About the operator
- IlyaNJ00A must for any history and archaeology buffThis is the only current nuraghe WHS. The largest of them all (we visited half a dozen around the island), it has significant settlement outlines and a reasonably well-preserved central tower complex. The visit is only possible with a guide, occasionally in English but more frequently in Italian. There are three challenging passages to navigate (which largely justifies the need to regulate the flow of visitors). Impressive enough on balance, although not being able to explore on your own is a bummer. You can sneak a few minutes of self-exploration of exterior parts after the guide declares the tour to be over. The ticket allows entry to a couple of related museums for those who have time.
- Cruiser30953600Great experienceWe had a brilliant trip with Alessandro. Alessandro was very polite, professional, friendly and knowledgable. We particularly enjoyed the wine tasting and his expertise on wine pairings. We would recommended to anyone visiting.
- 608madeleinec00Absolutely amazing!Alessandro was so knowledgeable and informative about the grapes and the wine making process. He answered any questions with a smile and was keen to tell us all he knew. My partner and I were very intrigued by everything we learnt and loved hearing about Sardinian wines. The wine tasting and pairing was also very fun and interesting. We learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Just a heads up that you do have to pay an additional €20 per person on the day for the wine tasting, which we didn’t mind. We thought it was all well worth the money and would highly recommend!!
- akccmd6400Su Nuraxi Barumini and Rural Mini Dairy SinnosMy family and I had a fantastic experience with Alessandro; it was one of the best days of our week-long stay in Cagliari. Alessandro picked us up promptly at our hotel; his van was clean and comfortable (and comfortably air conditioned). On our way to Su Naraxi, he talked about Sardinian history, explaining a bit about what we were going to see. We arrived at Su Nuraxi early enough in the morning that we weren't there with crowds and felt that we had the place almost to ourselves as we explored. Su Nuraxi Barumini is SO worth the trip! It was incredibly interesting and unlike anything we had ever seen before. When we went to the National Archeological Museum in Cagliari the following day, everything made so much more sense to us having been to the Su Nuraxi site. After visiting Su Nuraxi, we took a ten minute drive to the tiny village of Gergei to visit Sinnos Formaggi, a rural mini dairy. We arrived around noon, so the streets of Gergei were quite quiet (lunch and siesta), but it was wonderful seeing what felt like a very typical Sardinian village and such a contrast to Cagliari. Sam, the cheese maker, met with us and showed us the tools of his craft. It's a one-man operation with a very small storefront, but he makes at least six or seven types of Pecorino (which we learned is a term for all sheep milk cheeses); the milk comes from the sheep raised by his wife's family a few miles away. We visited the cheese cave in the back of the family's courtyard, saw their garden in which they were growing a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers, and then were treated to a fantastic cheese tasting in a dining room off of the garden -- a variety of Sam's cheeses along with local breads, jams made by his wife, fruits and vegetables, wine ... it was a feast and the perfect way to end our outing. On the drive back to Cagliari, we learned that Alessandro is a trained sommelier who also offers wine and olive oil tastings -- that will definitely be our next outing with Alessandro when we return to Sardinia! In all, I cannot recommend Alessandro and this outing highly enough!
- Sightseer5536142470200Must-see tour with Alessandro!Alessandro was an amazing guide! He knew so much about the site itself, and shared so much of his knowledge with us about the island of Sardinia (from history to the best foods to try). I couldn’t imagine visiting this site without Alessandro - he made such an ancient place come to life! Must-do tour if you are in Sardinia.
- Elsa S00Wonderful experience with a great guide! My partner and I had a fantastic experience touring the winery. The pick-up was smooth and Alessandro told us about Sardinian culture, history and of course about the wineries while getting there. We arrived and got a wonderful and in depth tour of the facility and learned the whole process from grapevine to finished bottled wine. Alessandro is so well-spoken and knowledgable, and very easy to understand. The actual tasting was beyond anything we could have imagined - extraordinary wine and pieces of great and authentic food paired with it - we both thoroughly enjoyed learning so much about wine and look forward to using our new tools and information in the future! (afterwards, Alessandro kindly dropped us off near the city centre and told us the best places to see and where to eat!) Couldn’t recommend it enough, truly a MUST if you are visiting Cagliari!
- Felicia G00Incredible wine tasting experience!! A must in Cagliari.Me and my partner vad an amazing experience looking around the winery and getting everything explained by Alessandro. He was an amazing tour guide, very experienced and friendly. We got to see the whole process from grape to different wines and all our questions got answered very well. We got picked up and dropped off just outside our accommodation and the drive to the winery near Cagliari was lovely with great views. The tasting was the very best part of our experience. We got to try beautiful and amazing wines with great pairing with Sardinian cheese, sausage, bread and olives. Even some pastries at the end. We got generous amounts of both food and wine and they had a shop where you could purchase their wines. Both me and my partner are very new and unexperienced in wine tasting and wine making. Alessandro explained very well to us so we could understand. He guided us through the tasting in how to look, smell and drink the different wines. Overall, we had an incredible experience and loved every second of it. We definitely have a different view on wine now. We learned so much by this tour and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Cagliari!
- clionad24900Great information about food and wine pairing!Alessandro have us a lot of interesting information about the local area on the way to the vineyard and taught us so much about tasting wines and pairing different foods with the wines. Excellent trip!
- GrandTour4016175250300Informative and tastyMe and my partner had a lovely time looking around the winery and wine tasting. Alessandro was very informative and helpful. He picked us up from our apartment and told us about the city. He is definitely very knowledgeable about Cagliari and wine. The winery was very impressive. Would recommend.
- jimfK1409CB00A Wonder Afternoon of Wine and Olive OilBoth parts were great. The host of the olive oil farm was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and the experience was efficient. Learned a lot. The wine tour and tasting was fabulous. At the winery, the sommelier made the experienced. She is terrific, and also passionate. Even before the tasting the tour, was so informative and detailed. She made the tasting and is a star. Best wine tasting I have ever done in the states or otherwise. And our guide Alessandro was prompt, friendly, accommodating and his pride for his country and culture helped make for a wonderful experience.
- madilaug00Amazing wine tour and tastinfAlessandro was amazing, he walked us through the winery and production cycle and made sure we understood everything. He answered all questions I had too, he is very knowledgeable. The wine tasting and pairing with local meats and cheeses was delectable! I highly recommend this tour and tasting!! Thank you Alessandro!
- zoelyon8200Absolutely recommendI did a tour of Su Nuraxi with Alessandro and I couldn't recommend it enough. He was passionate and knowledgeable, and there was great communication before the tour as well.
- iml8a100Reliving the PastAlessandro was an excellent guide- good communication prior to event, knowing history and showing enthusiasm for the history. He made the tiring effort to explain everything in 2 languages. The experience made for a wonderful day!
- ruckalu001/2 day trip to winery and oil mill near CagliariWe had a great time in 4. Alessandro took us first to the local Winery and after tasting local wine, cheese and sausage we went for a visit to a nearby Oil Mill, where we could taste several types of olive oil. Thank you Alessandro, also for a timely pick-up and return to our accommodation.
- Bella M00Fabulous winery with an amazing guided tour and wine tasting. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cagliari😊Such an amazing experience with Alessandro. A beautiful winery, great guided tour from Alessandro, and delicious wine with cheese, meat and olives to end the experience. Alessandro very kindly contacted us in the morning and came to pick us up from the hotel after some slight confusion with the pick up destination, which was through no fault of Alessandro and we were very grateful that he came to find us! The drive to the countryside was lovely as you get to see more of Cagliari and the surrounding areas, and Alessandro provided great historical information which was very interesting. We were also lucky enough to be the only people on the tour!😊 thank you so much to Alessandro and everyone at Cantine di Dolianova! We will be back😁

We were on a cruise that stopped in Cagliari, and the excursions offered by our boat didn't appeal to us. We booked this tour instead, and were very glad we did. Alessandro met us at the cruise port, and drove us between various stops in his van. He was very engaging and shared lots of interesting information about the city. Highlights included the cathedral and the market, where Alessandro arranged for us to try some delicious local delicacies. We would definitely recommend this tour!

This was a wonderful tour. Our entire family took the tour and enjoyed every aspect. We are American and this was our first family trip to the area. Alessandro led our tour and his knowledge of history, architecture and the faith of the region was exceptional. We would recommend this tour to anyone. It was evident that he cares about the region and his customers.

Silvia was a excellent guide, knowledgeable in the city and history with great human skills. We got lucky and were the only ones on the tour that day, and she made the conversations on the tour personal in a nice and enjoyable way for us.
Cagliari is a large and hilly city, and the bus made it a bit easier going around - on top of the walking, which allows you to see the hidden paths and cute alleys. You also end up with a 24h bus ticket which you can use up to the next morning (now that you had got a hang of how to get on the bus).
The tour includes going around the Food Market, where you get to taste local cheese and charcuterie with wine. Although the market is quite large, it is not really an eating market, so this tour alows you to also enjoy it more than just walking around yourself, not to mention the help you get when you want to buy something.
Definitely recommend joining this tour.

We had a lovely old town of Cagliari walk with Allesandro! He was very knowledgeable and gave us an in-depth history of Cagliari! Since we were only five, he took us in his private car, which was really great! He spoke with great clarity and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He later took us to the local food market which really gave us a sense of the local flavour. He was kind and patient with all our questions and helped us buy the best produce. The walk included a glass of wine and some delicious local cheese! It was just perfect! Alesandro recommended a local restaurant to us for dinner and we tried it out. It was fabulous. All in all a lovely time with Allesandro in Cagliari

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Cagliari with Alessandro. We were on a cruise port here & pressed for time. Alessandro met us right off the cruise ship (walking distance) & to our surprise we were the only two booked for the tour, so he drove us in his personal car (we were much appreciative of this 😊). The tour was thorough & we found Alessandro to be very nice & informative. He made our short time here memorable. Ended the day by dropping us off at one of his recommended restaurants & we enjoyed some delicious Sardinian cuisines & then made our way back to the ship (walking distance). We would definitely recommend Alessandro for any tours of Cagliari that are offered.
