The best experience we had in Palermo! Lorenzo is an excellent translator and personable. It was nice to talk with him. Mia was patient and able to accommodate gluten free pasta and meatballs. Very clean kitchen, quaint, and enjoyable experience. The food was delicious! We recommend Mamma Corleone to anyone wanting to try a cooking class. It was a memorable experience we will cherish forever.

      A wonderful and unforgettable evening
Fun and amazing cooking experience. (Thanks to Lorenzo and mamma Corleone) Like stepping into a loving and warm Italian familys home and feeling like one of them. We left the kitchen grateful, with a smile on our faces and full bellies. Amazing!

      A Most Memorable Day
My sister and I were advised by the staff in a hotel in Mondelo that Mamma Corleone had the best cooking school in Palermo and they were right. The delightful Riham met us before the class to take us on a tour of the fabulous Ballaro Markets. Riham had grown up in the area and knew and was clearly adored by all the traders there who let us sample their wares. On our return to the cooking school, we met our Mamma for the day, who was a beautiful teacher. With excellent and informed English translations by Riham, Mamma systematically guided us through the steps of making delicious panelle, arancini balls and watermelon jelly. We lunched like queens on the dishes, accompanied by great local wine and wonderful conversation. This was one of our most memorable days in Sicily.

      Excellent
Excellent experience. La mamma and the student translating charming, location perfect, food delicious. The magic of creating the most extraordinary out of very few, basic ingredients and simple, non-engineered cooking. We highly recommend.

A fun and informative Italian cooking class!
We love food and took this class for an enjoyable end to our visit to Sicily. It was very informative, fun and the food was delicious! Mamma Corleone timed this class perfectly! First, we made our pistachio dessert so it would chill for after dinner. Next, we prepared a pasta dough. While that rested we prepared eggplant. Then we made meatballs and tomato sauce. We cut the dough into tagliatelle and then put it all together for a wonderful meal of pasta alla Norma. A bottle of wine was opened to add to that authentic dining experience. Lorenzo helped with the English translation and his humor and energy kept this a fun class. All of us consider ourselves pretty good at cooking and walked away with added tips.

The best of Sicily in a morning
We had a beautiful morning cooking with Maria and Lorenzo! Traditional Sicilian menu with amazing quality ingredients - the food was so delicious, the best we had on our trip (and that was a high bar). Would really recommend a morning at Mamma Corleone.

      Wonderful cooking adventure in Palermo!
Great class! Maria Pia was an excellent source of knowledge and Lorenzo did a fantastic job not only translating but adding some humor and even taking pictures for us. Highly recommend! Btw the class is down an alleyway, don't worry -- you're in the right place. Just come a couple minutes before the time and they'll be there!

Delicious dinner of your own making
Of course, coming to Italy, I expected to eat delicious food. However, I did not expect that my delicious food would also be something I prepared myself! What a delight it was to learn to make classic Sicilian dishes at Mamma Corleone! The instructor was a delight, and the translator, Karin was entertaining and helpful and interesting! Could not have had a better experience, only wish I hadn’t eaten all day so I could have had enough space for all the food we prepared. Plus colorful aprons (for €5) are a perfect souvenir! Would recommend to anyone coming to Palermo!

We had a wonderful lesson with Maria Pia and Kharim. It was lots of fun and interesting chatting to them about food and life in Sicily. The food was amazing and I just hope that we can reproduce the meal when we get home… so that it will bring back memories of our fabulous day. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to have a taste of authentic Sicilian good. Thank you so much Maria Pia and Kharim

      Best of Palmero
Cannot rate this highly enough. If we could give it 6 stars we would. Perfect setting, great translator, learned so much! We, as a family of 4 (two teenagers, 15 & 14), enjoyed the company, the lesson (best bit was how to make our own pasta!), the food and the experience. We got to eat some and took the rest away as there was lots left. Pasta alla Norma, meatballs and pistachio dessert, 3 full courses. Grazie MillE Mamma Corleone! Tip: location is on the same side of the nursery just a little past it. Look up as there is a small sign which we missed.

We had the most amazing afternoon cooking our choice of menu - Pasta with prawns and pistachio, Arancini and Cannoli. Flavia, our instructor, and Riham, our translator, were so friendly and we laughed and shared stories (and wine) throughout. The ingredients were high quality and the set up of the cookery school very professional. So much food, we were given boxes to take home. Great location right by the Cathedral. Highly recommend during your stay in Palermo.

Great experience and fun time in the cooking class. We made pasta alla Norma (eggplant), eggplant roll ups, and orange bread. All delicious. The teaching/kitchen set up was lovely, with the door open to the small side street. The instructor Flavia was terrific. Very patient and good demonstration. Upon my return to the US, I immediately went out and bought an eggplant to make the two dishes. If you would like a lovely four hours of true Sicilian cooking, I highly recommend this experience. Wonderful way to gain insight into a tiny slice of Sicilian gastronomy and bring some new knowledge home with you!

The cooking class was great. In total it was me and 2 other ladies who were sisters and then Mama Corleone and her assistant who translated between English and Italian for us. We made a shrimp pesto pasta dish, a fish dish and canollo's too!! It was a lot of fun and it was great to learn to make these dishes from scratch and with fresh ingredients.

When we ate the pasta with the pesto and shrimp, it was the best pasta dish I have ever tasted. It was so good. We had a lot of fun and we got to take home any food we had made but didn't manage to eat.

The class is held in a little cosy rustic kitchen but with modern hobs etc so it was very easy to cook in there. At first I was worried I was going to be late as I couldn't find where it was even though I was on the correct street however I found it in the end. It is easy to find, you just go into the street from the main square and just keep walking down until you feel like you are near the end of the street and then you will see a little door on the left with the cooking school name on it.

I had a lot of fun there and would love to do another cooking class with Mama Corleone in the future if I am in Palermo again. Definitely worth booking a class here!

This was the best cooking class we've ever visited! The food was so tasty, much better then the food you get in the restaurants! The recipies you learn are not so complicated, so you receive a menu you are able to cook at home afterwards, so you have a lasting souvenir from sicily. Also the mamma is really lovely and kind and our translator, Lorenzo translated us everything with fun and joy, so we had a great time!
We can warmly recommend this to everyone who love cooking, food and are interested in a real sicilian experience - grazie mille!

We had a great time. My teenage daughter and I learned a lot about cooking. We appreciated that our chef made one of the dishes gluten free so we could take back to other family members.

Momma Corleone’s cooking class was a highlight of my trip to Palermo. The class exceeded my expectations and I look forward to attending another class when I return. I learned how to make a great traditional Sicilian pistachio pesto for pasta, baccala al forno with a traditional topping, and a wonderful dessert, cannoli shells from scratch with cream made from fresh sheep’s milk ricotta. I highly recommend attending a class if you are anywhere near the center of Palermo. Maria and Federica have made the class so interesting and well streamlined.

Mamma Corleone is the best! She walked us through fish in marinara, a shrimp pesto pasta, and cannoli, and everything turned out amazing. I had no idea I could cook something so tasty, and she helped make it easy. She's charming and funny, and our translator Sophie was phenomenal!! 10/10 would recommend.

My adult daughter and I had a charming extended morning at this wonderful cooking school in Palermo. We learned how to make three local dishes: Sardine Meatballs in the most delicious Pomodoro sauce; Pumpkin and Sicilian Red Shrimp pasta and door utterly delicious Sicilian cookies for dessert. Mamma Corleone and her assistant Lea were supported by local translator Lorenzo and what a charming trio they made. They were both informative and entertaining. We very much enjoyed ourselves and our efforts were rewarded by a delicious lunch of all the goodies we had made, served with some crisp local wine. We were very much made to feel at home. If you’re in Palermo and remotely interested in learning some new recipes, do go to this cookery school. I promise you, you will be charmed. Grazi Mamma Corleone and all of the Crew!

Highly recommend this cooking activity. Great to learn how to cook dishes from scratch along with detailed explanation why Italians are so passionate about cooking and why their dishes taste so good. Our chef and translator were great company and we spent the afternoon learning so much. After cooking, we sat together with a glass of wine and enjoyed the results which were delicious.
