        Don't miss Castelbuono
Fantastic tour to difficult to reach places that are true gems. The wine tour and tasting in the beautiful abbazia was very professional and enjoyable. Castelbuono was a fairytale dream with the added bonus of the Fiasconaro tasting. Valeria our guide was fantastic, warm, friendly and fun and informative. Mille grazie. Highly recommend.

        Fantastic, reassurring customer service
The best travel company we have used whilst travelling. The customer service is second to none. All their drivers are friendly, punctual & make you feel very safe, plus the cars are very clean. We found out less than 12 hours before our flight, at 10:30pm, that our destination airport was closed & we would land somewhere an hour away. It was of course too late to try & rearrange our transfers, plus our flight would have left before the Cassata offices opened. I sent an email explaining & asking if our transfer was still possible, hoping they may see it the following morning. I received an email from Giuseppe almost instantly- despite the fact they will have closed the office hours before- reassuring us that we would still be collected & that it would be no problem at all. He was then on hand for other issues with flight delays etc. and turned a very stressful situation into one that was nothing to worry about.

👎 Etna Volcano visit: A Disappointing Journey with CASSATA TRAVEL!
Summary: absolutely unrealistic and unejoyable schedule, the whole day is just sitting in a bus and then running up&down to the Etna and Taormina. The 2 hours for the Etna is ridiculous the 1,5 hours visit to Taormina is totally pointless. A clear NO-Recommendation for this Trip as it is. The facts: The Trip we booked: Sicilian gems - Mt. Etna & Taormina + Etna 2900 We paid pro Adult ~ EUR 150,-- "Etna 2900" is an extra package, costs about EUR 50-70 pro Person extra, so you can take the Funicular and the special Jeep to climb up to the top of Etna at 2.900 meters. Our expectations: 1) bus transfer and competent guidance in english 2) to visit the top of the Mt. Etna => Torre del Filosofo at 2.919 meters and spend there ~30 Minutes to take some photos and enjoy the view 3) to visit the city of Taormina and visit Teatro Greco-Romano and spend there ~15 Minutes to take some photos and enjoy the view What we experienced: 06:45 AM: Pick-up at at our hotel 08:45 AM: short stop at a Gas station 10:40 AM: Arrival at Etna, Rifugio Sapienza (1.881 meters) => finding Parking place for the bus => the Tour Guide tells us to be back at exactly 13:00 PM at the bus. 11:00 AM: the Tour Guide disappears and turns up around 11:00 AM with our ticket to the Funicular and Jeep => so at this point we have exactly 2 hours to go to the top, spend some time there and come back to the bus => this is (now we now) totally impossible!!! 11:10 AM: our funicular leaves the station 11:25 AM: our funicular arrives at the End station at 2.500 meters where we have to wait to take the Jeep to the top. => waiting time 15 minutes 11:45 AM: the Jeep leaves to the top 12:00 PM: the Jeep arrives at 2.919 meters at Torre del Filosofo => it took exactly 1 hour to get to the top. At this point, to get back to the bus at 13:00 PM is already impossible, as the we have to wait to the returning Jeep at least another 15 Minutes. But instead of turning back, we walk up to the top, because this is actually what we have paid for! 12:20 PM: we arrive at the top and spend there ~5-10 Minutes 12:45 PM: the Jeep starts back downhill 13:05 PM: our funicular leaves the station 13:20 PM: we step out from the funicular 13:25 PM: we arrive with ~25 Minutes "delay" back to the bus, where the Guide & Bus-driver behave very impolite with us because of our delay. => 1 hour to Taormina with the bus 14:30 PM: our Bus arrives at Taormina Parking-house => the Tour Guide tells us to be back at exactly 16:00 PM at the bus. This means: if you take a short break to move your body after sitting in the bus, go to toilet, take the elevator up to Taormina and walk to the entrance of the old-town, you have about 1 hour net to visit Taormina actually. => the Teatro Greco-Romano is 1 kilometer from here, so if you want to visit the theater you must run like crazy, and you can forget to see or enjoy the old town, to go shopping or stop for an ice or coffee. We decide to skip the Teatro Greco-Romano and spend our 1 hour in a Coffee and just walk 30 Minutes in the old town before returning to the bus, so we basically miss to see the Teatro Greco-Romano .. however this is what we paid for. 19:30 PM: arrival back to the hotel. Our feedback to CASSATA TRAVEL: Less is more! 1) to visit the Top of Etna at 2.919 meters, you need at least 3 hours or more, you plan 2 hours 2) to visit Taormina you need 2,5 hours or more, you plan 1,5 hours The Taormina part is absolutely pointless, instead of this, 3,5 hours Etna would be much enjoyable.

Way too long! 10 hour day
What was supposed to be a 7 hour trip was actually 10 hours! First hour was spent picking up people from 10 different locations..far too much! Valley of temples good but we were given 2 hours 15 mins at next stop which was way too long. It was supposed to be an hour stop. Traffic was fine so no excuses there. This trip needs to be advertised as 10 hour day not 7

Lovely, but quite a big group
Great tour, slightly rushed and group was way over 15 people so felt a little like being in a seminar but wine was fab, and Castelbuono was gorgeous.

        Castelbuono is a must see
Castelbuono was a great experience. The town itself is so cute and located in the mountains in the national park. I wouldn't have thought to come up there if it wasn't for the tour. Highly recommend. The tour guides are knowledgeable and personable and the sights are breath taking.

Sicily left a terrible experience thanks to Cassata travel (and TUI)
Cassata Travel organised our fly-drive for TUI and it was terrible: dirty bathrooms, a chess contest in the hotel for children which ment: overcrowded hotel, people sitting on the stairways, bar not available because children’s had to sit somewhere. Hotels on streets where one couldn’t walk because too dangerous (cars everywhere and no safe places te walk). Hotels who looked perfect on their websites but the things they promised weren’t there. This was once but never again TUI (Cassata travel)

        As previously related
As the other reviewers say this is a fantastic experience which will bring a smile to your face and fill your belly at the same time. Roberta is a diamond, there’s nothing she doesn’t know about Sicily, speaks perfect English too. I thoroughly recommend this excursion.

Recommended but be prepared for a long day
Good experience but a much longer trip than advertised This is an interesting trip and we’re glad we did it but it’s closer to 13.5 hours and not 10 hours. Our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and keen that we have the best experience. Bus was air conditioned but toilet out of order. The journey of 2.5 hours on the way back with no bathroom stop was too long. Better to cut 15 mins from one of the stops elsewhere so a comfort break could be worked in. Etna is fascinating and definitely worth a visit. Taormina was worth the brief stop off for photos.

Disappointing tour guide - not like Roberta who does the dinner in mountains day out
I was really looking forward to this tour and the wind tasting itself was very nice although they had miscommunicated the number of us on the tour which meant we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table to be set for us and extra wine glasses and the plates of food to be ready. It was however the lackluster tour guide that made this a disappointing trip - she told us the history on the way in the coach but made no effort to get to know us and conducted all of this narration in a monotone voice and without looking at us at all! If I compare this tour guide to the wonderful Roberta who oversaw the dinner in the mountains they are really night and day - Roberta's passion and energy were simply contagious whereas this lady seemed bored and made the tour disappointing when a tour guide's role is to energize and inspire those she is guiding.

        A breath-taking tour
Roberta was a simply amazing guide and being from the local area having grown up and lived in this remote village her passion and love for the heritage and its people and food and customs was contagious. The dinner itself after the wonderful tour through the village was such fun - full of dancing and laughter and do not think you will be allowed to sit down and relax - Pedro will have you up dancing and singing the night away!! I LOVED it.

        Well organised tour
Picked up on time in central Cefalu in a new coach - good communication with company before trip and guide was obviously passionate about her subject. Not a lot of time at Scala but Agrigento is an amazing place to visit.

Excellent trip and very good value.
The coach trip up through the mountains was very scenic, Esther our guide gave a very intetesting commentary. The wine tour was very informative and the wines and aperitifs were delicious. Castelbuono is very pretty and in general we found the tour extremely good value for money. We would highly recommend.

Amazing local food trip to the mountains
We loved this half day trip to San Mauro Castelverde and Contrada Karsa. Roberta was our guide, she is a lovely talented lady. She speaks very well English and she has many stories about the area we visited, she grew up there. We met briefly with her family too, lovely people! The bus tour to San Mauro is full of breath taking views, it's very nice break after the beaches in Sicily. San Mauro is on the top of the hill, and it's a very pretty little village with about 2000 people which is roughly 30 families she said. The place has few local stores and they only sell local products. We also tried some amazing local cakes (free of charge) which was so delicious that we ended up buying some more for our friends. We also visited 2 different churches with big history, and both of them were lovely inside and out. After our trip to San Mauro we headed to Karsa for a local dinner. A very nice local lady presented us some amazing sicilian recepie. They have there a lovely kitchen where they show all the steps of some sicilian starters, it was an amazing experience. Obviously we had those starters and other amazing sicilian dishes with a very nice house wine, and while we were there we had 2 amazing musicians playing various Italian music, very nice people!! We had a little dance too! It was the best and unique trip we had in Sicily. I recommend it to everyone visiting Cefalu to take this trip. We left 4PM and arrived home around 11PM. We loved every step of it! Well done Roberta! 😀
