Chef Guide NEVER Showed. Operator Failed to Rectify.
I booked this course for 5 people (through Travelocity, not TripAdvisor - but the local operator was the same; Curioseety Sicily; so it is the same course). I booked 11 days in advance and it was confirmed. We showed up at the appointed time and place, and the chef never showed up. We were finally able to contact the operator by email (they did not answer the phone), and got the response "Sorry but we completely forgot about this Booking. I can check for tomorrow or refund you now I am really sorry but we have some issue with the manager of the bookings." I told them that we were not available on an alternate day and that we had driven here for this course and that they should figure out how to arrange a course today. Some time later I got the message "Sorry Paul i have to cancel and refund you then. I m really sorry i did not see the Booking. And the chef today Is not in town." Needless to say, getting the money back was hardly the point. We were looking forward to the class, and now we would completely miss out. We also wasted a day of our vacation driving to the class location. I was especially sad for our friends who we had invited. BEWARE THIS OPERATOR - CURIOSEETY SICILY, and also Travelocity who confirmed the tickets without actually assuring that the operator followed through, and when I contacted Travelocity about the problem they never responded.

One of the nicest date ideas in Catania!
We loved learning about the process and taking part in it both by making our own clay vessels as well as painting! We get to keep all of the things we made and Giovanni was an amazing teacher and friend!

      Canceled at the last minute
They never showed up! I had to call several times to see where the tour guide was. When someone finally answered, they told me the tour was canceled. This company is not reliable

      Fascinating insights, fabulous food!
This tour was really excellent. We met Roberto at the Cathedral steps in Ortigia and he gave us a fascinating introduction to the town's history and culture. The tour was tailored to suit the clients and we found him an extremely good communicator. We heard interesting and illuminating stories about the various eras of the town, visited the Jewish Quarter and looked inside the caves and tunnels where the people sheltered doing WWII bombing. Then Roberto took us to the market which was full of wonderful sights, sounds and scents. We had a delicious cafe lunch tasting some of the specialities Roberto selected for us near the sea wall amongst a crowd of locals and visitors. This was followed by coffee, cannoli and gelato. It was a fabulous 3 hours and a highlight of our visit to Syracuse.

Worth every penny. Mommy daughter trip.
Amazing! Worth the trip. I just took my daughter and with it being the two of it it was a laid back experience. It was so neat to see their process and learn more about pottery. Both myself and my daughter(age7) have used a pottery wheel before which I think helped smooth things along. The staff was welcoming and helpful. 100% recommend for a small group (under 3 people). It is in their working factory and it can cause disruptions with a large group. Especially I the smaller spaces and risk of breaking.

      Do this tour!
Highly recommend Roberto! He has lived his entire life in Siracusa and is well-versed in the history, nooks and crannies of the location, and current culture. Along the tour many of the locals said hello. Lots of history on this street food tour. Ended at the market where we had lunch at a local sandwich shop that makes their own mozzarella, and cures their own meat. It was fantastic. Highly recommend!

      Falsely Represented Tour! Beware!
I booked this tour because it was a cooking class at an olive oil farm with olive oil tasting and a tour of an olive mill. This NOT at an olive mill. It is at a home in a residential area in Agrigento. The hosts were kind, but it was not what we paid for or were expecting. Instead of learning to cook pasta, sauce and cannolis, we learned to make only the pasta and then were given octopus, squid and mackerel all boiled and grilled. We were not given any notice about the strange foods and no one in our family- especially the children— like seafood. We are landlocked in Colorado. Particularly not strange boiled seafood. No one ate anything except the pasta and the awkwardness of being in someone’s home left us feeling pressured to try off-putting gelatinous seafoods. One adult in our party vomited because of eating foods that caused such disgust for people unfamiliar with them. We requested a refund due to false representation of this cooking experience. The tour operator and Viator should be diligent about accurately representing tours. Literally no olive farm in sight. And if such strange foods (to Americans) are to be served it should be made apparent in the description. Very disappointed in Viator for not making this right.

Amazing Experience cooking with Anna in her Sicilian home
Loved this cooking experience in Anna’s cute Italian/Sicilian home. Definitely ask for Anna and cooking at her home experience. It was such a lovely experience — gave us a great local feel. We learned how to make fish, pasta, pesto, peppers. Highly recommend! We had a great dinner after at her place!

      Host did not show
We followed the directions on our ticket and buzzed the apartment. We buzzed for 45 minutes but no one let us in. We are very disappointed as the class was a lot of money and we had been excited. I hope to hear of a refund.

      A great lesson
Anna is an amazing teacher. She makes it all simple with a ‘can do’ attitude. She is also incredibly well educated and can tell you anything about her beloved Sicily

      Very bad experience, avoid.
Very unhappy - got a message a couple of hours after booking to say that the tour was cancelled. Yet the payment was not immediately annulled and I am still awaiting my refund. What's more, the tour was still showing as available for booking the following morning, the very day it was intended to take place!

Cooking class with Fulvio in Palermo
This was such a great experience for me and my son. Fulvio was so hands on with us cooking and made us to have such a great evening in his home. I can highly recommend this if you are looking for a cooking class that is above anything else.

      Fantastic.. Once we got there.
OK so we tried to plan getting there and still didn't really work. Getting here is potentially tricky and not cheap if you don't drive there.. But it's wine tasting, why would you drive? No direct bus to anywhere close, we tried bus part of the way then hoped getting a taxi would be easy.. No. Definitely plan this better or it will be at least €35 each way roughly from Catania. We got ripped off €80 there and they helped with the €35 taxi back. Moan out of the way.. Once there it was fantastic. Our host was great, very knowledgeable and we learnt so much about the history of the wines and processes and as you can see from the photos a great place. We have done a wine tasting elsewhere in Italy and left very tipsy, this was a different experience. If you want a wine tasting where you genuinely learn so much and everything this is the one for you, If you want a wine tasting to get you tipsy or drunk this isn't the one for you. Regardless of the massive mission and expense getting to and from, the actual tour itself was very good indeed and staff were great!

Fulvio was truly knowledgeable, hospitable, funny and generous. He made us feel welcomed in his home. A true professional. Him and his assistants helped us successfully prepare an amazing for course meal! He also set the atmosphere with music. The shopping experience was pretty cool too. You will not be disappointed if you take this course. Absolutely my favourite experience in Palermo.

My favorite part was seeing my adult children helping to cook the meal! It was fantastic to see how simple each recipe was and how easy it would be to recreate these delicious foods at home. It was our first full day in Sicily and it was beyond fantastic! Fulvio is so much fun and so welcoming. The views from his kitchen balcony were incredible and the memories made will last forever. The whole experience was above and beyond all my expectations. The food market tour was the best because it was very local and authentic, unlike the bigger markets we saw along the rest of our vacation. It was a peek into authentic Sicilian life. Fulvio's passion for cooking, entertaining and the Sicilian way of life was palpable. If in Palermo this is a "must do" experience!

We had dinner with Fulvio at his apartment with his sous chef Mauritzio. It was a really fun evening with lots of good food, wine and music! Fried little red mullet was delicious, though we couldn't take any credit for cooking that one...Learnt so much about Palermo food ...black lentils from Etna...
Fulvio is a charming, considerate and entertaining host and looked after us very well.

My experience with Fulvio and the cooking class was more than I had expected! I loved going into the market and seeing how he bought food what was available. Everything was fresh from the market that we cooked and ate. Definitely a highlight of my stay in Palermo.

Fulvio welcomed us with open arms and showed us the best food the city of Palermo has to offer. He gave us a great tour around the city and also did a cooking class for us that left us real full 😋 I appreciated the hospitality Fulvio has to offer and would definitely recommend anyone who stops in Palermo to take a tour with him as it is a great experience!!

My boyfriend booked a cooking class with Fulvio as a surprise birthday gift. I really didn’t know what to expect, but the whole experience exceeded anything I could have imagined! We met Fulvio in the morning at a cute local market (make sure to get some locally produced honey!) and left way after past lunch time. Fulvio and Luca made us feel so welcomed and not only was the food amazing and we got so many valuable tips, but it felt like spending the afternoon with a dear friend, drinking delicious wine and preparing an outstanding 3 course meal. Fulvio‘s passion for hosting and his love for Sicily and Palermo are contagious and we will remember this very special experience for many years to come - especially every time we cook a salt crusted fish or the delicious pasta a lá Norma.
Thanks for everything, Fulvio and Luca! Can’t wait to join you for the food market tour next time!
