Great Family Excursion with Drinks and Great Shopping nearby.
Great experience and a great feast with lots and lots of wine. Went with 2 children (14 and6) and both kids enjoyed. Taormina is awesome town as well with lots of high end shopping.

      Avoid. Bad tourist trap tour.
Sunset etna tour - bad tour. The tour at the mountain run by a local guide is fine (but not connected to SAT). On the way they force a stop at a local waste of time tourist trap shop, and then after the mountain take you to a tourist trap restaurant whether you want to go or not and costs extra. This means the tour ends very late, unnecessarily late, at past midnight.

Mini Cruise to the Aeolian islands with my cousins!
I was so extremely excited to take this cruise with my cousins. We had this plan for months! We met our tour guide, Alexandria, who was very friendly and informative. She made us feel very comfortable and well informed. We had a great time visiting Stromboli and Panarea. We were even lucky enough to witness volcanic eruptions on Stromboli from a distance of course. I would highly recommend this 10-12 hour mini cruise for anyone visiting north eastern Sicily.

Well organised high volume tour of Mt Etna
A great tour, efficiently run with a large group speaking three languages. First stop at Alcantara river was a nice break in a long journey with an option to go down to see riverside caves (extra cost). Etna ‘base camp’ was a surprise to find a string of uninspiring restaurants and tatty tourist shops in an awesome remote natural environment. There are options to hike or take a cable car and four wheel drive truck then hike up to the craters. Good commentary throughout. It’s amazing but do take sturdy footwear and a wind proof jacket. Very affordable and good value tour. Private tours also available if you want to avoid crowds.

      A super day out
What a really enjoyable day trip the minibus was well air conditioned and our guide was really friendly. Both the islands were lovely. We took the bus trip around lipari so we could see the island but the driver only commentated in Italian. However a lovely gentleman next to me translated for me. It was only 15 euros so well worth it I feel. We didn’t take the tour on Vulcano as we sat and had lunch but did see the black beach and mud baths. The ferry took us all around the island though so we didn’t miss anything. Do this if you get the chance it’s well worth it.

      Without compare, UNESCO Site
Spent two full hours with an excellent tour guide, Carmelido Fuca, exploring. She brought the rich history to life and made clear a multi-millennium drama, that luckily preserved one temple and many other partial temples and alters from 400 BC. Greeks, Carthaginians, and Romans are all players in the long history.

      Dont miss your chance!
What a fun day experiencing an up close and personal experience with an active volcano. Temperatures were perfect, there wasnt much wind and visibility was great! The guide was very very informative and shared great info about the towns we drove through along the way. Her English was very good and easy to understand. We did the trip to 2900m via cablecar and jeep and then met the volcanist who lead our hike to the highest crater. Spectacular views and overall great experience. We dressed in layers and wore good running sneakers. Soil is loose and paths can be steep which was fine for us but wouldnt be if you had any mobility issues or were not in decent shape. Also its ideal to wear long sleeves and long pants, there were a LOT of tiny bugs that landed all over us.

      AMAZING!
SAT group did not disappoint. Departure was on time, the bus was comfortable and our tour guide Alexandra was so informative and very sweet. Our bus driver Angelo was the best driver I have ever had manoeuvring the bus in the slim Taormina streets! The trip went so smoothly we loved it so much that we booked another trip right away with SAT group. Thank you again!

Valley of the Temples and Villa del Casale Day Trip from Taormina, with Renate our Tour Guide.
We were so looking forward to this excursion and it did not disappoint! It’s a must if you don’t mind an early start! We had the pleasure of our lovely tour guide Renate. She was so knowledgeable and we felt safe in her hands that we boarded the right bus at the right time! She was so thoughtful and kind as my partner had injured her leg/foot earlier in the holiday and Renate was very patient with our slow walking! A really lovely leisurely lunch in a restaurant which offered traditional Sicilian food including Arancini. Hats off to our driver who covered the distance of 580 Kms from Taormina to Agrigento and Valley of the Temples and then on to Villa Romana del Casale ensuring our safety and comfort. It’s a longish day but well worth the journey. A special thank you to our special guide Renate x

      Great Trip at Sea
This is a long day trip between 12-14hrs but well worth it even though we couldn't see the eruptions. We hadn't thought of going on this tour till we had had an excellant tour with this company who are excellent. We was picked up by coach near to our hotel and then taken to Millazzo where we joined the boat that first took us to Panarea. You get off at Panarea small village with narrow streets and with few coffee bars and restaurants/cafes ample time is given to wander and explore and get a brew. Then it's back on the boat to Stromboli where again you disembark and again given time to wander round have a drink and some food. Its is very similar to Panarea nice narrow streets and well maintained, more shops and cafes/restaurants on Stromboli. You can sometimes as you was wandering hear the eruptions from the other side of the island. You then rebound the boat as the sun starts to set and set of round to the the side of the island to hopefully see the eruptions the trip takes you round Strombolicchio and its sea horse head rock before finally getting the first view of the active side. Unfortunately for us there was low cloud cover so our view of the eruptions was null but you could still hear the eruptions. The low cloud gave an eerie aspect to the island and some good photos as the sun set. Then its back to port and coach home. If you like the sea and travelling by boat this is a great trip with great views we heard people complain it hadn't been worth it because they had seen the eruptions but thats the awesomeness and unpredictability of nature. Not everyday you get to walk on an island with an erupting active Volcano.

Great Trip With a Good Company
Two of the reasons for going to Sicily was to see Mt Etna and ride the Ferrovia Circumetnea Railway, I found this trip which allowed us to do both. I had an issue with booking on line and had to email the company expecting the usual week to wait for a reply which seems the post pandemic norm, but no 10 minutes after sending a reply was received and we conversed throughout the day to resolve my payment issue nothing being too much trouble. Anyway back to the tour. The tour was excellent and ticked all our boxes we were picked up at 7.40 am thankfully near to our Hotel on a modern clean coach driven by Enzo and our guide was Alexandra at the time stated. First stop was the Alcantara Gorge and it is optional to pay and go in as this entry is not part of your ticket for the few € cost it is worth it and there’s a lift that takes you down to river level. Next stop is Randazzo Railway Station after a short stop to let you get photos of Mt Etna. On the station is a oldy worldy cafe where you can get a coffee and bite if you have time. Here you board the train and you enjoy the views as it winds its way around the base of Mt Etna and Alexandra pointed out things of interest like the massive expanses of pistachio trees. After about an hour you rejoin the bus and it takes you to Mt Etna. Here you stay at the lower level where there are bars and shops where the food and drink is reasonably priced and have plenty of time to wonder round or if you paid to go up (well worth doing) you join the cable car. Once up you are met and put onto 4x4 trucks and driven further up the Volcano where you meet your guide. They then take you on foot up the volcano stopping at points of interest and to allow people to photograph and catch up. It is recommended to take a jacket but more for the wind than cold for me and sturdy flat soled shoes these really are a must, trainers are ok. Once down there’s time for a coffee or beer before the coach takes you back to your pick up point. All in all a long but very good day well run and informative, never felt rushed like on some previous tours ample time to wander and see things in the various stops. Well worth the money

      Full access tour
The trip was amazing. The bus ride in was very knowledgable, with lots to look at and learn. 100% it's worth the upgrade to be able to use the Cable car and the 4x4 to get up to the top. Once at the very top you get to walk around the 2022 Eruption Crater. Not physically exhausting at all. Lots of areas to get food and beverages at the bottom. 3 pick up/ drop off points which worked great for people even not staying in Taormina. If you are not planning on paying for the cable car/ 4x4 it's very unlikely you will be able to hike to the top in time to get back to your departure.

There was an accident on route and we were delayed by an hour or more. Consequently, we did not arrive at Syracuse until 11am. Our tour was like a route march in the heat of the day. I was so hot and bothered that I didn’t take in a word our guide said. Ortigia is beautiful and I would highly recommend a visit but it wasn’t much fun in a day trip from Taormina. To fully appreciate this beautiful place, I would recommend that visitors consider staying overnight.

Hello, we are sorry to read about the accident. That is really something that is not under our control. We also do not have any control on the heat. We are sorry that a beautiful day in Siracusa has been spoiled by these two factors. Warm regards. SAT Group Customer Care

    Hello you!

I went with my friend to Syracusa by the SAT TRAVEL - AGENCY in Taormina.
    It was a good choice:
a nice trip.... kind peple on bord of the bus....
and we saw a lot for example: the greece theatre - the roman theatre - and the old City of Syracusa.
Most impressive to me: The cathedrale SANTA MARIA.... inside the temple of the GREECE - the ROMAN and the CATHOLICS... all together = a place where you can travel through thousands of years of the human beings - and a it seems to be a place for european hope:
I learned that nothings is lost - and everythings flues... in the history of all of us.

I saw the Ear of Dyanysos before.... simply : WOW!!!!

The guides are very competent - the bus is comfortable !
So, whenever I come back to Taormina - I ´m shure I will travel again with SAT G. T. - ..... next time to PALERMO?
Who knows - but shure,I will tell you about in a few years - because:
    Sicily is my big love!

    Bye bye

The initial visit to the Greek and Roman (amphi)theatres was wonderful. However the rest of the tour tried to take in too much and far too fast. The day was very warm and in Ortygia we started with a rapid walk to the Fountain of Aretusa. Nowhere to sit, and though of great historic importance there was not a lot to see. Then a walk to the main piazza and the fantastic cathedral. We couldn't hear the guide in the cathedral and his English wasn't too good. Then another walk to the third site, by which time we were panting. All too much and too fast.
The tour company should reconsider. Ortygia deserves better. It would be far better in Ortygia (and easier for the guide) if we started at the cathedral and were given maps and directions to discover the other main sites in our own time.

Hello JillCork, the visit of Ortygia involves some walking and that is absolutely necessary, as the island is all a pedestrian area and the sites are spread out all over. Regarding the interest about the sites, that is subjective and everyone has his own taste and judgment. Regarding the heat in October, that is very unusual, at least you did not experience July/August when it is really unbearable. In any case, the logistic of the visit has been planned all over the years and we are sorry if you did not agree on that. We hope next time we can offer a 100% satisfactory experience. I don’t drive and using public transport is not a viable option for visiting various sites/cities in Sicily. Hiring a private driver would have been far too expensive, so I had no option other than to join a guided tour.

After doing my research I decided to go with SAT and booked a couple of excursions online, which was easy and straightforward.

On the morning of the tour the bus arrived promptly at the bus terminal, but upon seeing the size of the coach (a huge double decker) I instantly had a sense of dread - as it obviously meant that this group was going to be massive - and it was. We spent the first hour picking up other customers, and the bus was full.

The majority of the tourists were German, there was maybe 8 Brits, six Italians, and a couple of French tourists. As we made our way to Syracuse our guide made various announcements in all four languages.

When we arrived in Syracuse the group was divided into two - the Italians went with the guide who was with us on the coach, while the rest of us went with the other guide!? I kid you not! So six Italians go off for a small group guided tour, whilst the handful of Brits & French are lumbered with the 100 or so German pensioners!

The guide we had (who was lovely and very knowledgeable) spoke firstly in German, then English - during which time the ignorant idiots would talk so loudly that none of us could really hear what was being said. Needless to say I was not best pleased.

After being herded around the sites we were put back on the coach and we headed off to Ortygia. We were told on the coach that once we arrived there we would be doing another guided walk to various sites, before getting some free time for lunch. But at this point I’d had enough and as soon as we arrived I made a break for it and had a lovely three hours by myself exploring the island.

If the group was smaller, or they had divided us more evenly at Syracuse, this would have been quite an enjoyable day out.

In the past I’ve avoided group tours, as I much prefer doing my own thing at my own pace. This trip just reaffirmed how much I HATE group tours. I did do another tour with them to Palermo (which I’d booked at the same time) which I’ll write about in another review.

In a nutshell if you enjoy being herded around like a flock of sheep, standing around for long periods of time waiting for the guide to eventually speak in your language (which you probably won’t be able to hear anyway) and getting elbowed out of the way by ignorant German pensioners - then this is the trip for you.

Personally, I would not recommend this tour.

Hello Babykong, it is quite surprising that Tripadvisor allows this kind of comment that is totally discriminatory in relation to the age and the nationality of other guests travelling with you. We found that a very dangerous and disrespectful behavior. Comments can be done towards the service or the organization and not towards the origins or the ages of other participants. We hope Tripadvisor will take measures. Next time, please ask for a private tour, we also offer them, just let us know in advance. Cordial regards. Guest Relations Manager SAT Group

We wanted to visit Syracuse from Taormina but public transport is very difficult so this was ideal. The tour was perhaps too rushed for anyone with walking difficulties. We didnt have long enough in Ortygia and had little time for a very late lunch but it was good value for the price.

We would go back, but on our own.

Hello Tanya D, thank you for your feedback. The tour schedule is necessarily tight as in one day we visit the wide Archaeological Area with the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheater, the Latomies, the Altar of Hieron II and the Latomies of Paradise with the Ear of Dionysius, then the island of Ortigia with the Temple of Apollo, the Cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa. Many things to see, that is why the tour has to follow a certain schedule. Customers are always very satisfied to visit all these sites with the assistance of a Tour Leader and a Local Guide on spot. Warm regards from Taormina. Guest Relations Manager SAT Group

Another excellent day trip from Taormina Bus Station with SAT. Lovely guide and driver again. The Greek Amphitheatre was stunning, and our local guide, Eva, was outstanding. She brought the place alive for me ... not just spouting facts and figures.

I had a great time on my SAT Group tour to Syracusa. I would say the tour isn't of the WHOLE city itself it's just of the archeological site (ear of Dionysius and Greek, Roman theatres) IN Syracusa and Ortigia. The tour bus was a mix of Germans, Italians, and English speakers all in one. On the bus, our tour guide had to explain everything in all three languages. His English was ok a 6/10. Once we arrived at each location there was a tour guide who joined us that gave the English AND German tour. Her group was the largest 35/41 tourists and had to speak using a microphone. I opted for the tour in Italian which was much more intimate (6 people) and definitely made this entire trip. I imagine I would not have liked standing in a giant group and have to listen to the guide explain the same thing in two languages. In Ortigia we had ample time to go on the guided tour, eat lunch, and walk around on our own and do shopping. Overall I liked the trip but recognize I got the "special" treatment by being in a much smaller group of Italian speakers.

Hello ItsIsabellaC, as a matter of fact, we visit the most important sites of Syracuse which are the Archelogical Area and the island of Ortygia. Tour is scheduled in order to explore both with enough time. We have added an extra day in the frequency of this tour in order to spread the quantities and give a better service on spot. Now the Syracuse Tour is bookable on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. In any case, group tours involve a quite big amount of guests, otherwise they would have called tailor made or customized tours, with different prices as well. Greetings from Taormina. This trip was really fantastic. We loved the whole experience of touring the archaelogical park, and beautiful Ortigia. However we would have enjoyed it much more if we had had lunch after visiting the park, and before touring Ortigia. In fact we left Taomina at eightish, and did not sit down for lunch until gone 2.30p.m. We actually walked straight past the restaurant where we were to have lunch, before touring Ortigia. Qute a few of the group were ready for something to eat, and needed toilet facilities. I can only think it was arranged this way to allow the courier to leave having completed her tour. Three of the group opted out of visiting the Cathedral because they were quite tired, and needed refreshment. This was a pity. I wonder if timing on this trip could be re-arranged to allow a m ore balanced experience. Coachong and walking in heat for 6 plus hours does rather spoil what is otherwise a fantastic experience.

Hello Maisie5, yes the reason why we complete the visit at Ortygia before lunch is multiple. Firstly, the locla guide has to complete the tour in order to leave the group for lunch, secondly the cathedral closes at a certain time. Neverthless, food is always available around and questions are always welcome in order to get further information about the tours's schedule. Warm regards. Guest Relations Manager SAT Group

I was really enjoyed this trip from start to the and. Our guide Alfredo was very knowledgeable, thanks to him for making this trip memorable. First we visit the archaeological site that contains a great collection of exhibits from all over the Syracuse area: the famous "Ear of Dionysius" Greek Amphitheatre, Roman Amphitheatre. After we are visit also island of Ortigia. We are very lucky with a weather that day. THANKS a lot for the SAT group for the excellent organization of this amazing tour!!
