      Great experience, highly recommended
Fantastic trek on Etna with a very knowledgable and friendly guide, Simone. The route covered a variety of the amazing features of the volcano and Simone gave interesting details and context on these in an engaging way throughout the trip. Overall a great experience and one I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

A day with Aitne, a lifetime experience
What a phenomenal experience! My group was guided by Simone, who made us feel at ease during the entire day. I would recommend on taking multiple layers (t-shirt, hoodie & jacket) when trekking Mt. Etna as the temperatures can be a bit different from the warm days on the lovely Sicilian beaches :) I was overwhelmed by the knowledge and pleasantness of the guides at Aitne, they kept me intrigued and entertained during the entire trek. I hope to be back on Mt. Etna one day, Truly wonderful adventure, highly recommended!

If you want a great experience ask for Luca and Peppe
Super experience, very nice guides with a lot of knowledge. They were open to questions and they had great explanations. Peppe and Luca paid a lot of attention to everyone to be sure everyone was oke during the hike. At the end we had a nice talk about our experience and if we were oke with Peppe and waved him goodbye. So at the end of the day it was a great experience we will never forget due to our guides. Ps. We used a lot of our imagination (it was cloudy at times) Greetings the Dutch girls

One of the greatest days in my life
I'll start with the nutshell: we are so glad, that we chose Aitne. For those who like to read: If you're up to climb Etna and don't want to do it without a guide (which I would recommend), you may be overwhelmed by the lots of different providers, offering tours to Etna. The first thing that lead to convincing us from Aitne was the almost 24/7 availability on Whatsapp. Service: Even after several days and a lot of questions from our side (which they probably answer 50 times a day), the contact was always available, helpful and straight. They even organized a transport from Taormina to the meeting point, as Taormina is not the most common spot to start Etnas climbing tours (;Catania is). Of course, they have proper shoes, jackets and helmets available. The Tour: We started at 9 o' clock at the Rifugio di Sapienza (1900m), took the cable car up to 2500m and went up to 3000m by feet, where we enjoyed breathtaking views on different craters. Up there, we had a relaxed lunch (on top of a Volcano) and then started our descent. Descending was (way) more fun than expected, as you were almost skiing down on boulders and rubble - hilarious! The Guide: Do you know these people, whom you instantly and completely trust at first sight? Francesco ("Ciccio") is one of these. More than just deeply connected to Mt. Etna, he seemed like Etnas personification to me. (although they say Mt. Etna's personality is female, but who really cares about genders) The fire in his eyes when talking about Volcanism, his impression of profound knowledge and his close, friendly aura make me believe, that there can not be a better guide than Ciccio. He translated everything in funny english for us as well (Come on'eh. Italien people'eh speaking'e english is'eh funny.) So, this guide is reason enough, to choose Aitne. Hint: Yes, it's true what they say: It can get really cold up there. You won't regret choosing the long trousers and taking a sweater with you. Second and last nutshell: This was one of the greatest days in my life - thanks to Ciccio and Aitne - and I'm deeply thankful for that experience - Grazie!

      Mountain biking around the Etna
Very professional and well organised tour. We had Giuseppe as a guide (he speaks French and English well) and he was very patient with us although we had never done mountain biking before. I'd recommend the tour to anyone who is a bit adventurous, the MTB have electric assistance so it doesn't require a high level of fitness and the views in the forest and around the Etna are just amazing. Totally worth the money. Grazie!

thanks to our guide Marco Tomasello, we had great experience to visit Etna. It was my dream to clime It back to couple of years! finally We were there in July 2019. Because Etna was activated, We clime down to the other side and running down on the ash, walking on the lava. that was awesome! thanks to our guide. he said that We were the first Chinese he guided. Recommended!

Excellent trip of the south side of Etna
Massimo and Luca were great. Really informative, and though it was tough going for me (less so for my partner) I would do it again with the same people! Very well organised, all safety aspects were considered... and Etna did some nice eruptions for us. Perfect.

      Epic Etna hike
We booked a private guided hike with Guiseppe, one of Aitne’s guides. It was a fantastic day. Guiseppe’s knowledge of Etna, it’s history and geology was extensive. It was hard not to be inspired by his passion for the mountain. Which made the hike all the more fun and interesting. We could not hike the summit as the path was closed. But we saw so much, other craters and the awe inspiring Valle de Bove, that we never felt short changed. Thank you Guiseppe 😀. We would wholeheartedly recommend this.

      Etna Valle del Bove
Disappointed to arrive at Etna to learn we couldn't do the summit crater tour so we did the Valle del Bove instead which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is very diverse and has a lot to offer - craters, lava flows, flora and loads of fun running down pumice scree slopes. Our guide Marco of Aitne was excellent. Recommended.

      Most amazing trip
We did the Etna volcano tour with Mountain Guide Marco, and it was spectacular. We were able to hire the kit we needed and the group was well organised getting up the cable car and into the 4x4 bus. From there we hiked, and stopped at times for info from the guide, including points from history, myths and legends surrounding the Etna volcano. At the top of the crater we had some good visibility, and could clearly see into some of the deeper sections. Marco was very clear in his explanations, which he gave in English and French for the group at the time, and we felt very safe in his capable hands. I cannot recommend this trip enough, if you are in the area you should definitely contact these guys

Climbing the Etna with whole family (grandmother & grandchildren !)
Grandmother walked on her 75th birthday up to the crater of the Etna !! . Only possible because we had the best guide by Massimo Braconi. "Brac"; Very professional, lot of knowledge of the vulcano, adjusting the tempo and gave a save feeling so the whole family reached the top. The climb is not easy but the reward is at the top, beautifull, very impressief, once in a life time experience. Aitne organization was very helpfull to organize a guide on a very short notice also providing the correct shoes. Speaks Italian ofcourse but also english and french. All the people were very kind. Best place to book your trip to the Etna !!

Really good experience. AITNE will contact you telling where to meet etc. Please note the additional cost which is for the cable car and the bus (€78 per person at the time of writing you can pay cash or card at base of the mountain). When we arrived for the excursion the lady from AITNE was trying to put us off from doing the walk as in her opinion we were not gonna be able to do it. We were gonna prove her wrong. We were pretty fit, no heart issues and excited so nobody was gonna stop us! Our guides, Fabio and Massimo were fantastic. They began the walk with a few reassuring pointers saying we are walking up slowly and they were considerate to the young and the slow in the group and were very accommodating to my two teenage daughters. We had breaks and both guides provided education on Etna. We had a great time proving the lady wrong. Though AITNE provides you with a jacket and boots, takes some additional layers with you as it can get cold up there. Its weird as you are sweaty and cold at the same time! Also take food and water with you. I hope you all enjoy walking up there as much as we did!

My fiance and I selected the summit craters tour with hope of looking into an active volcano. Unfortunately this was not to be. Recent activity at the summit resulted in a closure to visitors that day. It didn't matter. Our guide Marco was personable, knowledgeable, and multilingual. We hiked from the top cable car station up past where the busses stop and had time to eat the lunch we brought. The whole time, Marco explained what we seeing, checked on the health and well being of our group, and related personal stories and history of Etna. On the way down, we RAN. For fun. The whole group. It was an incredible experience, descending 600ft of elevation minutes. The whole experience with AITNE was excellent from online reservations to check-in. They had complimentary loaner equipment like boots, poles, backpacks, and warm jackets. They even had socks.

If you get the opportunity and are fit enough then do this hike. We were fortunate to go on a clear day when Etna was puffing out cloud rings. Giuseppe and Lucia were excellent guides giving us interesting facts about the geology of the area and leading us safely up the volcano making sure everyone was ok. The views of the craters, Catania and the Alcantra river valley were spectacular. In terms of the walk it is only 6km long but there is a 500m ascent/decent. The terrain is tough. Bring good walking boots. The boots of one person in our group broke, fortunately near the bottom. The guides check everyone's footwear before departure and if it is not good enough they will provide good boots. They also provide good jackets if needed as it is cold and windy at the top. (We were over 3000m high). I recommend long trousers as the rocks are sharp so if you stumble and have bare legs you can easily cut yourself. (This happened to one lady in our group who was wearing shorts). Also take something to put over your mouth ( mask/snood). The gases can be quite choking at times and this helps. As an experienced hill walker who is heading towards 60 I found the walk OK but the last ascent was hard going probably because of the altitude. Coming down was easy (even for my arthritic knees) as you scree run down volcanic ash. Do go if you get the chance. I hope this review helps you to take the appropriate kit and understand some of the high points of the walk but also some of the challenges.

Today we did a tour with Marco. Communication upfront was very good and clear (we knew exactly what to expect, route and cost wise). Shoes, poles and helmet will be provided. Unfortunately the central crater cannot be visit (due to the activity of the volcano). However the tour was very nice, informative. Our group was mixed, french, Italian and English speaking. Marco made sure that everyone was ok, and informed.
    Highly recommended!

    Highly recommend!

AITNE tour, and SIMONE did a fantastic job! We saw all the major craters on top of Etna, and most importantly, they kept our safety the first priority. It was a great deal, about $65pp, which included the full guided tour. The gondola (up/down) and the 4x4 (saves quite a bit of time) for up only was €60 extra, payable in cash. Simone was very knowledgeable and certified volcanologist, giving us both Etna historical information and generic volcano knowledge. Spoke great English.

Definitely do this tour, you won’t regret it.

We booked a guided tour to the top of Etna in August 2024. Just before the trip we were informed that the central crater could not be visited due to the high risk of eruption, so we were not sure if the tour was worth it.
But when the tour started we were proved wrong. Our guides were Giuseppe and Simone. They both did a great job and managed to capture our attention and interest in the volcano right from the start. We learned a lot about the history and the volcanic processes.
We climbed to an altitude of 3000 meters and were able to enjoy a wonderful view over the old and recently formed craters. At the top we could inhale the gases coming from the lava, feel the heat of the lava stones and have a nice picknip at the top. Last but not least, we got some local (secret) tips about the Sicilian food and drinks from Giuseppe.
I would highly recommend to book and do this tour if you are visiting Sicily.

Giuseppe was an excellent guide and showed us what he could on Etna given that the summits were officially closed off because of volcanic activity. We did see a very recent lava flow (hot enough to light newspaper), lava tubes, gas vents, and several older craters. Finally, he made sure our very international group all got off the mountain safely and together.

We took the summit trek with 8-9 year old kids. At the meeting point we were warned several times that the trek might be too hard for them due to the high altitude. We all had to sign that we are aware of the difficulty of the trip and that we are all healthy and ok. They were extremely cautious and also very kind. They told us we could turn back at a certain point with the third guide, if we found the trek too difficult.

Thankfully, the kids had no problems. The guides took care that we all went steadily and with the pace of the slowest ones in the group. They made sure everyone was ok and provided us with all the information we needed.

In the end we had a great time and finished the trek with a smile. The views of all the activity on the top and druring the trip were breathtaking! The guides explained everything on the way and made the trek even more interesting.

I would like to add that the trek is appropriate for fit people and those who do not have issues with high altitude. Nevertheless, we really did feel safe with our guides.

We went for a tour with the Aitna group, and had Simone as a guide.
    The staff:
Sympathetic and very quick to answer questions and requests, organised and reliable, everything you wish for when climbing an active volcano.
    The guide:
Taking his time to explain, to help, to answer questions, professional and Sympathetic too.
    The gear:
We got hiking boots, and helmets, the rest we already had. Quality was good and enough for the climb.
    The tour itself:
A long ride with cable car, followed by 4x4 busses, until reaching higher ground, and starting the hike. The hike itself goes 500m up, and is steep, a bit of condition is required, although the guide checks regularly on everybody, gives hint, and adapt the pace depending on needs. Once on the top, not going to spoil anything you'll see by yourself :) and the going down part was fun, due to the consistency of the path itself.
Thanks a lot to Simone and his colleagues for a great discovery and cheer up guys! 5 stars deserved :)
