no lonely planet can find. Especially the recommendations for evening activities and bars were useful, as we had afterwards a good idea where to spend the night.

Walking Palermo with a local was great and inspiring. We had only 1 day here and he managed to show us most important spots and make a wholistic picture of the towns historic roots.

He is funny, kind and smart. Would do it all again!

This was one of the best tours we took during two weeks in Italy. We can't say enough good things about Salvatore- he was knowledgeable, passionate, interesting and helped us understand history and context more than any other guide. We needed to deal with a personal issue during the tour. Salvatore not only helped us with that, but he stayed beyond the scheduled end time to make sure we had a full tour. We highly recommend the tour in general- and if you go, go with Salvatore.
